This is a great place for fine dining! I highly recommend it. The vibes of the place is coastal Italian. The staff was incredibly nice and gave really great recommendations. I got their Grilled 60 South Salmon and it was sooo good. I also had their veal meatballs and the Buffalo de Mozzarella. Highly recommend the veal meatballs. I revisited Sorella Vicina with my date and had a wonderful dining experience this time around. Everyone from the hostess to the waiter to the manager were very attentive and offered great service. I had the Mora cocktail, which was strong and slightly fruity and my date enjoyed an old-fashioned. For the appetizer, we had the artichoke hearts with lemon yogurt sauce. It was divine. Highly recommend it. My date had the lamb ravioli and claimed it as his favorite dish and I had the prawns. I loved the presentation, flavors, and textures. We finished off the meal with a slice of cheesecake, which was very unique with a crunchy texture and I think it had toasted coconut within. Will definitely return! read more

Restaurant Dining Roo The restaurant is in the Hamilton Hotel, and opened on Tuesday. Beautifully decorated. We ordered the veal meatballs, Bibb salad, bronzini, pappardelle, and olive oil cake. Every item was delicious. The meatballs were moist and well-seasoned; the pasta was fresh and the short rib was tender and flavorful; the cake was such a welcomed surprise as it was similar to pound cake, but elevated. The star of dinner was definitely the bronzini, which was grilled with lemon and fennel. It was excellent. The staff was extremely attentive, and Conrad, our server, was great. We were told that the menu is seasonal, so we'll return to try other offerings. read more

We walked in and got seated right away. Let me tell you, this place is the perfect spot for a fantastic date night. Seriously, it's so romantic! Our server, Adrian, totally made our dining experience top-notch. Every dish that came out was like a work of art and tasted absolutely amazing. A group of us dined on a Saturday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our server Ashley M was terrific. We got several appetizers (artichokes, burrata, and meatballs) and pasta dishes for entrees. Every last bite was delicious. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but oh, so good. We brought our own wine so can't comment on their list. The interior design is tasteful and the noise level was almost non-existent, a rarity these days in most US restaurants. Everyone needs to come here! The service from the moment we stepped in till we left was amazing. The staff was very accommodating to a peanut and tree nut allergy and very helpful with navigating the menu. After going around the area and asking for a table and being told "no" not even a maybe or let me check, we came in to a busy restaurant and the host worked with what seemed the manager or owner to find us a table, opened the private dinning room just so we can come in! Then the service was amazing starting from appetizers and drinks to entrees and even dessert. Everything we ordered was great including the bronzini, lamb ravioli, and short rib was just great. The service was great and my drink took a minute longer than normal and it was given to us on the house! This place is slightly over priced and I was not impressed with the food or service. I made a reservation on an app and called the restaurant to let them know that My Wife and I were celebrating a special occasion and my message clearly did not get to anyone on the front house staff. My Wife and I ordered an appetizer a salad a pasta and a main dish, the Bronzini. After bringing out the appetizer, our entire meal all came out at once: salad pasta and main course. Someone needs to explain to these people what the Italian words on their menu actually mean: Primi, Secondi, etc. when I told the server we did not want all of our food at once she said that she assumed we did. Frankly, she was young and I don't think she's been to very many nice restaurants that serve food in courses but the manager didn't bother to stop by and offer us dessert or anything either which would've been the appropriate move on their part.. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business almost half my life both in the front of the house and in the kitchen mostly, I wanted to explain to her that she should never assume anything and if she thought that we wanted all our food at once she should've confirmed with her table before stacking it full of food that went cold or looked more like a buffet at Golden corral. The ravioli "pillows "were far from light fluffy pasta and the sauce was a heavy meat sauce that was not impressive. The Bronzino was delicious but overpriced. The food was good but overpriced for what you get. Looked more like a place to see and be seen in Alpharetta so good for them. read more

