Back on the old stomping grounds to show my Queen Bee where I once lived when I still had a future rather than a past. This little spot used to be the home of an Irish pub long since gone. I don't even recall the name of it! Nice, dark vibe in here kinda like the old man bars and gin mills that used to line this street when it was still a strongly Irish neighborhood (I'm Greek and Ukrainian). Difference between this and a gin mill is the funky music. Urban rock, 80's pop, funk and jazz all taking turns on the music system here. Oh, and gin mills don't offer food much beyond pickled eggs or pigs knuckles. As you see here, the menu offers a bit of everything you'd want if you're gonna suck down a few beers or boilermakers and piss away the afternoon. Friendly bartender working by himself behind said bar, which features a revolving group of no fewer than 15 drafts and a slew of bottled and canned suds, as well as liquor. He was patient and hospitable, even offering tastes of different drafts if needed. My burger was more like medium well than medium, but the sear on that bugger was wonderful! Half pound patty on a good roll with a nice load of fresh LTPO made for a helluva sloppy mouthful, but in a good way. I think my mouth died and had a wet dream on the way out. Fries were definitely fresh and not seasoned, as I don't put ANYTHING on my fries. QB's chicken wrap was a heaping mouthful too. Tender, moist chicken cutlet chopped and surrounded by picked onion, arugula, some Jack cheese and chipotle mayo in a nice warm, slightly grilled tortilla. Same fresh cut fries (both of ours were hefty portions). I tasted her wrap, BTW. Wow, that thing was tasty too! I don't make it back to this neighborhood very often, if only because it has nothing left for me even if I did. However I dare say that if God were to play a bad, tasteless joke on me and send me back here to live, I'd sell my plasma to eat and drink here again somewhat frequently. Nom noms!! read more

I came here on a Sunday after service. I was pleasantly surprised and I would definitely be back. So first I went with my sister and she has 6 children. I was unsure of how they would treat us because we had 6 children with us. But I must say the service was amazing. The manager sat us at a long table with low chairs for the children. Then she would check in on us regularly. They were very children friendly. The atmosphere was good and the tvs were showing the games. Now the food we ordered the boneless chicken wings with French fries. It was really good and I liked very much. The chicken was fresh and tasty. The children enjoyed it very much. Then I had the Philly cheesesteak and tater tots. The cheesesteak was huge and delicious. I only ate half and the tater tots were also very good. The food was not greasy and did not upset my stomach. I am always a bit worried with fried foods because sometimes they are greasy or not flavorful. This was not the case the food was very good and so was the service. I ordered a drink and it was ok. I've had Bronx Alehouse bookmarked for ages, but since I seldom make it over to Kingsbridge/Riverdale I hadn't found myself here prior to today. Since I'm off this week from work but had to cancel my travel plans due to the pandemic, I thought I would try to make the most of it and check out some new places to eat. That being said, I made my way over to Bronx Alehouse. NYC is (only) allowing outdoor dining at this time, but I decided to do pickup instead. Ordering was easy - they have an online portal on their website to place your order and I received a text shortly after with a pickup time. The decor of the space is that of a large pub - and as such most of the menu is bar food: wings, sandwiches, burgers, beer, etc. I decided to order a chicken BLT - which is exactly what it sounds like. I got to choose between crispy or grilled chicken (I chose crispy) and they used sourdough bread instead of plain white which I thought was a nice touch. The sandwich came with fries and I got to choose a number of types in addition to plain - the garlic ones sounded tasty so I went with those. Additionally, I was curious how their onion rings were so I decided to get some of those as well. The sandwich was pretty good - the sourdough and chicken definitely made it more interesting than a typical BLT, but I thought an aioli or some other type of sauce would have really tied the whole thing together. Fries were fine - the garlic added nice flavor but besides that they were typical fries. The onion rings left something to be desired - they weren't overly crispy which I won't hold against them since I got takeout, but I thought the portion was too small. For $8, only a third of an individual-sized takeout tin was filled - I thought the price didn't match the quantity I received. Even with these criticisms, I can't totally knock Bronx Alehouse - the vibe seemed to be on point, and my food was ready on time; once things are back in full swing I would definitely return to get the full experience. I was a bit disappointed-- The staff here is not attentive or welcoming. They take your order and forget about the table! We ordered our food and it came out at a decent time. The food was good and the prices were lovely. However, our follow up orders took FOREVER!! We ordered more drinks and it was like they completely forgot about us. We ordered La Chinola and waited over 20 minutes and never got it, but they tried to charge us for it. When I brought this to their attention, they seemed annoyed... not my fault. Do your job right and this could be avoided. Also, when we left, nobody thanked us for our business/visit. The girl literally took the cash and walked away. Would I visit this place again? -- I highly doubt it. No matter how good the food is, if your staff does not have a positive attitude, it will push people away! read more

