I stopped into Brooklyn Bagels on a Saturday morning around 10am. Even though I live nearby, I've only been once before, so I was excited to give it another try. I ordered the Williamsburg Bagel, which consisted of lox, plain cream cheese, tomato, capers, and red onion. I originally wanted it on an Everything bagel, but since they were out, I went with a Garlic bagel instead. Even though it was a tad bit crowded, my sandwich was ready in about 5 mins. I've had the Williamsburg Bagel before so I was excited to enjoy it again but I wasn't a big fan of the thick-cut red onions they added on there, and I actually love onions! Unfortunately, I ended up taking most of them off. I also wish it had more cream cheese, the thin layer on the bottom just wasn't enough for me. That said, the bagel itself was fresh and overall, the sandwich tasted good. At almost $20, it did feel a little pricey for a bagel sandwich, but I enjoyed it. I'm not sure if I'm being biased, but visiting from NJ/NY area, there was nothing great about "Brooklyn" bagels. My husband and a friend came here on a Thursday morning to order 6 items and they were gone for almost an hour (it was a 10 minute drive from where we stayed). They come back with a bag of "bagels" (if that's what you want to call them) drenched in ketchup. Our orders were extremely simple: BEC w/PK on a plain bagel Egg and cheese on a croissant BEC w/PK on an asiago bagel Taylored Ham, egg & cheese on a bagel Toasted everything bagel with lox & cream cheese Here is everything that went wrong: 1. The bagel store didn't offer BACON, so we ended up substituting for sausage. The sausage patty was probably the size of my kid's palm- that's how small it was. The eggs were overcooked and had no taste, but don't worry, they'll make sure to smother the entire bagel with ketchup to make up for it. 2. TOASTED bagel with lox & cream cheese- bagel was not toasted, and there wasn't any lox available. 3. Egg & cheese on a croissant- the place didn't have any croissants... so had to substitute this for a roll 4. It was the chef's second day in the kitchen. Bagels alone wasn't great quality..it was edible enough, but extremely chewy and stiff, especially after taking so long to prepare the orders and with two people working in a place that is seemingly popular with the Yelp Community, the amount of time it took this order to be ready was a little ridiculous. I ordered the same thing back home the following day and it took less time to make here in NJ than it did here on a non-busy day with just my husband and friend as their sole customer at the time. read more

I come to this place almost every other Saturday morning as I am coming from across the water. The food has taken a drastic downturn, I guess the loxx is now a sandwich? This happened last time but I figured it was a fluke. It only had crème cheese on one side and half the sandwich had barely any salmon. I have been coming here with my family since 2022. I stopped by in June, and it has taken a bit for me to get back to this review. Least to say, the quality and customer service has taken a drastic hit. My boyfriend and I have ordered the same items since trying this place, so I am pretty comfortable making these critiques. I ordered their Flatbush, and my boyfriend ordered a POBO (Something to note, we were obsessed with their pastrami). We were not greeted by their staff of two teenagers. They seemed less than enthusiastic with our arrival. There were two people ahead of us--but we waited a little over 40 mintues for our food. We understand a wait time, we usually expect it here, but trust me it was not a busy afternoon. Least to say, we were shocked with the quality. The bagels themselves were cold. The pobo's cheese wasn't melted and the hashbrowns were cold. The Flatbush lacked pastrami, the meat was cold, and overall lacked the flavor I truly loved. The pastrami itself must have had a recipe change. It was cubed, cold, and chewy. We used to buy it by the pound, but changed our mind after trying our bagels. We went here again a week later to see if it was just a bad day, but the experience was almost exactly the same. I'm not sure what happened. I used to love this place! The staff were nice enough, the cafe is small and intimate. The interior is decorated in a way that reflect some aspects Brooklyn pop culture. My breakfast sandwich was expensive. I paid a little over 15 dollars for one sandwich; however, the sandwich was amazing. Simply one of the best breakfast sandwich's I've ever had. The shop appears to be decently popular with locals as many of the different bagel varieties were unavailable when i arrived (before noon on a weekday). Unfortunately they are not a local chain, this is the only location so it won't be my go to spot but it'll will definitely make for a nice treat every so often. read more

