Bonus is the treatment rooms have a lovely calm view through full wall windows into a woodsy green space, and they hang hummingbird feeders too. Recommended to me by my sister who has childhood dental trauma and needs alternative anesthetics. These people make her feel safe. I moved away from Bellevue, and tried other dentists, but they just weren't up to this standard so it's worth the 45 minute drive to come here. The knowledge, skill level, and advanced equipment here are far above what I've experienced in half a dozen other well-rated dental offices over the years. I want to add after perusing some other reviews that Brookside provides a written itemized detailed bill (estimate) before each appointment, including specifics of insurance coverage. At my choice it is texted to me, usually 2 weeks before the visit. They never make a change during the visit which will change the cost without asking and explaining. They never bill for work until it has been completed. They stand by their work and, when a couple fillings of mine just fell apart after a few years they figured out with me that it's because I grind my teeth, and didn't wear the ill-fitting night guard I got from another dentist. They miraculously got insurance to cover a new night guard years early, and replaced the fillings for free without being asked, even though it was technically my fault for not taking care of them. The "new" owners (it's been a few years now since they bought the practice) were carefully chosen by the old owners and my sister and I both feel they absolutely provide the same wonderful standard of care. read more

I feel like I'm finishing a big relationship. I was doubtful about doing it. I came back a couple of times, and now trying to finally leave. First off, this is totally professional because people in here are friendly. Oh and the location is great because you get to see trees, and hummingbirds while sitting :D So yes, other Reviewers are correct by saying everything changed since the new Administration. I really miss Dr Pauly. She was very attentive, patient, and friendly. New doctors are very knowledgeable too. She works good :) There were various bumps along the road. Like when doctor did a work on one of my teeth leaving like a burr so to say. I told her about it. She answered it would be difficult to re-do it; it would mean putting on risk my tooth. I believed it, and continued trying to floss, but it was painful. 2 Dental Hygienists pointed that out before she finally changed it a year later. Another time when doing something, she decided to file one of my tooth because "it was on her way and it was too pointy". WTH! I couldn't say anything because I had my mouth open, in the middle of a procedure, and my tooth was already filed! What was the point... Last time, she told me I can get something like that in another tooth because apparently pointy canines are not trendy anymore. Who cares?! I've lived my whole life like this. I love my smile. And truthfully, I can't see it pointy. After working in the Industry, one of the basics is not pointing stuff just because you think some beauty canons should apply. That's a No No. On the other side, she is very nice, sweet, and spontaneous. Sometimes some comments, but I don't get offended easily. During the last years I've been watching how staff has being leaving. Every 6 months I had a new Hygienist. It was sad because the Team and vibe was good :) They recently changed the pictures on the waiting room because no one from there was working there anymore :( I really wanted to make it work because Doctor is good. Crowns are made same day in the Office :D BTW, I don't know why they moved the machine elsewhere. It was pretty nice watching it doing it's job :) Once, she got me waiting for 1 whole hour on the chair. Her staff tried to keep chatting with me, etc. I thought it would have been easier for them to let me know beforehand. I have other stuff to do too. Specialy having kids. I previously had booked more than an hour. She is so good that did her job in 20 minutes. Yes, they charge you 1.5 hours for a job that can be done fast. And is fine if they charge what they want. You'll decide if you stay or not. But to schedule you for that long when it's something faster, felt like a scam. Another time I had to pay before leaving. They wouldn't bill first my Insurance. So at the end I overplayed. Later on I had to be the one following up if they were going to refund, send a check, or use it on my next visit. It was a shame they stopped using Insurance. They accept part of it, but being out of network with these things, is not worth it. I thought it was, but I've found so many great dentists lately with super easy way of working, polite, and in network! I don't have to pay extra after my Insurance! It was tough leaving after years, but I guess it's time :( I rang them to let them know about leaving. They couldn't have cared less. Not a survey, not a question after years. Integrity is something you think health care providers should operate with. Just to be clear, "integrity" means you do what you said you would do the way you said you would do it. When you make an agreement with your dentist to do one crown in December and one in January, that is what you expect. Imagine my surprise at the end of my December visit when I was presented with a bill for both the December visit and the January visit. Naturally I refused to pay for work that was not agreed to mainly because the reason we split it up was so that the second crown could be covered by my meager dental insurance. As if that lack of integrity was not enough, when I called to make an appointment for the second crown in January, they told me that they were abandoning me in the middle of my treatment plan and that I should find another provider. Ethics is an interesting topic. Lets take a look at the lack of ethics here. First, the dentist made an agreement and then broke the agreement. That is not only out of integrity, but its highly unusual and unethical. Second, by abandoning my care in the middle of my treatment plan, that is not only unethical, its malpractice. Third, and this takes the cake, they have been unwilling to surrender my records, claiming that they have 15 days to do that, even though they know I am in the middle of a treatment plan. Now when someone is out ethics and lacks integrity in one place in their life, they undoubtedly lack ethics and are out of integrity in other places in their life. Lets take a look at their business. WHen an employer cannot keep staff, that is a problem. During 2024, I went for 3 cleanings. Each time there was a new hygienist because the last one had "moved on". Add to that, that their staff is rude and disrespectful and you have a dental office that the community should NOT support with their business. I strongly recommend that you give this unethical office a miss. Find a dentist who cares about you as a customer, not just as a mark to take advantage of to make a few more dollars just before Christmas. read more

