This was the nicest adoption center I've ever been to. Unless a cat is not suitable to be housed with others, cats are kept in community rooms with cats of similar personalities. The cats' rooms are extremely clean and well-maintained. Each room also has an outdoor catio that cats have access to. The staff are friendly and well-informed about the cats. They also write notes on the walls within the rooms about each cat for visitors to reference to. Response time to emails is very fast and staff do well in assisting with issues, even after adoption has taken place. We adopted two cats and have had a great experience during and after the adoption process. We will definitely be visiting again the next time we choose to adopt another cat. read more

My wife and I had a cat for 17 years. We loved him dearly and took care of him as best as we could. Our cat would go outside. So, preemptively, I checked the box "indoor/outdoor" on their adoption form. They asked for explanation. I explained that we'd allow the cat to go outside if he/they wanted to. We live out in the mountains, so there is plenty of space to explore. We were rejected by this organization because we are "out of policy" I offered to provide references, vet references, pictures of our old cat, etc. We were emotionally engaged (at the start) with two little guys, and this place rejected me and offered me another cat. I am incredibly sad and nowhere on their website says they would "reject" me. This place will allow you to engage emotionally, only to reject you. Suggest going to Idaho Humane Society as they don't discriminate. read more

I just want to say... Simply Cats is truly a one of a kind experience you can have when it comes to adopting your furry cat friends. The amount of care and service that is put into their center is astronomical and reassuring. I love how they sell most of the essentials that you will need in order to home a cat in the location itself, which makes you feel prepared when bringing home your cat(s). It is obvious that they have their kitties in their best interest, and at top priority. They ensure that each cat is going into its 100% suitable home and will be loved unconditionally. It appears that the kitties are well taken care of, well fed, and have plenty of water and toys. My own experiences: About 9 years ago, we adopted our cat Princess, in a Simply Cats foster home. The woman was very sweet, and gave us all the tools we needed. Unfortunately, Princess passed away about six months ago due to cancer. Ever since then, we have decided if we get another cat, it would be at Simply Cats. Two months ago: my family and I decided to adopt two kittens from Simply Cats. We got Poppie and Jazzie, two sisters. Our experience was amazing, they did a great job matching us up with the best kittens for us. Overall: if you want a cat, or cats, Simply Cats is a great option! I recommend. They will make sure that you get a cat(s) that is suitable for you. I selected a cat that needs a soft place to fall and call forever home. I remember watching video of Pres, Kennedy talking about putting a man on the moon. Not because it was easy but because it is hard. I did not pick a easy cat that was abandoned. But I chose a cat that has a sweet heart and loving nature which needs time to fully develop. Came here during the Whisker Wonderland event they held two days before Christmas. I had been contemplating adopting a kitten for some time and in the process of my research/contemplation, I came across Simply Cats Adoption Center online. There are several things about the adoption process I loved at Simply Cats. First, from the initial research I did online, their website is well organized and easy to navigate. Furthermore, when a cat is adopted, the picture/information about the cat is taken down quickly so that the adoptable cats they have in house match what they are advertising online. When I arrived at the adoption center, I filled out an adoption application and once approved, I was able to wander through their many rooms to visit with the cats/kittens. They keep the kittens together in their own rooms which are well labeled. None of the cats/kittens are kept in cages. They all have an indoor room and then a small cat door that leads to an outdoor "room". The rooms are full of cat trees, pet beds, scratching posts, and toys to keep the cats entertained. The rooms are clean and well kept (as are the cats!) and they provide hand sanitizer at the entrance to every room. I was able to visit and play with the kitten I was considering adopting in a familiar environment for the cat (since it was the room he had been hanging out in since he got to the center). Once my decision was made, while the adoption specialist finalized the paperwork, I was able to shop for the supplies I would need for my new feline companion from the store of the supplies they keep onsite (which were reasonably priced to boot). Simply Cats feeds their cats/kittens Science Diet and provide you with a small bag of food to bring home, avoiding any further upset by changing up their food in addition to their environment. The workers were all helpful, friendly, and informative. The cats/kittens are all spayed/neutered, dewormed, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV tested, and microchipped. Plus, they come with one month of paid pet health insurance (with no obligation to purchase more--the insurance company doesn't require billing information or anything--it's truly just free). Simply Cats makes adopting a cat a truly joyful, painless, and smooth experience. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone considering cat adoption! My husband and I adopted a pair of bonded kittens (sisters) from Simply Cats five months ago and I am here to say that this organization and staff are truly amazing. The facility is kept sparkling clean and cats reside in rooms (not cages) furnished with toys, comfy spots, and climbing areas. This is where you can spend relaxed time getting to know cats that might be "the one or ones". One of the kittens in the pair we ultimately chose was very timid and skittish at the shelter, but after talking with the adoption counselor we were confident we had the right home environment for her and that she would adjust with patience. Ha! She not only adjusted very quickly (and I'm sure being adopted along with her outgoing sister helped a lot) but has become an extremely loving and affectionate lap kitty who is the first to try new experiences. I'm so glad we listened to the adoption counselor! The adoption process which includes tools and personalized attention to ensure the cats and humans are a good match for each other make it obvious they want every adoption to be a great fit and forever home. These cats are set up for success on their end as the adoption fee includes not only the neuter/spay operation done prior to adoption but also all first-year vaccinations, microchips, and plenty of other goodies outlined by other reviewers. The staff are top notch and went out of their way to provide quality answers to questions we had even well after adoption, so we felt very supported. Simply Cats received our kittens by mistake. We have tried to work with them to get them back. They will only say now that they have them and they are property of Simply Cats. My family is sad and confused about an organization who claims to care about finding cats good homes not willing to return them to a good home where they are wanted. We are even willing to let them investigate our home, provide references, and agree to get them fixed and microchipped (even though we planned on it already) so they can be sure returning them to us is the right thing to do. If you see Yuumi and Ragnor out in foster care or on the website, know that they have a family who loves them and wants to be reunited with them. read more

