    Rustic Baguette

I was lucky enough to visit Grand Central Bakery on a quaint Sunday afternoon and there was only a small line and quick service. You can also order online if you would prefer not to wait at all. The staff were very knowledgeable and kind in suggesting me a loaf of bread to have with avocado. 5/5 for service. I went with his suggestion of a rustic baguette, which was a little expensive at around $4. This is where one star was lost. Maybe it was intended to be like this, but I thought the bread was too crusty. The crust was very hard and I felt like I was going to cut my mouth eating it. This is the second star. Despite the hard exterior though, the inside was pretty soft. Flavor wise, it was nothing special. I prefer the bread at La Parisienne in Belltown instead. They also make a lot of variations of sourdough, pastries, sandwiches, and drinks. It seems to be a nice place to sit and work in with lots of natural light and ample seating.

Just popped in for a sweet snack a couple days back! Their apple pies are so good :) I am loving their sweets and pastries as much as their sandwiches!

I have kept giving grand central a chance bc generally we like their sandwiches and the bread is great (though the wait times and cafe experience haven't been the ~friendliest~). But this last order on 4/27 was our breaking point. I ordered a large (and there is a small option) kale salad with an $8.65 addition of chicken salad and what I got was deeply ridiculous given the nearly $20 price tag. It was like a tablespoon of chicken salad. Given that I placed the order for pickup, this almost feels like it was intentional. If you don't have enough product to fill an order, set it aside and let the patron know when they come to pick it up. I'm not one to post bad (or really any) reviews, but I honestly feel swindled by this location now.

    Bacon egg bolo

Consistently the best sandwiches! Bacon egg bolo with tomato relish - absolute favorite, especially with an over easy egg that friendly stuff has agreed to do!

Fantastic Bakery looking forward to making tuna sandwiches with the multigrain whole wheat the staff was was great and the bread slicer machine was neat. I noticed they also carry other brands that I'm a big fan of, like Portland's Tao of the tea and Oregon Growers, all around a great experience and looking forward to next time.

How I've missed Grand Central Bakery! I used to visit the Pioneer Square location often pre-COVID when working downtown. Today, I visited the Wedgewood location. ORDERING: I ordered my food online in advance. They share the estimated prep time and the last pick-up time. You can schedule if you'd like to pick up your food at a later time. They have a number of locations, so be sure to choose the correct spot. PARKING: I parked in the residential area to the west of 35th Ave. They may be a parking lot next to the coin shop? Unsure. SANDWICHES: I got the Happy Goat sandwich and my partner got the Blue Ribbon. SO delicious. I have had the BR before and the pickled red onions is really a game changer for texture and kick. The Happy Goat was so tasty. A nice layer of chevre, a solid layer of shredded carrots as their seasonal veggies, and the zesty chimichurri adds wonderful flavor. Absolutely love them! PASTRY: I couldn't decide between the ginger molasses cookie, the almond croissant, and the ginger scone. Ended up going with the almond croissant, idk if I've had theirs before. It has a tasty almond creme filling and of course is buttery, airy, and delicious! I don't often get almond croissants, but I was pleasantly surprised to have an almond filling and not just almond topping. I'll certainly visit Grand Central again for their delicious sandwiches and pastries.

I recently moved to the area and have been looking for places to hole up in for little study/work sessions. This place hit all my marks: it has ample seating, reliable wifi, plenty of outlets, and great food and coffee. I don't think this is the best place for a 'grab and go' situation, since the orders can take a bit of time -- but it was perfect for what I was looking for.

Tarragon Chicken Salad and unsweetened iced tea with lemon -- perfection!
    Jen C.

Sometimes, it's the simplest things. On a warm, lazy summer's day, I wanted nothing but a salad and an iced tea with lemon. Thinking Grand Central was more of a carbified bakery, I wasn't hoping for much. I'm glad I was so wrong. The chicken tarragon salad and iced tea with lemon hit just right. My recent breakup with carbs and sugar wasn't an issue in the slightest; I deftly sidestepped the brioche cinnamon rolls, giant cookies and strawberry frangipane, but left feeling none the more deprived. Thanks for the amazing flavors, healthy options and friendly service, guys! Will return soon. (Five stars reserved for Michelin restaurants like Jean-Georges only; no other reason for docking a star!)

