I have tried this place for two or three times. The staff is friendly and they do refills on fountain drinks. I had the Philly steak with fries need the ketchup and the bread sticks I like. I tried the grilled chicken stromboli it was dry and no flavor including with the sauce. My mom liked the pizza. The ambiance is normal like others. I would say for a quick bit yes but the more I go but it is meh and there are better places. read more

We eat all over the US for our jobs and my husband and I are what you would call foodies The owner is awesome and their food is always excellent!!! Wish we had something like this in Texas!! This place is now so much better since they have new management! I haven't been here in over 10 years because of the previous management & employees. But heard that they have new management & decided to try it. Cleaner, a little worn down but still decent. I had the broccoli & tomato pizza slices that were in okay (could have had more garlic & ricotta cheese). I really wanted some good iced tea but had to accept unsweetened bottled iced tea. In town for Hershey Park. We ordered two pies last night for carry out to eat back at the hotel. One plain and one half pepperoni/half sausage. Both pizzas were delicious. There is a Giant grocery store next door and an ABC store as well. Great alternative to heading into downtown if you are looking for something easy like pizza and beer. read more

Extremely rude staff. I was in line behind an older gentlemen with my head turned. The man behind the counter was assisting the elder man. Suddenly I hear the staff talking to the elder man nastily saying " I said can I help you to her 3x". He was speaking lowly to me apparently while i was in line with my 7 year old talking as well. I immediately asked if he was speaking to me... he says "yes I asked you 3x already if I can help you". We walked right out. This location is under NEW MANAGEMENT and the people in there now are very friendly, accommodating and have a better selection of food. So far I have had their Italian sub and their specialty buffalo chicken pizza. The restaurant is clean. There is a TV for customers enjoyment. Service is absolutely horrible... it's laughable. They act as if they don't want you in any vicinity of their establishment. I consistently have this issue, so I go in prepared to deal with it. My Yelp Review: Brother Joe's Pizza Hummelstown, PA As of 03/18/2015, Google Maps shows the correct location but gives the website for the Harrisburg location, not Hummelstown. Hummelstown location DOES NOT sell beer. Hummelstown location is like an outpost on Ceti Alpha V: it's a real place but you shouldn't go there, ever. I really only went here to get a beer. I thought to order food would be polite. When I walked in around 7:00 pm, there were no customers - none. The staff (3) were all in the dinning area watching TV. As I walked past them and reached the counter, 1 of them got up though none of them stopped watching TV; eyes fully locked onto something fascinating, I'm sure. I ordered an Italian Sub and a house Calzone and some beer. She said, "We don't have beers. Beers down the road. Go left, stop at top of hill. Come back. Food be ready. $38.50" I'm like: wtfffffff? But I really want to: 1) get out of there and 2) drink a beer. ## cut to my review of The Manor ## I return in about 15 minutes to pick-up my order. Again: no customers. Again: staff watching TV. However, 2 children are also eating food, watching TV. I make it all the way to the counter again without anyone saying anything or moving at all. Grandpa Italiano says something in Italian which I interpret as "this guy ordered the calzone". Then I think to myself: who da' fk else ordered anything from here lately? Fckn wise-guys. Look: the Italian Sub was good. It was over-priced but good. Anyone can get the same or better Italian sub from Subway (right next door) for a much better price with fresher ingredients and no attitude. The Calzone was bad. How bad was it? It was so bad, after opening it up and looking at it, I took it back to the restaurant doorstep and left if there. Under-cooked, no sauce, bland-tasting, and about $25. I really (really) wanted this place to be good. It was close-by, and the menu sounds great! But, I'm just disappointed. My wife tried this place (calling in an order) and they were *very* rude. She ordered from somewhere else. Me, thinking it was just a "woman thing", I decided to visit on my own-- a spontaneous visit, thinking maybe I'd have a completely different experience as a guy ordering. My experience was terrible. The food was just "OK", but the man & woman behind the counter were so unprofessional! I have decided NOT to return. The menu was hard to read: I asked for a printed menu. The woman sighed, pulled out a menu, scratched out some items, changed the Open hours on the back, and handed it to me. I said "Thank you!" and went to the back, called home to ask what I should order. I returned with my list to order. I heard.. "We're out of all dinners, we don't have anything with chicken, and all pasta is gone." (That left about 1/3 of the menu!) Would have been nice to know it ahead of time. But, I struggled through some alternatives and ordered. While I waited for my food, here's where the craziness REALLY started: A customer (woman with her child) came in. She asked for a menu, just like I had done. The woman behind the counter told the customer "I'm not going all 'onesy onesy' on the menu!" (referring to scratching out the hours of operation, etc.) Then, she took stack of un-corrected menus and HID them behind the register! All while the customer was watching! Unbelievable! I got up, gave my printed menu to the woman and her child. It was 'our' (customers) responsibility to "pass it along" that certain food items were not available. I told at least 2 people that there was "no chicken, no dinners, etc", because they would have wasted the same time I already did. Next, Another person paid in cash. Seeing the register was empty of change, the woman behind the counter grabbed her large purse, slapped it on the counter (as if it was a chore to count out change), opened her wallet, and thumbed through a stack of bills, licking her fingers on the bills that stuck. Big "sighs" and a stack of $1s later, she gave the customer their change. The man in the back making the food (pizzas) didn't wash his hands before he made the pizza dough. (Gross! Reminded me of that Seinfeld episode...) He chewed gum in his mouth (with his mouth open), and I imagined small spit particles landing in the pizza. (Maybe my imagination just went wild.) He seemed annoyed that making food was interrupting the show he was watching on the TV in the back. Lastly, my food came out in portions. She sat the sloppily made cheese-steak on the open counter for 8-10 mins while the rest of the food was being made. (The counter had air flow above, below, right, and left!) The steak was lukewarm by the time the rest of the food was ready. When my food was ready... just as with every other customer I heard her 'yell' at while I waited... she said "PIZZA AND CHEESE-STEAK" in the most annoyed tone, and walked away from it before I even got to the counter to get it. Not a "Thanks!", not a "Enjoy your food"... nothing. This place makes you pay for your food *before* you receive it. (Probably because if they hung around to see the disgusting nature, you'd walk out before paying.) I have no idea why I didn't say anything... I was probably just too upset. But, I told myself I'd write this review. (And here it is!) Food itself: Bleh... just "OK". The pizza crust was good (maybe the toasted spit particles?) The pizza was too large for the box (3 sides 'folded' onto itself.) I got a 'Large' for a 'Medium' price, in a 'Medium' box. I guess that's one of the only positives. I am just SO disappointed... I really wanted this to be our family's "nearby pizza place", but I guess it just was not meant to be. read more

