Brought my son here for an endocrinologist appt on Thursday. On Friday, my son had a severe allergic reaction where Neffy (nasal epi) was administered and 911 was called. They brought us to Bronx care, as Lincoln hospital was crowded and he was in need of rapid help. They took us in right away, only my son and I. His dad had to wait out in the waiting room. Things took a turn for the worst, my son threw up and his oxygen went down quickly. They gave him more epi and his respiratory continued to go down no matter what they did. Room swarmed with people helping from 5 ppl to 13 to 15. They allowed my husband in and then intubated my son to help him breathe and prevent swelling of the throat. This was pretty traumatic for us and my son but i am glad because it saved his life. We were then taken to PICU and he was well taken care of. Shout out to all the nurses and doctors on the 4th floor especially nurse Ali. He really made sure my son was comfortable and needs a raise asap! After almost 2 days of my son with the intubation and sedation, they removed the intubation safely and continued to monitor. He's eating moderately and walking around a bit. Everyone has been very nice and kind to us. They have provided food allergy safe food for my son and food for my husband and I while here. I haven't left the hospital or my son since coming here and appreciate it. Food is decent, could improve on the chicken and the oatmeal but the rest is not too bad. There's a pantry at this unit with juices, milk and snacks. Also a microwave, water and ice machine. This has got to be the worst hospital and experience myself or a family has ever dealt with. The hospital is unsanitary, the staff lack empathy kindness and compassion for patients and it seems as though everyone lacks professionalism. My grandmother has been a patient here for a couple of weeks and my lord these people are a joke! Staff completely rude, they talk about patients in front of other patients. They sit and chitchat at the nurses station and are NEVER available to assist anyone! My grandmother stayed on the 16th floor and I hope every other floor isn't the same. The bathrooms in the rooms were disgusting, after they clean a patient left over bloody bandages, wipes and other biohazard items are left all over the bed and floors. One particular nurse even said that my grandmother was being difficult with her because my grandmother stated she was too rough. NURSE DARCY then said my grandmother was annoying! She also said she "gives up" on my grandmother because she didn't want to finish her meal. This hospital needs to be shut down. The night doctors don't know what the morning doctors are doing and vice versa. One doctor tried to perform surgery on my grandmother after one doctor had already stated it was too risky! This place is insane! By the nastiest rudest set of staff members I've ever witnessed and the hospital itself is sooooo dirty! Nurse Darcy even called another patient obese and her and all her other staff members laughed while the patient was sleep. This is disheartening when you being a loved one to a facility and the energy there is draining and loved ones tend to leave worst! My grandmother has gained multiple bed sores since. Frustrating on pretty much every level you can think of. One doctor in particular, Jonathan Robinson in the orthopedics dept., was running 2.5 hours behind at my first appt and 3 hours behind at the second. He also told me that he prescribed me a medication, but it didn't show up in my chart and I had to call back. Aside from that, it's hard to get appointments, almost impossible to get medical record copies because the place named on the recorded message in the dept stopped working with them in 2024, and the facilities are filled with people talking loudly on their phones, blaring videos, or ranting about how long they've been waiting. I'm here with the hubby for a procedure. I come with him, and it's always an unpleasant experience. I thank GOD he always made it through. Some doctors here really care, but then you have other doctors that are full of shit. His urologist, I can say, takes the time to explain what's going on, but his Othorpedic Doctor Debra Allen, to me, couldn't give a healthy shit about my husband health. It's been almost three years, and he's still in pain, and all she does is: ask the same 3 damn questions, then says ok I'll see you in 3 months. I can't stand that lady. Thats fine, what was not fine was all the negligence, lack of respect, lack of compassion and trauma I went through being in the psych er "rehabilitation program". I've been Neurologist Dr. Rene Elkin patient for a while and I finally decided to stop being her patient. For starters, when I come to my appointment. The woman and man at the front desk are not welcoming. They look at me and other patients like we are interrupting them.They do not smile at the patients. When they take my insurance card, they don't give eye contact, but talk to each other in Spanish. The reception employees ( same people) rarely answer the phone. They are probably talking to each other, or on their phones. Recently, I kept calling to get a prior authorization. I was told Nurse Frances ( she does Dr. Elkin Authorization) was off, she will be in tomorrow. I never received a call from her about my prior authorization. I need to order my medication 2 weeks in advance, because it's not stocked at the pharmacy. I called the office again, because Nurse Frances didn't call me. I was told my prior authorization was done. Well, my pharmacy