Loved this place! We traveled 12.5 hours each way just to adopt these Persian sister cats. The staff is amazing. They are knowledgeable and truly care about finding the right home for each cat. The facility itself is really cool. There are several adoption rooms to look in. Also, they do an in-depth screening of each cat medically AND define a purr-sonality type for them so you get a sense of who they are. Never seen anything like that before and it's amazing! In 2017 I started volunteering here, following the passing of my 14 year old cat. I wasn't ready to adopt, just wanted to be around cats, helping in any way I could! As a result of two different volunteer roles, one in Room Cleaning (direct interaction with cats, cleaning their rooms) and one at the Reception desk, helping visitors (the center was open to the public, pre-COVID, of course!) I quickly learned that Simply Cats entire staff and volunteer base all have the best interest of the cats at heart and go above and beyond to find the right homes for them. For the time they are at the shelter, the cats receive the highest standard of care. Their wellbeing is always being considered, and new ways to enhance their health and happiness are constantly being explored. In June 2017, I adopted a wonderful cat, and the process and attention from the staff was nothing short of exceptional. Now, in 2021, despite the center being closed to the public, they have made the virtual adoption process so seamless that they are still able to help just as many cats as before. I adopted a cat for my daughter who is an adult last Christmas. Blanche was advertised as being shy and needing to take some time to warm up. They also advertise she had been returned once. My daughter had her for three months, and did reach out to simply cats multiple times about what she could do to help Blanche feel more comfortable with her. She tried everything they offered but after three months Blanche still refused to be touched. She inquired about returning Blanch. They told her that we would have to pay up to $200 to return the cat but I had already paid $75 to adopt it for her. She decided to pay the lesser fee and take it to the Humane Society who in return took it back to simply Cats. I was surprised to find that Blanche was once again put up for adoption and no mention that the cat had been returned twice. Also it is not slow to warm up it will never warm up it has been abused or damaged somehow.For this reason I feel that simply cats is not being honest and upfront and another family is going to have to go through the pain that my daughter went through just wanting a cat that would love her back. In my opinion simply cats cycling Blanche through homes is borderline cruel. read more

Everything started great and people were helpful. we have a stray that had a litter of kittens and we submitted an intake form for them and they were accepted. I did this early on and when it was time to take them in I called and emailed the person there that sent me the acceptance to set up a time to drop them off but I cannot get any response from anyone. It's been 2 weeks and I have called numerous times and emailed several times to no avail. I guess I will try Conrad Cats and then the humane shelter. read more

For my birthday this year I was looking for a kitten.I had heard about Simply Cats from a member of the family. They had received positive treatment at Simply Cats. So I checked it out! I love this place. I'm a huge cat person, and have had very bad experiences elsewhere. The Humane Society has given me sickly animals, including a kitten that turned out to have HIV and could've affected my other cats. But Simply Cats is so much different. Their cats are allowed to roam free in good sized rooms, go outside, and play with toys, on scratchers, or with volunteers or visitors. They're so much happier and healthy here than I've seen anywhere else. Not to mention the staff is very friendly and helpful, and really good with the animals. Unlike kill shelters or the Humane Society, I've yet to see a sign of abuse or sickness- and I'm here a lot, as I bring my sister to volunteer all the time. read more

