I love this place! This is where my family and I gather for bdays, mother and fathers day. Love the ambiance, the waiters and the food but gotta say that yesterday morning I was very disappointed. I ordered green chilaquilles,wich are usually delicious. They are crunchy and use to be served with your choice of charro beans or refried. Well not only was I not served or given the choice of beans but they served me half green and half red soggy and not appetizing at all chilaquilles. Honestly they looked like somebodies leftovers. I only ate the green. I didnt complain to the server bc like I said we go there for family time and didnt want to make a fuss but I do think the cooks need to pay more attention to what they are serving before the plate goes out. The food was not impressive. My omelet was cold..... Potatoes overcooked Cheese not melted Bacon super hard to chew. Toast was gummy (not toasted) Im not very picky, and I did try to eat it but I couldn't. I gave it 2 stars because the service was very good. I really wanted to like this place. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. The host welcomed us in and sat us down right away. Sadly, I was so disappointed with my meal. I ordered the Golden State Benedict. I was so hungry and craving eggs benedict so I was super excited to get my meal. Unfortunately, the chef decided it was ok to serve me benedict's with a broken hollandaise sauce and the side of home fries wasn't crispy AT ALL, they were quite soggy. I tried to eat my meal because I was so hungry but I could only get through half a benedict and 3 home fries. At least the waitress gave me 50% off my meal. I've been to broken yolk before and was happy, and I cant complain too much... they sat us quickly, they are a large restaurant so it's no problem not having a reservation usually. The service and staff were super friendly, and the food came out a little slow but still within a reasonable time. The place was clean and cute inside. The biscuits and gravy are amazing, I got a half/ side order of it and it was large but I loved my leftovers of it the next day. Coffee is bottomless. My only complaint- I got the pick 2 eggs Benedict, which is a great option if you have a hard time deciding between 2 things, but the eggs were like hard boiled not poached. For us eggs Benedict fanatics, we order them because it's not something you'd usually make at home, but I can make a hard boiled egg at home LOL. Either way broken yolk has many food items and I enjoyed coming here in the past, was just a little disappointed this time in the not-so- poached egg. read more

This is my third time going to this broken yolk. Each time the food has been less than satisfactory. I decided to try it again as I hadn't been in a few years, and it's no different today! We've been here many times, but SO DISAPPOINTED of my last visit because of my food, I ordered BLT sandwich, they prepared it, SO STINGY ingredients of my BLT sandwich & side of sweet potato fries! Bacon-not crispy! Lettuce-one piece of not fresh lettuce (wilted)! Tomato-0ne slice of tomato & same not fresh! Bread-I asked the server for light toast of my bread, but gave me a hard toast bread! Use to be a big fan of Broken Yolk, but these past couple visits have been lacking. Let me say the restaurant provides good service and is very clean. My issue is with the food handling. This last visit they gave me a dish with very bruised avacado and mushrooms were not cooked well. This food is very over priced, for one meal with drink came to the total of $45. I'd rather take my business elsewhere. I shouldn't need to order a mimosa flight to make my meal tasty... Gross. read more

In April, we enjoyed a breakfast with the family at Broken Yolk on Ynez. This place truly lives up to its name as there was nothing broken about it. We were promptly seated and the customer service was excellent. Our food arrived in no time. We ordered the ff. food items: * Meat Lover Skillet: A mouthwatering combination of home fries, diced ham, bacon, sausage, bell peppers, onions, scrambled eggs, Jack cheese, and green onions. * Classic French Toast: Three thick slices of bread, cooked to perfection with a golden brown exterior, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and served with a side of strawberry sauce.
