My fiancé and I just happened to accidentally stumble into the new downtown location today as it appeared to be open and when we called the store, whoever answered the phone told me they were open and serving. We were unfortunate enough to be greeted at our table by a manager I believe you our servers said named was Julian. We were unaware that they were doing a soft opening, and instead of being friendly and nicely letting us know they were not yet open to the public, he made us feel extremely unwelcome and was horribly rude. He said "he guessed we could stay" but my fiancé and I both felt so uncomfortable and offended and unwelcome that he nicely finished his drink, we tipped our servers even though we were not required to and left. I'm sorry to say I will not be returning to the Brook anytime soon, which is extremely upsetting considering it WAS one of my favorites in Tulsa. I hope the next customers have a better experience than we did and I hope this manager sees this review and his higher up supervisor knows that they have an extremely rude man on staff that should learn how to treat people. I have worked in the service industry for over 10 years, and worked many restaurant openings. If someone accidentally stumbled in on a soft open, I never saw them get treated the way we did. The Brook is such a gem of brookside. The kitchen is underrated and unexpectedly good. Why do i keep forgetting how good out is? Even my vegan dinner was exceptional. I ordered the fiesta burger with steamed vegetables and tator tots. It was all really good with generous portions. The Brook probably makes the best tator tots in Tulsa. Seriously! Not to greasy. Cooked just right. Oh yeah and tasty beers too. More pale ales and IPAs would be nice. I used to get honkers ale. Two thumbs up. read more

The side of Mac n cheese is massive - can be an entree in and of itself! Service was a little odd - we had about 3-4 different servers come up to our table asking for our drink and food orders and we had already placed it with a different server. We made a reservation for 8 for 6pm. We show up at 530 just to be there. We expected a wait due to our party's size. But around 6pm, a party of 10 comes in without a reservation and was seated in about 10 minutes. At about 645, they ask if we'd want to be split up to be able to eat. I left since I had an event in about 2 hours afterwards I had to be at and couldn't keep waiting in hopes of a table for us. I am not sure if the rest of the party stayed. This issue was caused because the people doing the seating put the reservations on a different seating list and only looked at the walk in list when seating customers. read more

Lots of people like this place, so sorry to be a downer. Take this review with a grain of salt because it probably has more to do with mood at the time I went there. My main complaint is the ho-hum menu choices; seems a bit uninspiring. Run-of-the-mill sports bar fare. Nothing wrong with that, per se, but if you're not in the mood for either a salad, a burger, fajitas, or something fried (which I was not), then you're better off elsewhere. I was hungry, but nothing sounded good. I ended up ordering the loaded cheddar fries (fyi, the full order is TOO MUCH for one person - I didn't even get through half of it). I love, love LOVE the brook. This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch on the weekends with friends. The cheese fries are delicious and a great starter to split between a few people. The chips and queso aren't bad either! I love their turkey club sandwich, which comes on a delicious croissant. I usually substitute the tomato for avocado, which costs a little bit extra. Totally worth it! For a side, I always get the Mac n cheese. It is dare I say it, the best macaroni and cheese I have ever tasted in all my 23 years! They have a huge assortment of delicious wraps, sandwiches, salads, and larger entrees. The portions are pretty good size, which is great for me since i take the rest home and get to enjoy it again! My cousin and I went to lunch today at The Brook. We used a living social pre paid coupon today for lunch. She ordered a taco salad and I picked out a plate of fish and chips. I requested no tartar sauce, but extra lemons for our water. The plates came quickly and the food was plentiful. It tasted delicious and hit the spot. The service was top notch and the price was right. Without the living social coupon, the bill would gave been 23.00. I went here on Brett B's recommendation. The place is okay. But it is one of those quantity versus quality type of restaurants. The Brook has all of the usual Southern Fired Foods on the menu. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and a salad. The Salad was huge! This was more like a dinner salad not a side salad, It was fresh and tasty. The Chicken Fried Steak was enormous as well. But the quality was not what I expected, the batter to meat ratio was way off, too much batter and not enough steak, the gravy was very salty as well. The Brook isn't bad, but it's not my favorite place to eat. If you're looking to watch a game and have a few beers then the Brook is a good place to do so. Most of their food is fried and leans towards the heavy side. I do like their side pasta salad though, it's probably my favorite thing to eat there. I went to Brook last night for drinks and today for lunch while in town for business. The atmosphere is so cool - I loved the big old projector (Brook was once a movie theater) so much I took a photo of it. They had some good wine last night, and the bar was a nice, chill place to hang out for a couple of hours. They have an impressive collection of flat screens showing whatever sportsball game happens to be on, but it's not overpowering or sports-bar feeling at ALL. They keep the bar sort of separate from the main dining room so it's not too noisy. Today for lunch I was overwhelmed by how tasty the veggie burger was. I am on a constant quest to NOT STARVE while traveling for work, and since I work 99.9% of the time in Texas and Oklahoma, it's kind of hard - not a lot of love for vegetarians around these parts. My lunch was so good today I cleaned my plate, and this is a huge rarity. Only complaint is that there were two veggie burger choices but that's it for vegetarian options (aside from the usual salads and side dishes). Visiting here every few months I'll enjoy having the same thing over and over, but if I lived in Tulsa I would likely want more choices before becoming a regular dining customer here. The Brook is great when you're in the mood for some serious fried, cheesey bar food. Everyone makes a big whoop about the Mac n cheese, but I think it's kind of hit or miss depending on the day. Cheese fries are giant and greasey, which is great when you're in the mood for it. There are good drink specials sometimes, again it's hit or miss. The portion sizes of the sides are GIANT. I would always order a side of Mac n cheese and a side of veggies, which is a ton of food for 5$. My advice is to order sides. I know I can't finish even that. We came to the Brook for the fish and chips special they have on Wednesdays.I'm a big fan of fish and chips but even more so when they are discounted! Upon arrival I also discovered they have great beer specials on Wednesdays too. Don't remember all of the different specials, but I had a coors lite for $1.75. Can't go wrong for less than $2 bucks! For starters, you absolutely must try the fried mushrooms which come with marinara and ranch but you can ask for whatever sauce is your dipping preference. Be careful when you first bite in because they are usually really hot because they are so fresh and something about battering and frying mushrooms makes them hold the heat for a bit. For dinner, as I said at the beginning of the review, I came for the fish and chips. The Brook did not disappoint. The fish was the perfect crispy texture and I got four pieces of fish, a side, and tarter sauce all for only $7.50. Though it is called fish and chips, I actually opted for mac and cheese instead of chips. The mac and cheese is so creamy they have to bring it out on a separate plate, and my-oh-my is it delicious! It is more like Velveeta shells and cheese than a baked mac and cheese that a lot of restaurants serve; this is the kind of mac and cheese that I grew up on so I had a moment when I took the first bite. Another really great menu item I have tried at The Brook is the spicy chicken tenders with fries and I give them a thumbs up also. The fries are great and have a nice seasoning on them, and the chicken tenders are not too spicy but have just enough kick to give them tons of flavor. The service was definitely above what seems to be the normal standard these days. There are still many things on the menu I have to try here, and I'll let you know what else makes my list of must trys. read more

