I had never had anything like the Cannelloni Florentina before, but it was very tasty. It's a smaller dish, but it packs a punch! The Tortellini in Champagne Sauce was so good that I cleaned the plate. I also really like the decor. It has an Italian home feel, with paintings, flowers, wine, and knickknacks everywhere (and apparently a lot of local history). The entire team worked in sync--bringing bread, refilling drinks, offering fresh grated cheese, clearing plates without rushing us, and striking just the right balance of friendliness and professionalism. What really set the evening apart were the personal touches. The matriarch of the restaurant (or at least who I assume was the matriarch) circulated through the dining room making sure guests were enjoying themselves. At one point she proudly announced that the osso buco was ready--a charming moment that felt less like a sales pitch and more like someone sharing something they genuinely loved. Before we left, she gave my wife and daughter sunflowers from her garden, carefully prepared with the leaves removed and stems wrapped in foil. Then she sent us home with fresh zucchini. Along with everything else, these folks have figured out how to make dining personal. It felt less like eating in a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's lovely home--where there is genuine pride and gratitude that you've joined them for dinner. That's a rare feeling today, and Casa Nuova delivers it naturally. And then there's the food. The Oysters Rockefeller were outstanding. The fried mozzarella was exceptional. The Pesce Fra Diavola--with clams, mussels, calamari, and scallops--was perfectly prepared and served in a sauce that complemented rather than overwhelmed the seafood. The veal scallopini was tender, beautifully seasoned, and expertly sauced. Even our daughter's simple pasta dish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Honestly, I'm almost afraid to go back because I don't know how they could possibly do better. Casa Nuova delivered one of the most memorable restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. That seemed to throw a wrench and there was much back and forth between the BT to the kitchen explaining what that meant aka do not cook the food with butter use olive oil- not so complicated, right? 30 minutes later - despite the kitchen staff not being busy- reminder, we are sitting at the bar and watch the cooks looking at their cellphones instead of working... The small portion of a couple shrimp and scallops arrive. They were panned seared- highly seasoned but tasty. Pasta arrived dry ? Huh? Who serves dry pasta- ugh? My chop was perfectly grilled and moist. I asked for the marsala sauce on the side since I don't like mushrooms themselves, but enjoy the flavor they can add. The weakest link was the mashed potatoes, served in two round scoops reminiscent of school cafeteria lines. Other than the shape, there was nothing memorable nor particularly flavorful about them. Next time I would try a different side and keep the chop. We didn't save room for dessert this time but will definitely get some next time. And there will definitely be a next time. We tried one of each. I tried the Knife and Fork Brisket Sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese. The sandwich comes with sliced brisket, house BBQ sauce, SOTF slaw, and a mission bakery sweet potato roll. My family tried the Pulled Pork and Broasted Chicken sandwiches, as well as the Smash on the farm Burger. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful.
