I have been going to this place for years. It is amazing one of the best barbecue places I've been to. We ordered the brisket baker and the chopped beef bun. The brisket baker was absolutely loaded with brisket and cooked to perfection. Very tender and great flavor, the potato its self was also really good. Really soft not clumpy when you put your fork in it, very easy to eat. We are fairly new to the Missouri City area and just finding our favorite eatery spots. Old Hickory Inn is our favorite place to enjoy Barbecue. We have been there on 4 different occasions now and every visit has been better than the next. Incredible smoked flavor on all their meats. Food is amazing, the staff have been super friendly every visit and the restaurant is always clean. Yesterday, 2 April, I had Uber Eats deliver French fries, half pound of brisket and a pound of ribs. What I received wasn't up to the Quality I've come to expect from Old Hickory. Some, not all, of the brisket was dry and the ribs were over cooked; specifically, the ribs appear to have been cut from the rack at an earlier time and then warmed up on the grill. The "warm up" dried out and _burned_ the ribs. The hand cut fries were too cool to eat without reheating. Normally, I'd rate Old Hickory between four and five stars for in store service and quality. But, yesterday's batch wasn't representative of their best. I chalk this up to using the delivery service and serving up what looked and tasted like hours old ribs. PS: this was my Mother's favorite BBQ restaurant and, in her memory, I ordered her favorites. My roommate couldn't eat her share because the quality wasn't what she had come to expect. read more

Everyone and everything was so great !!! Love it !! All so delicious! I would definitely recommend this wonderful restaurant!

We stopped here one evening as my their stuffed Baked Potatoes made my husband's mouth water. (And we were curious about how good the BBQ was). The serving size is MASSIVE. We both ended up having to take ours home with mine being another full servings worth and my husband's being an afternoon snack. However I felt that the beef was very dry and it really needed a lot of BBQ sauce to add back the missing moisture. Additionally, if you see a giant square slab that looks like it could be cheese...IT ISNT. My husband and I both made the mistake and ended up biting into a huge chunk of butter. We think they tossed such big pieces into the potato that it just couldn't actually melt in the heat. It ended up not being an enjoyable mouthful for either of is. :( read more

I was pretty satisfied with my meal at Old Hickory Inn. I decided to try a bit of different kinds of meat so I settled on the 3 meat plate, comes with 2 sides. $14 with tax. I chose the sausage, ribs (.50 up-charge), chicken quarter. For sides, the cashier raved about the mac & cheese and proclaimed it was made with real cheese (yes I asked) and I also chose the fried okra. The food is more along the lines of 3, they could use a bit more of a heavier hand with the seasonings. Otherwise it was good but could have been so much more enjoyable if Morton's or somebody was introduced to their kitchen. None of the meats were overcooked or dried. Pretty smokey flavor and skip the regular BBQ sauce, the spicy (ain't really spicy) knocks it out of the water!!!! Now the sides, again okra needed salt. And I'm very salt sensitive and find most places over-season so I can't imagine what a regular person's buds think about the seasoning. I could have definitely passed on the mac & cheese, it didn't even look inviting honestly. The TX toast is not really thick TX toast you think of it but it was nice on the side. Service: Definitely 4 star! They couldn't have been nicer, no problems whatsoever! From order to pick up... It's not in my radar to return since I went here only for a special occasion but if I lived nearby, I would definitely come here for my BBQ fix! Better than some of these chains... read more

I get the brisket baked potato every time I come here and I'm never disappointed. The brisket is too fatty and the potato is cooked just right. I normally place my orders via phone and the customer service is always great. They're patient when I'm indecisive even though I end up ordering the potato so that's plus lol. The brisket was good, the chicken was pretty good, the vegetables were good, but THE RIBS were fossilized. Today is Thursday, so these must have been cooked on Monday. The meat was the consistency of the driest jerky you ever ate. In addition, I asked for plates, utensils, but upon picking up the order, they were nowhere in sight. The whole process was haphazard and not very conducive to a return trip. To be fair, I searched their website to locate a contact email to alert them that they are selling last year's ribs, but alas, there was none. $80 worth of ribs that I would not pay $8 for. Save yourself the grief and go to Rudy's or Spring Creek. I gave them three stars because most of thee meal was okay. Sadly this place is really going down..been coming here for many years and I really hate to see it crashing like it is. Was in last Sunday afternoon and ordered the sliced poorboy basket..the meat was tough and dry and the poorboy bun was the same way !!!! The fries were okay but not very many of them..thought maybe it was just a fluke..so I go back in this Sunday afternoon and order the regular bun sliced beef with an order of onion rings..garbage again..dry, chewy bun and tough meat..and got SIX onion rings !!!! Come on man, 6 onion rings for over $3.00 ????!!!!! REALLY ???? Anyway,this may be just a weekend day thing..I don't know..I'm giving them 2 stars..1 for nostalgic memories and 1 for the ROOT BEER !!!.......but they wont be getting any more of my $ and my company will not be ordering there any more. read more

I used to love this place but something happened recently to the food taste and quality. Last time I ate there (7/21/2023) the food was terrible. Completely different than before. Meat was ok, when used to be really good. Got fries and cole slaw as sides. Fries were completely soggy and gross and slaw had an unbelievable amount of vinegar, not even edible. I called to try to figure out why so different than previously, thinking maybe a newer owner ? Couldn't speak with the manager because he/she had apparently left for the night on a Saturday at 8. Just experienced waiting 36 minutes for one bbq sandwich. My order was sitting on a cold metal table for about 10 of the 36 minutes because they didnt give me my order. I definitely like this place out of all the other places in the area. There's spring creek and brookstreet which are just not as good. I've already been back for a second time in less than a week. The first time I had the two meat combo: ribs, jalapeño sausage, mac n cheese, and onion rings. Everything was good. The jalapeño sausage was awesome, onion rings were homemade and delicious. They had some homemade ranch at the little condiment station so I ate my onion rings with that. It also comes with two pieces of buttered toast and a side of sauce. Yesterday instead of ribs I got the Brisket, and instead of the mac and cheese I got potato salad. You could tell that the potato salad was homemade. And the brisket was really good with the sauce. It came with two sides,which was canned unseasoned green beans and bbq beans which were good. My grandmother got the ribs with two sides.