Agree with other reviews that it's been a rapid demise since it was sold to the new owners. Firstly, it is immediately apparent they are maxing out patient dental insurance and scheduling treatments around maximizing their revenue. Secondarily the owner is rude and arrogant beyond measure. I offered constructive feedback on some poorly run aspect of their practice and was immediately sent nasty texts from the owner and was told I was no longer welcome in their practice. This was followed up by a letter with various accusations and demeaning language. I have been a customer for more than 10 years and don't deserve to be attacked by the owner. After moving to Seattle, I neglected to take care of my teeth for a few years before finally getting tooth pain I couldn't stand. Dr. Cindy immediately scheduled me for an exam, then cleaning and fillings for the numerous cavities I had. That was 2 years ago and ever since, I've had perfect teeth and am excited to go to the dentist each time. The staff are all incredibly friendly, and will chat with you and have always made me feel comfortable while at the office. They also have state-of-the-art imaging technology to ensure they and you have a full view of your teeth, and give you detailed explanations for what's going on in your mouth, what they're looking for, and most importantly, why it all matters. Even when I came in with tons of plaque and 8 cavities, I was never looked down upon or chastised for not taking care of my teeth, and they do a great job of giving you the options and tools to have great dental hygiene without seeming overbearing or imposing, and leave it to you to decide to make the change for better dental health. read more

I just moved to the area and was recommended to Dr. Cave at Brookside Dental by a coworker. Before making an appointment I asked first whether or not they took my insurance and they said yes. Unfortunately, I apparently asked the wrong question. I should of specifically asked whether they were in-network for my insurance. In other words, their answer amounted to... "sure we'll bill your insurance but it won't do you any good." DON'T GET FOOLED LIKE I DID. I FEEL TOTALLY RIPPED OFF!! After completing over $6K worth of dental work between my husband and I, I discovered too late that they were out of network. Boy did that hurt the pocket book. I'll never go back there. read more

Dr. Cindy Pauly was my dentist for over 20 years. Even after I retired I drove over an hour each way to see her. When she and her husband, Dr. Brian Cave, sold their practice in October 2019, I called to cancel my appointment with the new dentists and explained that I'd be looking for a dentist closer to my home. In February I called and asked that my records be sent to this new dentist. By June they had still not transmitted my records. Now I'm receiving calls, texts, and emails, sometimes multiple contacts in a single day, telling me I'm overdue for an appointment. I explained to the person who called me last week that I was very happy with my new dentist who is only 10 minutes away and that they should take me off their patient list and, by the way, please send those records to my new dentist. Today I received a text and an email telling me to schedule an appointment. This is incredibly unprofessional behavior on the part of the new owners and I would not accept dental care from them if their office were next door to my house. read more

