One of the most memorable experiences from my trip to England was afternoon tea at the Drawing Room in Brown's Hotel. It was elegant, delicious, and worth every penny. I enjoyed the Afternoon Tea (black) and the Raspberry and Rose tea (fruit/herbal), along with finger sandwiches and small desserts. My favorites were the chicken sandwich and the scones with clotted cream and jam. The service truly made the experience worthwhile. They were constantly checking if your tea needed a refill and if you were interested in another round of drinks or food. As it was my first time, I was unfamiliar with the "proper" way to eat a scone; a staff member saw this and immediately greeted me with an offer to help. There was also a pianist playing music the entire time, which elevated the ambiance even more. I cannot recommend afternoon tea at Brown's Hotel enough and look forward to my next visit.

I just loved the china and decor

The last time I was here was pre-pandemic, yet this still holds as my favorite place for afternoon tea to date. I've had the good fortune to have afternoon tea around the world, and my experience here remains at the top for excellence. The tea here is the perfect blend of sophistication, excellent food/tea, ambience and service in a very relaxed and subdued atmosphere. You can't go wrong here. I met a friend from the states who now lives in London and it was the perfect place to catch up. This is not where I would go for a large party, this is where you go for a more "quiet" experience. Just the perfect blend of everything and the room is so charming and elegant. It was quintessentially British and I just loved it. I look forward to the day I can return!

Review is for high tea at Brown's. This was probably the highlight of our week in London. Probably because I have watched way too many English shows and films and this was exactly what I expected. Bone china, lovely table settings, sandwiches with the crusts cut off and champagne were all great. But the scones! I am still thinking about the scones, clotted cream and jam a month after returning home. It is pricey but the place is so lovely, the service is spot on and you are in the oldest hotel in London. Go. Spend the money and go.

Afternoon Tea at the Brown's Hotel - The Drawing Room one of the best experiences I had here in London. Service was great and admirable.

I came here for afternoon tea and really enjoyed it. Delicious sandwiches and sweets, excellent service in a beautiful and refined setting. Not too many people. Highly recommend.

While I was vacationing in UK, it occurred to me I really had to experience traditional British high tea at a proper place in London again. My friend who is based in London for work promptly recommend that we go to the Brown's hotel as it is one of the more traditional one to havr this experience and, sure enough, wasn't disappointed! If you plan to visit this place, make sure you have a reservation! The space isn't so big and most people I saw had made a reservation ahead of time. The place was also very proper high end...every waiter wearing proper black/white multi piece suit....so dress a little nicer so you would feel comfortable enjoying your high tea there. We went with 1 traditional high tea set and another set of a healthy tea set and ended up sharing everything. The high tea does come with unlimited food refill...so pace yourself! Personally, I prefer the healthy high tea set as..it was much lighter....less buttery and heart clogging ..and just a different/more refreshing take on the snacks! Overall, a nice place to enjoy high tea. Be warned...the set if expenaive..perhaps close to around USD80 pp (and we only went with just tea..no alcohol/champagne!)....so there's really no way you could eat the food that much to make it worth the price. It's something for the experience....and a lil sucked up/stuffy to my taste...but good to try as a tourist or just simply enjoy the afternoon experienc every once in a long while. I personally would have sit longer if my friend didn't have to leave early to catch a flight at the airport. Have fun and enjoy the food there for me if you decided to go there!

I visited Brown's hotel while traveling in the UK. Our group wanted to get the full afternoon tea experience. The hotel itself has a ton of history and is beautifully decorated inside, especially all the Christmas trees. Now we are a casual group, but we dressed up ready to experience a formal tea and it was fun! The servers helped explain the menu and all the courses. I don't even like tea, but found one that I could drink. The hot wine was really good and flavorful. They brought out 5 sandwiches and I enjoyed about half of them. Next we had scones, which were my favorite. Finally they had 8 desserts, which I was most excited to try, however I didn't like the majority even though they were beautiful! If you asked for more of anything, they gladly brought another serving. Our server was great and talked to us about our travels. Overall, it was a great experience and I'm glad I got to visit.

