Our waitress gave an above and beyond service; her bright lovely smile lights up the mood of the customers. The menu choices are straightforward, which is easy to order. Their most popular dessert here is the Shibuya Honey Toast! They also have a must try crème brûlée crepe cone that is filled with custard, strawberries, bananas, and chocolate on the crepe wrap. We ordered the tuna melt, and they were delicious! The portion of the tuna, cheese, corn to bread ratio was perfect! Their food is SO tasty whether it's sweet or savory. The staff are always so sweet and attentive, and I love the ability to sit inside or outside depending on the weather. Cute place with really cute owners. Disorganized and crowded- waited an hour and a half for two dishes. Food was above average, ~15$ for a crepe. It was packed when we got there, we sat down in the back but were told to put our names on a waiting list. After looking for it and finding it half hidden on the trash can, we filled it out just to find they didn't even use it! They sat a pair of walkins that came after us and after apologizing they sat us in the same place we sat before. After waiting for an hour in a half we got our food. It was a good, above average crepe. Reasonable price as well, a crepe being around 15$. Afterwords both owners came out and apologized saying they were backtracked. It was an uncertain day regarding rain, so the outdoor seating was not set-up. My friend and I stumbled upon Brown Butter with our two dogs, and we were readily greeted by a very kind gentleman, who with great immediacy got us chairs and wiped off the table of its raindrops. The menu had something for everyone, along with unusual beverage offerings of a hot Thai tea latte and lychee ice tea, with an actual lychee, not just flavoring. The only critique was the amount of ice in the drink, which was more than she desired but probably necessary to actually make it iced. My friend was able to get a substantial meal of a fabulously presented and delicious avocado toast, topped with boiled egg slices and a pleasant sauce with a slight kick, while I was able to get a house salad that included artichoke hearts, which is incredibly generous for a "house salad". Everything was scrumptious! Blackhawk Plaza was once a vibrant complex. Sadly, post-pandemic, most storefronts are now vacant, and the management has allowed for the once-gorgeous water setting to go green, although there are signs that they are aware of its unsightliness and working on the filtration system. Where Brown Butter is located is on an edge, overlooking the parking lot of a former Century Theaters, so customers will not be bothered by the unkept body of water. Please patron this business, as it was brave of the owners to roll the dice and complete against an existing Starbucks in the same parking lot as Draeger's. There is no competition there, as Brown Butter is independently-owned, takes pride in what they serve, and appears to be more concerned with a positive experience for their customers as opposed to a conglomerate's bottom-line. read more

I came here on a Saturday with Josephene L. around 11am and we beat the rush! There's both indoor and outdoor seating but we opted for outside because it was such a beautiful day. Stopped by Brown Butter before going to the Blackhawk Museum. It was a bit busy on a Sunday afternoon, with other guests waiting to be seated as well. We were able to take our order and walk around the shopping mall while our food was being made and a table to be ready. I do have to say it is very sugary but it's so good it's not worth thinking about. Their drinks are also amazing. They have something for everyone ex. Coffee, tea, sweet drinks, and a lot more. Came on a friday during lunch, we were seated very quickly and the interior was absolutely gorgeous!!!! So so so cute and homey, with equally aesthetically pleasing menu items. Wait staff were very kind and welcoming. We ordered the albacore tuna crepe and chicken pesto crepe, and for dessert the mango mania and creme brulee. The tuna was delicious and perfectly light cheesy which paired wonderfully with the sweet corn inside. It was a nice and creamy, with a tastefully dressed small side salad to pair. The crepe itself was spectacular, with a balance of nice and on the crispier side on the edges with the perfect thickness and a chewy bite. I've been to a lot of crepe places but hands down the crepe texture here is my new favorite!! The mango mania was also sooo delicious the mango sorbet on the side was absolutely killer and it paired so well with the mangoes and cream. The fruit itself was amazing! The creme brulee crepe was so fun to eat, they serve it in a little stand so you can eat the top with a spoon before you pick it up and eat while peeling back the paper. The custard was just right, not too sweet, and the bites of fruit inside give it some nice texture as you eat your way down. One thing I noticed is that the wait staff will clear your plates and give you a new set of utensils before they serve dessert, it was a small detail but I thought that was a very nice touch. This restaurant is super cute! My daughter had a late breakfast and wasn't looking for a heavy lunch and we found Brown Butter from checking Yelp. We loved that there was ample free parking available today and walked into a restaurant that we have never been to in the past. As we walked in, we were welcomed by a very friendly waitstaff member named Apple. Since we told her that we planned to sit and eat, she showed us an available table and provided us with the menu. We inquired about the top 3 most ordered items on the menu. These included the mango mania, Thai street food and crime brûlée crepe. I noticed that there was illy coffee on the menu! So I ordered a single espresso and a Miracle Blue. The illy shot was absolutely delicious and smooth and made me miss downtown SF. The Miracle Blue tea arrived with a single lemon wedge on the side. It was recommended to taste the tea first before adding lemon. Initially, I asked for no stevia but since it is a mix, it can't be extracted. I wanted to try it anyway and I'm glad that it tasted delicately light and refreshing on this hot day in Blackhawk. The Thai tea was pretty average only because Jeff likes it a lot stronger; he will ask for a stronger flavor next time. As for food, we ordered the Ham and Cheese crepe, the crème brûlée cone, and the Thai street food: Prik Pao Moo yong crepe. The Ham and Cheese crepe was a hit for our little 9 year old daughter who wasn't hungry but finished her plate including the salad! The crème brûlée cone is something that we would order again as a dessert crepe to share with the kids. As for my Thai street food: Prik Pao Moo yong crepe, I asked for it to be medium - hot for the spice level. I was glad that the flavor wasn't overpowering. I like how this crepe had the umami flavor from the dried pork and really celebrated Thai flavors. Who could believe that Thai food in a crepe would taste so great?! My mind is blown. I love it! I forgot to ask for my side salad to be dry, so I will have to ask next time. We will return with our posse of children to try more things on the menu, but we will share the crepes tapa style so that we can try a little bit of everything! Brown Butter replaces Nectar in Blackhawk Plaza. Gone are the healthy and refreshing smoothies. Instead, we get an awesome array of sweet and savory crepes. You can also get tea and coffee here. For our visit, we shared a Creme Brûlée Crepe as a dessert after lunch. Wow, amazing dessert. The crepe was tightly folded into a cone, and it was loaded with creamy custard, strawberries, bananas, and chocolate, all under a crispy layer of caramelized sugar. Took some serious skills to pull this off and the taste was wonderful. The cone-shape is ideal for eating on the move without the mess and having to waste plastic containers and utensils. They are still soft opening. One item I'm looking forward to is their Shibuya Honey Toast. Bread should not cost more than $10 unless its Avocado Toast, but this looks to be a complex dessert. We ordered strawberry soda and lemon soda , and for food we ordered thai crepe, tuna crepe and creme brûlée crepe. We are surprised by the drink since we are not really soda person. Our second trip to Brown Butter was wonderful, atmosphere still inviting, open and airy. The space is small, but vibe is relaxed and the staff are super caring. We came with a party of 6 and they were able to accommodate us in a reasonable amount of time, larger parties would be a challenge. This time around my wife tried a spicy tofu crepe (which seems to be new?) -- it was delicious if a bit spicy (may want to ask them to go easy on the jalapeño if you're sensitive).
