It is now obvious to us that the owner "Kevin" is NOT Kevin Brooks. In the 30 + years of the Brooks team working on all of my vehicles, we never had a complaint about the service or the work. My husband wanted to surprise me by putting a remote start in my car. He made an appointment to have the system installed last Tuesday, January 3, 2023. He was told it would take 2 to 4 hours to get it all set up. At 4:30 pm., we hadn't heard from Brooks so we called. "It's not ready, we'll get to it tomorrow." Wednesday AND Thursday, again no call from them so we called. "It's not ready, we'll get to it tomorrow." My husband asked, "Don't you think you should be calling me with updates rather than me having to call you only to find out you are going to keep my car another day?" "We're really busy she says." "Yes, but I had an appointment on Tuesday, it was supposed to take four hours, not four days." Friday at 4:30pm, no word on our car so we call. "It's not ready. Our service men have called out sick." My husband asks, "so this means we are going to be without our car over the weekend?" She says, "Yes I'm sorry for the inconvenience." Inconvenience is an understatement! I'm worried that they either don't know what they are doing, or they screwed something up and are trying to fix it. TODAY IS DAY 7 and if I don't get my car back, I will need to get a rental car and charge them for the costs. This ridiculous and so unprofessional. This would never happen with Kevin Brooks team. My daughter's move from LA to Portland was a complete disaster when the van overheated. She was driving the ascent when the van temperature started a scary increase on a unseasonably hot day in late July. We turned into a gas station in Mt. Shasta city, checked anti freeze level and waited for engine temp to return to normal. After 40 minutes, we believed the van was fine, until we drove across the street and the check engine light went on. Parked the van and eventually called AAA for a tow to the nearest garage for service and hopefully a quick repair. Thankfully, AAA put us in touch with Dave at Brook's Complete Auto Repair. Dave agreed to pick up the van for storage in a secure lot until the next day. Since we were in a hurry to get to Portland for an appointment with movers, I asked Dave about a tow to Portland. He said his trucks were already committed to long hauls the next morning but he could arrange the tow about mid day. I agreed but told him we needed to be in Portland earlier and asked him to get us off earlier if at all possible. Within an hour, a flatbed driven by another Dave, a cheerful, talkative young man, drove in and said he was going to tow the van to Portland. Dave, the flatbed driver, was off an hour later after safely securing the van for a tow. Trust me, Dave is smart, responsive, professional and can do miracles! Popped a tire up at Mount Shasta, managed to put the spare on and crawl down the mountain to brook's. They didn't have my tire size in stock (not an everyday sized tire) but they managed to order it and it was delivered the very next morning! The actual tire change was quick and only took about 20 minutes. These are very honest, professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly people. If you're having any type of car problem on a road trip and you happen to be nearby, this is 100% the place to go. read more

I needed to my car towed from Lake Shastina to a repair shop in Weed, thats about 8 miles, I called Brook's the day before and set it up for 9:00 AM in the morning. NO SHOW They Didn't call to let me know anything so I called and then they said there was a 15 car pile up at the Ski Park in Mount Shasta and everyone was there clearing cars and they would be here as soon as they could. A BIG FAT LIE. At about two My wife called to see what was going on and then they said they had a truck down, They didn't even call to let us know there was a problem, so we called Black Butte towing and they sent a truck out right away and the driver told us he was at the Ski Park the day before and they had it cleaned up that afternoon. I needed this car taken to a shop right away, its the only 4-weel drive we have. This is not a way to run a business. They set me back a full day with a new snow storm coming in. I can't believe that people could run a business this way and give some BS. If you want to do business with them thats up to you but I will not. You can't treat people this way. Its a good thing it wasn't my wife stuck on a road some were. I can't even tell you how unhappy my wife and I were. They want me to give a star rating to them and I have to give them a 1 but they do not even deserve that but reluctantly I did. read more

I stopped in with an auto repair problem, and was "greeted" by a young-ish to perhaps middle-aged man who was easily one of the rudest, most unhelpful and condescending people I've ever encountered at any business. I had a perfectly valid new car warranty policy in place, but he dissed me and implied it was a forgery (!). I needed help, and this mentally disturbed man (or perhaps he just has serious personal problems and needs to take them out on someone) would not even give me an estimate but just jerked me around and treated me like trash. A woman customer who was also there (a local resident who evidently knew this man) even remarked on how rudely he was treating me, but this man took no heed. Needless to say, I left and did not get my car fixed here. What kind of business has an employee (who is the public face of your business) who treats people like that? This is the worst auto repair business I have ever stopped at. Don't come here--ever--even if there's just a chance you will run into an employee like this. Worst auto repair place I have ever driven into. There are better choices nearby. read more

