My wife and I have been to both the old and new locations many many times, and i have to say, the move was absolutely for the better. I applaud the owners for the way they managed the move. They clearly thought out and identified what the potential pitfalls were and made some key decisions that kept the service and quality top notch through the transitional phase. The biggest of which was reopening with a paired down menu. Fewer choices at first glance doesn't seem to be a win, but it allowed them to execute everything that was there, very well. The menu has since grown, and has even added a nice seasonal section, which thus far has contained all winners. Brooks Place also gained a much greater, and in my opinion better, beer selection from the move. It is impressive, especially for being up in the mountains (though the wait staff seems a little under-educated on the beer list). There are good selections of rotating seasonals that are usually very well selected as well. There are also a good number of TVs that make it a fine place to watch a game, but the overall comfortable and homey atmosphere really makes it a good choice anytime. The food - It's surprisingly good. I don't know if they got a new chef for the new place, but everything i've had has been an order of magnitude better. The blackened blue burger is ridiculously good, perfectly seasoned, juicy, and always cooked to requested specifications. The fried pickles are also awesome. Writing this has made me hungry. We came here after zip lining with Denver Adventure Tours (which was awesome). I ordered the chicken kebabs, and my son had the bacon cheeseburger. First, I didn't taste his cheeseburger, but he seemed to like it and ciabatta is a nice touch. The patty looked like a performed, frozen patty. Sad, but oh well. The fries were crispy and nicely seasoned. My kebabs looked pretty. I asked for no pita and more salad, which they graciously provided. The salad was lovely with kalamata olives and feta on romaine. My only complaint was that the chicken was dry. Super dry. Stick to your throat dry. Tzatziki helps but just not enough. Looked like a fun happy hour bar to visit, but as I was with my son, I can't really comment on that aspect. read more

We stopped here on a Friday evening on our way up to camp at Kenosha Pass. There are not many dining options as you head South on 285 and I'm so glad we stopped here to try this one. I read other reviews and was intrigued. They had a good selection of wine by the glass. Other yelp reviews persuaded me to try the salmon and I was not disappointed. It was cooked to perfection and the pairing with the quinoa side dish was delicious. My husband tried the gyros with a side of mac and cheese. The patio was relaxing and we loved watching the humming birds while we dined. They kindly let us sit our pup on the patio (we respectfully kept her just outside of the patio) but they offered that she could sit by us and offered her water! Brooks Place has been our reliable go-to for take home orders since the pandemic hit. Their customer service is fantastic and we love the buffalo chicken wraps (now off the menu so hopefully they put it back on!) and everything else on the menu. We have sat outside on the patio on several occasions and always respected how they operate while taking safety measures. read more

So my son picked this place I looked at the reviews and said fine as most of them were due to the service ... don't do what I did. Go someplace else. Beer was cold that is the best thing I can say. Oh and the beer cheese sauce for the pretzels was great, however the pretzel bites were BLACK! And yet they still served them - I let it go. Potato skins came out almost burnt again we were having a family day (my son is in for a few days) and we had been hiking so we ate them. Then the burgers came out. OMG I almost lost my mind. My Med burger was let's just say overly well done. Yet the cheese was not melted. I finally had it asked my server for the manager. Apparently he WAS the mgr. are you kidding me and you served that food?? He did take off the pretzel bites, the pot skins and my burger and our bill was still over $50. HORRIBLE!! Recently I had lunch with a friend at Brooks.I knew the food is marginal at best because I had eaten there before,however what really was upsetting is that they decided on their own to increase the tip amount I left.The waitress was pleasant so I left about 20% or $3.00 on a $16.00 tab. Brooks decided to take $4.50 .When I called them,they did offer a FREE lunch but since I never was a fan of their food to begin with ,I declined and asked for my money back.Never in all my years have I experienced such outright deception ,while it is NOT the $1.50 I am upset about,it is the fact that Brooks decided what amount I should be tipping. I have been to brooks many many times. There food is always excellent. If there happens to be a mistake with our order it is quickly fixed. Staff has always been very kind and welcoming. Meh, not much to choose from in Conifer and this place seems to get most of Conifer's business. We come here a lot based on slim pickings in restaurants but that isn't saying much. Everything here from food to service is hit or miss, mostly miss. After being disappointed with many of the spendy entrees I usually settle for the burger and it's usually cooked wrong and served with wilted lettuce. If you're lucky you might just get an edible sandwich. Tip: the salmon on the kids menu is the best option but about as bland as you'll ever taste. Sure would be nice if a Five Guys with booze opened up here in Conifer, it would probably put this place outta business. read more

