We had bkfast/lunch there today. I had a fig burger & fries. The burger was ok and had a good amount of fig jam. The side turned out to be (I counted them) 8 fries and a few tiny pieces of burnt potatoes . I asked for ranch dressing for my 8 fries and discovered when we got the bill that I was charged 50 cents for what was a 1/4 of the sm dish (like maybe a tablespoon). I payed $22.50 for a burger, 8 fries, 1 tablespoon of ranch dressing, and a flat coke: UNBELIEVABLE!!!. My husband had 1 biscuit & gravy. Well, the gravy looked like dingey water. There seemed to be only one waitress on duty and she said, "Yes, it's a bit thin today, but still tastes the same". My husband's comment to me was, "Thin like dishwater and zero flavor" Fortunately, 2 included sausage patties helped the taste a bit. After our food arrived we only saw the waitress twice; once to check if we needed anything after we were basically done, and once to bring more flat coke. Though we asked, she never refilled our waters. I have no idea what has happened to this cute little place, other than prices have skyrocketed... guess everyone wants an arm, a leg, and your firstborn for a piece of the pie. We'll be having a big family reunion in Shawnee, Colorado this July, expecting 100+ family members, but will no longer be recommending Aspen Perk Cafe as our "go to" spot for bkfast or lunch. read more

Usually good sandwiches and service, but this visit was below that. Waitress seemed harried even though there were only a few tables occupied. Ordered some chicken noodle soup that was inedible. Not sure if the chicken was beyond it's expiration date, but after taking it home to feed the dog, we decided it wasn't worth possible making him sick. I was there Saturday had lunch. The Chicken Club sandwich and potato salad. It was really good . It was not package sandwich meat thrown on bread. I sat out side and enjoyed the weather. Ate their Chicken ceaser salad today it was the worst salad I ever had in my life. The first plate went back there was no perm shaved cheese or croutons. Just lettuce dressing a little bit chicken. Stopped at Aspen Perk while hiking in the area. Wanted to have a local flavor and found it on Yelp. It's called a bar and grill but menu and hours are geared to breakfast and lunch. Closes at 2PM. Menu is extensive but priced slightly above average. When food arrived we' were blown away at serving sizes. The cost was more than justified. Wonderful flavor accompanied large portions. I can't tell you how disappointed I was biscuits and gravy were straight from a box, sausage links and ham steak were lowest quality I've had in a while, eggs were way undercooked. Went in on a Saturday morning. Most table were full. Found seating at the bar. No big deal. The waitress came over after a few minutes to take our order. I ordered 4 eggs side a bacon and side of sausage. My friend order 2 eggs bacon and toast, easy order you would think. It took awhile to get the food about 45min. I kinda understood because most table were full. Well our order came and I look at my plate there is only 3 eggs. I nicely pointed this out to the waitress and she snapped. "I don't make mistakes" she looked at her ticket and she wrote down 3. She said I will get you another egg but you did not order 4. Several people said to her that they heard my order and she was wrong. I just did want to be charge for the 4 eggs and only getting 3.The waitress, sorry she never gave us her name.We will call her the manager, because after my friend never received his toast and she argued about that to. We asked to talk to the manager she said she was the manager, by the way she was mean and nasty the time through. Now at this time it has gotten way out of hand with her telling us to FO and never comeback. Finally the owner came out this piss me off because she watch the whole thing. I told her I would not be back and to expect a review on here. Oh and the food came out cold. I don't think it was the cooks fault, I think the mean and nasty manager let the food set for about 20 minutes before bringing it out. This place was never really good food. They were all nice enough and the food was good enough. I was dogsitting and the staff were all nice to the dog. You do have the hitch your dog to a ring so that everyone is assured that dogs don't fight. There's some weird business with the tap water not being very good, so they serve bottled water. I'm anti-plastic, so I refused that and asked for club soda instead. The breakfast was good enough to return. It is a bit too much food for me, and I prefer Conifer Cafe if you are not sure which restaurant to go to. They do have full service coffee bar, and it was nice to have a foamy cappuccino. Absolutely dreadful. My food was not cooked properly. The waitress was pleasant, the ambiance looked okay, but beneath it all was an overall underwhelming experience. Flies in the restaurant which I did inform the waitress about, but really, how could you miss them, they were everywhere. If it was one or two, not a big deal. But they were dive bombing our food. The place looked good from the outside and I had a favorable first impression, but as time went on that initial impression went away. And it's not like they were busy. The place was almost empty. And they have very little competition in their niche market it would seem. I'm sorry I have to write this but it's true. I wanted fries with my order but they were out. They recently stated opening late for dinner. We normally go there for breakfast but decided to give their dinner menu a try. We had the artichoke dip for an appetizer and it was yummy. We both had the salmon and it was absolutely delicious. It was cooked perfectly, tasted amazing and it is definitely the best salmon in Conifer and the best I have tasted in a long time. You owe it to yourself to give this restaurant a try for dinner in addition to their breakfast. They are under new ownership and you can really tell a lot of thought and pride go into their menu. I cannot wait to come back and try some of the other dishes. I will let you know my thoughts on the rest of the menu once I have tried other dishes. Great cafe in the Conifer area. Loved the outside dining with the soothing sound of a water fountain. Gigantic menu with lots of great food choices. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Eggs came out a little over done and rubbery. I would have liked a choice of bread instead of the biscuits. The steak was delicious and the gravy was perfect. It's conveniently located next to a Starbucks so that a star alone in its self. Pretty large menu well Rounded items. I order the Flying Jays Burrito, my one complaint on this item is they would not accommodate when it comes to changing the style of eggs. I'm not a fan of scramble eggs and there's something about yolk and a burrito that really makes my inner child extremely happy. Unfortunately this establishment really let me down on this one along with the confusion of " you can make my burrito with no eggs but charge me for 2eggs over easy on the side????) I however I still ordered it with out the eggs. Driving up to curbside a really sweet girl by the name of Jorden came up really cheerful and more then welcome to help. She handed us our food made sure we weren't missing any condiments or Utensils. I have to say this was the highlight of my experience unfortunately because the taste of my food was poor. They skimp on the green Chilli and the burrito was dry and salty not pleasant or even worthy for leftovers . However they still placed the scrambled eggs on the side I guess to make sure I didn't change my mind? JORDEN is probably the only reason for the stars other then that poor execution and a real let down if your a breakfast lover. Did an order pickup and they gave my husband gravy for his burrito instead of green chili like the menu called for. They also forgot my son's syrup for his pancakes. Neither of us were driving back for those, super irritating. Called the restaurant and Sherry didn't seem to really care at all. Plus the hollandaise sauce is pretty bad.
