I went in on Sunday at noon and was the only person there. I had hoped to sit in to eat with my family but it is a mainly a takeout place with some counter seating and 2 seaters outside in direct sunlight. What I could see of the place was very tidy. They had some lunch specials on that didn't seem that much better than the regular menu I don't think. The chicken and fries were fresh but took about 10 min. I prefer the dark meat so found the white meat parts a bit dry but the meals come with gravy. They were very generous with the fries as well and come in these cute brown pizza boxes. I have eaten at Brownies for the first time ever since it has opened. I ordered the Halibut Tenders & Chips and it was very enjoyable. The tenders were really scrumptious and crunchy in texture, although I would have liked them more in bigger portions. The chips (or fries) were very good on their own and can be enjoyed with sauce or salt. The service was good and found nothing to complain about. This is a classic. The last of 2 O.G fried chicken joints made in B.C. I arrived around 5 and this restaurant got very busy shortly afterwards. I ordered a dinner combo with half Cajun and half original chicken. I was surprised that the meal came in a pizza box but it was kinda cool. The chicken was perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fries were seasoned with seasoning salt and I had gravy to dunk everything in. I love fried chicken & often go to KFC BUT NO MORE. We stopped into Brownies, in Mission, today around 1:00 for a late lunch and were thrilled with the wonderfully non greasy fried chicken & fries! At the end of my meal my mouth wasn't coated with grease , as is usual after KFC. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a crispy outside & tender & juicy interior. Sure wish I could get mine like that! The fries were golden & they even gave you gravy for dunking! All in all a great experience. Hey so I remember this "chain" from my 80s childhood! I was going to order the chicken, but my mother really wanted fish and chips. So I ordered the cod & fries, I found the batter very pleasing it was crispy and not too thick, the fish was not greasy, they did a good job. I phoned in the order and set a pickup time, when I arrived and gave my name, the food was up within a few minutes. Friendly and efficient service. This is a great, family-run joint for some delicious fried chicken. It's definitely worth checking out. We ordered the Family Pack, which comes with 12 pieces of chicken (regular, Cajun, or both - we opted for Cajun), large fries, and large salad or gravy (we got the gravy). We also ordered the Fantail Shrimp and Fries, which comes with 8 pieces of the shrimp, fries, and tartar sauce. Everything was really delicious without being too heavily seasoned or salty. I would definitely recommend getting the Cajun chicken as it adds a nice kick of flavor. For the first time, I tried Brownies: Jan 4/19. I never knew this place existed until one of the Foodies I follow had comments on his recent review of a new chicken place in PoCo, about Brownies. Hubby & I ordered a 4pc meal: came with 4pcs of chicken (half orig. & half spicy), fries, & a tiny cole slaw salad. As well as 1 pc cod & fries, cuz somewhere on a review I read the fish & chips are also really good here! (AND IT WAS!) That night, we also went to Church's (Coq @Johnson), Popeyes (PoCo @Hawkins) & Brownies (Maple Ridge @Dewdney Trunk Rd) to compare the chicken flavours: half & half from all. Popeyes & Brownies were quite good, but I have to say Brownies' chicken was yummier! :) Holy, who knew there really is a difference in deep fried chicken!! I'm so glad there are people who review restaurants cuz I would have never discovered BROWNIES CHICKEN & SEAFOOD!! The only sad thing is that it's quite a ways from where I live. :'( read more

After discovering that this place again since I was a kid. I have to say out of all the Chicken places we usually go to, Popeye's Churches KFC Mary Browns, We have to say this place is the best place in Metro Vancouver. Haven't been the Vancouver Jollibee but after spending 2 weeks eating Jollibee and Chowking in the philippines. I would say that even Brownies can go toe to toe with Jollibee. We always get the cajun chicken and fries. Always nice crisp and seasoned. One of the best parts about Brownies Chicken is that even without any skin on the meat it still tastes amazing unlike most places that are virtually flavorless once you get past the skin. And unlike other places. They usually have fairly large peices of chicken compared to some places that are practically serving cornish hens LOL. The only reason its not crazy busy is because its Maple Ridge isn't exactly nearby but worth the trip still. read more

