It wasn't the holes themselves so much, but the distance between holes that made walking the course more of a challenge. That and finding the next hole. They weren't really well marked, but fortunately we were playing with someone who knew the course and could find their way around. Going from hole 2 to 3, in particular, was quite a hike and not at all easy to find. Overall, we enjoyed the round and will be back - but next time with a cart!

They offer carts if you prefer to ride, however most the time we walk the course except when it's extremely hot, then it's better to take a cart! The venue was beautiful and Carrie who is a florist there created amazing arrangements for us. On the day of, Katie came to check in on us and got us ready to start the day. I was not aware that it was a league night as that isn't posted anywhere there - (it's on the website, but I didn't check that beforehand). Other courses I play at allow people to follow leauges, but whatever... anyway, when I went in to ask to play and to pay, she was a major b$#&^ to me about it. A simple - "I'm sorry, we are closed for a league tonight - you can play at X times" was all she needed to say. Instead she was super harsh about them being closed in front of everyone at the bar. I won't go back and hope only the worst for her and her course.

That said, hats off to the staff at Luxe for treating me no differently than anyone else there that night. The evening started with a lovely buffet that included a nacho bar, both barbecue and dry-rub chicken wings, fruit and vegetable trays, and pizza. I highly recommend the pickle pizza, a delight I learned to love in the Twin Cities!! The chicken on the nacho bar was moist and very tasty. I also enjoyed the barbecue wings; they were meaty and the sauce was generous. When food started to run low, staff were quick to respond and the kitchen seemed up to the task as the buffet was replenished as quickly as it seemed possible. I was very impressed. I don't drink very often, and this night was no exception to my general rule, but I did sip my friend's tropical cocktail, and found it worth every penny because it was strongly alcoholic and very refreshing. Everyone in the large group I was there with seemed to enjoy the golf aspect of the evening. This was my first experience with a place like this, and it was fascinating to to watch. The food was very good and the drinks were well made. The general manager spoke with us and wanted to ensure we had a good experience. The view when golfing was beautiful and they hand comfortable seating. I would definitely return and this place is the perfect spot for date night or time with friends.

We played yesterday and left quite disappointed. The course is in very rough shape and in dire need of some TLC. I understand the fact that some of the holes couldn't be mowed due to the recent rains but it doesn't appear that any of the course has seen the lawn mower or a weed wacker recently. Our group lost a bunch of balls that were hit near or on the fairway. Hopefully changes are coming as we sure did like coming here over the years.

If you're playing from the white tees, the par 3s are a bit long and challenging, but overall, the course isn't too hard. Many of the greens were kind of small, but the par 4s were generally pretty short. If you're looking to get use out of long irons, this is not the course for you. Great for wedge practice though. The greens were soft and receptive, I just wish more people would have the courtesy to repair their pitch marks. The course itself is near the lake, and it's very pretty. My only complaints are the lack of cart paths, divots and pitch marks are plentiful throughout the fairways and greens, and the water drainage is pretty typical of the Milwaukee courses. We had to clean our balls after every shot, mud tracks from carts were pretty common through the fairways. I'd imagine on dryer weeks, this course would've been even better. Out of the regulation, executive, and par 3 courses, I'd say this one is my favorite. You'd have to check out the championship courses to find one better, in my opinion (big fan of Oakwood Park). TLDR: if you want to play on a fun course that isn't just for longer hitters in a pretty setting without breaking the bank, this course checks those boxes.
