Easily the best pizza in Indy. I'm usually not a fan of honey on pizza but they do it right. Not too much just enough to add the flavor. The crust and dough have an incredible texture and crunch. The sauce was fantastic. They sprinkle on some of the topics (basil) after it's cooked to make sure it stays fresh and not soggy. The seating is limited so make sure you plan ahead for that. We literally had to plan in advance when to get this pizza. Like we ordered it a whole day in advance to pick up at 5:30 PM the following day because it's such a popular place right now. Even before the barstool review this has been on my list to try just from the tons of positive Google reviews. The people that complain about the wait time are missing the point - it's that popular and in demand and a small pizza shop. If you have any ounce of patience, use it and order ahead so you can try it. It's on the expensive side. All said, it's still well worth it. The pizzas are huge and very authentic New York. Hamilton county has tons of pizza places with brick oven doughy crust, but not like this New York style one. It's crusty and thin, but not doughy. Super airy and flakey - by the time you get to the last bite of the crust it's honestly messy and crumbs are everywhere. You could scrape the bottom of the pizza and hear that crackle.The tomato sauce seemed like true tomatoes, not a sauce with a bunch of additions. The Parmesan on top gave it some saltiness too. We had onions, sausage, and pepperoni toppings - they don't overload them, it's like the right amount to be able to appreciate the pizza as a stand alone and the toppings. It's locally owned too and from the interviews I've seen, you can tell they just care about making great pizza and keeping it as simple as that. Overall, I'm impressed. Brooklyn Style Pizza - can't say that I've ever had a Brooklyn style pizza...until now! Apparently a Brooklyn Style Pizza is characterized by a thin and crispy crust. Crust edges are "sturdy" so it's foldable and the toppings don't fall off. Slices are cut so each is very large - to fold of course. The volume of toppings are "balanced" to not dominate the taste nor appearance. The sauce is designed to be more tangy and less sweet. Lots of fresh mozzarella cheese to pull everything together! This Sweet Pig pizza was delicious! The sweetness comes from a honey drizzle. It is aided by the sweet fig jam. Applewood bacon provides the "pig" flavors. There aren't many other toppings by design. The pizza has a nice bed of mozzarella with dollops of ricotta cheese. The crust is almost wafer thin and crispy - if you like that. I ate my slices straight up without folding them. Overall...a Brooklyn style Sweet Pig pizza was really good! The cheese sticks were outstanding. A thick stick with a slight buttery-garlic baste. It's baked to a slight crisp. The inside is stuffed with deliciously stretchy mozzarella cheese. The garlic knots are very similar. Just smaller and no cheese filling. read more

Keep in mind: It takes a while to get your food here. At least, it did on the evening that I visited. We waited about 50 minutes to get our pizza. People who came in after us were told an hour and a half. The solution, if you're dining in and starving and can't wait, is to order an appetizer, because those come out relatively quickly. We got the garlic knots: 8 delicious bread balls covered in garlic and butter, which come with marinara sauce. These were so delicious! It was so satisfying to pull apart the knots and eat the layers of bread little by little. We ordered the pepperoni pizza, and the pepperoni they use here are my favorite kind -- the kind that turn into little, crispy cups that hold the pizza grease. Even my pepperoni-hating son likes these kinds of pepperoni! Another thing to know: There is one size of pizza. It's extra large, with 8 huge slices per pizza. Even though it took a while for our pizza to be ready, the wait was worth it! This is the kind of pizza that I like: The crust was slightly charred and crispy from the oven, and the cheese was nicely melted, and had that satisfying pull. It's the kind of pizza that's best eaten at the restaurant, because you want to bite into a hot slice as soon as possible, even though it burns the roof of your mouth. I was so excited to try this pizza! Unfortunately it was not worth the ride... They only serve beer and soda and it is by no means a sit down restaurant. There are limited tables which most are used for waiting customers because you will definitely wait! The cream soda and stuffed sticks were 10/10 and the sauce was superb! I get one of their selling points is "char" but unfortunately my pizza was overcooked. It was dry and barely had any sauce. I was expecting a flop, but that didn't happen. It could have been because we asked for extra cheese, not sure. Also, we dined in and my pizza was warm when it came to the table. If it weren't so far away from me I would try again because I did someone else's pizza that was smoking hot and looked amazing, nothing like mine. Easily one of the best pizza places in Indy! Definitely the best New York style pizza in Indy! The restaurant is hidden in a plaza in Noblesville, so it's not easy to see if you're driving