AMAZING! Beautiful! Immaculate facility! Loving employees who feel like family and friends. Shari…read moreKranig is the Executive Director, hired to revamp this senior full-care home. There are not enough positive words to say what a life-saver Brookdale Senior Living in Folsom and Shari Kranig (Exec. Director) have been for my mom and our family. It is immaculate always, to the point where my kids and grandkids all say it smells so good and is so clean! The food is incredible, really! We can visit Mom to eat a yummy meal with her (we pay for our own). There is even a smaller separate dining room where we have had my mom's birthday and other family celebrations. But the greatest compliments are for the staff from the top (Shari) to every person working there: housekeeping, dining, medical, caregivers, front desk, maintenance, etc. Everyone knows my mom's name and the family. It always feels so welcoming to visit, and comforting knowing Mom is loved and cared for. Mom often holds my hand tell me that they love her! My mom was so ill when she first moved in. I thought we were going to lose her, but she has been stabilized and is so much better. Her room has a beautiful view of the huge courtyard with a giant oak tree, roses and many potted flowers. There is an outside walkway, patio with chairs, tables and umbrellas so she and our family can go outside for sunshine and nature. The Fireside Room is cozy with a full-sized grand piano. My mom even played it several times. It is an active spot for people from Bible study to word games, exercise and musicians. There are daily activities, menus, and outings to the store or elsewhere. This facility includes a memory section, and I toured noticing how immaculate it is kept. The residents were also well dressed, clean and have activities. As I said, not enough words. Best care I have ever imagined for my Mom. Thank you, Brookdale and Shari for your angelic hand! Allison Rice, Auburn CA.

Which takes me to the city of Folsom where we both had the opportunity in checking out "Snowline Thrift Store". Located directly on East Bidwell St and adjacent to Glenn Dr, this very well-known thrift store has been serving the Folsom community and its surrounding areas dating back to 1979. Best of all, the money that is collected goes towards hospice care for a variety of hospitals and care facilities in the greater Sacramento area. My lady and I came here during the afternoon on Saturday 5/30/2026 at around 3:00pm. As for the exterior of building, this place offers ample parking for a couple dozen vehicles which is very convenient on the busier days. Upon entry, I was greeted by a huge jukebox (that sounded amazing) playing lots of great upbeat music; my kind of vibe when I am thrifting. The main register is near the front entrance while there are actual fitting rooms (unlike Goodwill) where you can try your clothes on before you buy. Finally, they do offer a single one-person restroom towards the mid-rear part of the building. Business hours are also quite reasonable as they are open Monday through Saturday from 9am-7pm and Sunday from 11am-7pm. The overall prices here are quite reasonable as they sell a nice assortment of men's, women's, and children's apparel all at decent prices. Here you will find quite a bit of tees, polos, blouses, pants, jeans, skirts, outerwear, ties, shoes, and much more. They also carry a nice variety of glasses, dishes, small kitchen appliances, home apparel, artificial plants, mirrors, artwork, and even larger items such as tables, recliners, curio cabinets, and bedroom/living room furniture. And for the bookworm/audiophile in all of us, this place sells quite a decent amount of books, movies (VHS/DVD), music (vinyl records/CD's). During our visit, my lady was able to make a few amazing purchases on some small accessories for her workstation as well as some nice little side pieces for the living room. Even when she took these items to the front register, they gave her a better deal which meant she left paying a lot less than she had anticipated. However, the store itself was a little bit cluttered but still easy enough to navigate around. With the above average customer service, decent selection, and very reasonable prices on much of their merchandise, I am giving the Folsom "Snowline Thrift Store" an above average four stars.

For the thrift shop itself, they have a wide assortment of items available for sale. Home items, clothing, music, etc. I feel that some things are priced well, while others are overpriced. For instance, they had a power wheelchair in the shop priced at $4,000. I work in the wheelchair industry, so I understand that this chair has value, however, this wheelchair also has a repair history as noted on the back of the chair. For a thrift shop that has a mission of supporting families through such difficult times, I would hope that they would make the pricing on durable medical equipment more accessible to those who truly need it. This is a custom power chair, meaning it won't be a perfect fit for whoever buys it. There would likely need to be modifications and potential repairs, which would be even more out of pocket cost for the family. Other than that, spend time looking around at what else is offered. I liked looking through the home decor.

They have been taking care of my dad, who has Parkinson's, and the level of care and compassion they provide is truly exceptional. Every caregiver we've interacted with has been professional, kind, and genuinely caring--not just doing a job, but forming a real connection with my dad. It gives our family such peace of mind knowing he's in such good hands. One of the biggest reliefs for us has been how they handle the billing process with CalPERS Long Term Care Insurance. They direct bill the insurance company, which means we don't have to worry about being the middle person or dealing with the stress of reimbursements. That alone has saved us so much time and energy. They also went out of their way and helped my mom in an emergency situation. They also are very quick and accommodating when last minute care is needed. We're deeply grateful for the support California CareGivers has provided. They've made a difficult journey feel a lot more manageable, and we can't recommend them highly enough.

While his nurse was kind, she did not advocate for him when it mattered most. My dad was in severe pain from prostate cancer, and despite repeatedly telling them his medication wasn't working, Bristol ignored his pleas. Anyone who has watched a loved one die knows that no one in that situation asks for more medication "for fun." About a year into care, Bristol abruptly dropped my dad in the middle of his hospice journey. Before doing so, they told me they weren't taking away his driver's license, yet shortly after we received notice in the mail that they had. When I called to ask about it, they insisted they had told me beforehand--which was untrue. This deception not only stripped my dad of something deeply meaningful to him, it also eroded any trust we had in their care. As a social worker, I know what healthy, dignified care should look like. The way Bristol treated my dad--ignoring his pain, failing to advocate, and being dishonest about critical matters--was borderline abusive. Withholding effective pain management from a dying patient is unacceptable.
