My previous stylist Briana moved out of state and so for the last year and a half I've been seeing Paige and she's fantastic. Personable, talented, and just a joy to visit every 8-10 weeks. She's done everything for me from a basic cut to highlights to an all over color and it always looks fantastic. I can't say enough positive things about the experience at Brown & DeLine. The products they carry are excellent, the reception staff is lovely and the facility is clean and welcoming. I received a cut and color with Shannon Rodriguez yesterday. She always does an amazing job with my hair. She has been a hair stylist for many years and has crafted her skills!I'm only leaving four stars because unfortunately it was so cold in the facility, even the people working there were cold. Perhaps a little more heat would make for a more comfortable visit. Also, in the summer time it is exceptionally cold in the salon. I always wear warm clothing, no matter what the season. read more

I have been going to Brown & DeLine for several months for nail services, with Louise Basten. She is an excellent nail technician in all respects from my perspective. I believe she provides other salon services as well. When I first began nail care at B&D, there was a lot of restoration to do, as my previous salon had over-processed and basically ruined my nails. Louise did a lot of meticulous work over 2 months to restore my fingernails, and they are now healthy and strong. And she is kind and very patient with clients! I have ambulation challenges, and Louise goes out of her way to make things comfortable, and meet my needs. She pays great attention to detail, and my pedicures and nails look & feel wonderful. She keeps up with the latest trends, colors and nail artwork, and has provided me with some fun techniques I never knew existed. I went here for a lash service last week. The quality of the lash set I received was the worst lash set I have ever gotten. I got a hybrid lash set and I showed her pictures of what I wanted. I did not receive the lashes I wanted and they looked horrible. I had a very very full dark set which is also not what I asked for and a couple pieces on the ends were much longer than the rest. They separated and looked like I had wings on my eyes. By the next day I wake up brush my lashes and one by one they are all falling out. 48 hours later they are all gone. So I contracted carly and asked her to removed them but by the time she reached back out they were completely gone. So I requested a refund. I spoke with the manger I believe and told me they wanted an opportunity to fix them. I told her I did not want them fix and there is nothing to fix because they are all gone. Also if it isn't done right the first time why would I want to come back. She then called me today telling me she will not refund my $300 service that didn't last 48 hours and became very unprofessional and proceeded to argue with me about this for 20 mins. She told me that it was my fault they fell off and I did something to them. I've gotten my lashes done for a year now and have never had this happened. I also told them that I can provide pictures with dates as proof and they denied it. This place is a joke and I wouldn't recommend ANYONE to this place. The employees are unprofessional and can't take responsibility for THEIR faulty product and service. Do not go here and do not allow carly to do your lashes. read more

I love this place! I had my very first pedicure ever with Brittany and it certainly was not my last. Her signature pedicure is pure heaven on earth, over an hour and a half of softening, soothing and beautifying while you sip a mimosa and relax. She makes me feel so comfortable and cared for. My nails last over a month and are so smooth and perfect. She is a goddess of nails and she really knows what a spa pedicure means, go to her and you are sure to be spoiled for anything less than the best. Try getting your eyebrows waxed by Kerry, quick as a wink and makes them look better than they have ever looked. I am so very impressed with her, even with my sensitive skin they are all better within minutes and none of that red puffiness. If you get nervous she is able to soothe and reassure you, what a pro. You have to try Brown & DeLine, I miss them so much now that the Ypsi location is closed. I'm not sure I have ever had a pleasant salon experience before this one. For whatever reason, I always ended up in someone's chair who was apparently deaf to my wishes. Needless to say, I rarely walked out of a salon feeling like a million bucks. Luckily, that was before I tried Brown & Deline. Despite the fact that I was a walk-in, Amy devoted her full attention to me, and she gave me exactly the cut I wanted. Besides that, she was sweet, doled out a lot of great advice and used amazing products on my tresses (thanks to her, I am