Andrew trying not to look too weirded out by sasquatch
    Danielle B.

Awesome staff and they had live music. My cider was pretty tasty. My husband got a tasting of an ale called the sasquatch... it smells and tastes like what we would imagine a sasquatch would smell and taste like. It was not good but we had a good laugh with it.

It's good beer enjoy open air building with breeze in the mountains. Nice to sit and have a flight after a long drive to town. Beers are milder & lighter tastes if you are a custom to west coast IPAs but has good mountain vibes.

Drove up specifically for the jalapeno beer and it did not disappoint. Will definitely return!

Very good small scale brewery. Good beers and great atmosphere with an interior bar area and a nice patio area where they have some music. Seemed like more of a locals place than a tourist area and it is a little out of the way, not in the tourist area of McCall. We loved it though as it was a very welcoming atmosphere and had good beers. They have popcorn too which is always a bonus! We will visit again!

    Super dog friendly!!!

Super friendly to humans and dogs!!! The beer is all dynamite and is the best craft beer in town in my opinion. They have great popcorn and swag. We actually bought our puppies a dog water bowl and we picked up a cool orange growler for us. Parking is easy and it a short walk from or to the McCall RV park. The city walking/biking path is also right behind the brewery so you can have a few too many and walk to downtown.

People were so friendly here! They gave us samples before we made our choice. I usually like Amber, but they don't make those here so this time I chose Initial Attack, and it's very good and smooth, maybe my first enjoyable beer ever. We sat outside on the deck and listened to the music.

Cute Brewery with yummy cider! We watched the trivia, that was fun. My husband did not enjoy the bartenders attitude.

The door at the back of the parking lot is where we entered into what appears to be an old dance hall/bar. One person was working the place, meaning she was the bar tender, waitress, bus person, and cook. Needless to say it took a very long time for the food to come out. She warned us though that it'd be a while. The food itself was outstanding. The sandwich was packed with meat and there was no skimping on my buddies salad either. Drinks are self serve. Overall a worthwhile stop if you have a bit of time. Hopefully they get the staffing thing all worked out.

No flights to be had but I started with a pint of "Let's Go Brandon" amber. I'm not sure who Brandon is but I wish he'd go... The amber was quite good and malty. I would have gone with a second pint of the same but switched it up. Meanwhile, SWPFTD had ordered a pint of the Angler amber which was quite different than mine but still tasty. The second pint I had was the He Devil IPA which wasn't bitter as IPA's go. Nice flavor though. Dinner was in order and we were thinking pizza but the ribeye came highly recommended. It was huge and perfectly cooked medium rare. Add a large loaded baked potato, a salad, and bread with herb butter and I was stuffed. We took quite a bit with us to have steak and eggs tomorrow morning. Heavens Gate is definitely worth your time if you're coming through town. The beer was great and so was the food! It has the feel of a locals bar, which it is. Folks were super friendly. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you!

All the wait staff were excellent. They came by several times to make sure everything was okay. The food came out quick, although the pub wasn't busy. Oh yes, to the food. The squeeze and I shared an order of finger steaks and fries. It is our norm to split an order for lunch. The meat tasted good, nice and tender. Spices in the coating decent. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The dip for the finger steaks had a good amount of horseradish in it, wasn't overpowering but put heat into the bite. They did bring an extra plate, which was nice, and not to be charged for it is even better. They may have added some extra fries and fingers, don't know, but we were more than satisfied with the quality and quantity. Hippy Hopped Pale Ale had a nice taste of hops, kind of like a session IPA. The Mackinaw Red brew was oh so malty! It was a little cool in there.

The pretzel was good, and the hot, spicy mustard was good. Good for a mid-day snack after skiing. The place was kind of broken/trashy. We were sitting at the bar and noticed that the brewing supplies were a little gross. I thought brewers were clean? The signs were not updated and had a make-shift feeling. Sad to see what was once a great brewery is now trying to pick up its pieces.
