My family has been going to this restaurant for years. My father loves the fried chicken livers here. He is usually pretty satisfied with his order and gets exactly what he's expecting. I usually run for him to pick his food up and always find the employees a little less than friendly. Customer service is not their strong suit. Wow if I could give this place a 0 rating I would. I went to the Browns chicken in Chicago Heights today 6/13/25. I hadn't been to Browns in a while. I ordered a 2 piece white chicken with Fries. This chicken was so overcooked and dry, the fries were barely cooked and the crust was like shoe leather trying to pull it off the chicken. I will never visit this establishment again. This browns chicken is pretty bad. I ordered a pound and a half of chicken livers. I asked that they be fried soft 4 times. i asked for the livers to be fried soft so many times that when I got to the window the clerk stated, " I wrote that in the second time you asked for soft." First off, I had to wait 20 extra minutes and was told to park in the first space available. I paid over 35.00 dollars for soft chicken livers. The livers were rock hard. I am 72 years old, and I could not eat them, they were so hard. I think they were being funny! I am retired and on a fixed income, So, I just wasted $35.80 of my monthly income. The chicken livers were horrible. I have been coming to this browns chicken over 20 years. I will not be coming back. They have no pride in the food that they are serving to customers. The lady that took care of me on the last two occasions was not only rude but did not pay attention, I wanted all dark meat and asked if it was possible to get all thighs and she never responded just added extra thighs and charged us more without explaining of a added charge, we also ordered mushrooms and we never received them (out of fairness she did not charge us) but we had to go back and order them. The cashier had the personality of a wet noodle (actually a wet noodle has a better personality) some people shouldn't work with the public and this cashier is one of them. I'll bypass the Oak lawn location and drive the extra 5 minutes to get to the Evergreen Park location were there is extremely FRIENDLY service. read more

The WORST fast food place on the southside. I walk in at 8:20 and there's a counter top sign that says "cold chicken 8 pcs --$5", I tell the employee, great I'll have that! "Oh we don't have any cold chicken left", I respond, "well why is the sign up?" So I pick it up and turn the sign around, "see how easy that is?" So I order the 8 pcs dinner and he says "ok but we only have dark meat". So you're open until 9 pm but don't sell what is advertised? I asked, "do you offer a discount or throw in a side bc I'd like white meat as that's what I'm paying for." Nice kid says I'll ask the manager. Guy comes out covered in tattoos, which is fine, but he's missing teeth, hair in a ponytail and long scraggly beard, he literally looked like he was homeless and had no hope of personal hygiene. And spend some ink money on teeth! The manager tells me, "nope no discount, no free side, if you wanted white meat you have to get here earlier" BROWNS CHICKEN NO LONGER SELLS WHITE MEAT AFTER 8 PM OR SO.....is the gist of it. They're open til 9 but you may only get coleslaw after 8 pm if the manager says "you should've got here earlier. 10 yrs ago, we use to go to this location at least once a month, then it was every few months, past few yrs it's been once every 6 months, after today....I will never go to ANY Brown's Chicken ever again. This Browns chicken location has fell way off. They use to be good once upon a time. Now they taste absolutely disgusting. I gave them a few attempts thinking they were just having an off day, but no. The last 3x I've tried them again have been awful. Not sure what cut backs they've done with COVID, but EVERYTHING on the menu is now terrible. The chicken is always dry and overcooked. The batter also doesn't taste the same. All the sides taste like they don't believe in seasoning. The beans taste like they were poured from a can, fries and onion rings never taste fresh, the biscuits are undercooked where you can taste the batter, the cheesy and mashed potatoes are a processed joke, and the Mac n cheese is a disgrace to the Mac n cheese name. I hope they're monitoring this site. Their bargain coupons are great, but I hope this location isn't on the verge of disappearing like many other locations have. Three visits in a row, over about the last month, the french fries have been horrible! It's like they never change the oil. They used to be much better. Now they're always a color that puts me in mind of what I had heard about changing oil often enough. I tried their boneless wings, and when I asked for barbecue sauce (the coupon said only one, but I couldn't picture that being enough for 8 wings), she mixed all of my wings up with sauce and dumped it in a cup. What a mushy mess. It just felt like she only cared about cost, not how my food was presented or more importantly, tasted. Cared enough to write this on Christmas Eve morning. I suspect most people, like myself, would never think of a chicken place as a good place to try Italian Beef. Like going to McD's for salad. However, I finally tried this place, after years of intentions to do so. This is one good f*@*ing sammich. I get the large size, and with extras it can get a little costly.
