The…read moreselection is well displayed and not overwhelmingly cluttered, making for a more relaxing visit. The shopkeepers are super friendly and include a black cat that is so chill and hangs around the shop unbothered while you hunt for finds. There is a good box-full of postcards, which is my primary target in antique stores, along with stationery in general - that includes some old fountain pens. Posters, advertisements, viewfinder cards. There's a lot of furniture set-up throughout. Old books and toys. A Rock-Ola Cafe jukebox. One of the shopkeepers has a keen interest in plants and builds his own terrariums which are also on display throughout the store. From outside, I won't lie, the place looks a tad unapproachable. But rest assured, once inside you will be pleasantly surprised. Prices seem a bit on the high side, although for the postcards they were just to my liking. At least one owner seemed willing to haggle a bit and offer bulk deals. He mentioned future plans for having a stall style set-up with vendor booths in the back part of the building. Unlike what "Yelpers report", this place is very much still open.

I came prepared to spend time exploring this shop and making a few purchases. Now, the reason why I gave a 1 star review. Not sure who their target demographic is, but the impression I got from my first visit to this antique shop is that I am NOT that person. I was not welcomed when I came in. I figured she was busy. As I continued to explore the store, I overheard the shop keeper welcome and make small talk with every person who came in. (Of note they were older and white). After hearing this multiple times I put away what I was planning to buy (some old post cards and books) and left. I am very disappointed by my experience. Is it possible that this lady wasn't judging me? Sure! However, she gave me this impression and therefore I will never be visiting this establishment and will telling everyone I know not to do so as well. Antiquing is a passion of mine and knowing that there is a beautiful shop so close to where I live due to poor behavior, makes me sad. If you (look rich) and are white, congrats, you will receive red carpet treatment. If you look not rich, even though you actually do well (physician in my case) or are not white, this is not the shop for you! Luckily there are plenty of great places for me to spend money!

Everything is too organized now and the selection is very sparse. The whole point of going to an antique store is to look through the "clutter" and "treasure hunt". I'm very sad to say that myself and the 15 friends that I brought with me will not be shopping at this place again. The Antique Depot & Brothers Antiques will be our go to destinations from now on. Without a doubt, Silver Eagle was the best discovery of the day. Definitely better than the Oktoberfest itself, but that's another story. Like so many antique shops; it's packed from floor to ceiling, musty-smelling, and filled with little nooks and crannies that house the most interesting things. There are several rooms, and we easily got lost for a couple of hours looking at all the cool, old treasures. They have a huge collection of local memorabilia from Akron and the surrounding areas. There are also lots of old postcards, appliance ads from the 30s - 60s (hello, Mad Men!), and LIFE magazines which were really fun to read! My favourite discovery was all of the old photographs -- they were really, really lovely. The owner seemed a little crochety, but he kept to himself. I found so many cool things in here that I wanted, but didn't have any cash on me -- I'm definitely going to have to come back.

If you collect bottles this place is your holy grail. The owner was once a huge bottle collector and knows a lot about Akron's dairy history. I love a vintage store with an owner full of knowledge. There's a pretty solid vintage appliance collection, baseball memorabilia, civil war relics, native american arrowheads, art, costume jewelry, old photographs, barn tools, antique metal toys, and even furniture (good luck getting it out). I have my eyes on an old Akron jailhouse skeleton key. I'll be back!

Happy Trails Thrift Shop is one of my regular stops when I am out thrifting in the Akron area…read more Located on Merriman Road just South of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Happy Trails is a great place to shop. The shop has a nice variety of decor, knickknacks, kitchenware, jewelry, collectibles, art books and lots of other stuff; they do not carry clothes, shoes and similar items. The thrift shop benefits the Summit Humane Society, so they have a nice selection of pet supplies and toys. I enjoy Happy Trails for the collectibles and art items. Over the years I have gotten a number of interesting items, recently I picked up a small carved Asian wood panel and a small replica Samuri helmet. I have also picked up pans, collectible pins and a backpack from Happy Trails. You can never be sure what they will have for sale, but they always have an interesting selection. They also have some really good high-end items most of which are up front near the register; they also usually have some nice antiques or vintage items. Overall prices are very reasonable especially because of the quality of the items they are offering. If you are in the area a stop at Happy Trails Thrift is well worth your time, they always have some fun items and great selection. Plus it is great to help support the Humane Society either by donating or buying something at the store. The staff at the store are wonderful and very friendly.

Lots of signs and license plates lining the walls. Textiles, rolling pins, ceramic milk jugs, blue canning jars, metal tins and boxes. This place is also wooden box central. All manner of sizes and shapes, mostly crate-style with open tops. There is quite the stack of Coca-Cola wooden crates. For my interests, there is very little paper goods, stationery, and a small selection of old post cards - maybe 50 at most. In general, it's a very colorful place and fully expresses that old vibe. There's also a lot of locally handmade items like cards and "packaged" antiques, if that makes any sense! Prices seems reasonable. It's hard for me to get in here, considering the hours, but they're usually open an hour later on Fridays. The shopkeeper was friendly and chatted with me while I thumbed through the post cards.
