I've been a longtime contributor to this particular pizzeria for over ten years, and not until recently, I've felt a lot has changed from the quality of the food to the service behind the counter. I'm not quite sure how the politics of the Papa John's franchise works, but it seems that there is a lot of tension and stress behind the scenes. I've never worked in a fast food environment before, but I can't imagine that it's easy to handle on a day-to-day basis. In this particular location, I used to enjoy going there on a weekly basis, but have since pulled out when I noticed the attitudes of the people working there became downright ugly to their customers. Luckily, there are two alternate locations nearby, so I've been able to get my fix from these places instead. I'm not mad at Papa John's pizza. SLOWEST PIZZA EVER. I ordered online just before 6 pm for a 6:30 pickup. Arrived at 6:33 and they hadn't even started to prepare my pizza. I had to stand around waiting until it was finally ready at about 7:05. No offer for coupons or discounts or any other compensation for my long wait. This isn't the first time this has happened but this is the first time I kept track of the details. It certainly is the last time it will happen to me be because I won't be going back there. We stopped in to this Papa John's for some pizza after a day at Hershey Park. The pizzas were delicious and was perfect to fill our stomachs after a long day of walking. The employees were great and our pizzas were done fast. read more

Ordered 2 pizzas last night. We were completely grossed out when we opened the first box and saw a beetle with its head cooked into the cheese. Google image search revealed it was a weevil. who knows what lies under the cheese!Needless to say we lost our appetite, not to mention the cost of dinner. I called, spoke to manager, offered to send him pictures- no that is not necessary. Said he could take 20$ off bill, I said no, he then said he could take off 25$. That was it. Pizzas got taken to dumpster. Out dinner and $28.24 but no- they only reversed $23.98. Papa John's app getting deleted. Totally gross. I'm not even sure where to start with this location, and I'm definitely not sure how you're still in business. We often get coupons in the mail, and when we try to use them we're told they can't be honored because you don't have the corresponding items in stock. There's never an offer of substitution, or to pay the difference for a large pizza, etc, just a 'we can't do that, sorry'. Delivery fee is now $4.99, which is all but criminal. The deliveries are usually faster than the website states, and the drivers are really friendly, but that's about all I can say that's good. Topping are sparse, and the sauce doesn't always taste like anything. Staff never answers the phone, and half the time when they do, they say they can't take orders over the phone, you have to do it online. read more

Did an order on line! When to pick it up & was told by the girl working there she gave it to someone else!! She blamed the other customer for not giving her their last name!! They close at 10 PM and yet they won't take orders for carry out after 9:10 PM. I walked in at 9:15 and they wouldn't take my order. I was like but you're open for another 45 minutes? They responded yeah but we're not taking any more orders for carry out - you can place your order online and get it delivered I read some of the Google reviews and I can see why this place gets one star reviews all the time. These people do not know how to run a business but they do know how to drive customers away. I would highly recommend the Papa John's yank the franchise immediately - they're doing irreparable damage to their name. read more

I give this location 2 stars, as an average. We used to order from here frequently because it is super convenient. Not only that, it used to be the best Papa Johns around. With this being said, we don't order here that often anymore. On several occasions I've ordered online, to be charged and then told it was an hour long wait......for pickup! In fact several months ago I ordered online, found out it was an hour and a half wait, showed up an hour and 40 minutes later (because they are ALWAYS behind) and sat another half an hour. When i showed up and said who I was I was told I'd have to wait a few more minutes. I stated I had already waited an hour and 40 minutes for ONE pizza and would like to eat at some point. The person working was sarcastic and told me that they were short staffed and I had to wait. I was beyond annoyed and not very nice with my response. I had tried to call and cancel my order but couldn't get through and my card had already been charged. I get being short staffed, but maybe telling me the wait time before I submit my order would be beneficial. Fast forward a few weeks, again ordered online and was told 30 minutes. I show up at 40 minutes to find out they are busy again, short staffed again, and my pizza was "about to go in the oven". Again, annoyed. Of course no manager was available and the employees weren't nice at all. I waited another about 15-20 minutes. That was the last time I went to this location because it's just pathetic. read more

Manager is very rude. Poor customer service. We stopped in for take out, She Would not take our carry out order, stating we had to order online or call the ?call center? We didn't have a phone with us, so we asked one of her employees to borrow his phone to order. You could tell she got mad at him, I hope he still has a job. Papa John's is bae, for starters. Also pizza is bae. Need I say more? Alright, I guess that I will say more; they do a great job preparing the classic Papa John's pizza, and are always pretty good about getting deliveries made on time. We have only had one negative experience with them in the past, but after letting it slide, and realizing that it was all an individual employee's fault, we have continued to enjoy the wonderful food that this company has to offer! I would give negative stars if I could. Long story short ordered the Pizza and paid extra for rapid delivery, online it stated delivery would be in about 25 min. At 25 min I still didn't have a pizza even though online it said that the order had been delivered. After 45 min I called the store and was told it would be here shortly. Fast forward another 20 min I call the store again and asked for a refund on the "rapid delivery" which the person on the phone refused to do and told me to be "patient". 2 HOURS later we received a cold pizza and no apology. read more

I dropped by to pick-up a carryout specialty pizza and I specifically asked if it had garlic sauce cup with it. She said yes. I even tipped to be nice. When I got home, I called to complain that the sauce was not in the box. This time a young wo.an said it doesn't come with specialty pizzas. There wasn't a real apology given. Just an sorry about your luck attitude. I have always had to check everything at the typical chain fast foods because they rarely get the order correct. We really know why when we are there watching the people at work.. So beware of what get at this Papa Johns even if you ask. Even if you tip 10% to be kind. There are so many pizza places to go to. We will Never order from Papa Johns Hummesltown store again...Pizza was 40 mins. late being delivered. It was not properly cooked. We also ordered a 2 liter bottle of pepsi which we never got...our driver said that he would return with our soda plus and extra bottle for the mistake..that was 1 1/2 hours. ago... This is one of the worst pizza shops I have ever ordered from! We ordered this evening a medium 2 top. and garlic breadsticks. While the pizza was ok, the breadsticks were very overdone. I called and reported this incident to the manager, Amanda. She said she would send us out a new order. A different driver came out with our order and was very rude. I understand that delivery drivers need to knock on the door to have the customer answer, however, pounding and yelling(the first time "knocking") is completely unnecessary. When I opened the box of breadsticks, after being shoved into my fiancees hand, I noticed that the breadsticks this time were quite literally still raw dough. I went to speak with the driver before he left and he is yelling from his car "I have to go!" I replied "No you need to take this food back because it's raw." As he tries to run me over while pulling away he yells "Go fuck off!"... Go fuck off? You bring me raw food, basically throw it at my girlfriend, and then try to run me over and I have to go fuck off? When I called the store yet again, I was hung up on by a nameless person.
