Great Breakfast Spot with Friendly Service We went to Sunnyside Café in Randolph for breakfast today and had a really nice experience. Our waitress was attentive and professional, and the restaurant itself was welcoming and clean. It also wasn't too busy for a Sunday morning, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious--even though I couldn't eat much because of a sore mouth from a recent fall, I was still able to taste enough to know it was good. The orange juice was fresh and delicious, I sampled a piece of sausage, and the hash browns were super crispy and flavorful. Based on service, atmosphere, and what I did get to taste, I would definitely recommend Sunnyside Café as a solid breakfast spot in Randolph. I'm looking for a quick breakfast before church. Several waitress behind the counter talking & laughing loud, playing on cell phones, coming out kitchen eating(hope it wasn't my foid), and just hanging around. We sat at the counter and done when a teenager curly hair boy, with no gloves on scratched & adjusted his crouch area and scratched his hair. I tried to get my waitresses' attention so he would not touch my plate. Informed her of what he did & should put on gloves, yet they giggled. I'm NEVER going to a Sunny side again. I'm glad the area where I grew up turned a Friendly's into a brunch cafe that opens early and closes by 3. Very family oriented and has the feeling that the server knows the locals. It's typical breakfast place in the middle of Randolph. The place is cozy, welcoming and you can choose your table. They have the usual breakfast meals: all kinds of eggs, pancakes, french toast, bagels,... you name it! And I just noticed today, there is outdoor seating available! Ate here once. We will never return. The food tasted spoiled, our french toast was soggy in the middle, the scrambled eggs were soupy, and our bacon and homefries tasted as if they were cooked hours earlier. The wait for our food to come out of the kitchen was lengthy and the place wasn't full by any means. While we were there, I remember the cook yelling racial slurs during a conversation with an older lady and gentleman who I assume are all family. Also, we were totally disgusted with our server Gina who kept putting her fingers in her mouth as she was standing around. I was almost happy she never came around to refill our drinks. I've been here a few times and most of the time on the weekends, which is their busiest, especially in the morning. The longest I've ever waited for around 15 minutes and is only because it was Father's Day. Once the place gets busy, the service is slow and the cafe becomes a bit chaotic and clusters with both customers and servers going around. During the weekdays you can expect to get your food in less than 10 minutes, but on the weekends, expect 20+ minutes. The food itself, I have to disagree with most reviews because I thought the breakfast was good. I love their home fries and hash browns. The hash brown is the way I liked it. I once ordered a veggie omelette and it was huge, especially since it came with home fries and toast as well. I couldn't finish it. My bf once ordered steak tips with his breakfast and he liked it a lot. There was decent flavors to it and it was tender enough to chew. You don't even need A1 sauce or ketchup for it. I would have to say that their breakfast meals is A LOT better than I Hops which I would not go to anymore. I have to take off one star because of the wait time for both a table and for food. The overall restaurant was clean but last time we sat at the counter it was kind of dirty. Other than that, everything else was good especially the price, which I thought was reasonably price although it could be bit lower. The former location of a regional chain restaurant this breakfast and lunch café is very nice. We did not wait long for a seat on the weekend. I hate to give displeasing reviews but when they ask for it, they ask for it. At most I would've given this place a 1.5 stars for the sake of niceness. Let's just say I had to throw away my takeout menu. Maybe I'm expecting too much but if you're not going to have any creative dishes then at least make the basics great. This is my 2nd visit there, and I did a take out for the patriot pancakes thats supposed to have fresh fruit... pff (at least that was what i was told over the phone), and homefries. When opened, I just found what looked like practically syrup... I tasted and seriously it was the taste of melted flat jelly. The strawberries looked gross and there were no whole blueberries... just tiny pieces of the skin and black sauce... well, jelly sauce, so I ate it still cause i was terribly hungry but it was one of the worst breakfast's I had. And the homefries were a bit salty, and a bit harder than usual, but hey at least they used red potatoes.... which is proper. So no, I will not give his place a 3nd chance, and it'll be my last time visiting, and that's very unfortunate. The quality of food has to get better in order for this place to survive. read more

