The food is great, and we would definitely recommend this place based on the food alone. Unfortunately, our experience with the customer service at the front was not as pleasant. The person assisting customers came across as unfriendly and seemed bothered when we asked for simple things like cheese or pepper. The same attitude was noticeable when answering the phone. We understand everyone can have a difficult day, but customer service makes a big difference in the overall experience. We would respectfully suggest having someone more welcoming and friendly working with customers at the front. It has gotten to the point where we would rather order ahead than come inside. The 5-stars is for the food. Yummy pizza with loads of fresh toppings and a distinct version of red sauce. I've been a customer even before the Covid shutdown and I'm glad their business survived. Truthfully the restaurant is showing its age but the pizza and drinks are still good in my book and those basics matter. Yes this place isn't fancy and can be quite busy on Friday nights but if you're a pizza fan I think you should give a try their pies and be very satisfied. I attended a large party at your facility this evening. Aside from our group, there were only two other patrons in the dining area. I value good customer service, and unfortunately, since this facility has reopened, I have consistently experienced poor and dismissive service from staff at the counter. Tonight was no exception. At 7:27 PM, I approached the counter to order another beer and was told, "We stop serving at 7:30." When I pointed out that it was still 7:27, the employee responded, "I'm not pouring you a beer." The interaction was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional, especially given the timing and lack of crowd. When I asked for a manager's card, I was given a phone number that simply routes back to the restaurant, which further reflects a lack of care for accountability and customer experience. Now for the record, this is THE Bronco Billy's, the original real deal pizza joint. It started in the early 1990s in the historic Old Alvarado neighborhood, where I grew up. The building its self is historic, well over 100yrs old. Before Bronco Billy's it was "Uncle Joe's" Pizza when Joe Betchart ran it. Around the early 90's was when they finally started cooking pizza with a gas oven, before that, it was a brick / wood fired oven. Super cool history!! Anyhow, now that we've finished the history lesson, onto the pizza: the pizza at this joint is truly the real deal. The crust is special, always comes out crunchy and not doughy or seemingly undercooked. Do yourself a favor & get some pizza at this place. Help us keep a decades-long institution going. They've got a small bar, with beer / wine, small arcade with a few games. Very large party room if you need to book a large venue for a birthday party for example. Within last number of years, was remodeled, dining-in is always a good experience. Lastly, the service here is always good. Which is a pale comparison to the generally poor service I get at the "other" Bronco Billy's in Niles (no relation) - so don't get the two twisted. I used to frequent this place back in the day and I was in the area so decided to order some pick up for the family. First of all this place has change a bunch. It's a bit surprising when you get just absolutely terrible service. I call in to order and the lady sounds like she hates her life. Sure whatever you might be busy so makes sense you could just be rude over the phone. I walk in to pick up the food 30 minutes later. It's dead inside and I'm about to find out why. Same Latina chick prob in her late 30s who answered the phone is at the register and has her same bitchy tone as she did over the phone. Like you are ruining her day just for wanting to pay for your pizza. $53 for an overpriced pizza that includes a 3% fee for using a credit card, which you are not warned about over the phone lol. I've been ordering from this pizza place since I was in middle school and have always had good experiences, which is why this situation was so disappointing. When I called to place my order, the woman who answered was extremely rude. I politely asked her to give me a moment because a family member was considering adding something to the order. Instead of waiting, she sharply said, "Hello?!" I repeated that I just needed a second, and she responded with attitude, saying, "You give me a second," before placing me on hold. When she returned, I let her know we weren't adding anything after all and even apologized for any confusion. She told me the wait time and then hung up while I was in the middle of saying thank you. I was so upset by the interaction that I asked my mom to pick up the order instead, because I didn't want the situation to escalate if I went myself. Unfortunately, she was also rude to my mom during pickup. On top of that, our order appeared to be incorrect--we received a medium Hawaiian pizza instead of the large that was ordered. