They have let the restaurant fall apart with maintenance repairs and full of stock visible to customers (e.g. plates, sodas, cleaning stuff). As someone who is originally from Brooklyn NYC, I agree with the consensus on most of the reviews that the pizza here is pretty good. That's not why I'm writing this review though. I'm here to highly recommend the fried calzone. Omg, perfection. They do them either baked or fried here and since I grew up eating them baked on the East Coast, decided to try their fried version with spinach. Seriously, it's so good. Tastes like a savory zeppole filled with creamy ricotta, melted mozzarella and a small amount of spinach (which honestly was probably the right amount since too much spinach might have made it watery). It is fried so there will be oil on it but I didn't care. Next time might try baked, but will probably get another fried one with it, lol. UPDATE: I ordered a Large Pie to go and I'd like to say there was a big improvement from the last time we ordered! The sauce was much better, the pepperoni was better (you can see the difference from my previous picture). The crust was crispy and not doughy like my previous review. First of all I had reviewed this business in the past but the original owners passed so I am revisiting this pizza place. The cook has retained the original recipes and the food mostly tastes the same. The place was relatively clean and the service was a bit slower than in the past. Chicken wings were hot and flavorful. These are true sized wings so you should only order 6 per person for a side dish. They did not have the Sicilian pie so I ordered the Bronx meat and veggie topped slice. The sausage hero was very good. Soda machine was down so they only had cans. Excellent flavors good atmosphere. My advice is to call in an order ahead of time. Parking is plentiful. Finally, after 20+ years, we have found a place that produces a Sicilian pizza as good as the ones we left behind in the New York-Philadelphia corridor! Brooklyn Boyz came highly recommended by another east coaster, and we decided to try it "old school" style -- order by the slice. The crust was thick and chewy, the red gravy and cheese were nicely balanced, and the overall taste experience was very good. I also decided to try the garlic "knots" which were not among the best I've had -- e.g., the garlic was raw and added after the knots had baked. Despite this disappointment we will be back ... maybe to also try one of their Italian sandwiches. The place itself is a bit worn and needs some upgrading. Our group thought the pizza was pretty meh and we agreed we'd likely never order it again. That being said, the Sicilian, when air-fried the next day, was GREAT. It tasted like a crunchy, Detroit style personal pizza. So, that being said, I just may get the Sicilian again, but put it in the air-fryer first. Surprisingly, the Sicilian had no protein. I came to this place traveling home from a beach trip because I looked for a review for New York style pizza. First of all at 6 pm on a Saturday there was a very limited amount of slices left. Small amount of toppings and just plain pizzas. There were not making anything else. I had to order off the menu (and only menu with prices taped to the front window). I did not want a whole New York style pizza at $30 (I came for the sliced choices I thought I may find according to Yelp review). I ordered a turnover style Sausage roll $15. No fountain drinks or ice available (this restaurant is inland in a strip mall not near beach) so I had to go next door to get the soda I wanted. My son got his Sicilian style slice heated and I waited..and I waited..until 25 minutes went by and asked and they had not even started my order! The kitchen is slow and the kicker is they do not cater to dine in customers waiting to eat. There was only one other group of customers sitting at a table. My order was in line with the orders being taken over the phone. They told me it would be another 20 minutes. ( I was told that while I was ordering someone snuck in an order in front of me on the phone) I needed to get home so the only reason they got another star was because they offered to refund my money but I wish I would have chosen another NY style pizzeria instead. read more

I will say the new owners of this place do seem overall nice and they are accommodating for things if you ask. The food is basically as good as it's always been. Came in with a friend and ordered some slices and mozzarella sticks then sat down. Was waiting on our food when a rush of people came in. One group of people who came in was a guy and I assume his daughter who was visibly and audibly pretty sick. They sat away from us so it wasn't an issue. Flash forward the woman up front gave our mozzarella sticks to the man and his daughter. They opened them, tried them and placed the lid on top and brought it back to the front stating it wasn't theirs. Two men were ordering at the front and said they wanted them to which the lady at the front originally told them they could have. So their hands were all on them as well. She took them back from them and I watched her go behind the counter, take the lid off and put a paper plate under them and bring them to us. We said we couldn't accept these to which she seemed stunned that we wouldn't take them. Finally she did take them back and I watched to make sure they were actually making new ones. I'm sure this is a health violation which is why I'm writing this. After coming here (suppose I should have before) I looked at the health reviews and this example seems to fit right on the money. I think I'll give it a bit before I come back. There's definitely things I miss, like them having a soda fountain and just more options for things. I have gone there a few times and will continue to go. I wanted to let you know about the times I went and tried different items. There are a lot of different pizzas that they have on their menu. First time I went there to try their pizza and found out that they make Lasagna pizza! Wow, that was a really cool pizza menu item so I ordered it. I loved it. I love lasagna and now I have a new pizza place that has the best pizza flavor combo. I love pineapple, onions and pepperoni, now for me, it's all about Lasagna pizza. I keep telling my friends how much I love the lasagna pizza, and it's my favorite. I went back a different time and tried their wings. They are very delicious and crispy. I asked if they bread them there, and yes they do. Another time I tried their Sicilian pizza, it's a deep dish crispy crust. I can usually only eat one piece it's chewy, and crispy on the bottom. I found that they don't always have those, so it's good to call ahead if you want one, they take longer to bake than the regular thin crust pie. Their location is in a really easy location to stop and pick up a quick bite or take a pie home. Right off the 78 and Jefferson. Call ahead to order your pizza or order it on Slice. It was my first time at this location this past weekend. Typically the family and I go to the one near the Dunkin Donuts. Our go-to is the Lasagna Pizza which never fails to be delicious.