We were pleasantly surprised to discover it is now under new management so please disregard any old negative reviews. We ate there 6/30 and the food was delicious and the new owners extremely nice. Going today 7/6 again. Great food! We have eaten there many times over the last several months. Always delicious food! Would not eat here again. My son and I wanted to order a slice of cheese pizza. There were 3 slices sitting out, and when I pointed to them the woman behind the counter said we just got a 'road order' for them and you'll need to pick something else. So, my son and I did. We ordered two slices of Sicilian pizza. While I stood there waiting for my order, I noticed the man cooking scratching his head without gloves, then go back to flattening out the dough for someone's Stromboli order. Gross. My order came out and I tried to put the gross thought into the back of my mind, however the slice was barely warm, and the middle of the thick crust was like a greasy dough. I don't think it was cooked all the way. Staff was not friendly either. In addition to not wearing gloves and doughy crust, there was kids behind the counter just roaming around. It was strange. I love this place! The food is amazing and the people are so friendly!! I never had anything that I didn't like. Everything is fresh and tastes homemade, as it should. It is a very welcoming atmosphere!! If you have not been here in quite some time, try it again. Under former owners, we went there a very small handful of times because they acted as if you were bothering them to make you something to eat, and they were just plain rude. Check your receipts... If you get one... I placed a take out order and then went in to pick it up. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until after they had already charged my card that the total seemed way higher than it should have been. It appeared that they overcharged my by at least $15. After charging my card they guy said "have a nice day" and didn't offer me a receipt, so I asked for one. It was at that point he looked back at the register and said something along the lines of "oh, oops, I may have overcharged you". At this point I was still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as long as he made it right. At first he said he was going to refund my card then recharge me. I said as long as I got a receipt that was fine. He gave me a credit card receipt, but not an itemized receipt. It was at the point that I pressed him harder and asked for an itemized receipt. He said that he only had one copy and he needed to keep it. It was at that point I flat out told him I didn't trust him and that I needed an itemized receipt. He finally gave me the copy he had and I quickly noticed numerous charges for items I didn't order or receive. He finally refunded me the overcharge difference in cash and I left. On top of all that, the food is pretty crummy. The pizza is mediocre. The breadsticks were clearly not fresh and stale at that, and the wings were super soggy. read more