so lucky to have this amazing bar walking distance from home! Burgers are amazing so are the wings (not much of a fan of their lemon pepper though). Chicken wrap is pretty tasty, it's my bfs fav. I've visited the Bronx ale house multiple times I've always had good experiences. when I came here on a Friday they had happy hour and we have sour amarettos it was a bit disappointing very watery . I decided to get a cocktail instead because I figured it would be better quality I got the berry d Rose and it was too much sugar and full of ice. The poutine with the burnt ends were really good and the burger looked good (I didn't try any), was cooked well, and the onion rings fried to perfection. I wasn't a fan of the fish tacos as it didn't have much flavor but the fresh corn salsa was very refreshing. Our server was a bit slow and ditzy, but polite. Maybe if I wasn't so hungry and wasn't in a rush, I would've given four stars. If you're in the area, this place is spacious, the food pretty good, but definitely go during happy hour to take advantage of the happy hour pricing. A cute little brewery spot! It is close to both public transportation & highways like the i-87 and near other stores such as bjs as well. You have th option to sit inside or outside. Yesterday was the first time I went to this place and I recommend because the staff are friendly and on point with the service. The bathrooms were clean and the food was good. Now, I had the fish tacos and my boyfriend had the steak sandwich. No complaints there. Reminds me of the good ol college days where you can go somewhere casual get a drink and watch sports. I also got the day breaker drink which was interesting like sweet and salty I think the tequila was good & strong. My boyfriend had the soup beer drink and he liked it. Last but not least, they check your vaccination cards with id so make sure to bring it! I came in after work just looking for a place where I can just sit and chill, watch whatever sports was on the tv and just surround myself in the environment. This place has that feel and environment to it. Service was great and warming. And since I was a first timer there, the bartender gave me a few suggestions. My food choices however I didn't loved greatly mainly because I was trying something new with the chicken Mac and cheese and Chouffe beer. The mac and cheese had an interesting taste to it but not like interesting like as in weird but like interesting as in I never has experienced this taste before. However the only critique I have is the crumbs over powers it. So does the chicken and it doesn't let the star shine which is the mac and cheese. read more

Nothing special , we did a Uber eats order and got Mac and cheese samplers with the tater tots nachos. All the items were cold , excessive amounts of onions on the nachos that were already soggy and the meat was so dry. The chips were literal ruffles chips.The tater tots tasted like they were frozen and the sauce thrown on top was just so oily and unpleasant . Mac and cheese was average but had cold uncooked panko breeding throw on top. Mac and cheese is the only reason I gave it two stars. Not worth $60 ! read more