Friendly staffs and clean small shop. Parking lot outside but not too many spaces. Due to COVID, the Maple Ridge Dentistry Thirty Two is closed temporarily so there are a few more spaces to park. The service is a bit slow and the food is a bit on the pricer side but I'd say it's very worth it. Quite far from where I live but I enjoy driving there just for their fried chicken. Their shrimps are good too, crispy and flavourful (wish the shrimps had more meat but it's fine). The fried chicken is one of the best I've had. I'm a big fan of fried chicken and I love Taiwanese and Korean fried chicken. Korean is more famous for their sauces but Brownies Chicken is Southern fried chicken style and like Taiwanese chicken, it does not have much heavy sauce. It's simple but flavourful, extremely juicy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Great portion size and the fries are freshly made with real potatoes (slightly thicker cut). They have pop and some other appetizers too. They have fish & chips as well. Lots of different options and adorable packaging. Sooo good, I wish I'd ordered more. I used to go to the fish restaurant operated by the owners here but it closed and only discovered years later they'd opened the Brownie's. When I had a craving for fried chicken I'd overlook this place and go to he-who-will-not-be-named (which has become very run-down, dirty and mis-managed). Not any more. Good chicken whether regular or cajun. There is a fair bit of meat on the chicken pieces unlike some other fried chicken places. Coleslaw is decent but I'd avoid the biscuits. Phone ahead for a pickup order and it will be waiting for you (again unlike some other fried chicken places). read more

When I realized the owners opened this place a few weeks ago, I flocked here to have some delicious fried chicken. These really pleasant people have been doing this for decades and never disappoint! I shared the 6 piece meal with a friend and we both had leftovers. This time I had the Cajun chicken burger and it was dynamite! The toasted bun topped it off for me. Still couldn't finish the whole thing in 1 sitting. My only suggestion would be to include a small gravy with the individual combos. Who can resist real chicken gravy, especially with the fries that are to absolutely die for. This place could easily put KFC out of business hands down. Brownies chicken and seafood wow!  Formerly Joe Blows.  Since the closing of Joe Blows I have waited and waited for them to reamerge. What a Gem ! They have re-opened with a very bright,shiny,clean new location. They seem to be focusing more on the take out side of things now.  I  have already been in twice since opening ! Their chicken is so crisp and juicy it is unbelievable, you can try original or Cajun ... no wonder why it is always packed.... not crazy about chicken ? Well these guys also know how to do fish and chips right... their previous location Joe Blows was a fish and chip joint.  Today I got one of the chicken sandwiches to go and for 8.99 you cannot go wrong. The juicy crispy fried chicken that flows over the edge of the soft bun is dressed with a delicious sauce, cheese,a little sliced iceberg lettuce and served with a TON of crispy fries! These fries are not just crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside ! I was going to take my sandwich and fries home  but had to pull over and enjoy the meal in a nearby parking lot... I couldn't wait any longer. After parking I took my seat belt off, moved my seat back and had one of the best chicken sandwiches... it was an almost romantic experience.   Absolutely delicious.  These guys know how to do chicken !  Looking forward to working my way through the ret of their menu. read more

Well it's finally open !! Definitely worth the wait !!the Cajun fried chicken was perfectly cooked. Crispy flavourful skin, moist meat. The fries were nice and crispy with a fluffy inside. The cod was cooked nicely. The batter was a golden brown and very crispy. Although the fish batter was lacking flavour. The coleslaw was fresh and perfectly dressed. This place was busy!! At least 10 people waiting in front of me and probably another 5 orders went in while I waited for my order. Had to wait 20 mins. But being opening night. I had to expect that as there has been a buzz about the opening for about a year now. The aroma of the chicken filled the small takeout restaurant. Loved how the take out was packed in a pizza style box. Kept the food hot and crispy until we got it home to eat! They do have a small bar to sit at. 6-8 bar stools. Wish they had some actual sit down tables to eat at. That is the only thing I would wish for. The food was amazing!! The chicken batter reminded me of the chicken they served at Joe Blows when it was open. I hope they start making the fish the way they did at Joe Blows too. The service was friendly. Bought take out fried chicken because it's near home and we were lazy to cook on a Sunday. The service is slow, we had to wait for at least 20 minutes for our order. The chicken was very fresh and hot! Careful not to bite on it or you'll burn your tongue. The fries was good too, real potato and crispy. I really loved the coleslaw salad one of the best dressings I've had. I give 3 stars because it's a bit more pricey than other fried chicken places, the spicy flavour needed more spice and the original flavor lacks seasoning.