now a Moroccan Oil addict). My normally unruly mass (or maybe mess would be more appropriate) of hair has somehow become manageable and (dare I say it?) sleek after Amy got her hands on it. I'm not entirely sure what sort of magic she performed, but you can guarantee I'll be back in her chair for my next haircut. Bonus: The prices are fantastic. She usually just does my eyebrows but with the changing weather and my skin going nuts, I made an appointment for a classic facial and brow wax and was able to get an evening appt on a Thursday. She did the wax first, then lowered the lights and for the facial. I don't think I have ever been so relaxed and enjoyed a facial more. My father unexpectantly passed away on July 3rd. I contacted my lash artist on July 4th to reschedule my appointment on July 5th. I thought I was going to be able to handle it the next week. Well, I was not. I developed some anxiety and didn't feel well enough to make my appointment. I am fully aware of their cancelation policy, so I will take responsibility for that. I was hoping for a little grace, given my situation. I realize the world keeps on moving, but mine have stopped for a moment. When I was met on the phone with the owner, Cathy. She did offer her condolences but did want to charge me 50% of my services. I was asking for a little grace, and I have been a twice a month customer for over year now. And I ALWAYS make my appointments in advance, and I'm there. My lash artist is a beautiful human being, and her work is amazing. I do highly recommend her. As I was trying to plead my case, at this point in tears, Cathy became quite unprofessional, in my opinion. She kicked me out of her salon, told me "they are just lashes babe", cackled through the phone, and told me to find somewhere else to go. Like I said, I do take responsibility for canceling. I get it, business is business. I've just never been treated so harshly and unprofessionally by someone. I missed two appointments because my father passed away during a holiday weekend. I can't be all negative though, and I'll be honest. The new salon is beautiful, and the new location is very nice. If you are looking for lashes, their lash tech is outstanding. I can't say enough nice things to say about her and her work. So, take this review for what it is. I hope your experience is better or continues to be awesome. You are greeted by name as soon as you walk in the door where they take your coat and offer you something to drink. May is always there to help the customer and work around your schedule. When my first stylist Brenda let me know she was moving to another state she made sure that the great experience would continue and she was right. Ashley has been my stylist since and is always there for me and is a perfectionist when it comes to making sure your hair is always looking its best. Terrible Horrible skill. I went for coloring. I wanted a change in my hair color, seriously. After hair is done, I couldn't see ANY difference. My original hair color is black, but why do I want to color my hair to be black again? Unsatisfied, I requested AS with a different hair designer. She recommended heavy highlight with some bleach. Now guess what? I cannot even comb my hair with serious damage and hair color is just awful. Some of them are highlighted with blonde(?!), some are light brown, some are red-brown, ... Complete mess. Every time I shampoo my hair and look at the mirror, I feel so frustrated. They ended up returning my money, and then do not even care about status of my hair. I am just waiting for my hair to get longer so that I can have this total mess removed ASAP. read more

I have now had 3 haircuts all Excellent from Maddie and Josh and then a waxing by Jessica which I was happy with as well. This salon is beyond professional and friendly its so easy to make an appointment and everyone is always in a pleasant mood (no grumpy jaded stylists or receptionists here) The pricing was completely reasonable for both services no sticker shock so i bought the great smelling finishing spray that Maddie had used with no guilt I was still under budget :) ! Also I had the pleasure of hearing the salon owner give an inspiring talk about the book Thrive that she and her staff co-wrote to help inspire other salons. I bought the book because I own a floral design business and figured that a lot of the same principals would apply and they do!! If you are like me and polish doesn't stay on as long as you'd like, try the new Shellac... life changing. No, I'm serious... life-changing. It goes on your natural nails, so you're not going to add length, but what you will add is glorious, slick, looks wet/just done nail color that is essentially indestructible. And if you're me, that's a really good thing. I inevitably screw my nails up while walking out of the salon (I think last time was the first time in my life that didn't happen) and when Ashley was done with them yesterday and I was being all crazy and careful she was like, "Oh, you're done," and I said, "Dry?" and she grabbed and swiped them. Holy good God, I may never go back to regular polish... except for one thing: there aren't more than a dozen colors right now. But still... amazing. There's a base coat that gets cured with UV lights and then two coats of polish (cure each hand while the other is being painted) and then a topcoat. Voila! Everything gets cured quickly and lasts for 14 days. At that point you have to either get it off and redone or get it off and not get it redone. My guess is I'll get it redone. read more