Kevin, you should fire this jerk who threatened me with his "got your address" comment. I spent $97 Friday on a lube, oil, filter with a wheel rotation. I have patronized your business for years. Your valued customers (I assume?) deserve better than this. Could have rightfully given you one star but the way you stepped in and were very nice and understanding pulled you another star. I had a fantastic experience at Brook's Auto; I arrived close to 3:30pm on a Wednesday, with five minutes' heads up, and the gentlemen were kind enough and quite willing to provide a fix for my leaking heater core for my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. As I was travelling to the British Columbia border on Thursday afternoon, I needed to arrive the next day, so I didn't have time to have the entire heater core replaced, which is quite a long job, so after calling numerous parts stores for the correct fittings, they bypassed the heater core and stopped the leak. A week later, the car is running just fine, thanks to the incredible work. read more

I moved to Mount Shasta a few months ago. The truck I brought up is a 1985 Ford F-250 diesel that was in poor condition. I took it to brooks and they did an excellent job. The truck was inspected carefully and fixed quickly. They called and told me what the problem was every time they found one and talked through how they were going to fix it. The guys there are very professional and do a great job. Chris in particular knows the truck, and is very helpful in understanding problems with it. Brooks automotive has taken time and effort towards fixing this old wood hauling truck. I will continue to bring it to them because they do a good job. They have earned my trust and I will be bringing in my 1967 International Harvester 1200b pickup truck in soon. A big shout out to Travis, Roger and Dan (I think?!) for their help with my car. My wife and I were in the middle of a move from the SF bay area to WA, driving my passat full of stuff the same day we had to vacate our apartment, when all of the sudden the EPC and check engine light on my car came on in the middle of the mountains in Northern CA. Getting the codes from my ODB device and app, I realized that it may have been too dangerous to attempt to continue driving the car through the mountains in the middle of the night so we spent the night at a hotel in Mt. Shasta, and took the car to the nearest open shop around the next morning, which was Brook's. Travis helped me out when I came in with the car and, despite not being sure what was wrong with the car, he went to do some research and figured out what the problem was. Due to my car being a VW, they didn't have the parts needed to fix it so they would have to order them from Sacramento. I had no choice but to leave the car with them and rent a U-haul to complete the move as there were no car rentals available within 100 miles. Roger was nice enough not to charge me anything for the diagnosis and initial inspection of my car. Once finally arrived in WA and rested, I contacted Brook's to follow up with the repair. Apparently my car didn't want to cooperate and didn't want to communicate with their scanner so they were unable to do any repairs to it. Since I needed my car in WA ASAP, after 2 weeks, I finally decided to contract an auto transport company to take my car from Brook's to WA as I didn't have the time to drive 16 hours there and back just to get my car. I called Brook's the day before the car was supposed to be picked up, and Dan was nice and friendly, just like all the times I called them on the phone to inquire about my car. He said he talked to the guy picking up my car and everything was good to go. I received my car 2 days ago and I'm taking it for repairs at a local shop in WA tomorrow. I truly appreciate that they tried to do the best they could to fix my car, despite not having the parts, and the fact that they didn't charge me a single penny for diagnosis and storage for 2 weeks, just because they were unable to do any work on the car. That's some serious honesty and professionalism you don't see everyday. Sadly I no longer live in CA but if I were to live in Mt. Shasta someday, I would not hesitate to bring my car (not a VW though) to Brook's. Their approach and professionalism is the best you can ask for! read more