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially as a long-time customer. The service here is always a 10/10! No matter how busy they are, they always take the time to greet you and have a quick chat while you're paying or waiting for your food. Today, we were told there would be a one-hour wait when we called in our order for three slices. We arrived at the 50-minute mark, and the slices were already ready to go--perfect timing! There's an employee who works weekends (I don't know his name), but his service is always exceptional. Despite juggling multiple tasks--making pizzas, handling payments, and greeting customers--he remains incredibly friendly and attentive. The pizza itself is consistently delicious. Since they're just a block away from my mother-in-law's place, we order from here frequently. My husband and I have both been going here since we were in middle school so it's really cool to bring our kids here right? My eldest son actually said it's his favorite restaurant lol. SLICE LIKE PIE Just like pie the crust of the pizza is an important aspect. Without the crust the filling of the pie and toppings of the pizza won't hold up. Unfortunately too many trendy pizza places focus so much on the toppings you get too full after one slice because the texture of the crust is heavy as a cardboard. I ate at Bronco Billy's Pizza Palace in Fremont about more than seven years ago. During the NFL playoffs this year when the 49ers were playing I would order two large pizzas from the Union City location. Each time I ordered I have been more than satisfied with the pizza. In fact I can eat more than two slices of pizza from Bronco Billy's and never feel queasy. Yet I never had the opportunity to eat here. One day I came here for lunch to order a slice. At first I was going to order two slices of pizza with one topping each however the cashier mentioned to me that their slice is a large portion. He showed me the slice of someone's order and it did look similar to a pie. I decided to get linguiça and bacon one slice of pizza. Those toppings seem unique, but I wanted to give this combination a try. When the slice of my linguiça and bacon arrived I was astonished that I was not going to finish my slice. The slice pizza at Bronco Billy's consists of six slices. In the past for a pizza this big I would get bloated after the second slice. I wasn't bloated after my second slice. What I noticed was the crust of this pizza is thin. A thin crust makes the pizza not doughy. Due to the light crust I was able to finish my personal slice of pizza. A light crust highlights the toppings of a pizza because you don't feel full after eating numerous slices of pizza. Surprisingly I thought the combination of linguiça and bacon would be salty but it wasn't. I was so satisfied with my slice of linguiça and bacon at Bronco Billy's about a couple of weeks later I came here for lunch, but this time I got a 3-topping slice of pizza consisting of pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. These toppings are classic 3-topping pizza you are generally accustomed to. I'll admit after trying the 3-topping pizza I think a 2-topping pizza is better as the toppings don't overwhelm each other. I mentioned a very good pizza is about the crust. The way you can find out of if the crust of the pizza is exceptional is by ordering a cheese pizza. That's what I did the following week when I came here for lunch to order a cheese slice pizza. The cheese pizza at Bronco's Billy is similar to a flat bread but crust isn't as crumbly. I'm not a fan of vegetarian pizza, but I wanted to try my own special type of vegetarian pizza. Two weeks later I ordered a slice of artichokes and spinach with pesto. That pizza I ordered was pretty good as the pesto counteracts the slight bitterness of the artichokes. As a carnivore I prefer meat pizza over vegetarian pizza. How about a seafood pizza? Last night I came here order a two-topping slice of clam and garlic. I enjoyed this pizza than I did when I ordered the slice of artichokes and spinach. After eating here numerous times at Bronco's Billy the crust highlights the toppings. I ate non-pizza items like hot wings and garlic bread. I'll admit they weren't outstanding, but a pizza eatery ninety-five percent is based on the pizza. I can't say if this place has the best pizza of all the Bay Area or California. Instead of a general area I'll limit it to a specific area. Does Bronco's Billy Pizza Place serve the best pizza in Union City? Yes. I will go far to say that Bronco's Billy Pizza Place serves the best pizza in the Tri-City (Fremont, Union City, and Newark). read more

One of my favorite pizza spots in the East Bay! Being a creature of habit, I've been ordering the same thing every time I go. CHICKEN COUPE SLICE. So garlicky and cheesy. The servings for the slices feel the most worth it to me because I can only eat half and take home the rest. My boyfriend orders the chuckwagon slice which is loaded with different meats.