Wonderful dinner, a great atmosphere, a beautiful place, and the service was outstanding. We had the Cacio e Pepe and Carpaccio -- both outstanding. Ahh, but we also had the octopus. Wow! My wife and I decided to roll in here after sitting in the courtyard of the Hamilton where we listened to a very good live guitarist. It was a completely spontaneous choice to walk into Sorella Vicina as we had planned to walk over to "Made", for a couple of appetizers at the bar there. We walked in and were greeted by Denson Boyd, the GM. We told him we would just sit at the bar and have some appetizers and some wine. He gave us a couple of recommendations for appetizers; the artichoke hearts and the octopus. When we looked at the menu, we decided to go with an appetizer and an entree, so we went with the "fritti artichoke hearts", which were prepared like no other we have had before. Excellent! Then, instead of the octopus, we went with the duck fettuccini (anatra fettuccini il fungo), which was excellent also. This was a seasonal dish for autumn and it was outstanding. Now feeling pretty brave to try one of their desserts, we went with the pana cotta with fig mousse, peppermint leaves and fresh strawberry and blackberry. Wow! Really tasty. Glad we tried a new place! The bartender was awesome also, but didn't catch her name. read more

We had a reservation today at 5:30 and got there early at 5. No one was there at the restaurant. It was completely empty yet we were not allowed not sit in a booth and when we asked to sit in another seat against the wall we were not permitted to sit there either. At this point I asked the hostess to speak to a manager and there was such a hesitation and delay that I walked to the back of the restaurant and said to please cancel the reservation we are not eating here. This is not acceptable. I made this through Resy. It is a Resy restaurant but I felt like we were treated as second class citizens. This is unacceptable. I ate here with some friends on Friday evening Jan. 13. Ordered the veal meatballs to start - hard like golf balls with no flavor. Ordered Bronzini as the main dish - again very little flavor. Not as fresh as the establishment proclaimed. Accompanying potatoes were as hard as a rock and cold. My dinner party had similar sentiments regarding food quality. I consider the restaurant "all hat and no cattle" Perhaps spend more money on the quality of food rather than the facade!! read more

