I had a very disappointing experience here while coming in for a job interview. The manager personally reached out to me to schedule the interview, and I arrived about 10 minutes early and prepared. When I arrived, the manager who scheduled the interview was not there. I was told he would be arriving shortly, so I waited. I also messaged him directly to let him know I had arrived, but I never received a response and he never showed up for the interview. On top of that, from the moment I walked in, I personally felt uncomfortable and judged about my appearance/body, which made the experience even more disappointing. I understand that things come up and schedules change, but basic communication and professionalism go a long way. I took time out of my day, traveled there, arrived early, and was ready for an interview that management arranged. A simple message letting me know the interview needed to be postponed or canceled would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, the entire experience left a very poor impression of the professionalism and respect shown toward potential employees. read more

Beet salad was a large portion so I shared with my family. I'm not a huge beet fan, but the salad dressing and goat cheese flavors meshed well together to make the beets more tolerable. The seafood linguini was very tasty, the mussels were fresh and there were also small scallops and shrimp. The tomato sauce of the linguini was just acidic enough to cut the fishiness of the seafood. We finished our dinner with chocolate lava with vanilla ice cream - there wasn't actually chocolate lava spewing out the cake like I'm used to, but the cake was hot and moist, and paired well with the vanilla ice cream. My aunt frequently likes to dine at this restaurant since she lives near downtown Burlingame, and the menu is pretty solid for a more modern Italian restaurant. There's a bar where solo diners can sit as well. There's interesting decor such as a huge wall of wine bottles. Got the chance to vist saltyard last night for a little date night with my partner and had a wonderful time. Great service good food and fantastic atmosphere. It was pretty quiet when we got there at 7pm so we started with some drinks while looking at the menu I got the basil sour - basil mezcal sour - 10/10 absolutely fantastic. My partner got the classic old fashioned they use a 30 day barrel aged bourbon to it it a very smooth taste 9/10 Next we got starts I got the carpaccio and my partner got the truffle parmesan fries. The carpaccio was fantastic super fresh ingredients and tasted divine. Only note o would add is there was a little to much arugula to the portion of meat. 9/10. My partner said the fries were good would have definitely added some more truffle the Parmesan was a bit over powering 7.5/10 Onto the mains, I got the salmon with spinach,mash all with a dill vodka cream sauce. Portion size was great and fish was cooked perfectly. The star of the fish was definitely that sauce it was delicious. 9/10 my partner got the short ribs with mash and carrots. Overall he loved the flavors of the dish but wished the carrots were cooked a bit more and that there was more sauce for the short ribs. He still throughly enjoyed his dish 7.5/10 Then to end the night we got salted caramel gelato with a second round of old fashioned and glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Gelato was incredible the texture was perfect and flavor was just right. Definitely would come back just for some cocktails and gelato alone haha. The menu here has a good mixture of items definitely something for everyone from seafood to pasta to steaks to even a burger. Great labeled menu with allergies and dietary restrictions They have a great wine list with lots of various options for by the glass or by the bottle. Special shoutout to our waiter Herbert for making the experience so enjoyable he coursed out our whole meal and check on us regularly at just the right times and gave great recommendations very knowledgeable. Another pleasant surprise during my recent trip to the Bay Area. The menu looked limited so I was not looking forward to eating here as someone else in my party picked this place. Forget your SF restaurant week because this is every M-F and isn't going away. Comes with salad or soup and the salad was great. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and thay was 5/5 delicious real crab with a good aioli sauce. My coworker had the salmon and it was a whole piece with all the veggies and potatoes with the sherbet for dessert. Totally worth it. My steak was an additional $20 upcharge but it was a good steak. Also, with all the fixings like veggies and stuff. Not a fan of their sherbet, but whatever. Service was decent. Great view of the Burlingame street to people watch. I want to untie work validation from my internal validation, the same engine that feels good when running hot in the office can come from other tracks. I want to work on that this year, though I admit that the desire hasn't translated into the action yet. Luckily, I think I don't have to change my mediocrity meter for Yelp. To get the shrimp add on to my pasta, it was an additional $10 for five shrimp. TEN DOLLLARS??? FOR 5 TINY SHRIMP??? oh excuse me, the menu calls them prawns ... PRAWNS?? These tiny tough little morsels??? I KNOW they came in a frozen bag!! The things new American / wine bar / corporate card restaurants can get away with!!!! The teriyaki skirt steak was oh so sweet, the amount of sugar could eliminate and shroud any crimes of the beef itself, so sweet it felt like panda express. It's a very lovely restaurant in Burlingame, a great choice for a nice night out for a date and/or feeling a bit bougie. We saw a few families, including a married couple with a baby. OMG - I'm SO HAPPY my friend recommended this place! Came to celebrate a friend's belated birthday and decided to do their power lunch. Which is $25 that includes 1) A Mixed Green Salad, Caesar Salad or Soup of the day; 2) Main course (with incremental cost if you want skirt steak, short ribs, rib eye, etc.) with a mix of pastas, chicken, salmon or beef; and 3) Sorbet for dessert. Ended up we all ordered the Salmon as entree - some had the mixed green and others had the Caesar Salad. I had the Caesar Salad and sadly ate my salad before I remembered to take a picture. It's a very decent size for lunch. A bit under dressed which was fine - as we asked more more dressing and got a bit more. The Caesar Salad dressing was AMAZING - had that anchovy flavor - I feel like they had either anchovy oil or bits o anchovy in the dressing - delicious!! Friends liked their mixed green salad as well - with their dressing on the side so they can put as much or as little dressing. The star for me was the Salmon! PEFECTLY cooked (not dry at ALL) salmon sitting on mashed potatoes, grilled onions and spinach all topped with the most DELICIOUS vodka cream dill sauce - which had a bit of lemon flavor - it was AMAZING. In fact I want to go back JUST for that salmon!!! OH I forgot a friend came later and got the crab cakes that also came with a mixed green salad. Fortunately, we had reservations and were seated in a smaller room near the front. We shared a fried artichoke appetizer. I had cioppino; it is a must for me when near San Francisco. It had a variety of seafood served in a tasty tomato broth. The seafood included salmon, prawns, clams, mussels, and octopus. The octopus was a bit chewy. Our first time. Really great customer service good food. My husband asked for a quiet table and so they put us on the terrace. Lovely night and the heat lamp added just enough warmth. We shared the carpaccio with arugula, left off the capers. I am not crazy about aioli, so a requested a side of the creamy horseradish sauce they had for another appetizer. BEST move ever! Added it and the squeeze of lemon it came with and it just was so delicious. I kept what was left I added it to my salmon, again really made a good dish better. My husband had the braised lamb shank. It was so tender and delicious; I took the bone it came on home. It came with a most delicious risotto with marscapone cheese and peas. Crème brûlée for dessert- they added orange to the glazed top. So yummy. The espresso was very good. We took a chicken and pasta dish home for our son. It was in a creamy mustard sauce that was delicious. Chicken was perfectly cooked. I added some steamed broccoli which went very well with the mustard sauce. That mustard sauce would also be great on the salmon. Very enjoyable evening. read more

