I ordered braised pork shank and I couldn't eat it because it was too salty. I complained about it and they replaced with a new one but this time I requested the sauce on the side. Still the pork itself is salty. I ordered same one thinking maybe because of the sauce that makes it salty. They get 3 stars only because the service and decor were great. The food was average and way overpriced. A large group of us went there last night (Friday). We had to sit at 2 tables since their largest table seats 6. Our server was Tammy who was outstanding. We liked the western decor of the place. It was comfortable and had a friendly atmosphere. The food on the other hand was average. The pre dinner bread was cold and average. They provided extremely small portions of bread and we had to ask for more. My wife had the Salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The salmon was fishy and a poor quality. The mashed potatoes were dry and not very flavorful. The asparagus was tough and again poor quality. I had the 40+ dollar rib eye with garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. The rib eye was over cooked. Otherwise, it was good. But not $40 good. It was a decent $20 piece of meat. The potatoes were dry and boring. The spinach was average. My biggest issue was price. I had an average meal for a far above average price. I walked out with a $140 bill (for 2 of us) for a meal worth $50. It was Black Angus quality. Also, they are not really set up for large groups. Groups of 4 or less is ideal. Since I loved the service and atmosphere, I will give the place one more try. But I won't buy expensive food next time. read more

The Broken Bit is amazing! We were celebrating my parents 39th anniversary and I thought of trying something knew. It's a quaint little restaurant in Quartz Hill. I love the ambience and the deco in the restaurant. The hostess and our waitress were really nice and informative. I ordered the pork shank and cheesy grits and had the Annie Oakley martini. Both were delicious! I'm obsessed with the martini. I don't really drink alcohol but when I tried it I was hooked! The Pork shank was delightful especially with the grits. The meat literally falls off the bone. My boyfriend and my parents ordered the cowboy ribeye (20 oz!) and he said it was 'f***ing bomb! Haha! My partner and I have been to Broken Bit twice, both for a special occasion and celebration. We've tried a variety of offerings each time such as different appetizers, cocktails/beer, steaks, sides and desserts. The filet mignon and wagyu flat iron steaks were cooked to perfection and tender. We recommend the Cajun rub and prawn toppers for the steaks. The mashed potato and charred vegetables are delightful. Looking forward to trying other sides in the future. Cocktails are delicious and the cheesecake is definitely a hit! My favorite restaurant EVER. My husband and I go all the time and we try to switch it up with our entrées, sides, and apps. Our absolute FAVE app is the quail & grits. Sounds weird, right?! It's not. It's amazing. I promise. Fave sides are the fried Brussels, jalapeño Mac & Cheese, and the house salad. Warning - the house salad has candied pecans, just in case of an allergy. I've been a customer of this restaurant for several years. My business hold regular mtngs there and we spend thousands of dollars a year dinning there with my associates.They have great steaks, however their customer service this past week has destroyed the image I had of them as a business. I called the restaurant to make a reservation to celebrate my daughter's graduation (she was valedictorian). When I called the manager instructed I make it online with Open Table, which I did, a week in advanced. The day of the graduation which was the day we had our reservation, I happened to call to see if by any chance my party (party of 7) could perhaps arrive a bit earlier. The lady that picks up tells me that unfortunately had to cancel my reservation at that moment because they can only do 6 people (pandemic requirements) I tell her no problem we will only do 6 people not 7. Then she says she is sorry but she will still have to cancel it because they already have other parties booked and there will be too many people in the restaurant so ours is cancelled (at this time we are in the graduation ceremony with NO other plans after but to have dinner there). I tell her I made the reservation a week ago and asked why am I being cancelled at the very last minute. She said "sorry". I asked to speak to the manager (a gentleman) who tells me the same. They can't honor our reservation because they have others. So they are cancelling ours. I explain and ask to please not cancel us as is a very important day and we have no other plans, to please not ruin it like that. He says "I'll see what I can do" and if anything changes he will call me. By the tone of his voice I knew he wasn't going to do anything at all to help. Needless to say he never called me back. I have dinned there dozens of time holding business meetings on a monthly basis and spending thousands upon thoof dollars in the process. But unfortunately they can't hold their word and keep a reservation made a week ahead. They couldn't even call me ahead of time to let me know they had cancelled it, I had to find out by chance when I called. That's not how businesses are run. My business and business associates will not be holding our mtngs there anymore. Thank you to The Yard House that at the very last minute was able to save the day and provide a large order and did it with a great attitude. They may not be a steak house but they helped us when The Broken Bit left us in the dirt. I have to say, at 8:05pm I received a call, from the same lady that hours earlier told me my reservation was cancelled, saying if I still wanted to dine there they could fit us in.....no thank you. Orlando, thank you for the answer. I will be happy to post the picture of the time I received a call from your hostess dated and timed at 8:03pm on Wednesday, June 3rd, not 7pm as you stated. I, as well, have the Open Table reservation dated May 29th. I work in the medical industry and we hold our mtngs there with both hospitals as well as mtngs with the medical reps. read more