Do not order online / order ahead. It will do nothing but cost you 30 minutes. My wife ordered our food online- Bam, hit with a pickup time that's 30 minutes away... kinda crazy for a couple bagels and a sandwich at 9:40 on a Friday. I know from previous experience that they have a rude sign about not showing up before your order time- so I didn't even try and waited until my pickup window- only to get there and be told they don't have Everything bagels but could give me rainbow instead. I think 30 minutes is long enough to figure out how to make more bagels or save the bagels you have for orders you've already taken. I've now spent 55 minutes waiting to get the food I ordered. This is the owner/managers fault. This place had terrible processes that need to be fixed. Update: got home and realized they gave us Salmon Cream cheese instead of plain. Hubby brought me here after he tried it from another co worker, who also recommended it, and he swears up and down that they are so good. Not a fan of ham, eggs, or sausages in my bagels so I said screw it and get the Flatbush - the price definitely scared me a little but if they were that pricey, they had to be good. *spoiler: it was!!! We have been coming to this location for years and it used to be pretty good. Over the last year or so, we've noticed that the restaurant is either understaffed or a had bunch of young kids working that can't get anything right. Today in particular, we ordered 3 bagels. Two of those were ordered with egg, cream cheese, and tomato... one with bacon. Both were ordered toasted, and actually I asked a second time to make sure it was toasted (because the guy at the register seemed irritated that we were there and aloof to our presence). We were also told the only spreads available were plain and honey. Neither bagel was toasted and the bacon was close to raw. Additionally, the tomato was missing on one of them. We have continued to come here in hopes of a glimpse of the past, but it's been too many times of dissatisfaction. We'd rather drive further to the next closest bagel place for service and quality. read more

Coming from Boston, Brooklyn Bagel is the best here! We stocked up on plain, egg, everything and onion! They are all great. We freeze and use when needed and they are always like fresh. Their flavored cream cheese leaves me a bit wanting, as the scallion had no flavor other than the few scallions on the top. All in all, we will be back when our stock needs replenishing read more

I've been wanting to try BB ever since it opened but due to their hours I haven't been able to - they're closed on Mondays (my day off lol) but I was finally able to venture over the other day. It was so great!! I'm from New York and I can appreciate a fantastic bagel, other bagel shops in town just don't compare to BB! I've heard that they ship their water from NYC for the PH level, and I guess it really does make a difference! We got rainbow bagel sandwiches which were huge and yummy. The sweetened iced coffee was also delish. There isn't much seating inside, mainly a counter along the wall with stools. We were lucky to go on a nice day, there is some patio seating that was great. The food, the vibe, and service is amazing!! I overheard someone talking about their lox bagel with cream cheese. I didn't want lox (though I'm sure it's tasty), but I got a BOBO with bacon. It was absolutely scrumptious!! The bagel is an egg bagel so it's light and fluffy. Did I mention how large it is?? The flavors of the egg, cheese, hashbrown, and bacon were amazing!! We were excited to try BB, thinking it would be authentic NY bagels. These are not bagels, they are giant rolls shaped like bagels. Very doughy, soft crust with no chew. Another New York bagel spot checked off our list! Brooklyn Bagels has a fun set up with New York memorabilia hanging from the walls. There's a bar with maybe 6 or 7 seats, and one table to sit at. Once we entered it was clear that they do a bumper take out business with a fairly long line. The menu is posted nice and big up front, and once you get close enough, you can see all the bagels on the wall! The line moved pretty quickly, and we went ahead and ordered two bagel sandwiches, 1 plain holiday bagel (it looked so cool!) and two of the sweet Italian iced coffees. I'm usually a "creamer with a bit of coffee" kind of girl, so I was disappointed when the woman taking our order told me that the coffee is pre-mixed, so they can't add extra creamer, oh well! I ended up adding some half and half that I found on the table with all the condiments! The bagels were out in about 15 minutes, and we were on our way! Unfortunately, the sandwiches fell a little short for us. The bagels themselves were a little dry and not very soft/chewy. However, the holiday bagel was DELICIOUS with a hard outside and chewy inside-- the perfect combo! Maybe we just caught them on a bad day because they seem to have a pretty loyal fan base. They are so good that they sell out of some items. And they have a wonderful steady flow of customers. Ya know what that means. Brooklyn Bagels is great. Our first visit we had no idea what we wanted to order . We walk in and they had a sign saying "The BEST PASTRAMI in Virginia Beach! Shipped from N.Y. And steamed for 14 hours. It is avocado, bacon, lettuce, snd tomato. It had a wonderfully perfect avocado, nice and fresh tasting. We loved it. Third weekend , this time we get there at 11 A.M for us this is early for lunch but I was so determined to get that dang PASTRAMI. The lady remembered me. She looked excited to see us. I said you know what I'm going to ask? She said she was happy to say they have everything. YIPPY!!!!!! I got my PASTRAMI on an everything bagel. My husband and I bit into the PASTRAMI and it was out of this world GREAT!!!! Once you see the picture I'm sorry but it is going to make you drool. You get your choice of sides. I'm not a big fan of the sides but that's ok I can only manage to eat half of a bagel sandwich. They are very filling and delicious. But some people like the sides. I did get their iced coffee with Italian milk. It was pretty good and my husband loved it. I'm glad we had to get other sandwiches because now I know all their food is great. I love carbs! Which ultimately means I love bagels! I ordered a dozen and two cream cheeses for pick up on a Sunday. I'm so glad I did because it was stressful just going in and picking up the order with the amount of people in a line. Our order was ready on time. The cashier was so nice! Bonus, they give a military discount! We got poppyseed, onion, garlic, everything, blueberry, biggie smalls, plain, and egg. I was hoping the onion and garlic bagels would have onion and garlic in the dough not just on top. I always felt that give them more flavor. But, other than that they were delicious. I wish there was a place like this on the other side of the water. The cream cheese was nothing spectacular. We will pass on that next time and just order the bagels. read more

