I forget how good this place is! We have recently ordered twice - the chicken is SO good! So juicy and flavorful! From out of town, visiting family and needed to get some food for the group. Brown's was requested so off i went to get food for about 5 of us. Aside from the business being dated and in need of a renovation, I can tell you that the service was excellent. The group of us found the following items to be great: hot perfectly cooked onion rings and french fries , a very tasty Italian beef, friend chicken, chicken tenders (with a variety of tasty sauces), piping hot baked beans, mashed potatoes & gravy, fresh cole slaw, really good rib tips over fries and some delicious corn fritters. There have been comments about the cleanliness of the kitchen. I didn't see any of that. The two gentlemen who were working had the place clean and made us a great meal. read more

I will have a hard time coming back to this restaurant for a while. If it is this dirty where customers can see it how dirty is I'm in the kitchen area where they are making food??? You guys can do better. Have some pride in your restaurant. Popeyes is opening soon and I am sure they are going take whatever business you have left if you do not do something fast!! My husband brought home Browns chicken, mashed potatoes w/gravy, 3 rolls, and mac & cheese. The chicken was hard, and old looking and tasted nasty! The mashed potatoes weren't hot, and the gravy was so salty, that's all we tasted- horrible! Mac & cheese was tasteless, blah! The 3 rolls were good! Just a horrible dinner, a total waste of money! Worst meal I've had in a long time. Chicken breast had this thick mealy coating and seemed very undercooked. The actual meat was chewy and just tasted old. I really can't believe they are serving something like that to a customer. The muffin/biscuit thing that was served with my meal was just odd and unappealing and they also didn't give me the side I ordered (fries). I took two bites and decided to trash it and heat up a frozen dinner. When I was a kid we used to love going to brown's, and now I wouldn't go back for a free meal. I am not a employee...and I forgot I reviewed this location last year.... I just wanted to shout out that we ordered again tonight, and I was totally impressed customer service. Close to closing time, and "Joseph" happily took my order for "this and that" with total patience . Even asked when I was done..."are you sure you don't want anything else?" Honored a coupon I had forgotten to send with my son for pickup...everything was perfect on order.... Chicken was very good...although crust is almost too thick and crunchy for my taste. Thighs were nice and juicy and delicious! Legs could have been taken out a touch sooner...a little too dry. Family loves the fried mushrooms...and we tried bread sticks for the first time! Fought over them! . Much more our taste than biscuits. Also like that there are so many other choices on their menu! 3.5 stars for their chicken. Rounding up because they've given good customer service the times I went. The thick, buttermilk crust on their chicken and mushrooms is phenomenal. Crunchy and flavorful. The inside chicken meat though is a bit bland and not as juicy as I'd like it to be. I usually get their wings for $1 each. On my most recent visit, the jovial employee offered me coupons to use when I picked up their menu pamphlet (I had already ordered at that point). That was an appreciated gesture. We had a large party on Saturday, and we always get catering. This year we chose Brown's in St Charles. They did a fantastic job getting all the food for 80 people ( a house salad for 25, fried mushrooms for 40, fritters for 40, 2 pans of mostaccoli, 2 pans of cole slaw, 2 pans of potato salad, 3 huuuge trays of chicken, 2 pans of italian beef, rolls, peppers, etc.) to our house and it was even warm when it got here! So minimal amounts of warming was necessary. They supplied the trays, napkins, silverware, plates, sterno cans etc. They did an amazing job and everyone was super pleased! Thank you!!!! read more

Shot through drive-thru on our way back from the Allergist (11/24/08) to grab a quick taste. We're considering having their food catered for our little guy's first birthday party. MK got the 3 pc. white meat (2 breasts, 1 wing) along with 1/4 lb. of breaded mushrooms. I got the Italian Beef sandwich, no peppers, no cheese. The 3 pc. also comes with two sides, and we got the cheesy potatoes and mac 'n cheese. The cheesy potatoes were not that bad. The mac well, the noodles had just come out of the water and had residual water on them with the cheese. This made the cheese not stick to the noodles very well, but it was okay. Chicken is always good and was right out of the fryer. The beef sandwich is not too bad. It's not portillo's (what is?) but it will do just fine for a party. read more

Yay! Just like childhood. I'm more of a fried chicken connoisseur than before, but Brown's holds up. We actually ordered over the phone in advance, and the person on the phone was pretty friendly. The chicken was crispy and tasty - not dried out with either white or dark meat. The fried mushrooms were on point. Same tasty bites since the 80s. Kids loved the "fritters," which are sort of a corn fritter/hush puppy mashup. Mashed potatoes were flavorful and gravy did its job. So glad to have this throwback back in our lives. Pretty disappointed to order food at the drive thru, pull up to pay and the guy has no mask and no gloves on. We're looking through the window into the restaurant and the guy prepping our food has a mask on, no gloves. He's opening doors and drawers, hands all over our food with absolutely no regard for anything. Our food gets handed to us and we asked for a refund. Just got lunch from this Browns of 3 chicken tenders, Mac & cheese, and a Pepsi. The chicken was so bad that I literally threw it away, the Mac & cheese would shock me to find out there was any cheese on it, and I'm almost positive that the Pepsi was not actual Pepsi. What can Brown do for you- not cook hot wings. Cant speak for anything but the hot wings and beef and they were both terrible. The beef: chewy, plastic like- meat flavored fruit roll ups dumped in a bun. The hot wings: runt of the litter wings, scraps on a bone. The hot sauce also had a rather bitter taste. This Brown's is the best I've had since living in the south side of Chicago in the early 70's. The chicken is not skimpy,taste is wonderful. I have had Brown's from Schaumbrug, Hoffam Estates, and Carol Stream. They do not compare to the store in St. Charles, Il.! Great service and everything else. My main concern to warn people about are the meal combo prices. I was just there Thursday 6/11/15 and realized that the 6 pc 1 large side and 3 biscuit combo is price $1 higher than if you bought each item separately. I notified the manager and I got $1.08 back but I don't believe that he is going to change the sign. Buyer beware! I love fried chicken and have been known to drag my whole family to Hebron to go to Crandall's to satisfy my cravings. So I am glad there is a choice in St. Charles beside KFC. The Brown,s Chicken in Saint Charles food and catering services is absolutely outstanding! The manager is simply the best. He and his staff know how to prepare the freshest and most tasteful menu of food ever! They recently catered an event at our residence in Campton Hills for over 150 people. The manager delivered our order on time, set up the food which, was hot and ready to be served immediately. Our guests gave rave reviews and are still talking about how good the food from Brown's Chicken was. The menu we served was baked chicken, fried chicken, Mac n cheese, cole slaw, corn on the cob, and mini pastries for dessert. Chose this location which is near I work over the one in dundee by where I live due to their dirty location and terrible reviews. I knew my food would get cold in the 45 minutes it took to get home but I didn't mind. I called ahead and the man running the store was kind enough to wait to start fries until I got there so they'd be fresh. Finally - Browns is back and open. Being local and driving by it everyday wondering and waiting for it to open has been like a kid at Xmas. Stopped in for lunch and they did not disappoint. Like Brian - got the 3 piece. The biscuits were awesome. The chicken was exactly what I remember and expect from Browns. Hey - one thing that no one talks about but should - the Onion Rings.