Disappointing things: was very excited to try this place, as it appeared as if a new, authentic/modern twist on true Italian. However, I was very disappointed with menu items and service. Restaurant barely had any customers, yet the waiter rarely came by to check on us, even trying to get his attention. Almost no options for a pescatarian, much less a vegetarian or vegan person try to dine there. The also were not accommodating or willing to work with these and even the salad dressing is made with meat (lots of hidden meat in dishes that were not in menu description) and no other dressing or sauce options for those things. Ok. The community has been eagerly awaiting the opening of Sorella. As a frequent traveler to Italy and having grown up in an big city US/Italian neighborhood I've been lucky to know Sunday gravy and what a real Bolognese tastes like. Some of the best Italian Osterias and Ristorantes were in my backyard. So with few above average Italian options in this northeast Atlanta suburb we were truly excited about the hype and the anticipation for a new, upscale Italian place here in Alpharetta. With no fanfare Sorella quietly opened its doors a week or so ago, and I, unknowing, and happily, found they were open by accident - by visiting their website and seeing a Resy button on their home page. WooHoo! The Saturday night arrival. Well, anyone who is aware of the building in which the restaurant resides (The Hamilton hotel) and who knows downtown Alpharetta knows that you should be prepare yourself for the parking experience. If the hotel valet is there it may be a wise choice (and you may note from my other reviews I don't usually recommend valet unless we're at places like the Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental). Garage parking is a block away. It always could be your lucky night and you could find street parking. If so, pick up a lottery ticket, too, on the way home. The space is very nice. Open. A mix of stone walls and Italian-style floor tile. Mirrors. Industrial and chic lighting, together. All create a cool look, though on this evening the lighting could have been a bit more dim and romantic. The large, modern-decor bar is basically in the dining space, so you're kinda eating bar-adjacent at most tables or booths. One TV is over the bar, so if you want to watch college football and the baseball playoffs at the same time you're out of luck. Good news is that you can watch your game from your table while dining, if that's your thing. If you're on a romantic date maybe ask for one of the few non-bar-view tables on the side. Electronic house music is the musical backdrop. I guess that's the trend these days further setting the old school Italian experience apart from creative Italian-fusion. Sorella has a full bar and the drinks we ordered were all very well crafted. The wine list - I was on the prowl for a Super Tuscan - was interesting and heavily Italian. It had only one Barolo, however, and no Brunellos. There were a couple nice Catalan Priorats, a tasty fave of mine. Notably there were a number of higher-end Italian red blends, none of which I was particularly familiar with, so - at $120+ a bottle - it would have been nice if the server or a sommelier had explained and sold the list. Note to my paisans.... The menu is not old school Italian. It's more progressive with interesting chef-inspired creations like pear and tarragon cacio y pepe. Short rib bolognese pappardella. Lamb pillow ravioli. We ordered the pappardella ($27), herbed prawns ($30) and a swordfish special. Pane e coperto is common in Italy as a bread and service charge. It can range from 50 cents to a couple of euros. At Sorella there is no pane e coperto or complimentary bread service. There is only an option for Servizio Pane ($15). For bread. Ouch. We started our meal with the veal meatballs ($17) and several gem lettuce salads ($14). The meatballs were medium sized balls of goodness in a light pomodoro sauce. Interestingly the chef included a gremolata, typically an ossobuco accompaniment, that brought a little lemony flavor to the dish. The gem salads were tasty, though nothing special. 4 stars and 3 stars respectively. The pasta at Sorella is made in house by hand according to our server, and it was up to those wonderful expectations. But as a believer in the notion "if you show me your bolognese I'll show you how good of an Italian restaurant you are" I thought Sorella's short rib bolognese was very good and indeed progressive, just not what was hoped for. Call me old fashioned and give me traditional bolognese, please. 3.5, maybe 4 stars with the pasta itself stealing the show. The herbed prawns brought a nice presentation of plump shrimp with heirloom polenta, cured tomato, some frisée and a pancetta vinaigrette. Fellow diner mentioned the shrimp were not hot. 3.75 stars. My wife had the swordfish special which she said was a solid 3.5 stars. Shoulda tried the branzino? Service was really great at times, and sometimes the bar and kitchen was backed up. Being newly opened we will return and surely that will tighten up. No room for dessert, so we'll save that review for next time. I am giving Sorella Vicina 4 stars now because I can't give 3.75 stars. There is definitely room for improvement in all areas at the newly-opened Sorella, and we hope they find their niche in the Alpharetta restaurant scene. Note to chef: Don't be afraid to go old-school-classic as the restaurant matures. And put a couple more Barolos and Brunellos on the wine list. read more

Eight of my family members ate at Sorella Vincina last evening. Each of us ordered different dishes of which some were better than others. The restaurant was basically empty and the server was just okay. Personally, I will not be going back as the waiter rolled his eyes and made a face when I mentioned I have a food sensitivity and wanted to know which dishes had particular ingredients. The appetizer I had was their artichoke dish which was lightly fried and frankly boring. I had a filet which arrived with the wrong side and was prepared incorrectly... the waiter blamed it on the kitchen and had the dish re-done. At one point the kitchen staff was very loud, which was odd. This restaurant had high hopes for me, however, really fell short. read more

The restaurant was slightly disappointing. Many will consider it good, and it might even get better as it matures. Wait staff was a little off, but not horribly. The kitchen was fast, which saved the food from off tempo meal servings. 3/4 of the way through our appetizer , we realized , they hadn't taken our main plate order so I asked a passerby to find our waiter. The presentation of the food was very good, and so was the wine selection. However the taste of the mains, as a consensus, by all 4 at the table, was not explosive, or of the level that was going to win this establishment a "we must come back here" . The ambience and wine selection was good, except for the music, which we were told was to give the establishment a more modern feel. The music was a little too loud (everyone kept asking waiter to repeat himself) , and the genre boarded on Rap/Jungle with heavy drum sounds and unrecognizable songs. We got an apology /rationalization for their choice from the owner. Therefor it indicated , he thought it was right for his place. My initial thought is, some will like this place, but for us, it is still a miss as a great Italian Restaurant in Ga. But put it on you "Lets Try It" list. The end was less of a great experience, when the waiter returned with our check , saying I didn't put my credit card in the leather folder.