When I first moved to Washington in 1994, I needed to find a new dentist. I asked around for recommendations, and several people recommended Brookside. I made an appointment, and found that everyone in the office was friendly and very professional. I got such good feelings from the place and the people that I stayed. Dr. Pat was my dentist for many years, and she was terrific when I was having a strange pain that had previously defied all diagnosis. Over the course of a few years, as my existing fillings wore out, Dr. Pat replaced them. I knew she was good, but I didn't know quite how good until a tooth cracked when I was in Europe. I found a dentist who helped me with an emergency temporary fix, but after he was done he went on and on over the quality and precision of the work he saw in my mouth. He even took a couple of photographs so he could show me what he meant, identifying how things were fitting so precisely that it just knocked him out. He told me it was some of the best work he'd ever seen. Some years later I moved to Seattle, so getting to Brookside required a long drive, but it never even occurred to me to look for another dentist. When Dr. Pat retired, I transitioned to Dr. Brian, who has been so friendly, thoughtful, skilled, and responsive, and has carried on such a high standard of professionalism and care, that I never even considered the idea of leaving Brookside, despite the inconvenience of the long drive back and forth. The entire staff, from the front office to the hygienists, are unfailingly friendly, efficient, and good at what they do. For me, Brookside epitomizes what a high-quality professional practice should be: talented, serious, highly skilled professionals in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. I've been going here for years and they are efficient, kind, and have these great movie headsets that you can wear if you're having a longer procedure done. I tried going to other dentists that were closer to my home but none compare to this place. They did some slight cosmetic work to my front teeth and made my smile look brighter! And recently I bit an olive pit and had to have a "crown" done (ugh, was not excited, didn't even know what it was but it sounds scary), but it turned out just fine--was fast and easy, with little to no pain by the next day. I've been going to Brookside for 10 years and gradually got more frustrated with them that I gave up on them this year. They have moved out of standard plan for all employers, and seem to charge additionally to my insurance for everything. Most annoyingly they have a reconfirmation approach to their appointments which means if you don't happen to pick up their call or email and return it same day they cancel an appointment you have had booked for months. I've been a patient of Dr. Cindy for about 20 years (yes, twenty). I don't have the best teeth and she's left a lasting impression on many of my teeth. As an individual, I hate getting my teeth worked on - it's arguably *the* worst of my least favourite things. Over the years, Dr. Cindy and her staff have made my dentist visits uneventful - uneventful dentist visits and uneventful airplane flights are very good in my books. Dr. Cindy takes really good care of me and my fears and goes the extra mile to make me comfortable. She keeps me informed about exactly what she is doing to my teeth and I find that comforting. She also takes the time to patiently answer all my questions - and I can ask some really dumb questions. She is really hard working and her work is also good - really good. I have never once had to go back to her with teeth not feeling right. She takes pride in getting all the meticulous details right. I love that she shows me before and after pictures :) Sometimes (typically after larger or longer appointments) she personally calls the next day to check how I'm doing. She keeps really notes on my dental history and always prioritizes the dental work appropriately. The office staff is very efficient - I can't remember them starting an appointment late. They call with reminders before the appt too. They run a tight ship. All in all, I am a nervous wreck before every dentist visit and Dr. Cindy *always* manages to have me leave with a smile on my face and mended teeth. If I left Seattle, I'd fly back here to have my dental work done. read more

My husband and I have been going to Brookside Dental for several years now and we really can't say enough good things about Dr. Brian Cave and all the staff there. Everyone is always very helpful. They take the time to answer any questions you may have, never making you feel like they're rushing you. Everyone is friendly and a pleasure to see. They're very knowledgeable, whether it's about billing or a procedure you're having done or just general dental questions. The cleanings are great and I leave feeling squeaky clean! We've also had some cavities filled and the work has been excellent. The office is clean and modern, the waiting room even has a play area for kids. Let's see . . since 2004 with Dr. Brian Cave in Edmonds, WA., 19 years! He was just a kid then. Lol. I'm still living in Edmonds but now see him in Bellevue, WA with he and his lovely wife and partner Cynthia. They're a great team that does wonderful work at a very personal and professional level with their patients. I just had a smile makeover last year and the results were amazing.
