Very noticeable change in the quality of food over the last couple years. We used to rave about going to eat at Brooklyn Bagel, but something has changed. The food is not cooked properly (either overcooked, undercooked or they skim on the ingredients) and the service has become less customer oriented. We also don't see the long lines like we did last couple of years. This is not a good sign. Common reasons for businesses that decline like this is bad ownership, resulting in bad management, and ultimately bad service. It always trickles from top down. I predict Brooklyn Bagel will go out of business just like their other restaurant "Brooklyn Pizzeria", unless they make some serious changes. read more

Picked up a bagel sandwich here yesterday as well as half a dozen bagels. The sandwich was delicious and very filling -- the bagels themselves are enormous and the sandwich ingredients (I got the Sunset Park) were very good and in good proportion to the bagel. First off, phenomenal Bagels. But quality of Bagels doesn't make up for the lack of customer service. First, when you order online. You get charged 15% service fee. For what, probably to cover their costs in ordering online. Which it's not stated anywhere until after you order. Second, they charge you 3% for credit card processing fee. Third, you can't bypass any of those fees because they don't pick up their phone during business hours. Fourth, their email on their website gets turned back saying that it doesn't exist. Fifth, that means that you have no way to talk to them to order on the phone or even speak to them. 18% up charge. On the customer's dime. Sadly, I won't ever order online again. And I highly don't recommend ordering online to pay their fees. read more

My favorite bagel spot in VB. This is located in the red mill commons area. Plenty of easy parking. We ordered online, they quoted that it would be done in 25 mins. We showed up 10 early & our food was ready for pickup at the counter. I got the Brooklyn LT on a garlic bagel with scallion spreed. I do regretted not adding an egg, but otherwise, it was definitely delicious. I love all the flavors. Garlic bagels are definitely top tier in my opinion. My husband ordered the Crown Heights sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. That thing was amazing. I definitely recommend trying this spot, you will not be disappointed. read more

I came to Brooklyn Bagel indecisive and they recommended me this bagle that's not on the menu. (I dont remember the name but) It has potatoes onions peppers and eggs and you can get any type of Bagel with it. I opted for the everything bagel. This bagel was DELICIOUS. I also got a pumpkin spice bagel and although they didn't have pumpkin cream cheese the honey walnut cream cheese was EVERYTHING I didn't eat both my bagels they are huge and very filling but I did have a taste of both. read more

You often stumble on great things by accident. This was the case with Brooklyn Bagels. We originally went to the shopping center for another restaurant. When we arrived it was closed so we needed to find another lunch spot. Yelp led us to Brooklyn Bagels 300 yards away. After reviewing the menu, I decided on the 5 Burroughs on an Everything Bagel. It was great! Bacon, Sausage, Ham, 2 fried Eggs, and Cheese. So hearty and so good. The bacon was crisp and the sausage and just a hint of spice. The fried eggs were cooled over medium with no runny yolk. The added flavor from the bagel put it over the top. They had a specialty Biggie Smalls bagel that I purchased for the next day. Bagel baked with maple syrup and bacon with additional maple syrup on top. It hit the spot the next morning with cream cheese. read more

Really good, fresh bagels! There's truly no bagel like a New York bagel & Brooklyn Bagels is legit. One visit made me a fan! It's located in the Red Mill Walk shopping center, between The Dry House and Pearle Vision. It's not a huge spot but it is totally enough for some seating and for the BAGELS! You go in and will see the wall in the back with the baskets of bagels, and menu above it. They have all the usual offerings - flavor, spread and sandwich options. I went with a toasted PLAIN with LOX cream cheese to go. Sooo good. Perfect chew and puff to it. I'm gonna (maybe one day) try to eat less carbs but today ain't the day. Staff - very friendly and efficient. I would definitely return! Come early to get the most options. Good bagels go quickly! Disclaimer: I love bagels! I've been wanting to come here for months and my mom finally got out on that side of town and it was everything I hoped for! The atmosphere is casual with pictures of New York (Brooklyn) framed for a traditional diner vibe. There is a variety of bagel flavors that is updated periodically... when we were there options include egg, everything, salt, onion, plain, jalapeño cheddar, pink (for Valentines) and blueberry. They have traditional butter and cream cheese options as well as a number of egg/cheese/meat bagel sandwiches. I opted for the pastrami and Swiss sandwich on an everything bagel and my mom got the chicken salad on a plain bagel. All bagels are toasted on request, so if you want toasted... just ask! The pastrami was flavorful and soft! It was the perfect amount of saltiness. (If you eat pastrami, you know what I mean... some pastrami is SO salty it's like you need to chug a bottle of water immediately after.) Things are looking up here! We've been back a few times since my initial review and things have gotten better. The service, both in a peed and quality are most improved. There have been a couple of occasions of missed items in the order but the staff has been quick to correct the issue and very apologetic. I absolutely love this place, first time customer today and I was more than impressed with the menu and the service. For those not aware they filter the water to match the pH levels of New York to make real bagels. Water is key in the process. Anyway back to the food, I ordered two just to try them out, first I got the Jackie Robinson which is Taylor Ham(not pork roll you south Jersey heathens) egg and cheese with salt, pepper, ketchup on an egg bagel. I said SPK and the lady taking my order knew. That's how I knew I was home. Second was the Rockaway which is bacon, ham, sausage egg and cheese SPK on the everything bagel. Very skeptical at first due to the pricing- 12$ for a half dozen bagels (some items on the menu are even 16$ !) With a be very small space so not much space to sit and eat aside from a few counter seats. HOWEVER These bagels are delicious! I came here with my mom this morning because I love New York bagels. It was just okay. I ordered the everything bagel with butter, bacon and Swiss cheese with an iced coffee with Italian cream. I assumed the bagel would be toasted, but it wasn't, therefore the butter wasn't melted. Luckily it was spreadable butter, so it wasn't hard. If the bagel had been toasted, I think it would have been much better. I'm willing to give it another try and will ask for the bagel to be toasted next time. My mom got a similar sandwich, but with cheddar cheese and her cheese wasn't melted all the way. It was expensive too. For our two bagels and iced coffee, it came to $23. The lady at the counter was super nice though. She asked us if we liked pastrami and when we said yes, she brought us a generous sample of the pastrami. Service was slow too. There was one guy working the grill, but if the bagels aren't a even being toasted, I don't feel like it should take as long as it did. Like I said, I'll give it another try but I wasn't super impressed. read more
