I needed an estimate for some significant underbody dame. I had been to several shops and even with an appointment I could not get the damage looked and quantified. I made an appointment with Brooks and they took me at the agreed time and were done within half an hour. They were extremely helpful in talking through options as they could not do the needed work. I went to the shop in Timonium, not Towson. So take this review with a grain of salt. Don't go to the shop in Timonium. Shady and slimy. I came to them before traveling for Memorial Day. I was in a pinch with a leaking tire ahead of a three hour car ride to Cape May. I needed a tire. The guy at the front counter assured me he could get me right. Seemed very nice and wanted to help. I was wrong. He upsold me - I paid $270 for one tire that he KNEW I needed. Ok, I paid and figured I could go back in a few weeks for three more to even out my car. I went to the shop in Hunt Valley and they told me the tire that I bought was no longer in rotation and that they could not get three of them. The gentleman (I say that sarcastically) in Timonium offloaded his expiring inventory on a customer in need. Clearly taking advantage of a situation. However the Hunt Valley shop assured me could sell me four of the brand new model for the cheap price of $990! What a deal! Again I say, don't go here. I've been here once before to get a nail in my tire remedied. I forget the name of the gentleman who helped me out that time, but I was very appreciative of the time he took to explain to me why my tire had to be replaced instead of repaired (it was a side wall puncture). We had a pleasant chat and I got recommended to a lovely Filipino bakery up near White Marsh. I got great advice to get wheel locks and possibly license plate locks if I were to live in the city. Now I'm back to get my tires rotated, and brought wheel locks with me, which they are able to install for me during the process. The service has always been pleasant, there's a solid waiting room near the back with free WiFi and a selection of self-brew caffeinated and decaf teas and coffees. I'll continue to come here for all my tire servicing needs. read more

Google maps told me to turn right into an unnamed road off of Bosley, which is not the right entrance for customers. Instead head north on York from the Bosley-York intersection and turn right on that same block into a decently-sized parking lot with the name of the store and Goodyear clearly visible. Needed a routine oil change before heading on a long cross country move. Called in earlier in the week to schedule my appointment, and they were very professional. Doug was behind the counter when I got there, and despite facing a line of customers and constant phone ringing due to being a couple people short, he remained patient and pleasant, taking care of all of us in a very efficient, timely, and professional manner. His conversations with staff and customers coming in and out were very friendly and showed that he builds a good relationship with them, and they all seem to trust him. If I weren't moving cross country, I would definitely be a returning customer! read more

They kept my car for over a month and were not able to do the repairs. When I picked it up the right front turn signal was broken out. I complained to the manager Tim and he said he would check the cameras and get back to me. Two weeks later and I still haven't heard back. I had an exclamation mark on my dashboard so stopped in to get air pressure checked. They did this right away for me and even told me that my rear tires needed replacing. I also had my battery changed a few months ago. They were able to do it right away and was quick! I would probably go back for their service -they also seem very nice although I have mot really interacted w them for much of any maintenance on my vehicle. I went back here because I had an issue with one of my tires (3 of them I purchased here and had a warranty for) and I needed an oil change. So of course the tire that was damaged was the only one that I had t purchased there. So I got the tire and oil change. So while I was waiting, so person comes up to me with car parts. He sits down and says, " your a/c and engine filters need to be changed bc these (pointing to the ones he was holding) are dirty. I replied that I only came for a tire and oil change. He said, "ok, well your lug nuts are stripped and worn; all of them need to be replaced" and shows me a lug nut he held in his hand. I repeated my statement again, "I only came here for an oil change and tire". He said," if something happens to your tire rod then who ever repairs it will have a hard time getting the tire off." I said, "that's fine". So a few months later I took my car elsewhere to get an alignment and one of my lug nuts are missing from my right tire! Also, they made me aware of major repairs needed that I was never informed of at this shop. And my filters were fine, I saw them for myself. read more

After getting oil changed at Brooks Huff, I started to notice a small leak that barely made a puddle after four weeks of parking in the same spot. I then took it back to them to get it checked out and I was told that I needed my transmission pan, gasket and filter completely replaced for $250. I decided to wait a few days to get a second opinion then noticed the small leak became an active leak after they checked it out. I would have big puddles after parking for only an hour. I decided to get the repairs done as suggested, then I was told it would be another $190 on top of the 250, for flushing the transmission fluid, totaling at $440. I was very skeptical so I took it for a second opinion to a nearby mechanic. He checked it out and said someone loosened the bolts to cause an active leak!!! He tightened it and the leak stopped. He did all this for free, while Brooks Huff tried to charge me 440 for a leak they caused!! read more

MD Safety Inspection - they reported that they'd found alignment and other issues that weren't present, then tried to quote me for a repair. Brought vehicle in for MD Safety Inspection, five hours later when I called to ask if it was done they said it had failed on alignment as well as "rack issues - power steering leak". I was told they were working up a quote (and that's why it had taken them so long to finish it?) to fix it for me. I obviously declined the repair as the car had been inspected in the state that it's from, four days prior, and had no trouble found by the dealer (still in warranty). Brought vehicle to the dealership that I was planning on using once it was registered/titled/tagged, and paid them to do another inspection. They found no trouble. No alignment issue, no leaks. Asked for double-check, showing them Brooks-Huff's results, and they said there was no way there was a problem, and provided me with printouts and visual evidence that there were no leaks and no alignment issues. I'm extremely upset that Brooks-Huff reported serious safety issues with my car when there were no problems. I feel that they were attempting to take advantage of me, simply because I'm female and not an established customer. You cannot tell whether someone's an engineer based on their gender, and I'm so offended that they'd tell me that there were safety problems that weren't there - vehicular safety is very serious. I have submitted a request to the business for a refund and have not yet heard back from them. Considering that I submitted a web request for an appointment and never got an email back on that (I called shortly after submitting it), I'm not optimistic at all that they'll do anything about it. Updated to add: refund received. Manager was gracious and a little contrite, other tech that was there kept trying to state their past service record in an offputting way, and another customer was there demanding a refund as well. read more

Brooks Huff is just fine for routine maintenance such as oil changes, alignments, and brakes. However, if my car wasn't more than 13 years old I don't think I would bring it here. The staff is always pleasant to me but I always dread bringing my car in because I know I will be stuck there for at least 2 hours even if it's just for an oil change. I feel as though they don't even begin working on my car until I ask for an update after being there for an hour. The quality of the work seems to be fine but I just never fully trust any mechanic. read more

They have me sold, I will be a customer for life! I recently experienced Brooks-Huff through a Living Social Deal for an Oil Change. Which only ended up costing me I believe $2-3 for the disposal of the oil. However, they were incredibly friendly, I walked in for my appointment time, which they were ready and waiting for me and had me in and out in 30 minutes, They by far have one of the nicest waiting rooms for an auto center so I had no problems spending some time watching tv and even chatted with another friendly customer. They are absolutely excellent, it was a little hard getting off of York Rd where they are if you are anywhere near rush hour, but for such great service I don't mind it. I look forward in returning to see them for additional work for my car! read more