by. It's mainly a take-out restaurant, but they do have a few seats inside. They have a few classic flavors and usually a special each week. Highly recommend the classic pepperoni, garlic knots, and stuffed sticks. Everything is so delicious and full of flavor! It is a bit expensive, but the pizza is huge like Costco-sized big. They do not offer olives, so we sauteed some at home and sprinkled over the pizza. A smaller size would be appreciated for my kids who don't eat leftovers but want just cheese pizza. My experience was not an 8.1. Had the cheese pizza. The taste was dominated by the "charred" crust. I'm really hoping it was just overdone. The sauce was impeccable and the best I've ever had. The cheese also great but less noticeable than the sauce. Either that level of crispness did not work for me or the dough just isn't that great. My family and I decided to try out this new pizza spot off of the recommendation of social media and were pleasantly surprised! First we noticed their very small menu, we knew with this small menu it had to be good and so we ordered their whole menu. Literally! I have to say it was BOMB! All of the pizzas were very tasty, tomato sauce tasted really good and so did the sticks and the garlic knots. This might be one of the best pizza shops in Indiana. Seriously! I drove out here several weeks ago to try this place, and was told they had run out of pizza. I was very irritated, and was told to try ordering ahead online next time. The staff was very snarky and gave me and my wife dirty looks when I simply complained about my bad experience to them. There is really no way for a new customer to know about this situation or order method without first visiting them on social media or coming in and being turned away, just as we were. I wanted to be reasonable and gave it another attempt before deciding to leave a review. Fast forward a few weeks, and we went to try it again, hoping maybe they had improved their process a bit. This time I tried ordering on their website at around 4pm (3.5 hours in advance) for a 7:30pm pickup. I added everything to my cart on their site, went to checkout, and pickup time was no longer available, tried pushing the time back a few times and got the same error. It would not let me order in advance either. So, I thought I would go in and explain my situation and maybe they would be willing to work something out for me. Nope, they told me that pizza would not be available until after 9pm. As far as I can tell, getting a pizza here is basically by reservation only, however their process is extremely shaky at best. Maybe the pizza is good here, but I'll never know it. This is one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had, and I won't be trying again. Don't even bother going into their store front without having a secured order, there's no chance they will do anything for you, and they don't really care either. I see several other reviews on here with plenty of snarky replies from the owner, thanking them for their 1 star reviews sarcastically for their bad experiences and calling people liars while calling Yelp "trash" for keeping valid issues up. One of the customers in the lobby said he has to place his order before they even open to even get a pizza within a reasonable time frame. They seriously need to improve their order process. There are plenty of great places in the area that can handle the load of being a good restaurant while handling a large customer load, but clearly this isn't one of them. And your restaurant having good food doesn't justify bad customer service. Both are required for a stellar experience. Edit: I see the response from the owner, and it's more of the same snarky, "customer is wrong," type of reply that I would expect. You clearly don't think that people should be complaining about their bad experiences. That's not good customer service. I wasn't expecting a cut in line, I was just expecting some feedback or explanation on how I could actually order food at your restaurant in a relatively timely fashion. I received none of that from you or your staff on my TWO in person visits. Your basic advice from my first visit to "order online next time" didn't even work either. Your website literally would not let me place an order. Also, I didn't go "off the rails." This is reasonable, measured feedback. 3.5 hours in advance for pizza takeout is not what any reasonable person would consider "last minute," and if you can't accommodate such orders, then there needs to be a reservation only style of approach or something else that lets new customers know about this in advance. How you, as the owner, can't see that this experience is terrible for new customers that want to try your restaurant and know nothing about it, is at the least, lacking in self awareness, and borders on disrespectful of people's time. This is feedback from potential new customers. I'm not sure how you can't at least consider your process and how to improve your new customer experience, but it's your business, obviously, you can do what you want with it. Wow! This place is phenomenal. We are so fortunate that we live in Lochaven and can eat here a couple of times a week! Plan ahead! Due to high demand, you need to