There's parking in the dedicated lot that wraps the building, but while eating there I got the impression that most of their business is takeout. I visited while in the area with my brother-in-low who used to live nearby - it's a classic no-frills pizza joint where you order at the counter and the food is made to order - I went with the stromboli option while my BIL went with a calzone and I must say that it was perfectly made in a classic NYC style (the ingredients are pretty specific with more spicy salami and a finer vegetable chop). In a word, delicious. The place is a bit divey like I wrote, no frills so don't expect china or cloth napkins, just decent food at a decent price. Service was about as minimal as you can get - friendly but for the most part you have to ask for anything that's not already at the table or found near the napkins/forks. My family and I have used their delivery twice to order dinner for our family. First of all, the delivery is excellent. Next, the pizza was delicious. The crust is perfectly cooked and the ingredients are good. Tonight I ordered baked ziti Anna Maria. There was plenty of sauce and the portion size is definitely for sharing or you can get 2-3 meals out of it for one. My husband ordered the chicken parm, which was also very tasty and flavorful. We came to check out this pizza spot on a rainy Friday with no expectations but I heard great things so I had to try it! I was impressed with the food! The gentleman at the front register was so sweet and nice. We ordered at the register and found a place to sit. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana sub with a side salad. I was impressed with the sub roll to begin with. It was toasted perfectly! The eggplant was a great texture as well. I had a bite of the pizza by the slice as well and loved it. Thin NY pizza is the best!! My only recommendation is cleaning the tables and dusting a bit. The food is fantastic so I would highly recommend trying this pizzeria! read more

Wow, what a fantastic, wonderful difference. I abandoned this place many years ago because they made slop. Did I hit a good day? Experience in the past was so variable. I ordered because they are the only game in town. I got some of the best, closest to NY style pizza I've ever had in the southeast. I ordered 6-xl, a mix of veggies, plain, and meat. Every one of these was a reminder of Jersey City (the true place for great pizza). Order was on time and staff were fast to expedite me getting in and out. And I like to show grace and re-polarize back in the other direction. It's a nice location in the Birmingham unincorporated community. The decor and atmosphere is that of a slightly modernized 50's diner. Tables were clean and well organized. Menu was of course NY Italian pizza diner style to include large thin slice pizza, cold/hot subs, calzones, Stromboli, etc. Food was reasonably priced to match serving proportions. Staff was kind, engaging, attentive, respectful, and prompt in taking order despite many incoming call-in orders. I ordered the pre-cooked ready to order pizza slice, and it was promptly reheated in the oven and delivered to my table. I have read the negative reviews for this place and whilst small businesses may make small inadvertent mistakes, that is not indicative of their over-all value or reputation, as is the case with this location. We've had pizza from here several times now. There aren't many places where you can still go in and grab a slice of your choice. This spot is a gem! You enter by the counter where you can select your slice, order your pie, sub, calzone, salad, wings, etc. there are stand up coolers with drinks and a fountain for soda around the corner. The slices are HUGE! We love this spot because it only takes one slice to be a meal and everyone can get their own. Otherwise, I'd never get Hawaiian -- since my husband and son are in the camp that don't believe in pineapple on pizza. So silly, but I digress... They also deliver pizza and we've done that for a party too. Great deal! However, there is something about this place that makes me really like visiting. Maybe some of the same things that caught me off guard the first visit - the radio going in and out, the old school red subway tile, the chipped counter -- it feels nostalgic now and gives this place character! I have been a loyal customer since the inception at Birmingham Village. I've seen ownership change and change back. Everyone has a hiccup now and then and I understand that but what I hate to see is a meal become a process. I ordered a Ceaser Salad this evening and what I got was a salad and croutons with the consistency of a processed feed. The entire salad with croutons was cut down to the size and shape of dice. Right angles. The dressing came separate like Burger King does and did not to me taste like Ceaser Dressing. Tried their Stromboli for the first time and it was good! Two suggestions to make things 5 star which are easy- 1. Heat up the dipping sauce (it was served ice cold) and 2. Close the door. This place is exhausting. They just cannot ever get it right, and this most recent fiasco will be the last. Used the Grubhub app to place a future delivery order for 7pm. The app confirmed a delivery would be made from 7-710pm. 715 rolls around and I call the restaurant. Supposedly the driver tried to deliver my food at 615 but no one was home.. well, there's a reason for that which would be the same reason I wanted it at 7pm! Soooo, the restaurant says they will remake the food and it will be delivered in 40mins. An hour and ten goes by and guess what? I have to call again.. this time the delivery guy had left 30mins prior and should be arriving shortly...ummm, I live 5 mins from the establishment. Long story short. Pretty sure I got the same food that they tried to deliver at 615. Disgusting!!! I did contact Grubhub and let them know of the disconnect in communication between the app and the restaurant. They were nice enough to give me a promo code, however the app has been deleted. Never again for either business. read more

I Love NY Pizza has been our go-to pizza place for more than a year only once have we been disappointed (the pizza was woefully under-baked. Having stopped in this afternoon, though, I decided that I can't go back without either significant changes to their COVID-19 precautions or a widespread vaccine. None of the staff wore masks or gloves. And they're actually preparing food for customers! I asked why no mask and was told "I don't know. I just like them, but we do temperature checks." It is common knowledge that temperature checks is not sufficient to check for virus carriers. To make matters worse, I just wanted to order a slice, which has been exposed to the staff for who knows how long. I love supporting local restaurants, but not at such an overt risk. By the way, their health department review had a "B" grade, in part for inadequate food temperatures. They're doubling-down on COVID risk. read more

My husband and I love finding new pizza places, and we kept driving past this one so we decided to try it. I'm glad we did! The people and the atmosphere are so chill it's relaxing. We ordered a large mushroom and since we were the only people there, it was quick! We went around 4:30 on a Friday, so we beat any "rush" I guess. Pricing was good. I don't like floppy pizza so this resolves that issue for me. If you like traditional NY style pizza, their standard cooking time makes a great pizza that is not soggy. The sauce is not sweet or tart and has a good, balanced flavor. Their cheese is not bland but is also not sharp. It also has a good flavor. We like their crust as it is also not sweet. Many pizza places use too much sugar in the crust. If you're looking for a good mom & pop pizza joint, check them out. Their pricing is very competitive for a better pizza all around.
