When she was placed on Hospice, the staff brought a bed for me so she would never be alone. The caregivers and the director visited her throughout the day. He was very comfortable there and the nurses, especially Maria, took care of him like he was family. He always told me how good the food was and he was always happy when I stopped by to visit. I was able to communicate directly with Lina the administrator as well as Maria one of the nurses through text messages which was very convenient. They were always very good at getting back to me. My mother recently passed away, having been a resident for the past 3 years at Pine Tree Villa…read more After a terrible experience of several months at a different, more expensive, nearby private facility, I knew the first time I entered Pine Tree Villa this was where I hoped my mother would live. Even though modest and not recently remodeled it is clean and comfortable and depending on the time of day, smells like something delicious is being prepared in the kitchen. She received the best care I could ever have hoped for. The staff were caring and respectful with all the residents, responding quickly to their needs and just 'being there' when required. They routinely performed welfare checks throughout the day and night. Some of the staff shared meal preparation duties, creating nutritious, tasty meals 3 times a day with snacks between if requested, as well as honoring individual requests (my Mom liked Ensure in her coffee and oatmeal). Lynn, the owner, and her staff are in constant contact with one another and with patient's family (if needed). Because of that, Lynn was able to alert me to specific changes in my mother's demeanor which allowed me to be present when she breathed her last breath. Lynn was always available by phone, if not personally, and is an exceptionally kind, competent and responsive individual. I had peace of mind knowing my mother was being cared for in this well managed, well organized, comfortable facility with exceptional staff where I felt welcomed as part of a family. I often told Lynn that if the time ever came and I should need to live in an assisted living facility, that is where I would want to be. I am forever grateful my mother received such loving care.

Having volunteered at a lot of care homes (therapy dog visits) Pine Tree Villa is clearly number one on the list for me. Caregivers who worked there 15+ years ago still work there and that alone is telling a lot. My recommendation is to not look at how fancy a care home is but look at the care itself. That's what truly matters. My other recommendation is to get on the waiting list when you feel it could be close. Don't wait until a major fall or other emergency happens. You can always say no if you feel it's not quite time yet but, as the scouts say, be prepared. I am glad we were. Check them out, go there, then if still in doubt maybe ask if you could talk to a close relative of another resident. Many like me are gladly willing to talk about their experiences. To me Pine Tree Villa is like extended family.

After another month of continuous rehab/PT, mom was living independently again dancing (slowly and surely), playing cards, volunteering and being as active as ever. 5 months total after breaking her hip, she was on a plane for a once in a lifetime trip back to NY to see her Grandson get married. Truly amazing! Thanks to Marcia, Tess and all the great ppl who helped my mom make a recovery I didn't think possible actually happen!

The executive director and the memory care executive director are compassionate and work in collaboration to meet the residents needs for individualized care. Good luck understanding your monthly bill which, for us, changed monthly while our loved one's care did not. Don't bother contacting Edwin, the business manager/ coordinator about bills unless you're prepared for a rude response and a person simply lacking the interest/ expertise in getting his #s correct. Memory Care food is not nutritional nor nicely presented: lunch may likely be a tuna salad sandwich on white bread with Lay's potato chips, served on a plastic plate. YUCK.

The staff leaves residents in soiled briefs for hours, especially if there is any difficulty in…read moremoving/changing the resident. Residents who complain of pain are told they are "faking" it or just attention-seeking. One supervisor and several "caregivers" stated their belief that one resident, newly admitted, didn't actually have Alzheimer's, but was just pretending to have it. They screamed at her regularly, to the point where you could hear the yelling (by the staff) from the other end of the building. If you have to admit your loved one into memory care here, I strongly recommend putting cameras in the room. Or better yet, just don't do it. Find somewhere else. Anywhere. The residents are treated like obstacles that have to be avoided while collecting paychecks.