The chicken pesto wrap is fantastic!! Pair it with tots or fries and their yummy homemade ranch for a great lunch or dinner. I love their seasonal menu changes that always offer new favorites and keep the menu fresh - so needed in such a small town. Utterly ridiculous. I go to Brooks with a large group once a month and have always have subpar service at best. Just today we went in with 50+ people, the usual group, and were told we couldn't move tables, would be unable to split any checks, yet were still being forced to pay an 18% gratuity for the mediocre service. It's utterly stupid of the owner to not realize when a group is coming to throw thousands at your restaurant you show your thanks by allowing them to be able to socialize with one another on their terms. If your staff isn't trained well enough, or cooks organized enough, to support your business then you need to rethink your staff. read more

My recommendation is to take the Reuben sandwich off the menu until the cook knows how to slice a corned beef. I had a really difficult time cutting the meat even with a knife and fork and trying to chew and swallow. I finally gave up and mentioned to the waitress that the meat was improperly cut - not against the grain. This caused the manager? to come to the table and say "we know how to cut the corned beef, against the grain. " Not sure if she was a manager because she never even introduced herself before leading with the above comment. My comment back was that it was not cut against the grain. She continued on " then you shouldn't have eaten most of it." Okay. I thought feedback might be helpful but was taken by surpise how indignant and unprofessional she was. Obviously no manager or customer recovery training. I didn't ask for, or expect, anything off the bill. The manager then went in the kitchen and never came out the rest of the time we were there. Caveat: I did not expect much from a small mountain town restaurant to begin with but after my second visit, I should write a review. I'm not impressed, to say the least. We had some gin and tonics (okay, should not order this at a tavern in Conifer) and the tonic was horrible and heavy/sweet. Fine, let's move on to the food. The Buddha Bowl (another mistake) was ordered with chicken since they were out of salmon (they are out of a lot of things a lot, apparently). The sauce was horrendous and a bit too thick with no flavor. Some fish sauce + lime would have been far better, or even hosin sauce + oyster sauce. The chicken slices were RAW! Thank God I spotted that. So they took it back and did what- they chopped the chicken up, overcooked it, and gave me back the same plate. Wow! Of course, it took me forever to find out waitress who was coming out in the little cubby area where they process credit cards I guess. The manager (I'm guessing) finally came and helped me out. That was about 7-8 minutes while I sat there trying to get some attention. I left most of the plate since it was pretty un-edible. The Ribeye ($27) steak was chewy and a really bad cut. My wife left over half of it and at the rest, while cutting to find the good parts which were chewy but possible to chew up at least. The beans and mashed potatoes were good. The salad was decent though I only tried a bite. Of course, they charged us for that horrible Buddha Bowl which lay 75% uneaten,I doubt I will go back here. I only go since a friend lives closeby. If I do go, I will order a burger or gyro...maybe. Keep it simple. I'm just not sure the cook or cooks know anything about cooking and sauces. The service is pretty sub-par. If the food was cheap, that would be one thing. Still, I'll go try a burger sometime. They surely cannot mess that up. read more

I came here with a large group. Sometimes even when you call ahead when you have a large group you still have to wait for tables and whatnot. They were well prepared though. We walked in and could easily see the tables already set up for us. Oddly, we did have to wait for menus, but that wasn't too bad. The waitress took our orders pretty quickly. The restaurant's power had gone out for a bit and they lost a lot of food so they didn't have a few menu items, but the waitress was good at working out other options or substitutions with everyone. The food took a LONG time, but like I said it was 20 ppl and they were just getting back up and running and had a lot of food substitutions for the missing ingredients. When it did come it was very good. The waitress never really came back to check on us after taking our order (someone else delivered the food). She came back when we were done and did a few drink refills (that had been needed for a while), but most of the meal she wasn't around. Its always hard to get really good service with one waitress and a big table so this is maybe understandable. All in all, even with the inattentive waitress, random food substitutions and long wait, the food was still good, the atmosphere was nice and open and it was a good time. read more

We stopped here on our way to camping in the mountains for the weekend. The atmosphere was updated and colorful. We were allowed to choose our own table. We nabbed a cozy booth. Our server was super sweet and attentive. We had some good draft beers: a seasonal pumpkin and a Guinness. One of the kiddos got their homemade root beer and it was rich an had a good licorice kick. The soup, carrot ginger, was outstanding, as was the turkey reuben. Both burgers were cooked perfectly and juicy. All the food was flavorful and freshly prepared. This review is based solely on the excellent customer service that we received . My boyfriend and I stopped here on a Friday around 6 for a couple cold beers. The place was packed. We were immediately greeted by a very nice smile and upbeat, helpful personality. (think it was the owner) ice cold beer(: we were waited on by like two or three different members of the wait team, but that was OK. I know some yelpers hate that. Very clean establishment. Clean bathrooms. We will definitely go try the food soon. I don't like sitting in front of a lot of people and I like the fact there are some private tables and outside seating as well.