Staff was very friendly and I was very impressed with their social distancing and the way the salon was set up! Masks are required for entry, and the stations are separated by mirrors and are well spaced out. Currently not blow drying, which I give them kudos to as well. Unfortunately, I'm not impressed with the dye job I walked out with. My hair started as a blank canvas, and since my regular salon wasn't open, I took a chance here. I had a picture of a balayage/highlight combo that I showed the stylist (Paul) as reference to what I wanted, as well as saying I wanted highlights throughout and the ends all the same blonde, and I walked out with standard piecey highlights on the yellow side. Unfortunately as well, the highlights didn't even reach all the way to my roots, and are extremely uneven too. The bottom layer of my hair is all my natural color, to add to this. While I was impressed with their safety precautions and the haircut I received, the highlights were under par to what I had gone in expecting. I'd return for a haircut in the future, maybe, but not any sort of bleach or dye. I'm going back to my regular stylist to get this fixed. read more

Andrea is a life savor. Last night I was feeling ambitious and decided I could cut my hair myself. After watching a few YouTube videos I was convinced I could do it. I mean after all it was just cutting a few inches off and adding layers, no big deal right? WRONG... So first thing the next morning I went on yelp to find the best salon in the area. I called the salon and booked Andrea for an appointment later that day. I walked into this salon with low expectations for my butchered hair. I was greeted by Andrea a few mins after I had arrived. I told Andrea I was about to ask her for mission impossible. She told me not to worry and proceeded to consult me on what hairstyle I could go with. I decided to chop a good amount of hair off and do a short cut with bangs. I was a bit nervous because I have a hard time trusting people with my hair especially since I have lifeless, fine, straight, Asian hair. She was phenomenal! Andrea is so sweet and very talented. She was able to visualize the best haircut for me and went for it (: she thinned out my hair to make it lighter and cleaned up my layers to add volume. She did her magic with a blow dryer and a round brush. I loved the round brush so much I bought one for myself ($32)! I am very happy with my new hair and will definitely see her one more time before I move back to Cali next year. The hair cut was $42. I started coming in here about 5 months ago, after having just moved to the area not too long before. I am always pretty terrified to go see a new stylist, as I've had way too many bad haircuts to count. I went in and asked if there was a stylist I could talk to about the damage to my hair and what she thought was the best route to getting it healthy. I got Kelly's card from her that day and booked an appointment after reading great reviews across the board. Kelly is FANTASTIC. Not only is she a great stylist, who cleaned up my hair without cutting very much off at all, but she also remembers our last conversation like it was yesterday. I see her every 6-8 weeks, mind you. Yesterday, she took my a hair up to an inverted bob, and it's perfect. She said "I really like the way this frames your face.. You can see YOU!" and that was awesome to hear. I've been searching for a good salon in Ann Arbor for a long time, and finally one. It's in kind of a weird location, especially if you're a student used to living within a 1 mile downtown-Kerrytown radius, but it's worth going out there. The place has a nice classic salon look, without a lot of loud music or tv screens, which I usually find irritating in salons. They also give you a drink, a fer real alcohol drink, when you arrive, which is bound to make people feel cheery. My haircut was really good--Stacey had a good eye and was able to fix a previous not so good cut. I also really like that they have a sliding scale of rates based on experience. A lot of places in AA just straight up charge $50 or $60 regardless of who is cutting your hair. My cut was $26, but just as good as any $50. You should mention when you call if you'd like the cheaper option, since it does depend on who's doing it. Brown & Deline is also pretty good about guarantees and loyalty deals. If you don't like your cut, you can come back within a week and they'll fix it up for free. If you refer someone, you get a free cut. If you come back, you get 10% off the next time. This is much better than sending out groupons for new customers, which tend to just make a salon too busy to offer good service, and then you don't want to come back. Highly recommended! read more

