Our first actual camping instead of glamping and this was the perfect spot. We didn't have to be afraid of wild animals or crazies showing up middle of the night as there are so many campers around. The view is magnificent and is 360° of gorgeous mountains. We came a day later than scheduled but good thing we did that because we were able to get a river front spot from a cancellation. Their bathrooms are clean, there is even a port-a-potty for those who don't want to walk all the way to facilities. Only issue here is that we are way too close to the next person camping. We didn't enjoy one of our neighbors on our first night, as they were busy minding our business when our fire got high and was talking amongst themselves about why we were on our phone while the fire was high, instead of tending to it? lmao read more

I've been coming to this campground to park and fish and just spend time at Owen's River for 38 years. Ever since I was a little girl with my Grandpa who is no longer with us. This place always makes me feel closer to him. I went into the office today to take my niece for her first time and the woman in the office refused to let us park and was extremely rude. We told her we just want to sit by the river she said "it's really hard to get chairs in there." Have you ever lifted your arms above your head? No it's not hard to get chairs in there. When I told her we've always been able to just come into the office and pay and go park she said "I've worked here for 2 years and I have never seen you". Wow 2 whole years! I obviously don't live up here and drove a long way. We come up once a year. You wouldn't remember my face. And I'm not always the one that goes inside. Such a disappointment when people are so miserable in such a beautiful place. And how terrible to ruin people's day that come a long way to just enjoy nature. read more

This is a great campground for those with RV's/trailers. Beautiful views. A bit noisy with off-roading vehicles. The first night we stayed there was a TON of bugs and it was hot without any shade. I do not recommend tent camping during the blazing summer months. Bring lots of shade with you. Restrooms and showers are nice and clean so that is a plus. read more

Had our 1st stay at this campground and it was THE BEST. This is a seasonal operation that starts booking in April (see website/FB). The sites are very spacious and offer a few amenities like picnic table and fire ring. There's a general store onsite with above par selection of beverages, camping goods, fishing gear, and food items etc. in case you forgot anything. Also have firewood and ICE!!!! Next to the store is a public restroom (nice and well maintained) along with 5 shower rooms. Hot water is available with the purchase of tokens inside the store. Very refreshing after a day in the sun, especially on a warm day, which we had during recent West Coast Heatwave. The owners Doug & Kelli are extremely wonderful owners and have a GREAT crew to aid in your needs. We loved our stay here and will be back next year, and others to come. Nothing bad to say about camping but the fishing was nonexistent in August and WATCH OUT FOR THE GAME WARDEN. Barbed hooks are not permitted starting Aug 1 and the game wardens are ruthless when it comes to ticketing. $479 minimum. read more

Sites are very close to either other. They're very strict on quiet hours and you have to sign a paper acknowledging it, which is great! Mosquitoes weren't bad and the views were beautiful. Didn't go into the store or showers for anything but they seem nice. read more

From an avid camper. Restroom: super clean and the showers 90% of the time hot. Between 8 people only once was the water cold over a 3 day period Campsite: no shade anywhere. Make sure you bring plenty of canopies and not cheap flimsy ones, the wind will shed them right up. Host and Staff: all very friendly and insightful on the area. Swimming in the river: not really an option, there is way to much cow shit floating downstream. This is definately cow country and guess where all the cow shit goes, yepp, the water your suppose to be swimming in. Activities around the area: less than 5 minutes away are some really nice hotsprings and mammoth lakes are only 15 minutes away. I would give more stars but one of the selling points was on the river read more

If I could give this campground 10 stars I would. What a wonderful hidden gem of the Sierra. We had driven past this campground many times over the years and finally decided to check it. We spent 5 days here. We even extended our reservations 1 more day because we were having such a wonderful trip. There are not any hookups. You can run generators til 10 at night. Spaces are large and spacious. It is very dark at night so bring flashlights. I would recommend a battery operated bug zapper. Showers were clean with plenty of hot water. You have to purchase tokens in the store for hot water in the showers. Kelly and Donna in the store were so friendly. Thank you Brown's Owens River for such a fun wonderful experience. My family and I cannot wait to come back next year. read more