I have, and will continue to be, on the hunt for the PERFECT bagel in Hampton Roads. And I gotta say, Brooklyn is DAMN close. I want to give it 5 based on the bagel -- HUGE, delicious, popping delightfulness in your mouth. And I DARE you to eat a whole breakfast sandwich, because I managed half and I was starving and ate the second half the next day. The space is small, but they have done well with COVID and social distancing from my experience. Everyone had masks, and the other customers respected the distance rule. I ordered the Bacon Egg and Cheese on an Egg bagel for my sandwich, and then picked up a Rainbow and a "Cookie Monster" bagel as extras for later. The BEC Bagel was very good. Filling, the bagel was great, the bacon...somewhat lackluster, the cheese sort of a Kraft single texture. And I like having choices on the eggs, but it only comes scrambled. Later, I gotta say the Cookie Monster (which was a vanilla infused bagel with oreo cookies in it) toasted with cream cheese was an amazing snack. The rainbow bagel looks cool, but it's just a plain bagel in terms of the flavor. In terms of Hampton Roads bagel shops, this one is the CLOSEST to what I want. I just want them to have a whole wheat or cheese option. Maybe they used to pre-COVID and I just am on the receiving end of the limited menu. I'd drive the almost hour from my house to stock up from here if they freeze well (which I'm gonna try next time) -- and then make my own sandwiches at home with higher-grade ingredients on the back end. read more

I have eaten here many times and have always been happy with the food. I usually order ahead and then go in a pick up my order. Today, I went into the restaurant to place my order. Waiting for my order has its pros and cons. The pros are I know my food is being cooked to order, however, having to sit and wait gave me an opportunity to view the cleanliness of the restaurant. The store front windows had smudges and hand prints that did not look like it had been cleaned in quite a while. And the flies, dirt and dust that covered the floor was very unappealing. It was the weekend and i didn't feel like making breakfast. Luckily this spot was open for pick up/take out due to COVID. We ordered breakfast sandwiches and it did not disappoint. The sandwiches were pretty filling, I only ate half. The bagels were soft and the perfect amount of chewiness. It's definitely a good bagel. We also ordered a plain bagel with honey walnut cream cheese but I wasn't a fan of the cream cheese. I would want to try another flavor next time. We will be coming back here more often. Pricey and terrible service. Waited 45 minutes after they gave my order away to customers that came in after me.

I ordered a bagel with plain cream cheese and strawberry jam. I told the cashier twice that I wanted cream cheese just to make sure. Got my bagel 5 minutes later and received peanut butter instead of cream cheese. My friend politely asked them to remake my bagel and then asked when her bagel was coming out and they said it would just be a few more minutes. 20 minutes pass by and no one is cooking or at the register. My friend waited 5 more minutes at the register till an employee came up and she asked where her bagel was at and they said they just forgot about it.