This review is for the traditional afternoon tea only. I am sure the hotel experience is exquisite based on our brief tour of the common areas but we came just for the English Tea Room on a Monday afternoon after several recommendations. Sadly, the entire experience was very underwhelming. The few rooms for tea are charming and the live piano music was a truly lovely touch. But the service along with the food and drink are completely uninspired and not at all what we expected. A side note. We stayed at the Ham Yard and based on their restaurant and the creative options for tea, we probably should have stayed there..instead we opted for the traditional Browns hotel in hopes we would be wowed by a proper British afternoon tea. The white tea I ordered was fine but the water got cold as we dined and the servers weren't on point in refilling it properly. The finger sandwiches were pedestrian at best. The smoked salmon on mini brioche was nice and the chicken curry was ok, but it was really all bread with virtually no filling. The sweets came and they looked quite pretty. The pastries were quite lovely. The scones though were generic looking and tasted drier and almost flavorless, nothing compared to others I had during my stay in London. In fact the ones just down the street at the food hall at Fortnum and Mason were so much more impressive. The preserve was good and the clotted cream which I can best describe as thickened whipped butter was fine. I am glad I had the experience of a traditional English afternoon tea but the mediocre food combined with a lack of emphasis on the tea service itself left a lot to be desired. I guess I was expecting something more like the tea experience of mariage-freres in Paris. If you know what to expect perhaps you won't be disappointed. On the flip side the hotel itself looked stunning and I would consider exploring a stay based on the rave reviews.

Brown's Hotel is just right. Not too large, not too small. The rooms are large and decorated with lovely little pops of colour, the bathrooms are spacious and the restaurant and bar are both AMAZING. Great location, right next to all of the high end shops on Old Bond and New Bond Streets, not far from Soho or Green Park, and an easy walk to Westminster to check off any touristy sites on your list. I travel a LOT, so staff and service is of the utmost importance. Brown's has nailed both. Everyone is spot on from the cdoorman (who celebrates his birthday today!), to the front desk staff who always have smiles, to the servers in the restaurant and in the Donovan Bar who are attentive, yet not overbearing. When I checked in on Saturday, my room wasn't yet ready, so I went to the Donovan Bar where I had a Gran Torino, a scrumptious drink of Johnnie Walker Gold label whiskey, martini bitters, orange liqueur, orange juice and ginger foam! I could have this every day. I soon checked into my junior suite, which was spacious and bright. I stayed here for two nights before moving to the Hellenic Suite for two nights, which is a massive 1200+ sq ft! The full English breakfast is full on...crushed avocado toast, carrot juice, hash browns (served almost like a potato patty) and cappuccino were my go-to choices. Lunch at Beck's on Brown is delicious. Heinz Beck oversees the menu and I hope he stays on at Brown's! The burrata starter was creamy and perfect, my cacio e pepe was a larger portion that I expected and it was so comforting and yummy. A glass of champagne made everything even better, if that's possible. A special shoutout to the front desk manager Janine Mallia...talk about 5 star service with a smile!! She went above and beyond every day! I highly recommend this hotel for a stay, or at least for a drink and a meal!

Are you researching what to eat and pack for London? If so, toss in a dressy outfit for your afternoon tea at Brown's (no jeans or sneakers)! Before you settle into the lounge for afternoon tea, take a moment to explore the beautiful Brown's hotel lobby. It's almost Dec, but not quite yet time for their Holiday tea set. I had an option of their lighter detox set or the traditional afternoon (which as what I went with). Try the Cornish grown tea Assam black tea, the first English growth tea by Tregothnan. The service and hospitality at Browns is spot on, if not a bit stiff, as I've commonly found in London. Come hungry, and settle in. You'll have a lovely two hours to enjoy the service and ambience. The staff is incredible on point in checking in and actively offering a refill on the savory sandwiches. Let them know when you're ready to move on to sweets, and me sure to save room. Their jam and clotted cream are divine, and pastries are almost too beautiful to eat. I also got slices of lemon cake at the end! This is an absolute must for a delightful afternoon of self indulgence and traditional British elegance.

I'll get right to it: stop here for traditional English tea. From the food to the tea to the cute waiters -- everything is perfection. You'll need to make a reservation because the tea room is quite small, but trust -- you'll be glad you did. The selection of tea is marvelous. The cakes, scones (oh, the scones are AMAZING) and jam is top notch. Don't wait on making a reservation here -- just do it!