Very friendly staff! And their sauce that they serve with mozzarella sticks is so good that I get extra and save it for later! Food is always done quickly and we haven't had any complaints with the quality! They usually say 10 minutes for pick up and it's always done when we get there. Pizza is yummy and decently priced and we've really noticed an increase in customers since the management changed. If you gave up on this place under the old management (like we did), it's definitely worth trying again! read more

While traveling through the area we stopped on a whim as it's a straight shot off of I-81. It's also 5 minutes from Hershey if you are visiting. Quite frankly, the poor reviews for this place are perplexing to me. We were immediately greeted and felt welcomed. It is bright, very clean, reasonably priced and casual. But, BEWARE! if you go in hungry you'll have to fight the temptation to order one of everything. The display of all different kinds of pizza is beautiful. All the food is fresh and of high quality. The sub rolls are a special treat of freshly made pizza dough and you can also order pizza by the slice...and eat it the "real" way by folding it! On our way out we grabbed extra pizza for another time along with a menu. This place teaches us to not solely rely on yelp reviews. It is just great and we will definitely be back again when in the area. I wish this family business much success. It's hard work and undeserving of the few previous bad reviews. read more

This place is really cool i actually kind of like their subs, so i go there sometimes. Things to note - If you love kids or wet dogs, come on in theres always at least one small child thats pooped themselves screaming for your pleasure. On top of the drink cooler theres a tv where you can watch tv while they make your food. As the scent of the pizza cooking, wet dog, baby poop and despair mix you can feel your appetite rising. Sit near the door while you wait, the air helps blow some of the cool smells away from your face. also wear gloves, the lady cut my hand with her fingernails while she gave me her change actually, maybe wait outside??? read more

We were in town visiting my Aunt who was in the hospital and decided to stop by for a sub. WOW........... what a great sandwich! Don't be fooled by some past negative reviews. From what I've read, Brother Joe's is under new management in the past year or so. The food is great and the guys behind the counter are really nice. We split an Italian Sub for a light meal, then took stromboli home. The rolls are stupendous, fresh and soft with a bit of crunch on the outside. This place put the Subway, which was right next door, out of business. I can see why Subway had to move. Who wants to pay for inferior food at roughly the same price? We live over an hour away so I don't think we'll be getting back again, but if you live anywhere nearby or will be in the Hershey area for any reason, be sure not to miss this place! read more

These people are crazy! Our son and his girlfriend went in and ordered pizza. While they waited they were teasing each other and laughing. An older guy yelled at them and told them "this isn't a sex shop." Huh??? Our son apologized, but the guy kept yelling. A younger guy at the counter told him to just back off, and he didn't so they started fighting and the young guy put the other guy in a head lock, right there behind the counter! Our son said he wanted his money back and they would leave, so the young guy handed him a $20, which was way too much, so an older lady started yelling about not giving him too much they didn't pay that much.....our son's girlfriend was in tears! they are looking for drama, and if you read all the other reviews, this happens a lot!
