I'll start by saying we took our dogs here for over a decade, and they used to be wonderful. At our last appointment with our elderly dog in mid-June, he was bloated and sluggish. The vet said "this wasn't uncommon in older dogs", and said it was just "older dog shape". His liver values on bloodwork were "a little high". He ended up passing of liver failure less than 8 weeks later. We just took our other dog to a new vet - who found multiple issues that Brookside had overlooked (severe arthritis which was written off as "older dogs get stiff", and an ear infection the new vet described as chronic, likely there for at least a year). We had trusted Brookside to care about our animals. They made it very apparent that they can't be bothered anymore. read more

Love how they have calmed my Corgi so he can get his treatments. I love all the people who work there, so friendly and gentle.

Dr. Penrod is absolutely amazing. Our dog injured his shoulder about 2 months ago and unfortunately the x rays showed nothing. We tried some rest and he didn't get better. We brought him back in and she did more xrays (no charge) and showed so much care for his condition. She was honest about what she saw and thought. She is very caring and just wants the best for our guy and I wouldn't dream of taking him anywhere else. The staff is so kind and when they got a little behind they kindly kept us in the loop. read more

We have taken many pets to brookside, and have always had a good experience. We had a rescue that can't be in a crate or she freaks out, so when she was spayed brookside let me sit with her until she was sedated and they were ready to take her to surgery, it was very kind and kept her from being stressed out, they are quite expensive though, ihad to get my dog in for a scar on his head that was swelling and had started bleeding, so I really didn't think it was something that could wait , so they got me in on an "emergency " visit, $81 dollars extra for that,, but when I got there 1 person was the and just leaving not one other person was waiting and not one person came in the entire time I was there, so... I don't think they had to squeeze us in, so just to look at his head and give him antibiotics $160 (higher prices is why only 4 stars), so they are more expensive than some, but they are very good, Dr Henderson did surgery on my baby's head and he's doing really good and everyone was very nice and very sweet with my pup, and the stitches she put in were perfect, not one came undone, and he played super ruff like he always does , she did a great job on him. read more

Attention Staff, Thank You for the "Rainbow Bridge" card you sent me. Feb 16 is when I received it. In memory of "Princess Lei thank you for care and compassion that was very kind to get this. I have felt so much quilt she was diagnosed with a Heart Murmur a month before she passed and the Doc recommended a echo gram I couldn't afford one. I didn't think to ask if there was medication I could have gave her... She was 2 months 24 days from being 13. She had so much life left. I would never take any of my animals to Brookside medical center any longer. They used to be really good about seven years ago when Dr. Meyerhoffer was there she took really good care of my lab I have who has severe allergies and other issues now that she's older Dr. Jensen is screwed up more than anything. She gave her the wrong imitation and then refused to take it off the bill and made us pay for her mistake she is rude and condescending and I'd honestly don't know why she became of that! Most recently they refuse to give my dog heart guard because I was going to get it through pet meds yet they refilled her other medications just because I was purchasing the other medications from themWe all know if your dog goes off heart guard he can leave them open to getting heartworm disease if my dog becomes ill in the meantime I'm gonna have to find another vet to go through the process again and now she's due and she's out I think it's utterly irresponsible and greedy of this Dr. Jensen and I wouldn't even call her a doctor honestly she's just a greedy buyer beware consumer beware do not take your animals there it's a rat race first the receptionist tells me they're going to fill it I go down there purchase the other medications and then they deny the prescription what a bunch of horseshit. As a update since we are in a pandemic and couldn't get in anywhere my husband called and asked for just a short supply once again a different story yes this time fine. Two days later no three days later a smoothie girl called me and cost me about this review said she wasn't going to do it long story short I looked up my old vet who is an absolute angel and she got the prescriptions for us! Why because she cares about animals and that's the thing about this place they don't care about animals and to me if you're going to be a bet that should be your primary purpose. This is the second time we've had to come to this vet, first for routine vaccines and this time for an emergency. We were in and out in 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. Dr. Meyerhoffer is the best! She's very thorough and answers all of our questions. I love this vet and we will be coming here for all of our future needs even if it is 30 mins from our home. read more

I have been taking my pets here for some time now. We started coming to Brookside because many of my friends brought their dogs here and they are all Staffordshire Terriers and told me they were Pit friendly and they are. They try to make every accommodation when we have them kenneled there. One of our dogs has terrible separation anxiety and can't be away from his sister, they are able to kennel them together and allow them to have private playtime. When I bring them in even for a checkup they (and the staff) are all hugs with my dogs. I have never been so happy with a Vet, they make taking them easy for us. Thank you read more

