We live right around the corner from here, and have now become converts- we have been going to Murph's for the past year and a half. Having tried Brookside again, I say, "Murph's who?" The staff is darling- so friendly and attentive. The menu is not huge for breakfast, but, the food is outstanding. All fresh and tasty. Prices are great and the place is so clean. I get the dive-y breakfast thing, but I like when I see things shining in the kitchen and a counter top free of sticky things. We heart BC! read more

Went for the 1st time this morning. Good crowd, expected on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Great Eggs Bennie with corned beef hash, which I guess they are known for. Recommend hollandaise on the side, as my husband's bennie was drenched with it. Good coffee. Nice waitstaff. Decent home fries but beans appeared to be canned (seems to be normal at breakfast places). Would go again. read more

Delicious breakfast! Ordered 2 eggs w/ sausage patties, hash browns and English muffin. Food was great, especially when I got a bite of it all together. Only reason one star was taken away is because there was a pool of butter on my plate when I got to the bottom of the English muffin though. Still, a very good breakfast, and if you're in this area, it's totally worth the visit! read more

I am being generous giving a 2 star. This place literally smells. The atmosphere is blan, and the employees rude and unfriendly. I don't know if the other reviewers are locals and just know each other, because I honestly could not see one scintilla of the positive in this place. I love small town breakfast places like this. This is the type of restaurant where everyone knows each other. Even so, the atmosphere was very welcoming to two outsiders. There are several different types of eggs benedict, which we enjoyed very much. The homefries were delicious, although they were soft. (I prefer crispy homefries.) We went over to Brookside based on the reviews we read on Yelp. We were expecting something close to what people have reported, but really, it just wasn't that good. Save yourself the time and dinero and either pick a different spot or make breakfast at home. We can't understand why so many people give this place good reviews! We can't believe after eating here that people would actually wait to have breakfast here. We went on a Sunday morning around 9am. Well, for starters, the waitstaff walked past our empty coffee mugs with full pots and neglected to fill them for us, several times. We had to ask for coffee refills. We didn't even know who our waitress was. We overheard the people sitting around us were how they weren't getting what they ordered, but were taking it anyhow just to move their day along. My girlfriend's FrenchToast was not even thoroughly soaked with egg; it was dry inside and had no flavor, not even a hint of cinnamon. My Belgian waffle was not fully cooked - soggy on the inside and soft on the outside. No one asked how our food was. We had to ask for our check and when we did it felt like we were bothering the person who we finally found to do it for us. In a nutshell - AVOID AVOID AVOID. Not worth it, at all. read more

I was very disappointed. The bacon tasted as if it was cooked 3 days prior to being served and as if it was left out and I saw one of the cooks grab a whole pan full of it from on top of the microwave who knows how long it sat there for. Also my waffle tasted sour as if it was old and spoiled the homefries were very good though . And also there was a young lady who seemed to Come in the back door and went up to an older woman who appeared to work there but was just sitting down eating and the younger lady put her hand out and the older woman handed her money and then the younger lady left out the back door through the kitchen again it makes you wonder what goes on in the place read more

I took my Wife and Mother there for Mothers Day 2013. I have a couple of favorite breakfast spots so I thought I would try a new one. I was a little skeptical because of some of the pictures that I saw online. The pictures online do not give this place justice. The pictures online make the place look dark and outdated. It was actually very bright in there. There is a small parking lot in the back and plenty of street parking. The staff was very friendly and the food was outstanding. The menu is not large but offers plenty to choose from. I am huge on home fries and Brookside did them well. Price of the food it pretty reasonable for the amount of food they offer. Coffee was always brewing so it's a fresh pot each time they fill your cup. The only downside I will say is that the waiting area is not very large. The one surprise was the round table that we sat at had a Lazy Susan, NICE TOUCH! I will make my way back there with no problems for breakfast. Give this place a shot! read more

Just had a wonderful breakfast here. Service was warm and friendly (thanks Audrey!), the ambiance perfect (just the perfect level of music to enable a conversation without having to yell! - the tables and chairs set just so, and lots of light coming in from many windows :)) ) Not a fan of hash browns in many breakfast places but in my opinion theirs was above par. Hubby had eggs benny with spinach and sausage and declared it delicious. I had the Brookside breakfast and enjoyed it. Because I was stuffed, I couldn't do justice to my French toast (which was the only thing I found a tad disappointing... the pieces were too thin and not golden brown) On the whole though, we HIGHLY recommend! read more

The Brookside is atruly hidden gem... It is a family owned place and everyone there is WONDERFUL! I can't even imagine ANY of the waitstaff being rude. Karen is dreaming! The food is excellent, well prepared and prices are very reasonable. They are open for breakfast and lunch every day and till 8pm on Thurs and Fri for dinner. Meh... Not that great. Our server was super nice but the food was mediocre. Huge pieces of raw onion in my omelet and the spinach definitely came frozen in bag. I usually go to Amber Road in Canton, but the line was out the door. They're tremendous, so I've been spoiled. read more

Your average run of the mill diner. Tons of decent seating. They have steak tips on the menu which is always a plus though they didn't come out as crispy as I would have liked. Breakfast is my favorite meal and I'm lucky enough to live close to so many great places. Brookside is another one. We went there on a Saturday morning around 9 and it wasnt that busy. The first thing I noticed was how bright the place is. We sat down by a window and the waitress promptly gave us our menus along with coffee. My wife got the spinach eggs benedict while I opted for a western omelet that was filled with ham, peppers and onions. Both were excellent as was the coffee and as was the service. It seems that someone is always circulating with coffee and always making sure your cup is full. As a coffee drinking machine I appreciate that. This is a great place and we will be back. the waitresses were all talking about how terrible their day was, I knew way too much about the resturant that I shouldn't have for example, how much they made the day before, how often one of the waitresses takes a cigg break, how one of them didn't want to share a tip by CONSTANTLY whining the phrase "IM DONE! IM DONE WITH THIS PLACE" etc etc etc. our particular waitress made us feel like we were annoying her, like we were an inconvienence. everyone had a sour puss face, not one single smile for my well behaved kids. food tasted great though. read more

Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. You won't leave thinking it was the best meal you've ever had, but you'll never leave disappointed. The muffins are great.