First time in Tulsa so you never know what you're gonna get in a new city. This was a great place to 'stumble' upon. We were tired, cold and hungry from torrential rains on Saturday. We had a little bit of a wait (about 25 mins) but well worth it. Even with the terrible weather there were people constantly coming in so we had a good feeling about this place! I had the blackened chicken sandwich with a cup of tortilla soup which was delicious. The chicken was well seasoned and not dry. The soup was very creamy and was almost 'queso'-like but not as thick served with hearty tortilla chips; not the usual tortilla slivers; very yummy. Definitely recommend and would go back next time I visit. Only reason for 4 stars was the feeling of being a little rushed, probably because of the crowd that was still waiting to be seated! read more

The chicken fried steak is as big as your face and they measure out the mashed potatoes in pounds per plate. This place has insanely great food. I've been on several occasions and the food has always been top notch. The open face chili cheese Burger was amazing!!! I had a Bacon cheese Burger on my last trip and it was great too! I went with a group of coworkers the last time and had a mountain of cheese fries with Bacon, chives, and jalepenjos. It has amazing but quite filled us before our entrees came to the table. If I could say one bad thing about this place, I'd ask for smaller portions for a smaller price. read more

The original Brook is a great restaurant - it's a very similar (if not the same) menu as the southside location but is located on Brookside. I try to eat a lower carb diet and was really pleased that they had low carb wraps - plus, there are good sides options. I got the cottage cheese and steamed broccoli. Dip the broccoli in a little ranch and it's a meal. We sat in the bar which is a good place to watch games - there are ample TVs angled throughout the room. We were able to easily watch the same game sitting across from each other. The one downside is that parking is pretty tough during peak periods - I had to park in the neighborhood to the east of Peoria. However, there is a small lot behind the shopping center that the Brook is in. Overall, the Brook is really good and a fair price. read more

This place has been way below average my last few visits. Ordered the buffalo tenders with the extra spicy sauce and mac and cheese. Got the wrong order and cold food. The mac and cheese was different and sticking together making a big mushy mess. The tenders were soggy and cold...and had the wrong sauce on them. I live in brookside and have eaten here around ten million times. Gotta say though the manager here just could care less now. The only decent thing is the burger. Everything else is a coin toss on if it will be edible or not. Avoid the weekly specials at all costs. Since four moths from the date of this updated review on dec 2013, all portions are freakin tiny. I mean small. The fish and chips used to be three huge chunks of fish five inches square. Now you get three McDonald chicken strip size one inch by four inch things that are all breading. Sent them back and a guy ( guess it was manger) tried to tell me that he's been at the brook three years and it's always been like that. Told him I have been eating it for ten years and no it's not the same. What's more tastes like crap. He said it was also same tasting recipe. So you guessed it, I told him no I haven't been eating crap for ten years. The crap taste is a recent addition. Gave them three more tries and the place has officially become sucky. Avoid if you can. So we always have great food here so we looked forward to checking out the new one downtown. It was a horrible experience unfortunately. We were seated on the patio and a girl greeted us immediately. We ordered a drink and 15 minutes later we still didn't have it. The people beside us had been waiting for a server after the hostess had to get them waters when they asked. They finally had to ask for a server. All the new tables around us got servers and so we finally asked too and then a new girl gave us a serious attitude and we left after she continued to argue. She should remember she works for tips. We left and as leaving she was up front at host stand complaining loudly to the hostess about us. Very unimpressed. They have a long way to go to get organized and train decent servers. Not going to pay someone to treat me poorly when I'm there to enjoy myself. read more

Had lunch here on a Friday. We arrived at 11:10. Were shown to a large booth in the back. Our server was very nice and brought us drinks quickly. I had the Blue Cheese Burger with a side of cheese fries. Burger was cooked medium rare as I ordered. Fries very good. My wife had a Turkey Reuben with the sauce on the side. She said it was excellent. We also ordered a grilled chicken salad for my brother in law. This is and has been a local favorite and I am glad little has changed over the last 10-15 years. I had a full order of their Southwest Nachos and it was more than enough food for me. The menu has a variety of items, but isn't overwhelming. The servers were friendly and the environment was very relaxed. The Brook is informal and accessible, great for a quick lunch date or business lunch.