My dog broke her leg this year and I didn't have a vet that I loved/trusted. I had taken her to so many different places but never really liked any of them. My friend told me to go here and see Dr. Penrod. This place is now my dog's permanent vet. Penrod is amazing. She was very kind, informative, honest while being very optimistic. Although the vet was nice here, the cost for an ear swab and antibiotics was absolutely ridiculous!!! $235!!! They charged an extra $9 because it was an emergency. Went to another vet where my cat had surgery, stayed for one night, went home w meds & food & it was cheaper. It blows me away that people can even afford to go to brook side with what they charge. Ive been taking my dogs and cats to Dr Markos and Dr Penrod for 30 years and Ive never had an issue or a complaint! The staff is amazingly sweet and efficient and always kind to my animals which is what matters most to me! Inept would be the word to best describe this vet office. Having recently moved to a different State-- I called to get my cats prescription for his special food. The lady at the front desk assured me she would email the info, to no avail. I called back and spoke to a different woman who said she could fax the info to Pet Smart after many calls and coordination on my behalf, again --crickets. In the amount of time this ordeal took I could have flown to Utah -- hacked their computer system --printed the script --flown back to state where I live-- then to the Pet Smart to purchase the food! Oh and here's the kicker -- after a long wait, it was the Pet Smart employee here who rectified the situation. Seriously do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

I have had so many experiences with Brookside Animal Hospital. I have never been let down by the Staff or Doctors. I always leave room for improvement so 4 stars is what I gave. I have had Pit Bulls to kittens and all have had the best treatment possible. I have a question that I hoped to find the answer to on the website. Do they treat Bunny's? I heard they do. I hope so. I found a puppy, a boston terrier. I wanted to try and find the owner. I called Brookside, and the receptionist said they would scan her for a chip, and if there wasn't one, I could take her home and continue to look for the owner. I had already joined a bunch of lost and found sites, checked with the pound etc. When I got there they scanned her and she had no chip. Then an over zealous and rude nurse/receptionist came out and told me she was calling animal services to see if there were any reports of a missing boston. She comes out of the back room, tells me that they had found the owner and would be keeping her until the owner could come. That was a blatant lie. I got home a couple hours later, and saw the pup on a facebook site saying she was found and looking for owners. I told them when I was there that I was hesitant on posting a picture on facebook because anyone could claim her, especially without a chip. I called back and the same nurse lied again and told me that animal control had posted the picture. Animal Control had not seen the dog or had any reports of one missing. Turns out this lady also runs a rescue. Meaning she sells puppies. Like thousand dollar unchipped Boston Terriers. I highly recommend finding another place to do business. Oh, they are also overpriced generally. It's how they afforded a nice new building. I have other local recommendations if you need one. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE LIARS. read more

My review isn't a reflection of the veterinarians at this office, it's my opinion on their receptionist and whoever schedules their appointments. I have been coming to this office for my 3 cats for the last 8 years and have always left satisfied until my appointment I had today. I called about 2 weeks ago to make an appointment as late in the day as possible and was told to come in Thursday at 5. Well I showed up at the time I was told and checked in with the receptionist who then told me that my appointment wasn't until 3 the next day. I then asked who switched my appointment cause I work until 3 and wouldn't have scheduled it that early unless it was an emergency. The extremely rude receptionist said they never reschedule without the customers permission and that I must have mixed up my days or wrote the appointment down wrong. She wouldn't take any responsibility for their mistake and kept saying I must be confused. I've since rescheduled wing a different vets office and will not go back which is a shame because the vets truly are great. My advice would be to double and triple check your appointments if you plan to go here. read more

i wrote this post 3 years ago, Please heed my warning, "DO NOT LET YOUR VETERINARIAN GIVE YOUR PET A COMPOUNDED FORMULA" I took my My 4 lb Toy Poodle to Dr. Penrod as she had started throwing up her Heart Worm Medicine Heartgard for 3 months in a row Dr. Penrod had a Compounded Formula made for my Poodle and she failed to tell me that Compounded Formulas are NOT FDA approved, safe or effective, if she had I would not have lost my dog. The Compounded Formula caused my Toy Poodle to go into Ivermectin Toxicity and she went Blind in 3 hours, then into Spasms and she was unable to standup. She was unable to recover from the horrible reaction she had and we had to have her put to sleep. There are Alternatives, YOU Do NOT have to give Heart Worm Medicine. Please go to the internet and type in HTTP://truth4pets.org and www.whole-dog-journal.com you will be amazed at what you find about all the shots and medicines given to your pets, some are not even necessary. I will never give my new dogs Heart Worm medicine again, nor will I ever use a compounded formula!!! read more

Brookside has put 2 of my dogs down. Both times I was charged for multiple "tests"to try to determine the dog's illness. Right! One tech even tried to sell me meds for a dog we just put down and raised her voice when I questioned the sense of that!!! They really know to exploit a dying pet and make $$s from trusting owners. read more