call ahead as its often 1hr+ wait time. Also, a big surprise to us, was that they have great ice cream and no wait for it:) We've had every pizza and even hosted a party where we got 8 pizzas for our office staff to try it. Today we stopped in to check out a new pizza joint. Brooklyn Char has it down from tasty top pies to crispy crust. It's likely one of the best pizzas we've had in a long time. The stuffed breadsticks were garlicky deliciousness full of cheesy pulls and flavor. The ONLY negative we found was that they don't have a menu posted, on paper, or even a website that details what speciality pizzas have on them. Having to ask about them was a thumbs down from us, as we couldn't quite hear the description over the kitchen noise and loud tv. I've been wanting to try Brookyn Char for a while and so when my husband and I got back to Indy after a long flight from the west coast, I finally got around to it. I tried calling the shop first because I had a question about customizing an order. They answered, put me on hold for 13 minutes, and then I hung up. When I tried calling back the phone didn't ring and it just kept saying the voicemail hadn't been set up. Because of this, I ordered through their site. Once we arrived we were immediately greeted by a friendly employee. I told her I was early and didn't expect my order to be ready and she let me know it was still being worked on. We took a seat, and our order came out about 5 minutes after the expected time, which was no biggie. The slices on this pizza are huge, and truly NY style. We had the Godzilla and I loved it, but be aware, it is HOT, and my husband couldn't handle all of the peppers so he took them off and I ate them. The pepperoni are cupped and top quality. The peppers with the hot honey is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. I also really liked their sauce and cheese quality. While I enjoyed the crust, I would say it's a bit on the chewier side for me, making eating multiple slices a bit laborious after a while. I wish it was a tad bit lighter/crispier. Overall though, great pizza and service. The space has a decent amount of seating, but the tables could have used some cleaning. read more

I'm an East coast transplant, grew up in Philadelphia and 10 years in NYC. I've been disappointed in the pizza selection around Indianapolis and was excited to try Brooklyn Char, especially since I live near the new location. After three visits, an honest review. The two fundamental parts are pizza are the dough and sauce. Here they really hit the mark. Dough is great, light, crispy, and a really nice cook. The sauce is also right on, tangy, not too sweet, fantastic. Then there's the cheese. The only thing to get wrong here is the proportions, and they miss the mark. Before the oven it's hit with both shredded and cubed mozzarella. It's just too much and weighs down the beautiful crust. The real sin though is after the oven. They fresh grate an egregious amount of Parmesan on top. Not only does this slow down the expediter, it all just melts down on the already too much cheese and makes the pizza almost unpleasant. I asked for "light Parmesan" upon ordering, but of course the expediter didn't look at the ticket. I was watching so was able to stop him from implementing the parm downpour, toning it down to a light mist. Pizza was much improved without it. My advice to the owner, cut back 30% on the mozzarella. Have the parm pre grated and give the pies a one hand sprinkle. You'll cut down on food cost, expedite faster, and put out an amazing pizza. Probably should figure out a way to prep the basil better too, watching the expeditor snip snip snip snip snip snip snip snip snips snip on to the pizza is torture. All in all I'll keep going back. I'll be sure to get there before it's ready and watch to avoid the parmegedon. Maybe ask for light cheese too. Also call ahead and order early. They really back up on busy nights. Good for them. If you have to wait for the pizza, that's probably a good thing. Wish I could give it 5 stars. But the cheese issue drops a star. It's an easy fix, I hope they make it. read more

Best pizza I've had in the entire Indianapolis metro. I spent 20+ years in NYC and I've probably tried most of the major shops there, from midtown to Brooklyn and Queens to downtown and Jersey. This place is legit. Nice fold, proper cupping on the pepperoni, great tang from the sharp hand-shredded parm. Staff and owner are super chill and friendly. I placed my order around 5:30 and it was ready for pickup 15 minutes later. At the time of writing, they only take carry out orders and hours are late afternoon to 9:00 on weeknights (closed Monday & Tuesday) and noon-9 on Fri & Sat, via phone or a Toast link from their website. After 6 or so it can get pretty busy with longer waits, but it doesn't matter -- totally worth it. Run, don't walk to this place my friends. It's solid. read more

The cost was a little higher than normal for two pies, but it did make more sense after seeing the size of the HUGE pizzas. Eating it, you could tell that the ingredients were fresh and the sauce was good. We have had a lot of east coast pizzas, so I went in with high expectations and it lived up to the hype.
