Bad faith practices at Frank Brown auto !!! Daughters car went in for service. Bill was higher than expected. As a parent I paid on the day the service was complete a partial payment of $800. returned days later to pay another $200. 5 days later my daughter returned with final payment and then charged her an additional $1000.00 storage fee!!!!! I will not deal with this company again. my sons car was towed there. They are now trying to lie about the amount of days it has been there Including non business days. They even gave him problems getting pics of his car for insurance to get the vehicle out which added another day. Just absolutely ridiculous and not my first bad experience. Had I only read the yelp reviews, I would have steered clear (literally) of Brown's Auto Service, BUT hundreds of consistently positive reviews on another ratings site gave a greater insight and more accurate assessment of this shop. The tow truck driver recommended here for transmission work, and gladly, this is where I brought it. I felt confident that this was the right move as Sal, the General Manager, was entirely straightforward, like a doctor giving the condition of a patient. Tactful and honest: it is what it is. It is obvious that they know their work, and the turn around time quick. The price reasonable considering the knowledge and experience of the technician, the work being done, and the going rates elsewhere. learned about this company after one of there tow trucks hit my car on main street I agreed to not to go through the insurance and let them handle it a place named 2480 auto did the work every thing worked out fine. So a called about tow price was quoted 110.00 for 8 miles truck was suppose to be here within a hour didnt arrive for 2.5 hours, truck arrives car is half in street half in driveway driver wanted a extra 150.00 I declined hour latter I get a text saying I will be charged 50.00 dollars decline fee on my card. smh... beware read more

My First ever review but this one was so classless I cant let it be. I also read thru and see others have had classless comments as well. Any how my car got towed in a snow storm. The street was full and no where to park so i parked in the huge private parking lot at 11am on Sunday when the business is closed. I come out at 1pm and my car is gone. Took me 18 hours to find where it was - they did not add it to the "was my car towed" APP nor did they let the police know. The business was closed so i could not call them until Monday which is a Holiday for many but they did finally get back to me 18 hours later. Then this place tells me if I dont pick my car up today it will be 150 bucks more to get it the next day. Well i could not ask my neighbors to drive in that weather so i had to uber i and pay extra for that. The lady told me MLK is not a holiday - I said huh - She said she is at work so it is not a holiday. The reason she was at work was they could rip off a bunch of people like me. Anyhow her saying MLK is not a holiday and not grace period due to the storm shows it all. Almost as bad as the company that had my car towed early on a Sunday when its closed and in a major storm. Anyhow avoid this place as if they rip you off on storage fees in a storm i cannot imagine what they would do if they worked on my car. read more

Do not recommend for auto repairs. I think they try to rip off women. I went in alone to get an estimate for rear springs and they said $500. I said no way! Found a great honest place to go and got the work done for $200 total. This place has a real problem. Think twice before going here! read more

They sold me a bad battery. My car went dead again after I got the new battery. They refused to even look at it. I had to get the car towed to another garage. They told me the battery was bad. I called Brown's. They again refused to help. I had to buy another new battery. I brought the dead one back. They refused to refund my money. I have never had such poor customer service. Update. The owner contacted me to refund my money but it's been too long. I no longer have my receipt. I appreciate the offer but at the time I received very poor service. Frank Brown Towing was assigned as my tow by my roadside assistance company at 12:09PM. I spoke with the dispatcher, he acknowledged at 12:09, he acknowledged they had received the job. Told me within the hour. One hour later the assistance company called them again, another 30 mins later. 30 mins later they denied receiving the email and that it would be another 30 mins. Assistance company dispatched a second contractor. I spoke to Paul at Frank Browns, said 20 mins at 2PM. At 2:35PM, second contractor arrived, Frank Brown never did arrive in the 2.5 hours I was waiting. They need to be removed from contractor list as they are unable to meet the service level expected. Lets be clear that the customer service is fine and I was treated very well. But thats where my positivity ends. The city's impound fees start at $90, with $25 per day hold. City pound is about 30 minutes away from me. I got charged $179 for a tow and a 1 day hold on my car during a snow storm from Frank Brown's auto service. This business is 10 minutes away from me. The car had to be towed because the parking lot had to be cleared(it was cleared during the day and built up again over night). The car was towed from a predominately student tenet building. I'm sorry but $179 is ridiculous. I'm barely making ends meet as it is as a student. All of us are trying to get by. They know this. Why so much more expensive than the city? despite it being significantly closer to me? Unfortunately, the business is just trying to take advantage. God forbid anyone did this to one of their kids. read more

I called Brown's the other day when my check engine light came on. While the light turned off before I even took it in, I thought a diagnosis was still probably a good idea. I had ignored minor weird sounds and movements since a national company screwed me over last summer, and I lost trust in Buffalo mechanics. After they checked it over, they gave me the most honest answer I've ever heard a mechanic say. They informed me it could use about $1000 in repairs, but that the undercarriage rust was so severe, my best bet was to just get a new car. I had kind of anticipated this answer, and I was thankful that they didn't pressure me into spending a ton of money, just to have it break in half next month. They made suggestions of how to go about getting a new vehicle to get the most for my money. I will definitely return here for any future needs. read more

I started going to Browns about 5 years ago as a college student. Unlike many mechanics that I have been to, the guys at Browns never treated me like a "dumb female". They're very down to earth & always take the time to educate me on whatever issue my car may be having. They never try to do work that isn't needed, and they always give me their honest opinion. I took my car to Browns, Tony said I needed a welder/collision shop to fix my axle. I eventually learned I did not. Me, being an idiot I guess, gave them a second chance with bringing my other car in for having a loud noise from engine. His diagnosis was that the sound was from the Moter and they had taken off the fan belts to make sure. His recommendation was to trade the car in because it would be thousands to repair. Sadly, I sold my car for 500 bucks as is and told buyer a new engine was needed. The buyer then bought an alternator and replaced it for a couple hundred bucks. Absolutely the worst advice I was ever given by a auto shop! The good news is, the car runs perfect now for a few hundred dollars repair, bad news is I sold it because I thought a professional auto shop knew what they were talking about!!!!! I had my oil changed at another place and they told me I was leaking fuel and I needed a new fuel filter fast. I took it into Frank Brown's - they showed me my fuel filter- it was fine and not leaking. The "change oil" light was still on so they reset it for me and charged me NOTHING!!! Very courteous people, prompt attention to appointment time, excellent service.

Took almost 3 hours to show up, I understand they're busy but combined with the fact that the service was awful I'm not impressed. The truck smelled like cigarette smoke, I clearly heard the driver's co-workers swearing over the hands-free system - what people say on their time is their business but professionalism would have been nice - the driver didn't have a jumper box because another employee had left it at a customer's house and drove around in circles lost to go get it, I got home about the time I was expecting given the number of screw-ups but it took a half hour each to load and unload my car. I had to call in to work the next day, I could not have functioned on four hours of sleep. Next day the mechanic who was working on my car told me that in winching it up incorrectly, the driver caused over $600 in damage. Thankfully their insurance agreed to pay. I let the manager know how I felt and he apologized perfunctorily, then proceeded to make excuses. Totally ungracious and abysmal attitude. From my experience, this company has no class and cares only about getting their money. read more
