After punching in the car wash code, there can be a delay of several minutes while waiting for the line to shorten. The front license plate got bent in half after going through the car wash. Having looked at reviews for dozens of different car wash sites, including a lot of Brown Bear but also other independent ones, one thing is clear: at all these places, it's often luck of the draw. Things like extra-muddy vehicles in front of you in line (maybe an attendant should run the equipment through some sort of rinse cycle before the next car or something), random ways a car might be damaged (a brush catching a license plate, or extreme temp difference between water and car glass, etc.), things not getting clean (but Brown Bear at least will rewash the same day for free...more or less useful depending on how busy the lines are and how much time you can spare), etc. can make the difference between a positive or negative experience. But my experience was mostly fine here, on my first visit. On the negative side, I don't like the wax/polish options, but drive on a dirt road and so really want the undercarriage wash. It's very annoying that there's no option to skip the polish stuff; it's not like the polish can be anywhere near as good a result as doing it by hand anyway, and when it gets on the glass, it just messes things up (tons of streaking from the wipers when it's raining out). Also, the rinse didn't really rinse the car completely, left traces of soap suds on the rear hatchback deck, and the blow dry similarly doesn't really get the water off the windows or even all the rest of the car. So points off for those things. But on the other hand, the day I went, there was an attendant on duty, who helpfully reminded me to turn off my wipers, and who was generally helping things move smoothly. The talking bear theme should be annoying at the payment station, but winds up adding at least a little friendliness to an otherwise impersonal experience. And the payment station itself is easy to use and seems reasonably well thought out (not counting the inability to decline polish even on the more thorough wash levels). I managed to go when the facility was practically empty, so the whole process of paying and getting washed was super streamlined, easy, and quick. Assuming I come back, I will probably try to continue planning around the less-busy times of day. I hate lines, and if I see it backed up past the payment station, I'll just go somewhere else, or let the car be dirty a few more days until I can get back at a less busy time. read more

I am a building contractor and for the past three months I have been doing projects in Issaquah. it's important that I have a clean car for my clients . My windshield had a long crack after a car wash here. And the manager denied that it's their responsibility and refused to do any compensation. They said it's common sense that temperature change may cause windshield to crack and customers should take their own risk to do car washes here. The company is self-insured. So I also couldn't contact their insurance company. They also refused to even write a note for me to state the fact that the windshield cracked after the carwash and they said it's a company policy. I've been using the tunnel with a Beary Best membership for quite a few years on both my cars; it's especially great to pull in here after going up to the mountains in the winter -- but... All my prior cars were leases and I really didn't care a whole lot about the paint, but now that I found a car I want to keep -- I can't use this car wash anymore because IT SCRATCHES THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR CAR! It's especially "great" to finally get through the line, only to have some truck with a ton of dirt on it from off-roading or general negligence front of you. And the attendants try to jam everybody in so close to each other that the mud and dirt from the car or truck in front of you slings off and covers your car in a nice layer of abrasive dirt ready for the brushes to grind it into your paint. It would also be great to have a web cam so you can see how long the line is before having to do a drive-by to see if there's any way to get through the line in under an hour. Seems like the car wash used to be a lot more gentle, but I suspect over the years there have been tons of people coming in with caked on dirt and whining that the wash doesn't get every speck off so they've cranked up the amount of pressure on the brushes. I know none of my cars (all large-size Outbacks and Foresters) used to get rocked back and forth as the car gets washed, but recently the Issaquah tunnel pushes the car back and forth pretty violently and makes a ton of noise as the dirty silicone "brushes" beat the crap out of the finish. I started waxing my car after every wash here just so I could have a good protective layer for the next wash, but it's just getting to be too much of a pain for such little benefit of this car wash. So unfortunate, as this used to be a good place to go. So, as long as you don't really care about your paint, this is a great way to quickly clean your car, but if you have a dark color car you may end up with a vehicle that looks worse than just leaving it dirty. read more

