This review reflects my mother‑in‑law's experience (and our family's) after more than ten years of taking our vehicles to Firestone Complete Auto Care on Hoagie Drive in Bel Air, MD. After this most recent visit, that long relationship is over. The trust she had in this location has been completely broken. An A/C diagnostic was scheduled three weeks in advance. When she arrived, she was casually told the A/C technician "would not be coming in." No courtesy call, no attempt to reschedule, no acknowledgment that the entire purpose of the appointment was to fix an A/C system that was failing. After rescheduling, they kept the car for five hours and then claimed the repair was complete. John, the current store manager, told her that a full A/C kit was needed and had been installed -- and charged us for the entire kit. A second Firestone location later confirmed the truth: the kit had only been partially replaced, and the A/C still blew warm air. The shop kept the old condenser (see photos) in our vehicle even though the kit provided a new one. That is not completed work. It is negligence. The pattern is impossible to ignore: constant upselling, disorganization, poor communication, and now outright dishonesty -- led directly by the store manager. After years of loyalty, this is how they chose to treat a returning customer. We have filed a formal complaint and are requesting a refund. We are also sharing this experience so others in the Bel Air area don't go through the same thing. One star is generous. Zero would be more accurate. read more

I went there for tires. They upsold me for sparkplugs and wires. They installed the wrong wires which were too long. Almost a month later. The wires wrapped around my steering column pulling off a cylinder and causing damage. I have this in writing from the dealer. This happened when I was an hour from home commuting back from work. My truck was in limp mode so I was able to drive it back. The dealer was along the way so I stopped there. When the dealer told me what happened I called firestone. Who said they'd get back to me. They didn't. When I finally got ahold of the manager, he was a condescending prick who obviously didn't want to talk to me. On my original contact that person failed to tell me not to have it repaired and since the manager never called back, I proceeded to have it repaired. Now they deny any responsibility. Summary: They don't stand behind their work. Find a reliable mechanic. I hope this review saves someone a bad time. read more

On 5/14/25, I had a 12:00pm (noon) appointment for a simple oil change. I arrived at 11:50am and Emma greeted me, asked me some questions and took my keys and put them in a bag and handed them to a technician. It wasn't until 45 minutes later at 12:35pm my car was moved - it was not busy. At 1:35pm, my vehicle was done and moved around front and the technician handed Emma the keys and a paper. Ten minutes later Emma said to me she was working my invoice. Ten more minutes later at 1:55pm (2 hours and 5 minutes later) I paid for my vehicle. Emma said I had a bad tire and an oil leak upon changing of my oil. Waiting 2 hours if I knew then, I could have had the work done. Very disappointed in the long wait and service of my vehicle. I'm never returning and highly recommend to not patronize their business. Under no circumstances, especially when you have an appointment, should it ever take over 2 hours for an oil change, especially when it wasn't busy! read more

I would honestly put 0 stars if I could. This place made me wait 4-5 hours to change my tire. I was told that there was only one technician and he had 9 cars in front. That was fine, but as I waited 2 cars that came after me was serviced without an appt and had needed a tire change as well. Well now, as they say "if you are a woman they will try and squeeze that money right out your pocket". I try and give places like these the benefit of the doubt, but they proved me correct again. Recently stopped here to see if they could help me since I had a bolt stuck in my tire. Yes, you read it correct it was a bolt....not just a simple nail. I am explaining this to the guy and he keeps telling me that there's no way I am driving around with a bolt in my tire..it has to be a nail. Well sir I have been around and I know how to decipher between the two. Fast forward a few minutes and he walks out to my car and takes a look. *Drum roll please* what did he state he seen...YEP A BOLT!! *claps my hands* I thought so sir, I am a female but I know a little something something. Once we were passed what the item was in my tire, we moved on to how could he fix it. He started stating that I would have to buy a whole new tire to save it....ummmm no that is incorrect. I told him that was not an option due to the tire not losing any air as of right now so I know it was fixable. He kept stating no until I had a friend come up that yes was male and when he told him the same thing that I was stating about not needing the new tire all of a sudden his tune changed. He stated oh yes sir she doesn't need a new tire I was just about to give her a number to a guy that does great patch/plug work. So all in all I was not satisfied with the way I was treated as if all women just have no clue what their cars needs are. If I could give them negative stars I would. This review is for this Firestone store only. In Nov 2016I bought 4 new tires from them for my Chrysler T&C minivan. I have a TPM system and at the time they told me they would have to break the sensors on all four tires to get the tires off. What?! That's ridiculous right? Even more ridiculous is they now want to charge me $200 a piece to Replace them. So in theory every time I change a tire or get it rotated I would need to pay 200 per tire. I only figured out I got taken for a ride after my TPM system stopped calibrating the tire I originally went there for. I am now taking this to Corporate to recoup the bogus fees they charged me. read more