This place is so good. The best steaks no have ever had. The people are friendly and the waitress are attentive. It is pricey but well worth it. It was my first time here and I brought my toddler and I would recommend although my toddler behaved thank god, it's more of a place for adults to relax and enjoy a fancy meal. I had a medium rare steak and their blue cheese sauce is to die for. The drinks are amazing and they doo the skimp Oompa their alcohol if you know what I mean ;). I had the jalapeño poppers and my wife had the shrimp cocktail. Both were outstanding. I ordered the NY strip and she had the top sirloin. My wife doesn't like her steak pink, but because of the size of the steaks the waitress explained they'd have to butterfly it for medium-well. She chose medium and was thrilled. Very good! I tried both cuts and the top sirloin was outstanding if you're looking to shave a few dollars off the bill. It is on the pricey side and we won't visit regularly because of it, but it was very good. Broken Bit Steakhouse kept coming up in my news feed on Yelp so I decided to read the reviews and give this new local restaurant a try. I'm glad I read the reviews and that is why I decided we arrive at the restaurant as close to the opening time of 4:30pm as possible. We in turn had no wait time to start our experience right. :) This place is located on the NW corner of Avenue M and 50th Street West. Parking lot fits the size of the restaurant. You could easily miss this place as it kind of blends in. I wish the building made more of a statement and stood out more to match the inside of the establishment. My husband and I walked in and we were greeted by a polite hostess that seated us right away. We got to choose booth or table and so we choose a booth. The restaurant is smaller than we expected but very nicely decorated inside with booths or tables and a bar area with a couple televisions. Our waitress was Amy and she was very welcoming and courteous to us. I ordered the 10oz. prime sirloin with mashed potatoes and house vegetables along with an iced tea to drink. I ordered my steak medium and it came out perfectly along with my sides. The mashed potatoes did seem too garlicy for my tastes but I still enjoyed them. My husband ordered the onion soup, sea bass with mashed potatoes and cooked spinach along with a strawberry lemonade to drink. He said he wasn't much of a fan of the sea bass since it was fried and it was a bit too salty. He will probably order a different side other than the mashed potatoes on his next visit. When we go back, he said he will ask them to prepare the sea bass differently or he will try another entree. The onion bit soup was fantastic and the strawberry lemonade was delicious but no free refills. They did offer to give him iced tea or pop to drink instead of just water as a refill. We thought that was nice but he declined since he just wanted to drink water. For dessert we ordered creme brûlée and apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Both were delicious! I don't normally do this but the apple crisp was a lot better than Lemon Leaf's apple crisp (more for your money in my opinion but same great quality of Lemon Leaf). I enjoy both restaurants and will continue to frequent them both but if I had to pick between the two, Broken Bit Steakhouse hands down for the apple crisp. We did notice that it got busy around 5:30pm, by 6:00pm there was a decent wait time so try and arrive before those times. Our service did seem to decline as the restaurant got busier so keep that in mind if you are in a rush or be prepared to wait a bit. I'm sure the kinks will get worked out once the newness of the restaurant dies down but for now, come early. Overall, our experience was really good. My husband and I are from the east coast and we miss the lack of steakhouses out here on the west coast so this is a nice local addition to the community in the AV. I do wish for a happy hour menu sometime in the future, I can only hope anyway! We will be back for sure. read more

Staff were all very friendly and greeted us as we walked in. Orlando, who I believe is mainly the bartender, took our order. He was extremely friendly, gave us great recommendations and was very attentive. We had classic Caesar salads, bread and butter (sooo good!), 14oz Ribeye and 10oz Flat Iron steak. Both medium.