Food was great, and our server Ashley did a fantastic job sharing her thoughts & suggestions for food and drink, bringing some samples for us to try and figure out what we wanted. Even though there was a technical issue with the ordering system that resulted in part of our order getting delayed, I still have to say it was a great experience because the quality of food but also how Ashley & her supervisor handled things. They both came out to apologize & share updates about things so we knew that the order was being taken care of. Food was great, and they kindly comped us the drinks and an appetizer. Parking was nearby and not hard to find. The food itself was really good. We all got burgers and really enjoyed them. The beer recommended to me by the server was amazing as well. Okay, the veg options are a little limited, but the cauliflower wings are bangarang. The environment is half beer house, half sports bar, so expect lots tvs and sports fans on game nights. The servers are the MVPs here and boy oh boy was I taken care of. I was nurtured for like a lost lamb suckling on the 16 beers and cider they have on tap (okay so it's 15 beers and 1 cider, but it was a dope triple jam). When I used to run, this bar was my main stop after the NYC Marathon. The Alehouse Burger with a hearty draft beer is my favorite from here. They have a wide variety of burgers and countless draft beer rotation. The place is easily accessible via 1 Train at 238th and Bx9 and Bx10 bus at 238th. I'd recommend you come pay them a visit and if it's game day, they stream sports too, typically baseball and basketball. read more

So after hearing about this place through friends, I had to stop in and try out the chicken wings, the fried Mac & cheese and just get my last dose of Resturant dinning as covid regulations closed indoor dining starting Monday in New York, so I'm glad I got a chance to come out and grab a bite here. The experience was great and the staff were all wearing a mask, had hand sanitizer at the entrance and took temperature scans. Everyone applied social distancing and they also offered outdoor dinning if they didn't have seats available inside but do not have heated space for the outdoor dining so luckily we got to enter the establishment. Onto the food, my guest and I got some chicken wings / fried Mac and cheese / and garlic parm cheese fries. Photos attached. I've only had their food through Ubereats. The wings are terrible. Not even a little bit of flavor. How about some seasoning. And if there is no seasoning at least cover the whole wing in sauce. I got the sliders with cajan fries. Both were great for the price. There's no kids menu, but the cheese quesadilla was a good enough replacement. Came in for dinner post-COVID. On a weekday the wait for a table was almost an hour. I'm happy the restaurant was busy, but was bummed that we never got a notification for our table. After 45 minutes we came over to check on the wait only to find numerous empty tables. This is totally forgivable given the state of dining right now, but unfortunately the food itself was not enjoyable. Service was friendly but there were two mistakes/forgotten items with our order. For $8 the portion of thinly battered onion rings was small, and was more batter than onion. The deep fried Mac n cheese came with a BQQ sauce that was too sweet. The Mac itself as well as the batter was not flavorful. Jerk chicken wings were dry and the sauce used seemed to be a dead ringer for Walkerswood, but was heavy handed. It wasn't too spicy, it just tasted like they put too much of the sauce onto the chicken so it was overpowering. The sliders were ok, nothing notable to add. The strongest item were the French fries with a delicious everything bagel seasoning, but unfortunately these came out room temperature. read more

Great place! I've been here 3-4 times so far. The first time I came here on a Friday night after going to a movie. It was crowded, but was seated quickly. They don't have blue moon but recommended the alternative and it was very good as well as the bacon cheese burger and parm garlic fries. This place is not huge, but ascetics are very cool. The decor is amazing and very classic neighborhood pub. It makes you feel relax and it's fun. I loved sitting at the tables personally or at the bar, not in the middle of the restaurant it's too much travel usually. I went with a large group of friends. Somethings we ordered were the jerk chicken wings, loaded nachos, burgers. My friend ordered sweet potato fries. I tried those and they were good. The second time I came here I came on at about 4pm on a Saturday. Just like the first time the staff was very friendly. The food was great. This time I tried the appetizer sampler it was two of us and we could not finish it. This place is fantastic. Always a fun time and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The food is always great and these are by far the best wings in the Bronx. The Thai Chili is a new favorite for me, and the lemon pepper are always a strong choice too. The French fries are always crispy and perfectly cooked. They have a variety of options and tater tots available as well! I went with the old bay fries which weren't too salty. The hefe is a smooth beer that's a great choice to complete any meal! I loved their efforts of keeping everyone safe and socially distant as well, always important during these covid times!