I dropped my Mom off for ankle surgery near the car wash and decided to surprise her with a clean car when I picked her up. Everything at Brown Bear worked perfectly. The vacuums are definitely better than the one I have at home and made cleaning the seats and carpets a breeze. I was able to pick up some cleaning supplies from their vending machines and the wash was powerful enough to get baked on bugs off the bumpers. The whole area was very clean. Out of all the Brown Bear's on the Eastside, the Issaquah location has always been my favorite. It gets crazy busy on sunny days so you want to be sure to get here right at opening time. we have been regular customers of Brown Bear for years now. a couple of weeks ago we went to our usual one in Issaquah. we noticed that no one did the wheels, windscreen, mirror and rear brush like before. I thought this was just a one of due to staff shortages. yesterday we went to the same one and again there was no wheel brush, it was straight into the wash. it was certainly not to the usual standard, in fact I had to finish cleaning the car myself when we got home. you have increased your prices significantly, while the service is greatly reduced. sad to see corporate profit put before customer service. read more

This place and several other locations need to seriously have an overhaul on their blowers at the end of the wash cycle, they are bending license plates and ripping them off of cars. My Fiancee's vehicle, which is new, had her entire front plates and bracketing ripped away by the force of the wind. While I was there waiting to get the plate recovered from the wash area I saw 4 cars exit and all had bent front license plates, one looked like the plate scratched the bumper....that should not be happening. read more

A Brown Bear car wash is one of my favorite errands to run. This location is convenient since it is close to Costco and Home Depot, and easy to get to from a couple different exits off I-90. The wash seems more compact that other Brown Bear locations. Your car definitely still gets clean, but there is less time to savor the experience. The car wash here is priced the same as the other BB locations, but I must say that the Factoria Brown Bear does a better job. Here, they wash cars using rubber paddles to wipe dirt off of cars, while Factoria uses giant sponge scrubbers. This location does have towels to use for free after getting your car washed, as well as window cleaner, and coin operated vacuums are a dollar. I love the clean car feeling. It is always worth paying $8 for it! read more

Went to grab 8 gallons of gas to get a buck off a car wash today and the gas was $2.84 a gallon. Absolutely appalling. Everyone else is 2.59 to max 2.64. Then I get to car wash and my saved 10 receipts? No longer will give a free wash for those. Well how nice. Bottom line is skyrocketing prices at their pump and reduction in customer reward program. Now the coup de grace... A simple bottle of Diet Pepsi was $1.89 in the little mart. The place is a total rip off now. What a shame. Won't be returning. read more

This car wash is terrible, they charge you ten dollars for the cheapest wash and the guy standing there with the wash brush doesn't even wash your windshield or trunk area at all. This car wash is not a value at all, I hate it here. And then to top it off every time ( which isn't often ) that I do go here my license plate gets bent In half pretty much. I can't wait for car wash to open back up at the shell gas station down the street. 6 dollars there and you get the same exact service minus the scuffed wheels from the alignment tracks they have and bent license plate.. EDIT: I appreciate the response from the owner and I got some valuable tips here. But. 1. Why not train your staff to be aware of vehicles that have more exposed plates. Kinda stupid for us to have to damage the plate just to realize we can get a cover. And 2. If your already paying the guy to just stand there why not make him brush everyone's car??? This review is for the self-service bay which is the only thing you should use to keep vehicle paint from looking like a Brillo pad. I paid $2.00 for 4 minutes and bumped it to 7:00 minutes. The car wash advertises WARM water but it was NOT heated. It's very difficult to remove grime with cold water. The PSI is very very weak and quite obvious it's not going to clean anything even with the nozzle up close and at full trigger. When I pulled from the bay, the windshield still had the half circle of dirt and the sides of the car had the same grey silt layer. The water must be recycled (some sort of WA ecology law perhaps), from the drain because it has a sewage odor to it and the water is ice cold and no detergent suds. I felt ripped off. WA state does not have good self-service car washes and using the turbine sandpaper automatics is NOT an option for me. Another thing I cannot find in WA state car washes is soft water rinse. So its a must to hand dry the vehicle to keep water spots from forming. The gas station and bay area is relatively safe because it's in Issaquah but the equipment sucks. Other than that, It would be more beneficial to hand wash or avoid wasting your money. read more