My old review was taken down. This is for Halina (aka the skin goddess) only. She's AMAZING. I've literally had facials with some of the "best" estheticians in many major cities. NO ONE has come close to her. I have genetically horrible skin (tried everything but accutane), and Halina was able to make it flawless for four years with just her extractions. Thank you. Her extractions are so, so, so thorough. Yes. They will hurt. Yes. You will be red that day. But. You will have amazing skin a few days after. And, if you are diligent about your visits, your skin will transform in perfect, glowing, flawless skin. She's just the best. There's no one better. I wish I lived in Ann Arbor or were able to go there to see her every month. She's amazing at what she does. Halina is also a wonderful human being. She's funny and interesting and deep. I've had great conversations with her. We've spoken about everything from our favorite recipes to the meaning of life. Even though I don't get to see her much anymore, I consider her a dear friend who has touched my life. Please go see her. She's just the best. She also is a very talented cosmetologist and did a great job with my nails! My mom received a shellac manicure and luxury hand paraffin treatment from Shirley and a hair power dose from Paige and was extremely impressed with both of them! Not only is the salon super clean and comfortable, they offer you tea, water, and mimosas. Everyone is very friendly and have given my stylist Danielle compliments on her cuts multiple times. Danielle has been doing both my cut and color for about 3 years now and she is my favorite stylist ever. She's done gorgeous long and short cuts, as well as color that comes out more beautifully than I expect everytime. She's done natural colors and jewel tones on my hair and I always love it. She also is more than willing to help me figure out what kinds of products I need to buy to style my hair and doesn't try to upsell me on any particular products. This place is amazing! The first time I went here, I didn't schedule an appointment, I just walked in. The ladies at the front desk are very sweet and they got me an appointment within 10 minutes! I got my haircut for a really good price and I loved it! The second time I came here, I had dyed my hair at home and it looked awful. I got an appointment and the stylist made my hair look amazing! I thought I was gonna have to get my hair completely re dyed, but my stylist suggested that we just tone it. It was super cheap, fast, and way better than I expected. I'm new to the area, so I was very worried about where to get my haircut. Unfortunately I only have Sunday's free, so my choices of salons were slim. I called and asked for someone who was good with pixie cuts, since I've had my fair share of pixie cuts by someone who had no idea what they were doing. I was told I would be with Brenda and she does an amazing job with short hair. Well, Brenda was excellent and upbeat! She was very excited to be cutting my hair and loved the style I had chosen. She even walked my through how to fix my own hair exactly how she fixed it and explained why she was doing certain things. She was very nice and helpful. She was kind, caring, and I'm convinced an Angel from God. From that moment on, she has been my stylist and now my friend as well. ***This review is only for waxing services with Halina. I've been seeing Halina off and on for years, and have occasionally "cheated" on her when I've moved out of the Ann Arbor area, but I always end up coming back. It's amazing how bad my brows can get when I start seeing someone else. After asking me "WHO has been doing your waxing?" Halina always whips my brows back into shape (pun intended). It's amazing how different my entire face looks when she's finished up. I've also have bikini/brazilian waxes with her. She's good about keeping you talking to distract you from the fact that she's spending more time down by your lady parts than your average gyn. She's also *very* thorough, which although not the most comfortable thing in the world, I appreciate, given that I'm shelling out a not small amount of change. I've been to other waxers where I've had to "tidy up/finish" the job for them when I got home--that's never the case with Halina. read more