Roger and Mike from Brook's are EARTH ANGELS. Like, for real. I was making the move from Oakland to Portland, when my 1999 Volvo decided to poop out on the side of the freeway right outside of Mt. Shasta. At first, the CHP officer seemed pretty pessimistic that we would even be able to fix the car, let alone have someone see it until Monday (this happened on a Thursday evening). Come Friday morning, my mom and I checked in with Roger about possibly scraping the car for parts. He told us it may not be worth much but he would take a look. We got a call about 20 minutes later, and Roger told me not only was my car definitely not a junk car, but that the issue was an easy fix. We heard from a local taxi driver (who was also amazing!) that the guys at Brook's are honest. That was 100% our experience. Within 3 hours they had my car up and running again all for under $200 to repair. I can't thank these guys enough for their time, skill and heartfelt repair. They are literally the reason I made it up to school on time. They are amazing, and I would highly recommend. Not only did they help us get back on the road, but Roger shared that he gives out fruit to hikers on the PC trail. This shop was a real find. Was traveling south pulling my 5th wheel trailer and had brake issues. Pulled in and needed help quickly, and these guys were my saviors. The not only repaired my truck, but they got right on it and i was on the road again in 31/2 hours. Fantastic group of people. When you are on the road and have problems you are at their mercy. I felt from the moment I walked in the door they would be square with me. Dave at the front counter was the best. Come Monday, we called in and Roger, in spite of a huge load of work that had come in that weekend, managed to fit us in (replaced our alternator) on Monday. Great service and great prices. I asked for a quote from Brooks Complete Automotive before I took my 2007 Subaru in for a 105,000 miles service. They quoted me $800-$900 for the service, and said that they does this routine service ". . . all the time." When I picked up the car, I was shocked when they told me the charge for the service was $1,250.00! All the guy said was that he was shocked too and blamed the increase on the high price of the timing belt replacement kit. BEWARE. This place told me what I wanted to hear to get me to bring my car in, then they charged me way more than their quote, with no prior warning. I won't go there again. As we arrived in Mt Shasta late this past Saturday , I realized we no longer had brakes on our 5th wheel RV trailer. With the mountains of southern Oregon ahead of us, I knew we could not go on. Sunday morning calls to local mobile RV repair services yielded no hope. We were resigned to have to wait until Monday for repairs. In the meantime, I crawled under the trailer where I discovered all that was needed was a minor repair to one end of the steel brakes line on the back axle. With only hope of learning what service might be available Monday morning, we stopped by Brooks to see when they would open. As we pulled into the parking lot, Christopher was sitting in his car and came over to greet us. Long story short, he opened the shop and performed the repair in about 10 minutes, refusing to take any money for his work. His presence was truly an angel sent from God (I hope you believe in such things. We do.) As a result, I was able to go back and replace the line and get back on the road that same afternoon. We are now in Winchester Bay, Oregon where the temperature is 45 degrees cooler than it was yesterday afternoon. Christopher saved us an extra day's cost of an RV spot and put us back on schedule. Came in with a breakdown engine management go slow on my F150 late in afternoon. Dave found a way with their busy schedule to fit us in to find the fault and see if it could be remedied. The problem was throttle housing broke and water escaping from the cooling system (yes two faults). Next day they managed to get the bits and find out what the fault was on the cooling. They fixed it enough to get us back on the freeway and home 260 miles away. They crew kept us in the loop, quoted accurately and did the work in the timescale they said. Cant ask for more than that. If they were closer would take all my vehicles to them only! Proper good job. And the chopper motorcycles they have on display that the owner built will make any man jealous! Also reading the very few bad reviews below gotta say the guys were polite and helpful and very customer centric. Jan 2013 Wife 'n I were on our way to Klamath Falls, Oregon on a Friday evening for important family business. (4 to 5 hour trip from our homestead..) Transmission gave out completely 6 miles South of Mt.Shasta City. Fact that it was the beginning of a weekend, we new we not going to find a shop open that could handle such an issue till Monday. We were towed into town to this business and was assured that our vehicle was being stored under heavy security. My brother-in-law picked us up and we continued on our trek to Oregon and took care of family business. Made it home safely Sunday evening. Contacted Brooks Auto Repair Monday morning. The manager Roger gave us the 'not-so-good-news' of the transmission in need of a complete overhaul. For those that don't know, very-very expensive type of repair. The vehicle was already at 160,000 miles and been through one tranny with the previous (original) owner. Having the vehicle transported back home is estimated to be a $750-$800 bill, that's before repairs.. We were/are not in the financial status to be able to afford this kind of invoice. As we are still presently combing over our options, it didn't hit me till later what the cost of storing the vehicle was going to be. We are already two weeks into the situation and I am thinking how are we going to pull this off The stress level is already getting to a breaking, , now this. I nervously called up Brooks to inquire what their daily fees for storing the vehicle is. Roger answered, greeted me in a positive tone. Asked how the Mrs. and I are doing.. (he caught the word that our 'family business' in Oregon was attending my wife's grandmother's memorial service and having to take care of personal family belongings..) He showed me courtesy and kindness throughout the conversation. When it came to the question concerning fees, Roger said "Mike under the circumstances you and your wife are under, their is no way we can charge you anything for storing your vehicle here. You guys take your time figuring out what you want to do. We will keep your vehicle from any harm here. No charge.." I was stunned. Wasn't expecting this conversation to go anywhere near this direction. When i am possibly about to utilize talents from a business I am not familiar with, I always perform research as far as the web can go. I found nothing but positive remarks on Brook's Auto Repair. (not one spit of negative) From my experience, that is rare.. With what my wife and I have experienced here, it gives us great pleasure to rank them with 5 out of 5 stars ! ! Today, I followed yelp's advice and went to this shop. My service light was on. Roger let me know that it was not as serious as the check engine light, and he showed me how to reset it, so I give him credit for that. Next, I asked him to help me with a brake light. I could have changed it myself, but I needed another person, not necessarily the help of a mechanic, to let me know which light was out. He let me know which light was out. Then, he didn't even know how to get to the bulb. I suggested removing the panel behind the light. He did. Then he examined the bulb, said there was nothing wrong with it, and he was going to have to do another deeper diagnostic. I then asked him to try another light bulb. He did that. It worked. All that was needed was another bulb. Then despite the fact that I had to tell him how to change the light bulb, he charged me $24 in addition to the cost of the bulb. I do not trust this shop. read more

Highly recommend Brooks Auto Repair. On our way to Oregon, our check engine light came on. Since we were only passing through Mt Shasta, Roger worked us into the schedule right away. While we waited, we were able to use the shop's WiFi and charge up our electronic devices, which we always appreciate when traveling. In an hour, a mechanic had diagnosed the problem. Roger explained what had happened,, assured us we could get home safely, and after charging for only a half hour's labor, sent us on our way. He even gave us directions for a hike up Mt Shasta. So nice to find an honest mechanic when you need one. Thumbs up! read more