I became interested in Simply Cats because they were a no-kill shelter that was also cageless, allowing the cats to roam around as they please in designated rooms. After going through the process of adopting two kittens, I could not be more pleased with the service. They left me to peruse each room at my leisure until I chose a kitten I wanted, and I was happy to see that all the cats seemed happy and healthy and none of the rooms seemed too crowded. Their prices are also very reasonable, at about $75 dollars per kitten and down to $10 for senior kittens. With that price, you get a vet exam, initial vaccinations, microchip, spaying/neutering, FELV and HIV testing, parasite treatment, bag of healthy cat food, a carrier, and a blanket (most exams and treatments are done prior to adoption, so you can take home your pet that day!) There is an option to foster and sponsor kitties, as well as lots of information for new pet owners and educational videos on their website, which showed me how much they go above and beyond to offer the best lifestyle for their kitties. My kitten was picked up off our street by a neighbor after wandering out the door and taken to Simply Cats because she was highly allergic to cats and couldn't hold on to it. After agreeing to pay the adoption fee (because I had only had her a week and a half, got her from a private home and hadn't had her microchipped I couldn't prove she was mine despite numerous pics, I had to buy her back) I was informed that they wouldn't be releasing her until she was old enough to be spayed (she's 8 weeks old) and I also wouldn't be approved to have her because I wasn't planning on just keeping her indoors. They require even barn cats to be indoor cats. So basically they have stolen my kitten and will profit off of her one way or another. read more

I am giving this establishment a low score because no matter how nice a facility is if the faculty treats you poorly and gives you a sick animal its still deserves a bad rating. I adopted my cat 2 yrs ago and when I brought my cat home he was crying alot and started to smell a week later. Naturally we brought him to the vet thinking he needed his anal glands expressed but nope he had crystals in his urine! They had been building up while he was in the shelter and the people there probably did not even bother thinking he was crying because he was in pain not trying to be social. Anyhow we got him treated and now have to feed him a expensive prescription cat food for the rest of his life. Even with this problem I did not give them a bad review my review comes with the fact that I just had a newborn and since the cat is large ( long not fat) and very lovey on everyone that he would try to lay on the baby ( he has already tried to step on her) when I was not looking and smoother her. So I call Simply Cats and tell them the problem and when I had adopted the cat they had told me that they always take back the animals that you adopt from their establishment. That was a HUGE LIE!! They tell me that since he has crystals that they cannot feed him special food and they would not take him back if I had to bring him back because of the baby. REALLY they can give you a sick animal and then tell you that they won't take him back because they don't want to pay for the food that I have been paying the last 2 yrs. They have such a high turnover of staff that the same people I talked to were not even there. I feel deceived, I would expect a sickly cat if I went to a kill shelter but not Simply Cats I am disappointed and will never adopt or donate there again. read more

We went today to find a cat and made the mistake of being honest on the application. We indicated that we had a limit for what we could afford in terms of life saving healthcare meaning we won't go into serious debt to save a cats life. We don't relish the idea of losing a cat but we are realistic about these things. We have owned cats before. One for 19 years and another for 18. Both were loved and their loss was deeply felt. We also asked simple questions related to the personality types and what would be a good fit for our family. We weren't expecting guarantees. We realize there are many factors beyond anyone's control when it comes to any animal coming into a new home. We just were asking for their guidance. They have a whole personality test to match cats after all. We were very abruptly and rudely told in front of my stunned 8 year old that we did not meet their criteria and they would not let us adopt a cat. They felt we would not be suitable for a long term relationship with any cat they could provide. My wife who is normally unshakable was nearly in tears and my daughter was very upset. I spoke with the woman in charge a bit longer but she was adamant, rude and utterly unapologetic for her unprofessional manner with my wife and daughter. Stay away from this place but if you feel you have give them a try at least don't take your children with you if you go. We will stick with the Humane Society from now on. read more

My fiance and I recently adopted a kitten, Noelle, from Simply Cats. Everything about the place was awesome -- I was able to see her picture online before we went in, and I called just to make sure she was still available, and once we got there the person who took my call remembered me and introduced us to her. She was in a cage instead of a room, and before we even got the chance to ask he explained that her siblings had been playing a bit rough with her and because she had just been spayed she needed time to rest. Even the cage was nice, though; she had her own little bed, which she was happily sleeping in, some toys, a blanket on the bottom to shield her from the cold metal, and a separate area with privacy if she wanted to be away from people for a while. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and gave us a ton of information -- guides on introducing her to our other cat, her microchip stuff, a month of insurance, and an appointment for free booster shots. The place itself was very clean and open and welcoming. All in all it was a fantastic experience, and our little Noelle turns six months old in a few days! Plus, it's a no-kill shelter, and that in and of itself makes me happy. read more
