Wow, what a great addition to the west side! They have a complete selection of fresh fish and other seafood. Clams, oysters, mussels, lobster and more. All kinds of fresh fish including whole fish. Their smoked fish section is amazing. Try the smoked salmon nuggets! They also have a good grocery section. All types of sauces, sausages, and frozen items too. I bought a fillet of Black Cod/Sable from Brookies and pan seared the skin and then the meat side after marinading it in miso, marin wine and saki. It was 100% like what I would get at a high end restaurant downtown Mpls. Brookies has it all, wide variety of East side oysters, clams, shrimp, all sorts of fresh fish. I obviously love it. It's so cool having new local businesses in the neighborhood. First thing I noticed (or rather didn't notice) was the place doesn't have an overwhelming fish smell. The fish looked good and they have a fun variety of products, unique mayos, sauces, ramen bases, sriracha ketchup and I loved the frozen bao. I've been three times now and was not disappointed in the salmon, scallops or oysters (generally only east coast oysters FYI). This small fabulous fish market is a wonderful addition to Texa Tonka Shopping Mall on Minnetonka Blvd at Texas Ave. Their products are kept in enclosed cold controled cases, therefore the shop does not have an overwhelming off-putting fishy odor. I am greated with a smile and welcoming upon entering. I buy the hand cut salmon weekly. My wife and I have salmon every week. This hand cut salmon is NOT like your regular grocery store salmon. It is far above other available salmon. We season each fillet with gartlic salt then black pepper then paprika and then paint it with melted butter. We broil it close to the broiler coils and when it's just almost done by pressing on it, my wife smears a hot pepper jelly over all the fish and prplaces it under the broiler to caramelize the jelly, then let sit a couple minutes and serve......The best salmon ever. I also buy their shrimp, some are shelled, some not, some with heads on. They sell frozen restaurant grade gumbo or Jambolia and chowder. You can buy Duke's Mayo and other hard to find specialty items. Their assorted herrings are so good if you are prone to love herrings. I can't stop buying the smoked Ciscos and Lake Superior Trout both loaded with the good omega-3 oils. There is a small limited supply cheese shop next door which specializes in nice cold cut and cheese sandwiches and cheese varieties. There is a door from the cheese shop to a fully stocked wine and liquor store adjacent run by a wine expert. He and his staff are friendly and willing to help you find a beverage to go with your fish and cheeses. I think you can tell, I love Brookies. read more

I was just made aware of Brookies Fish Market by a Yelp notification. I love good seafood so I dropped by and was very impressed. Until the pandemic I was a regular at Coastal Seafood in Minneapolis. They moved to a new location across the street from their old place and after the move I believe that both the service and quality of their products have declined significantly. So much so that it is longer worth my time to shop there give the hassle of driving to a neighborhood that has become kind of sketchy. This afternoon I stopped by Brookies and I will definitely be back. The quality of their products is very good and the service is fantastic. In addition to fresh seafood they have a selection of other "gourmet" edibles including imported sausages, frozen duck breasts, and many other items that are impossible to find at your local supermarket. Today I bought scallops and mussels as well as smoked white fish, horseradish herring and frozen lobster bisque. I am usually not a herring fan but theirs changed my mind. They are located in the Texa Tonka strip mall on Minnetonka Boulevard west of highway 100. Lots of parking and a nice neighborhood. Give them a try. read more

These guys are the real deal. They only sell what they can get extremely fresh. Their standards are beyond high, bordering on the absurd as far as that goes. Yes, It is expensive. Get over it. Very fresh,very perishable, very high quality food, especially fish, is always expensive. Always. Expensive to buy, even more expensive to maintain in a retail setting. That is just the way it is. We don't live in California or Hawaii. You want cheap fish? Go to Cub or Target and get it there. It is crap, but it is cheap. At Brookies it is flown in daily and might be two or three days out of the ocean. Four tops. There you have it. It's up to you what to do. Such a great addition to the west metro! I had heard about Brookies online and swung in after work to check it out. The inside looks great - things are clean, organized, and well-labeled. There are refrigerated items, frozen items, fresh seafood, and dry goods. The selections is great. Anything you could need to cook fish is available. The paella supplies definitely peaked my interest! Spices, cedar planks, condiments, dips, spreads - all are available. The fresh fish selections was much more than what is available at somewhere like Costco or Lund's and the fish looked great. Also available we're shellfish like oysters (shucked and non), clams, mussels, and lobster claws. There was also a selection of smoked fish that the owner let me try - it was so good and all sourced locally from Minnesota and Wisconsin. The smoked ahi tuna was awesome and I left with a package! Finally, the service was fantastic. I was greeted immediately, the staff offered samples of plenty of items, and they were knowledgeable with suggestions for which fish to buy, how big of portions to serve, and recipe suggestions.
