This take out order was highly disappointing. I ordered a CHOPPED BEEF POTATO, asked for it all the way without bacon and sour cream on the side with condiments (pickles, red onion and jalapeño). They sent a plain baked potato with butter and cheese, absolutely no chopped beef in sight. They barely gave any condiments. This is my first time ordering a meal from Brookstreet BBQ, and it was definitely my last time. First of all the rib plate that they featured indicated that you would get 5 ribs, I got 4 small ribs. The potato salad was tasteless and the ribs were so so, not great but not terrible. The only thing that I enjoyed was the barbecue baked beans and the slice of bread. The barbecue sauce was much too vinegary for my taste. And the price of the rib plate with two entrées with two sides was not worth it at all. I can only fault myself for not checking the reviews before ordering because from the reviews I've read since, most people were dissatisfied. A tad underwhelming unfortunately. I wanted it to work soo bad because of the convenience of the drive thru, but I can easily say it isn't my favorite. I personally prefer a smokey flavor in bbq meat, which they do not have. Not much flavor was in the brisket actually now that I think of it. The sauce saved the day for sure. I've had better bbq sauces but it's definitely needed in order to truly enjoy your meal. The Potato Casserole wasn't bad. My wife and I went since the Mexican restaurant nearby was closed and we wanted something close by. I went to Brookstreet BBQ at their other location down Hwy 6 a few times growing up. I never remember it being great but it was passable BBQ that gets the job done. Today, it was passable again. I got the two meat platter of brisket and turkey. The fries were great, I had no problems with green beans, and the turkey was ok, but the brisket was very dry so I didn't eat much of that. My wife ordered a baked potato and she said the sauce tasted off and that the chopped meat was fatty/grisly or chewy like jerky. She barely ate what she had. Before tonight once the ribs were in the car, the aroma was so delicious smelling it was hard not to rip the bag open and grab a rib to eat on the way home. Not the case tonight! Very little aroma. Just a high school kid working on the phone who won't take a credit card over the phone for the couple of bucks nor would they just "eat" the difference. We will never order from here again--delivery or otherwise. This was handled so poorly particularly since WE can't adjust the discrepancy on THEIR website. They have to!!!!! For the Most part the food is ok, but their is a male individual that works the drive-thru who is not very friendly. Normally I could let that pass but I have received bad chicken from this person and one time my chicken was in the bag instead of a box, I had to throw away. This is one of those places you go for "specific" items. I know this is not the best bbq in the city. In fact, they do only a few things right and one of them are ribs. It's not competition style ribs but they are moist and flavorful and the best I've had in the area. The potato casserole is tasty too. Diana is fantastic and always there to greet us with a smile and make sure our order is correct. The food is always fast and fresh. Again, I only order certain things on the menu. Brookstreet is a victim of the expansion that has taken place in misisouri city and Sugarland and yes over the years it has slipped and become expensive, especially with covid. We think Brookstreet is fantastic. My wife often does Togo stuff since they have drive thru. And I actually like eating there with the cabin vibe and sports in TV - and free ice cream cones. My wife loves the shredded chicken salad, kids meals sandwich are a good size - and major thumbs up on Yams as a side for kids of all ages. The meat by the pound is great too - better prices than the 36 or 38 dollars a pound all these local Mexican/fajita places charge - and cut well and brisket cut lean if asked. Their base BBQ sauce is a nice sweet and mild spice combo - not too spicy for kids. We'll keep coming back. ********************************** Big time downgrading this place! The place was empty (only a couple tables with people) however there was over half the dining room with dirty trays & such on them. We either just missed a big rush or the staff just doesn't care about cleaning the dining area. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich meal with mac & cheese. My friend ordered a brisket sandwich meal with potato salad. Both the pulled pork & brisket were extremely dry and lacked any seasoning. The mac & cheese and the potato salad were both okay. I have not been to Brooks Street barbecue in quite a while. So naturally I was taken back, first at the pricing of each item except the Baked Potato. My meal was close to $18. I had green beans, yams, 2 Ribs, about 6 slices of sausage , 3-4 slices of brisket, Texas Toast and a Drink. Reading this it sounds like a lot but please refer to the photo of my plate. The yams did it taste good however, this is not good southern Glazed Sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar so please don't expect that. The green beans were good but over peppered no real seasoning of any sort, maybe a little bit of salt. The meat I am glad I can say all of it was tender . I was able to wrap it in my Texas toast and dip it in the barbecue sauce. I did like their sauce; it was thick and it wasn't watered down. It was very Tangy with a hint of sweetness. Just don't go there with the expectation of tasting meat that has been slow smoked for three and four days and all of that because you will be disappointed. OAN my friend who brought me Had to suspect items a part of his meal. There is some tomato rice that they are trying to pass off as Jambalaya DO NOT ORDER IT!!!! He also had something then may have been a loaded mashed potato or some type of mac & cheese but it was extremely dry STEER CLEAR!!! Other than that everything else was fine. Love this place! I get the jalapeño sausage, pulled chicken sandwiches and loaded potato's. They even tweak it to your liking. I get my pulled chicken sandwich on toast bread with lettuce, shredded cheese and mayo and they always come through. The barbecue sauce is made from scratch and compliments everything so well.