told me they are still waiting for my Dr. to answer. I called the office again. My calls aren't answered, I don't get a return call when I leave a voicemail. One day, I blocked my phone number , someone answered my call. So, the front desk purposely dismissed my calls. Now, about the Neurologist Doctor Rene Elkin. She doesn't have good bedside manners. I've been her patient for a while. I decided to stop being her patient because she gaslighted me, didn't send my medication records to a fellow Doctor for treatment, gives me a hard time when I need prior authorization for my medication. She has used profanity during one of my visits. She doesn't reply to emails. Quite frankly, she doesn't give a damn about my well being. I pleaded (emails) with Dr. Elkin to submit prior authorization; but she ignored my emails. I think she is a sadist. I'm done with her. She is unprofessional and rude. It's unethical to withhold medication from a patient. Mind you, this medication is for migraines, not an addictive medication. I contacted Patient Relations to complain about my calls not being answered nor returned, and to file a complain about Dr. Elkin. A woman name Patricia Snipes called me; and she replied to my email. She apologize that I had a bad experience. She told me there are other neurologist in the hospital. She told me someone will contact me from a clinic ; to refer me to a new neurologist. Unfortunately, no one called me. I waited 11 days for this situation to be rectified before I submitted this review. If you want to file a complaint against medical staff with patient relation do so. It's important to have a record about your experience. However, they will do absolutely nothing. Just find another Doctor. After sending numerous emails to Dr.Rene Elkin and making numerous unanswered calls. Dr. Elkin only called me back ( the day I submitted my complaint to patient relations ) because I filed a complaint against her with patient relations. Why do I have to file a complaint, just for her to return my call? She had no intention of returning my calls. She only called me back because she doesn't want to look bad. She told me ( voicemail) " I will submit your prior authorization". She never did, I feel like she is retaliating against me, which proves my case. My complaint letters (emails) and evidences prove my case . I'm at peace now, because she's no longer my doctor. I shouldn't have to plead for her to answer my emails, answer my calls and submit prior authorization. read more

This place is horrible!!! You book an appointment and when you arrive 30 mins early, you spend 25 mins waiting to get registered in the lobby. I went today, the line wrapped around the registration desk. The administration sits there and just laughs. There's a line to get on the elevators as if we are prisoners. It's so bad, they have security guards signing people in. When did a hospital/clinic hire security guards to register patients? That means they have access to our private information. It was during my stay here that I found out about "IM' injections". And I've been in and out of hospitals for the last 15 years. They are terribly painful and does nothing to rectify whatever problem was the initial issue. I received about 20 in a six month period. Most of them was in the beginning of my stay simply because I was being vocal about inconsistencies. For example there was a tv schedule for the ward. But I noticed no one followed it. So I said something to the heard nurse on duty. How come we don't follow the schedule? He promptly called me stupid then proceeded to call the shot brigade. Most of my shots came from minor things like that. So in order to stop getting injections and extending my stay I just remind quiet. Even when there was something unjust happening. I told myself no more being an activist while I'm here. It's pretty messed up if adults have to behave like children. "Shut up and do as you're told." That's the motto of this hospital. The quality of care given to patients is so below standards that they're is no amount of negative stars I can give. The hospital staff is overwhelmed with the patient ratio to qualified nurses is unbelievable! Patients are unattended to for hours on end and or laying in their own feces for 5hrs at a time. Personal witness and testament. The nurses don't care about any of the patients and all they do is walk around with their earphones pieces in listening to music and or talking on their phones all shift long! When you ask someone for help as I did while there checking in on a relative I was told things like I'll be there in a minute or I have something to do or they all of a sudden can't do it cuz they're NOT the nurse for said patient! Then when I got help to move the patient it was an hour later. So by that time I had done the nurses job by myself!!!! The patient had open wounds laying in feces! When I tell the nurse to irrigate the vaginal area she takes a wipe and wipes the outside ONLT saying it's clean see?! I yelled at her and snatched the wipes from her and 3 wipes inside the vagina showed her that the feces in the vagina will cause patient to have bacterial infection! Is this how you clean yourself or a baby in a diaper after a diarrhea poop!? I reported her and the doctor had to tell her that I was right! Unreal how she became a damn nurse not knowing to irrigate the vagina clean! Them bitches are lazy. Don't allow your family member to be put in there. I was extremely impressed with their MRI and nuclear Medicine department. The staff here was not only very