I took my car to the dealer for an oil change. The dealer did a complete car inspection...tires, brakes, wipers, fluids, air filters, etc. The only recommendation they had was to replace the brakes since they were down to about 2 millimeters. They quoted a price of over $300 for each axle. I left without doing the repair so that I could do a little price shopping. I found a coupon for Firestone Complete Auto Care, read the precious reviews and decided to give them a try. With the coupon, I was able to get the front and rear brakes replaced for a total of $250. What I didn't like was the big up sell I got. In addition to the breaks I was told I needed to replace my two rear tires, get an alignment, replace the air filter, cabin filter, wiper blades...all for an additional $968. Having just had the car inspected at the dealer a week earlier I questioned the validity of all of the recommended repairs. I want to keep my car running well and I will definitely make needed repairs. It is difficult to make an intelligent and informed decision about what repairs are necessary to make when you feel like you are constantly being up sold. The cost was better than the dealer's price but be prepared to get a lot of recommended repairs. read more

Worst Firestone I've ever been to. I usually go to the one near Harford mall they have amazing customer service and all around good employees who are always willing to help. But this Firestone is one of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I dropped my car off for an oil change and get my tail light replaced around noon and I called about 4/5 to check if the car was ready finally around 630 they said they closed the store but I was able to pick up the car when I got there no one opened the door I called and no answer. The manager on duty Seth relayed a message through one of the workers saying it's not his f**king problem we arrived after hours to pick up the car and we'll have to get it tomorrow. He was apparently in a rush to get out and he already counted the register and didn't want to recount the register again. Seth shouldn't be called a manager or even allowed to be a manager anywhere which the shitty service and response he gave. Very disappointing. read more

My wife found a discount coupon and took her car into this Firestone to have the tires rotated and balanced after having the Subaru dealer tell us the tires were still in good shape but needed the rotation and Balance. Wife received a call telling her the tires were too low on tread and needed to be replaced. They wouldn't do the rotation and balance without new tires. We took the car to another shop where for a second time we were told the tires had plenty of wear left on them and gladly they rotated them. Called and spoke what the regional manager about concerns with integrity and honesty issues. We didn't agree and somehow I must have been mistaken or misunderstood. Spent 20 minutes or more on the phone trying to see if they had a battery in stock. Called once and placed on hold by Javon, and after 9 minutes with no answer, hung up. Called again and was on the phone for 11 min again with Javon. They had the battery I wanted but it wasn't in their computer, so they could give me a price- so back on hold again. Finally a lady answered the phone ( who had a chip on her shoulder and was very rude). The price she quoted was $30 more than I was quoted by another Firestone who didn't have the battery in stock. I brought my car in for tires this year, 2019. I wanted a name brand but was talked into getting tires from China. He claimed he put those tires on his brother's car and his brother drives back and forth to college. When I came back to pick up my car, I was told that the right windshield wiper fluid was not working. I would have to pay ($$$$$$- almost $100.00) to have it fixed plus new wiper blades. I had just used those wipers two days before to clean the windshield from salt that was laid on the street, from light snow that fell, and both worked fine. I also had purchased brand new wiper blades at Salvo's the month before. Let's hope because I am female, that this was not something done to bring in more revenue. read more

I have to compliment the whole team at the Bel Air MD, Hoagie Dr. store. Don, Gus, and all of the other guys there have done a great job taking care of all 3 of my cars lately. (Sorry for not having more names but I'm horrible with names, even though I've talked to at least 3 or 4 other guys.) They did the state inspection and then some required repairs on a used car I bought (Durango). They were fair and honest and made the inspection and repairs as painless as possible, and they let me take care of the parts I wanted to do myself and then they re-inspected it. I dread state inspections because of all of the stories I've heard about people being scammed by the smaller shops. I'll send everyone to this store for their inspections that I can. They checked out our HHR and then recommended a great transmission shop when the problem was too bad to even properly diagnose at FS. That shop turned out to be really helpful but I'd have never known about it without Don's recommendation. They also took a look at the brakes for me when it was in and alerted me that Midas had not hooked up the rear drums correctly (there were loose springs hanging in there) and they didn't resurface the discs or drums properly. I ended up getting my money back from Midas and replacing everything myself. The FS guys did me a huge favor there by looking at that first though when I was busy and hadn't had a chance. I knew the care wasn't safely drivable and was able to get parts on order immediately and make arrangements to park it until I did the work. They took care of my Camaro's tires and alignment. I also appreciate all of the guys that had to come up to me to ask what all I have on my car and compliment it. That car is my favorite possession and I'm glad others appreciated it also. I've got lifetime balance and alignment on all of my vehicles now. I'll be back for at least those services, and maybe more depending on what I need and how busy I am when I need it. I like having a shop I can trust to take care of my vehicles when I'd rather spend time with my baby daughter than work on a car, or when I have to travel for work as I do more and more these days. All the staff at this location were very informative and super friendly. I went in for an oil change and ended up getting the inspection. Predictably, this revealed a need for a lot of repairs. Anyway, all the work was done swiftly and the technician brought me onto the service floor to explain the repairs that I needed. The prices were fair and I feel much safer on the road. This place has gone down hill tremendously! Do not go to this particular Firestone!! Poor, poor communication and customer service!!! My husband had an appointment for 11:00am to just find out the problem with a noise in the front end of his car. He called at 2:00pm for a status and was told they were currently looking at it and she would call him right back. He never heard from them, so he drives to the shop and arrives at 4:15 and the car is sitting in the exact same spot he parked it that morning and the mileage read "exactly" the same. They had NOT even looked at it. When we complained and said this was unacceptable we were told that "they were doing to best they could, they are down a mechanic."