Pricing is reasonable for slightly more upscale food & ambiance than the casual spots around Burlingame Ave. BF took advantage of the $25 Power Lunch which included a starter (minestrone soup was chock-full of veggies), main (+$20 for a sizable, tasty ribeye, which is still a decent price for the cut), & orange sorbet for dessert. I had the fried artichoke with lemon aioli ($14.99) & beet salad ($12.99) with the only note being the insufficient amount of crumbled goat cheese on the salad. I'd re-order both of these dishes in a heartbeat. We gave Saltyard a second chance to make a first impression & while they don't crack our Burlingame Top Ten, they're certainly an option on the rare occasion we want a nice sit-down Italian meal. read more

An amazing restaurant! I came in for the power lunch and was seriously impressed. For $45, I got a mixed green salad, a ribeye with potatoes and asparagus, and an orange sorbet to finish, it's a pretty great deal, especially considering the steak was literally the size of my head. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and super tender. Both the steak and the veggies were well seasoned and flavorful. The orange sorbet at the end was a refreshing, light palate cleanser that wrapped up the meal nicely. On top of the great food, the service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. First visit, came in for a business lunch. The space itself is lovely -- clean, stylish, and very well suited for a meeting. Everyone was well dressed, the room felt well run, and it's located in a cute, safe strip mall that works well for groups. One person was covering both the bar and the tables and handled it impressively -- attentive, efficient, and never felt overwhelmed. The food, unfortunately, didn't quite match the ambiance. The burrata was a very small portion, though the salad was solid. Tomatoes were fine but forgettable. The sweet bread was excellent, though the olive oil and balsamic were placed awkwardly and hard to reach. The tacos leaned too greasy for my taste, and the drink was much milder than expected. The biggest miss was the steak, which came out overdone. Overall, it's a nice place to sit, talk, and feel comfortable -- especially for a meeting -- but the food itself was pretty mid and not something I'd return for. This level of unprofessionalism and poor customer service is unacceptable. We canceled immediately and took our business elsewhere. We had a wonderful meal at Saltyard. Ambiance: Very busy and crowded (it was a Saturday evening). We opted to sit outside on the patio under the heat lamps. Food: Beef Spring Egg rolls: 3/5 A different take on the traditional egg rolls. There is beef and mozzarella inside and I believe maybe a creamy sauce of some sort. The outer shell was nice and crispy and perfectly fried and not too soggy. The horseradish sauce was to die for. I think I could've slapped it on anything and I would've liked whatever it was I was eating ;) I'm just not sure of the beef with the mozzarella combination. I think a sharper type of cheese would probably have worked better. Cioppino: 5/5 It was delicious with a flavorful broth. You could taste the seafood, but it was not overpowering. Lots of nice chunks of salmon in there, and they didn't skimp on that. My boyfriend wanted to add pasta, which I'd recommend to soak up all the soup. It definitely needs something starchy, other than the two slices of bread. However, the bread tasted heavenly with it. Chicken tenderloin: 4/5 The chicken was cooked to perfection. Not too overcooked, or undercooked. It was also very flavorful and tasted like it was good quality. It was imbued in a pesto creamy sauce, and it sat on top of mashed potatoes. It had some kind of peppers in there as well. Normally I love these peppers, however I don't think it complemented the chicken very well. The only thing I was very disappointed in was that there wasn't much mashed potatoes. You definitely need a lot more mashed potatoes to compensate for all that protein. read more