I have been to Sunny Side a few times since it opened last summer. The atmosphere is very "sunny" and open. The restaurant is clean, and the waitstaff is very friendly. My past orders have included the Mediterranean and Tuscan omelettes. My friends and family have had orders of the pancakes, waffles, skillets, etc. The quality of the food is not the level I am looking for, though. The food was cold on a couple of occasions...I like my food hot! I also found my omelettes slightly overcooked. My family observed that the portions are not as large as other breakfast joints, but I think that is subjective. However, I believe the prices on the menu are pricier than other breakfast spots in Randolph (that give you larger portions for the same or lesser price). Items on the menu range from $6-14. Sunny Side Cafe serves both breakfast and lunch; however, lunch is not served on the weekends. I like to support local businesses, but I think this cafe needs to step up its game a little! We stopped in one Sunday morning as a party of 6 for breakfast/brunch before heading to Logan airport. It's not my usual breakfast place, but I figured I would at least give it a try. Cluster-you-know-what doesn't even begin to describe the place when we walked in. Fortunately, my in-laws already had a table there so we made our way to the table. However, there was no real seating pattern or any type of directions for the poor patrons left standing like deer in the headlights. I ordered the french toast with cinnamon and it was just okay. Honestly, the french toast slices were about the size of a regular piece of sandwich bread and certainly nothing memorable. Others in our party had eggs and benedicts that were just okay. The service left a lot to be desired. The place was crazy and the servers were getting a workout. The food was overall okay and I think that perhaps if it wasn't so busy, it would be better. This has become our go to breakfast spot over the past few years. The food is very consistent and never disappoints. The prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food you get. The staff is very attentive and the place is clean, what more can you ask for in a neighborhood breakfast spot? To those who complain about the service I can say that in the innumerable packed weekend mornings I've been here I've not once heard or seen a customer complain. This isn't Stephanie's on Newbury, it's a diner, and so if you go in with those expectations you won't be disappointed. Gotta give it up to the sunny side skillet it's my favorite thing on the menu. Basic breakfast and lunch place with a very nice atmosphere. Things seem to be kept simple and clean! I have had lunch and breakfast a few time so far and i am still going back. Waitstaff is always pleasant and food is always out very promptly. This makes it great if you are on a lunch time sqweeze for work or just a tight schedule. Location and parking are perfect so i will def be back. Not to mention for the ladies there is a little extra bonus, there is some nice eye candy in the cooking department. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and was seated at the bar quickly. Waitress quickly took our orders as well. The staff is definitely very attentive and friendly! I noticed there was a breakfast and lunch menu, nothing on the lunch menu stuck out honestly. I went with the spinach eggs Benedict which comes with home fries and tried the cinnamon honey French toast as well. Eggs Benedict was nothing crazy, I've had better, eggs were a little over cooked and the hollandaise sauce tasted a littler weird, I'm sure I'll find out in a few hours if it was a bad batch or not :/ Home fries were just bland and I barely touched them. I usually like them a. Little crisp on the outside but these weren't, just kind of soggy and bland. The French toast however is a must try! I haven't seen something like it in any other breakfast place and really is a yummy treat. Generously coated in egg with cinnamon swirls inside the bread, I could've easily just had a stack of French toast. I wanted to try this place as some of my friends said this place was pretty good. It is located in the former Friendlies. It is nice, bright & SUNNY. Clean, this is always a plus. But like others have said, they do have smaller portions for same price or slightly pricier for similar items at other breakfast places in the area. There really nothing that makes this place stand out other than it can fit more, but it is still an alternative to Toast of the Town or Newcomb Farms if they are packed or closed. Decided to give it a try for lunch. I ordered a chicken salad club. When I asked what they put in their chicken salad - the server's newness showed when she couldn't answer confidently. But, she was nice about it, admitting she should know. I said if it was basic with mayo and celery then I'd take it. I got a chicken salad sandwich (not club) and it was basic. Basically tasteless - slightly sour? weird - even salt didn't help. But at least she saved me $2 by giving me the sandwich ... While eating I observed another server (later to find out it was the owner's sister) responding to a customer's question about her bill. It was only then that the guest was told that she couldn't substitute pancakes for toast and was therefore charged ala cart. I think I would have preferred to be told that when ordering - no? My server asked if I wanted a refill. .. I said yes. She must have gotten so wrapped up in her conversation about the last guest's question about the pancake ... cause I still waiting and I'm thirsty. As a server I'll confess that I not on my best game when it's slow... I'm better when it's a 3 ring circus. So I'm giving all 3 stars to Jodi for her service.