The owners/staff/management are OK and the spaces are decent sized. But the crowd has changed over the years. Now there are too many ginormous RVs and some of those don't follow the rules with regards to hours of use of generators. The management does not enforce the rules. Many of these monstrous RVers bring screaming kids. One poor boy was hysterical and thought there were monsters in the showers. A girl staying in one of the RVs started screaming as loudly as I ever heard a person scream at 4am. I was about to call the sheriff but the horrible racket abruptly stopped when I started dialing. Hot water for showers that you buy tokens for is usually cold. Many sneak in and just take cold showers. I would advise people in tents or motorcycle campers or ADV Dual Sport riders to avoid this place. read more

This is by far one of the best campgrounds in the area. Clean, spacious and well kept. It's right on the river and has a well stocked general store and token showers. The hosts/owners were super friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back. read more

$33 a night no hookups, no dump, no electricity no nothing. occasional water at a few faucets around the grounds. Vicious dogs welcome so beware, they do get loose and tragedy will happen. Keep a pistol handy to protect your love ones. Nice folks run the place. Fishing on site Owens River flows next to the site and direct OHV trail access. Highly restricted generator hours. On 8am to 10 pm and that sux. Fits all size rigs. Community showers and out houses. read more

Gale from their main office was horribly rude and disrespectful. We gave a CC# to book the site and left without paying because we assumed the CC would be charged (like MOST campgrounds). Apparently they wrote down the CC# incorrectly and blamed me for skipping out on them and threatened legal action. Yep, for $36! I'm disgusted with this establishment. Get into the 21st century people! Needless to say I won't be staying there again!!! read more

Great campground for the location it's in, but I just wish that there were more (or at least some for that matter) trees for shade. We were there for a family camping trip and it got extremely hot, as in triple digits hot, and there were no trees in site to provide any shade, which overheated not only myself, but also my dog, the good thing was that there was a place to go swimming a short drive up the mountain. There could have been a few more outhouses, or restroom type facilities with showers closer to our site so we wouldn't have to continually drive to the camp store just for showers. It's a nice location to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. read more

Spent 2 nights there. The gal that runs the place (sorry, forgot her name) is super nice. They have a lot of variety in their little store. We had river front lot that was huge and we shared it with our daughter and her family. Had to pay double which makes perfect sense. They have a washer and dryer that didn't work after I put 2 loads in and was left with sopping wet clothes. She refunded my money without me even asking. Just don't plan on doing laundry there. Loved all the grassy meadow. Didn't care much for the wind but that's Mother Nature. Would go again but defnitely river front only or you will get dusted out by people driving by. read more

We just got here and so far I love it. Bring your own shade as there are no trees. The views are gorgeous though. Fishing is steps away from some of the sights. I wish we had a Ranger or Razor because it looks like a great place to explore. The outhouses are super clean. No hookups, but there are showers and a little general store. While the look of Brown's Owens River Campground appears quite barren compared to the campgrounds to the West of CA 395, it does have plenty of spots available along a prime area of the upper owens. Imagine, waking up and fishing only paces away from your campsite. This campground makes an ideal spot for anglers and hunters who are fishing on the Upper Owens or Hot Creek. There is a small general store, hot showers, and campfire rings.. Don't expect picturesque -- Just a great spot for a base camp.... just be careful for the mosquitos in early spring. read more

I've been camping here since I was a kid. It's a bit different than other campgrounds, more of a dessert feel I think, but still mountainish. You can camp right next to the Owens, view an absolutely amazing sky at night, fish the Owens all day, view the beautiful surrounding mountain vistas, and head out for day trips in the surrounding areas. This campground holds a special place in my heart I guess. I absolutely love camping here. read more

The campground was beautiful! We we're lucky enough to get a spot right on the river. The gentleman in the front that checked us in was so nice and helpful and his dog Kate was so cute. This was a very mellow location and the campgrounds were pretty much quiet at 8pm. Stunning views of the mountains. They have showers and bathrooms that were very clean. The best part is the campground is it's far enough away from the highway that you feel secluded but then again, you're only 10 minutes away from the village if you wanted to go into town. Loved this campground. Amazing sites and views. Great off road trails. It's remote and rustic with no hook ups, but there is water near the office to fill your tank upon arrival. The staff were friendly, they do enforce the camp rules. We will go back every chance we can. read more