professional but they also had the best State of the Art equipment in line with other hospital like NYU medical. What was even more impress was how Mr Eric Bates had his entire team working in such great professional cohesion with each other making sure that his team were professional and prepared. He also ensures that each of the patients know what to expect and that charts were complete and equipment up to par. Nicole, the young lady in the front, was extremely warm and kind to every patient who entered no matter what their socioeconomic background appeared to be. True to the end, Hypocrites and not honest in there dealings with us. PRI reports which were to be sent to Rehab facilities for my mother in Law, They chose to only send it to One of our 3 choices. They never sent reports to our first choice or to the Facility my brother in law heads as an OCT professional. How do we know this? The facilities were contacting us to let us know that they had received incomplete reports. They attempted to reach the hospital for the Pri's and calls were never returned. Lesson learned to not sign discharge papers until they prove to you that these reports have been received and that all places have had the opportunity to respond. The location they gave the business too would you believe has someone there once a week...Conflict of interest? Use your resources and if you have a personal doctor get him or her involved. Someone said to me its a Bronx Hospital what can you expect? Expect to be taken care of professionally. The decision makers hold them to task it is there job. I see Dr. Ivonne Cruz at POE Medical center (a bronx care clinic) and she is one of the best pcp doctors I've ever seen. She is attentive and genuinely concerned with any health complains I may have. She makes sure to check me thoroughly via blood work and specialists before choose to prescribe unnecessary medication. At the main hospital the facilities are clean and waiting time varies between 30-45 minutes depending on patient a in waiting area. The ob/gyn staff is warm and friendly and address my concerns in a professional manner. This hospital has a bad reputation but it's really not as bad as others complain or suggest. ER visiting hours: 30-minute visits every two hours on their schedule. Leaving you to wonder what is really going on with your sick or injured loved one. This place was absolutely terrible After having been in a car accident and suffering back and neck injury's i was left with no medical attention, pain meds, or even a glass of water! I was left waiting to see a doctor for 4 hours! When your in pain 4 hours feels like 8so understand this experiment was truly terrible. I was given a very uncomfortable neck brace and told to continue to wait i would never recommend this hospital not even to a dying dog! DO NOT GO THERE What I will say is that It seems as tho the pct's care more about the patients then the doctors and nurses do And i found that the cat scan tech was also pretty awesome. If I could give this hospital a negative star review I would! This hospital is such a waste of space, and that's me being nice about it. The staff is HORRIBLE at best. They have the worst attitude I have ever seen on any medical staff. My brother needed emergency medical attention after breaking his jaw in 3 places and they made him wait in the ER without being seen for 12+ hours. This hospital is beyond depressing. Every one of us were very impressed with the process from making the appointment by telephone to getting the shot at the Mt. Eden and Grand Concourse locations. Staff kept sending me floor to floor then eventually told me to go to the 2nd floor Info desk. I was very impressed with the level of care my father received from the ambulance to ER, and CCU. My father suffered a heart attack without realizing. The admitting doctor in ER admitted him and the cardiology dept took over and transferred him to the CCU unit. The internal doctors and Dr. Vittorio (cardiologist) took care of my out of state 90 year old father. This hospital knows what they are doing. The entire team at CCU are on top of their game. They were knowledgeable, compassionate, and extremely attentive. I've dealt with many hospitals and doctors throughout the years due to aging parents and I have to say hands down the CCU team rocks! I came to visit a close friend of mine here and one thing I've noticed is (No one checks I.D.) very bad if you ask me. Before, years ago they used to check I.D. what happened? Anyone can come in this hospital with a gun and no one will notice. Once I reached my friend room all I hear is loud talking mean while they have a sign on the wall that says: SHHH!!!! I'm sure that there's a level of seriousness needed when reviewing businesses here on Yelp. I'm also sure most people who don't necessarily research ratings or prior customer experiences may think Yelp is just a holy grail of complaints - but this is when reviews can save other people their time, their efforts and their sanity... shit, maybe even their life. Don't waste your time. From endless phone calls to this health center and others under the same management, no clear instructions and the extreme hassle to get my own medical records all I have to say is this has been a nightmare. If you ever do get in contact with anyone at these places they'll fail to clearly explain guidelines, time expectancies and simply courtesy to your time. Commuting from Manhattan to the Bronx just to fill out a form they could have mentioned on the phone is not worth the trouble.