My 21 year old daughter insisted on afternoon tea. This is definitely as good as it gets. We had the champagne afternoon tea, with beautiful finger sandwiches, desserts, scones with clotted cream- just to die for. Zoltan (hope I spelled that correctly), was an absolute gentleman and made this experience a memory we will never forget. Thank you for a wonderful time. We can't wait to see you again.

High Tea Review Welcoming us to London on our very first day, meeting friends for high tea at Brown's Hotel was definitely in order Dark woods and rich sofas, chairs and loungers welcome us as we enter. Staff was super nice & as I'm looking around, I see people in all walks of attire from fancy to smart jeans & trainers. Props for not being stodgy with the dress code & allowing people to come enjoy your fares however they feel best! Extensive menu and options & there's plenty for the veggie! Refills on everything is super-quick & in fact, after our 1st plate of sandwiches was running low, a friend told the waiter I was veggie & when he brought out their refill plate, there was another whole plate of veggie-only sandwiches just for me. Brilliant! Brie & Chutney, Egg Salad, Cucumber & Cream Cheese, Cheese & Pickle... there wasn't a bad sandwich in the bunch Another thing we really liked was that everything was brought out at the same time. Sandwiches, scones & desserts so we could mix & match our sweet & savory ( Claridge's doesn't do this ) The Scones were super soft & delish - it was heaven having strawberry preserves & *real* clotted cream (we don't get the *real stuff* in the US), the desserts were creative & elegant with puddings, pastries, tarts & macaroons Champers was excellent as well - because, after all, a welcome to London isn't complete without a bit of the sparklie! Overall, I would have to say Brown's is my all time fav for high tea! Brown's received the Tea Guild 2010 Award of Excellence from the UK Tea Council so we knew we were in for something special This also means.... book ahead!

One year later we were back for a mother daughter trip with another mother/daughter. I originally booked the St Ermins again, but then thought it may be fun to switch it up and stay in a new area of London. A friend/travel agent recommended The Marylebone Hotel, which met all of our requirements: - easy to get around in London - fairly priced by London standards - good shopping/restaurant area We arrived a little cranky from our flight in Edinburgh after a 2 hour Uber from the airport. They greeted us warmly and even told me they had an upgrade for me, although ran out of upgraded for my friend which didn't make her happy. To be fair our rooms were right next to each other and I didn't see a difference so don't think mine was really "upgraded" The rooms like most in London were small. I did a leg class one day, which I enjoyed...although got a great leg workout just walking miles and miles around London everyday. The surrounding area was so cute - filled with boutiques (some unique to London and other popular back in the states). There were lots of little cafes to grab a treat as well. We spent a lot of time in covenant garden to see shows on this trip, which was quite the walk but great way to get exercise. And when we returned from the craziness of covenant garden it was nice to be in a quiet area. Breakfast was included in our daily rate. The buffet was adequate and I enjoyed eggs and coffee from the menu. We also received a $50 room credit, which we used to raid the mini bar the last day for some airplane snacks. They helped us with directions and answer any questions we had. I would definitely stay here again!

I'm a huge fan of the Hotel Indigo chain and this location is absolutely perfect if you are coming…read morein from the airport. The rooms can be a bit small and there is very little room to put your toiletries in the bathroom. The large bowl-shaped sink takes up most of the counter so you are forced to squeeze in your stuff uber and around the bowl. Sadly, the faucet BARELY makes it over the edge of the bowl so when you wash your hands, water goes everywhere and ends up spreading around the counter and gets your toiletries wet! Ugh!! That one detail is definitely not up to the normal Hotel Indigo standard in my opinion. Whoever designed the bathroom should never be hired again! This should be a 3 star review based on that. But.... The saving grace was the front desk and the maintenance guy. We quickly discovered that our safe didn't work. The front desk got the maintenance guy to our room quickly and he reset it. When we were ready to leave, it failed again so they summoned the maintenance guy again. He reset it but it failed again. So he proceeded to replace the safe. Those things are HEAVY!!! The poor guy had to lug it up from downstairs, unbox it, take out the old one, install the new one and then lug the old one back downstairs!! This guy was sweating profusely but handled everything so professionally. So kudos to him and the front desk for making this happen so quickly, thus the 4 stars!!