When I can't make it for a complete wash at Park Place in Bellevue (where I get my car detailed), I will come here. I've always purchased the Beary Best, which is 14 bucks, and does the most cleaning for your car. It's better than most quick-service car washes and though the place is always busy, especially during warm weather, it's always a quick service. Overall: Good, reasonably priced place to take you car for a quick clean, with good customer service We bought a pack of 5 x Beary Best washes from Costco (I think it was $39.99 as opposed to $49.99). When we first visited we were amazed at how many attendants there were. On handing over our voucher, we had no idea why an E was written on our windscreen - we were assuming it was some sort of code?!?! After having our plates and bumpers pre-scrubbed, we entered the car wash - it was very quick, to finish things off 1-2 people dry your car. The lights at the end flashed "thank you for having the Bear Essentials wash". We both looked at each other and said - I thought we had the Beary Best? So out we came, went around and enquired what had happened. By this time the queue for the car wash had increased to 10-12 cars. The lady apologized and allowed us to "jump" the queue/line to retake our Beary Best wash. The result is a relatively clean car, the only bits they miss are under the car door handles, near the wheel arch and some corners of the number plates. I personally think it is worth the money, as it would take us a good 1-1.5 hour to wash, clean and polish the car, as the saying goes "time is money". NB - Why is it called "brown bear car wash" when the bear they use as a logo is yellow? Is it me, or am I color blind? read more

First time I went through the car wash it didn't clean everything off of my car. Taking in to consideration we'd be in up in the mountains, I'm not surprised. I spoke to one of the car wash attendants and he said to take it through again, at no charge. The second time going through worked like a charm! Love that they have a free towel service to wipe down the inside or outside of your car. The vacuums have always worked very well at this location and are clean (clean as a vacuum can be lol) There towels are great for cleaning the door Jams and for shining up the wheels. I visited this location two days ago and recieved patterned removal of paint and dents across the bottom half of my driver side door. I met with the manager and not only did he not believe that this was not the working of the car wash, he blamed it on another car. All I did that day was go to work, washed my car (of which I am so thankful I got a receipt instead declining), got gas at the corresponding gas station, then parked my car in my enclosed garage (house not apartment). I went to work the next day I full daylight, saw the paint removal and dents and called as soon as they opened. I cannot believe that this is being blamed on something not even possible! I have several point of damage on my door and they are low - not at a spot where another person could even remotely be at fault. This manager is REFUSING to believe that a automated car was can even be capable of damage. Please do not go here - I am not beening shuffled to call another person after he took careless pictures of the damage on my car. I've had this car for a year and it has not seen an ounce of damage until coming here and now my whole door is ruined. read more

If anyone bothers to look at yelp for this business. STAY AWAY! Seriously, I have expensive paint on my car and so does my mother. They ended up scratching the new paint and leaving swirl marks in my paint the one time I used this place. Her car is about 2-3 months old and has a scratch already! Luckily I have professional detailing equipment and know how to treat the car. Her scratch is NOT GONE but is extremely hard to see now thanks to someone knowing how to maintain paint. Spending lots of time on both cars they both are fine now. They don't take care of their equipment and it shows on your cars! I definitely needed to get a carwash so when I got to Brown Bear I asked the workers to scrub down my car before I went in the wash and they definitely scrubbed it down. I used to use this place every once in a while, until recently. 1.5 years ago a car infront of me started reverseing and ended up hitting the front of my car. Im not sure what happened assuming the tracks stoped working correctly. It was nice they ended up giving me a free car wash. I had forgot this had happened until recently. About 1 month ago i came back and this time it was my car which had started going back and hit the car behind me. I didnt touch the gas or the break but my car starrted to reverse. Now that this has happened twice i will not be going back. recommend that if you do go there make sure there is a good distance between the back infront and behind you so this doesnt happen to you. read more

There was a guy waiting to ring you up and as soon as it was your turn to enter through the machine, another guy wiped down my hood and trunk to remove some of the dirt there. I did not have any issue with the blow dryer damaging my front plate. The car came out as expected and was happy. After all this a quick machine wash just what I needed. read more

I have had better car washes at other places. When I come to this car wash I resort to washing the car myself in the self service area. It costs me about $6 (1/2 the price I'd pay going through the washer). And I have to say I do a much better job (with my husbands help too) of washing my car than that silly machine. I have had times where I have had to do their washer for time purposes but my car still doesn't look that good. I'm not giving up on this place, I am just gonna stick to the self-service area. read more