The outside is very unassuming and I you wouldn't guess there was a decent establishment but you walk inside and you are immediately greeted. The person at the register is ready to take your order. There were quite a bit of options! I don't know why but I didn't expect that. I decided to get a Brown Sugar with milk since that's my favorite and it was good! Nice and sweet with not too much ice. There's also a small gaming console at one of the corners as well. Going inside, the menu is at the front wall, and they serve tons of things from your regular boba and banh mi sandwiches to some specialty drinks to some pretty loaded vermicelli bowls and even bubble waffles. I was actually overwhelmed with the choices and took a while to decide what I really wanted. For this visit, I got their lemonade galaxy and three egg rolls with fish sauce. Lemonade is really tasty, and there's also a bunch of peach bits inside as well. It also has butterfuly pea flower, which is mild and not too sweet to begin with. Perfect since I didn't want something too strong to go with my egg rolls! They weren't piping hot like I wanted them to be, but I loved that there was slightly more meat than filling and that it wasn't overstuffed with taro unlike some other places I've had back then. I'm sure I didn't get the full experience here given I didn't get the stuff I always see on their IG page like the watermelon slush and banh mi sandwiches, so that's what I'll do next time I come here. Looking past that, I highly recommend this place, which feels like a hard-to-find hole in the wall! You'll want to rely on street parking to reach here if you're going by car.

It's located in the same spot after many decades in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. Since there's several cafes along this stretch of 35th NE, as point of reference, it's two doors south of Wedgwood Broiler. It shares a huge parking lot and adjacent to a Metro bus route. It had a nice autumn hue from the overhead lighting and interior decor. The local art for sale adorning the walls was a nice added touch. Upbeat, welcoming staff. It was full right at noon and brisk walk-in takeout traffic. Nice overhead music to chill, dine, and/or do laptop stuff. They offer the usual bev menu, as well as, breakfast & lunch items, soups, salads, modest pastry case (from Alki Bakery), merch, and coffee roasts from Zoka. The 16oz mocha was well crafted temp wise & good balance of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate. I also opted for the roast beef panini without the horseradish. Generously filled with roast beef, havarti, mayo, and red onion on savory focaccia. It was provided with au jus and I selected potato salad versus chips. The au jus was not salty, so after dipping, I also sipped the hot broth. Very flavorful and filling. The other panini half I'll have to take home. Thanks to fellow Yelp Elite All Star, Will L for a compelling post. This was a pleasant detour for lunch.

Oh, and a vodka lemonade - you can get cocktails delivered via DoorDash! Everything was super good, especially the chili cheese dog. They were really generous with the chili (a full cup of it) and it was delicious. The lemonade is made from scratch and I really enjoyed that, as well - not too sweet. When we did takeout, we each got a sandwich, and we also got a Chicago dog, "chum bucket" w/ tots, and a handful of cocktails. I'd had kind of a bad week and was basically like, I don't even care, let's just get whatever we want even if it's an insane amount of stuff, haha. They do single serving craft cocktails for takeout in little cans, which is pretty cool. And they were SO GOOD (all with very clever nautical-themed names). I think our favorite was the "No Ship Sherlock" seasonal Moscow mule. The Chicago dog was amazing - based on this and my previous chili cheese dog, I can say without hesitation that their hotdogs are 100% 10/10. The "chum bucket" tots were also really good, and again came with a very generous full cup of chili. I hate to say it because everything else was so good, but the sandwiches were pretty disappointing for the price, we both thought. I had a tuna sandwich and my bf had a veggie sandwich. They used fresh, quality ingredients, but both sandwiches were kind of bland, and a lot smaller than we were expecting for $14 apiece. That's the only reason I dropped a star, but aside from that, they are 5 star all the way. So, we would not revisit the sandwiches, but hotdogs and cocktails HELL YES YES YES!! Anything involving the chili is also highly recommended. And although I didn't really go into detail about it, chicken tenders were good, too (there were more in there than what the photo shows) - crispy and well-seasoned, and more than what I was expecting.

The ladies at the stand are always very friendly and helpful in their suggestions (such as which type of sauce to pair with the pasta, or the flavor of the pasta or ravioli filling). Thus far, we've gotten the egg bucatini, the red pepper bucatini, the seasonal gnocchi, and the dreamy garlic spread. Generally, I'm not a big fan of fresh pasta, because many times, I feel it gets too mushy (or perhaps it is the quality of the pasta). La Pasta fresh pasta has never been mushy; it has that imperative al dente bite-- a clear sign of good quality pasta. The gnocchi is flavorful and pairs well with the dreamy garlic spread. Looking forward to trying the pumpkin ravioli later in the week. The price is comparable to the fresh pasta you would find at a specialty store, like Whole Foods, Metropolitan Market, or PCC Markets-- however, La Pasta's quality is far superior. La Pasta products are worth the price. We look forward to trying any new products, as well as upcoming seasonals. We also hope that they may have a brick and mortar store in the future on the Eastside for the farmer's market offseason.
