After a long and rough ride to York from Connecticut for a business commitment, I needed a quick all-around wheel balancing for my MINI Clubman. I phoned ahead and spoke to a cheery and helpful Bill Snyder, who said he could take care of me on-the-spot. 20 minutes later I was in his shop...and finished 20 minutes after that -- all in time for my lunch date. I have to admit I haven't driven the car (Volvo C30) yet but all seems OK. I went there with this car because I got tired of the Volvo dealer giving me a list of unnecessary repairs and/or replacements as long as my arm every year. Last year when I went for inspection I was given a list of recommended items which totaled over $1200. Brooks/Huff looked at the car's age and mileage and realized that a 15 year old car that has only a little more than 43000 original miles isn't driven hard and even the rear brakes that the Volvo dealer said "last" year needed replaced were OK due to limited use. Made an appt for an inspection. Was told to drop the car off and we would get a call before they closed at 2 to pick it up. NO CALL. Called a few minutes after 2 and no answer. My daughters car has an electrical problem. Left the car with them for a little over a week so they could trouble shoot the issue. Picked it up today and they said they couldn't find anything wrong except they know the battery is dead after a few days sitting. Wanted to pay them for their time and effort and Kim said it's no charge. They didn't find the problem. Fair and honest is tough to find in the car repair business. Highly recommend! I drive my car about 110 miles a day and I was starting to have issues piling up, I was ready to just scrap the car.. I called and talked to Bill, he was able to squeeze me in on a Saturday and fix multiple problems. The cost was not bad and they were great to deal with. Quite honestly I extremely disappointed with this service when it came to a simple fix with an EVAP issue. I had a check engine light come on one day and automatically took it to Advance for them to run the codes, find the issue, and determine if the vehicle was safe to drive to a shop. I keep up with routine maintenance and have never had a check engine light come on in any vehicle. My normal oil changes were always done through Brooks and Huff, but no additional work. I had called and made an appointment for the following day. They needed to run a full diagnostics test to find out exactly what was wrong with the Durango...the one EVAP code was not enough. The diagnostic test cost $150 dollars. I gladly paid as I wanted my vehicle to be stable and running correctly. The issue they thought was causing the code was the ESIM since they ran a smoke test and there were no leaks anywhere. They replaced the ESIM part. They also had noticed that my inspection was due in two months and completed a courtesy inspection. I was told that both my year shocks were out. Running with a Dodge Durange RT those shocks are at $400 dollars a piece without labor costs. One week later, the check engine light had come on again on my way to work. A coworkers husband offered to come and check the code again and look at my car. The same code was reading and he took a look at the evap system. The purge line was completely cracked. It was a large crack and easily detectible by eye. This was replaced. My check engine light has not returned within two months since 10/20/2021. It was time for my inspection to be done. I was already upset with the service and resorted to finding another shop. I had made them aware of the history and that I would need new shocks as advised. They ran the codes to ensure that the EVAP was taken care of and completed a visual inspection. My evap code was no longer in the computer, but Brooks and Huff failed to mention that the computer programming had a recall by Dodge. They also informed me that my shocks were no where near needing replaced, but that I did need new breaks as they were sitting at a 2/10mm below the safety minimum and was informed they would not pass inspection. In the hands of another shop (1334 Auto) everything was taken care of timely and honestly. Another item that Brooks and Huff failed to mention. This entire experience has made me feel that because I am female they were trying to pull the wool over my eyes and were looking for high priced items to be replaced first and continue telling me that more and more items (that truly did need replacing) would need work as well. They did originally say on the phone it could take 6-10 trips to the shop to truly figure out what the issue is, but an uncertified un licensed gentleman could find the original problem in one hour time. Then to be informed that I was blatantly lied to. I am not righting this review to receive any sort of incentive, quite honestly they could offer me thousands and I will never be a returning customer due to this experience. I am unsure if it is because I am a female or this is their nature, but I would highly suggest going to a more trustworthy shop. read more

My husband and I needed new tires so we decided to give this place a try. Bill Snyder helped us. And I wish I could give 10 stars. They are amazing. I have a lifted truck with tires that were way to big (bought it like that) I took my truck out there and together we decided which tires to go with out of numerous options. They ordered them and even had them on the Same day. They offered to stay for a bit extra for us to pick up our truck after work. I am very happy I chose them. Incredibly disappointing i have been a regular for several years now and was always given positive results and a car given back to me free of problems but at this point over he past year the quality of service has decreased drastically for example, this last time i went not but a day ago i asked two sensor to be address break lights (replace break pads) and and engine light (my engine was running lean, too much oxygen in the gas tank or something) when i am informed its done they tell me they reset my sensors and ran the car and the lights didnt comeback on and didnt do any actual inspection of the codes or issues the sensors displayed, i take the car then under the impression problems are solved i didnt even make it back to my house before not only was my engine light back on but the break pad warning light back on (included in some VW's) this was disappointing i can not only not recommend this place to fix your car but i can provide a multitude of examples for why this place is not somewhere worth trusting with one of your most valuable assets, and I can only wish those of you that continue or begin going to this place the best and sincerely hope that they provide you with something beyond lazy incompetence because at this point that is all i have been provided lately, so now im out of a day off and my car is still nowhere near where it needs to be. read more

My husband has changed my own oil now for 6 years on my Toyota Highlander. I got a Living Social coupon to get an oil change from Brooks Huff. He was really busy at work, so I thought we'd let them do it. He goes to change my oil after that, and they over-tightened my filter so much that he broke 2 filter wrenches trying to get it off! He wasted his Sunday afternoon and destroyed 2 wrenches attempting to do what he had always done before with ease. The hassle that trying to save a few bucks has caused me, as well as the cost of getting new wrenches was SO not worth it. He had to put all the old oil back in the car just to be able to drive it over there to get them to loosen it. He barely got an apology and was given no offer to compensate us for any of loss of money or time. The Toyota dealership confirmed that they exceeded the torque recommendation for our car and that is not the proper way to do the work. I will NEVER do business here again, and would caution anyone else from doing so either. What a shame that this supposedly "neighborhood" business doesn't care to treat you like a neighbor.
