After a long day at the park on Canada Day, we were looking for a place to have dinner. Many restaurants were full, and some were closed. My wife suggested we try Browns since they had a few seats available, which was perfect for our party of eight. We were glad we chose Browns! The hostess was very accommodating, providing boosters for my kids and a high chair. Our server came to take our drink orders and informed us about the kids' menu, which is available online. We didn't take any pictures because everyone was pretty hungry, haha! We ordered calamari, which was really good. The fish tacos came with two tacos per order and were a generous size, along with your choice of fries or salad. We also ordered a few two-piece fish and chips, which were fresh and crispy. I had the spicy crispy chicken sandwich with fries, and it was really good! Everything was served hot, and we had an enjoyable time overall! They got our orders wrong and came back with it SECONDS later, so they just swapped stuff around on a plate and called it "fixed" My medium steak was rare. We had our family Christmas get together on the Saturday night, five days before Christmas. We were a party of 20. The service was excellent, manager and staff accommodated us so well from the initial reservation to the end of the night. All our meals were fresh and delicious and the get together was wonderful right down to our server taking our group family photo. I don't know what more you could expect! Haven't been to this location since before the pandemic. We used to be regulars. First notice is the massive price increases. Yes prices have gone up everywhere but u better have the quality to go with it. The cauliflower bites were delicious, absolutely perfect but they were cheap on the dill dip. Sadly the bartender did not know how to make a basic drink- a greyhound and put soda in it. Thumbs down. Chicken burger was good. Cod tacos were fishy tasting, soggy batter, and too much goo snd the whole thing was soggy and not nice and the flavor was off. Did not enjoy. Bothe fries and yam fries were under seasoned. Either the bar tender or manager not sure which was wearing smelly cologne and every time they walked by the table we just about gagged. We will not be back. read more

Why we stopped coming here.... We were really excited when a Brown Social House opened in the hood couple of years ago. "Finest" sports bar we could think of at the time is probably Browns. But progressively it got more expensive and more about "finer" dining. It lost its objectivity. Came here about a dozen times for drinks, lunches, breakfast, dinners and happy hours. So have a good grasp of their menu and offerings. Food is a mixture of Canadian collection; you got your comfort food, and Asian fusion dishes. Very similar to offerings from likes of Earls, Milestones Chop etc. Typical upscalish Canadian restaurant. Nothing particularly outstanding but slightly above average in quality and taste. 7/10. But the dishes are not particularly unique or memorably their own. Ambiance is decent. Like the low key interiors, and comfortable seating. Nothing screaming look at me. A place you can just focus on your time. But not very memorable though. Still, comfort trumps unique experience for a sports bar 7.5/10 Service is the mix bag. Being ethnically challenged, Asian male, and frequenting these kind of dives is asking for it. Service is typically bad. The young wait staff, often do as little as as possible while being as aloof as possible. When we come in as a larger group with families, the service is stellar. When just bunch buds out for a drink, the service level would drop to 0. Service score 5/10. Given we have drank more often than dined in, overall experience of the service is poor Price is on the premium side. This is only justifiable if your dining experience in totality was warranted. Often this is not. 5/10 for value. Overall score: 24.5/40 = 49% Life is too short for bad experiences. Just move on. So much to discover. read more

This place was a great surprise as I have not been to a Browns in years and I had previously been very disappointed with their prices and menu. However, after stopping at Cactus Club and seeing their selections and prices ($42 for a bottle of house wine!!!! that was not really very good at all), my bestie and I grabbed our coats and drove 4 min farther to Browns Social House. We were looking for a hostess to see if we were to seat ourselves when this pleasant young man with a huge friendly smile came up and asked if we needed help. (I assumed he was a server.) He said we could sit where we wanted and we chose a nice corner table and sat down. We laughed and told the waitress about our day. (Another whole story). Needless to say, the wine was very good and reasonably priced, the food was tasty and served quickly and the young man who had seated us came over and was actually the manager! Our server had told him of our ridiculous day and he actually came and talked to us and thoroughly added positivity to our evening of a very long and crazy day. Carter is excellent at his job and our server said they all think he's just the best. So I stand corrected on my previous thoughts of Browns. Carter and his staff changed my mind completely and instead of going to Cactus Club I will most definitely stop here instead. And currently, their Happy hour menu has changed and is now half price wine from 3-5 every day! We will try that next time for sure! read more

The presentation was good, but it was hard to get a bite of everything in one go when first starting. I'm not a fan of Browns overall (overpriced for the small portions and just okay food), but if I had to come back again for someone's birthday, I'd totally get this dessert again. For being a "social house" I didn't find it very social. I sat at the bar with my drink. No one talked to me. The bar tenders didn't strike up a conversation and neither did people sitting on either side of me. Meh. I ordered a "social soda" and I didn't like it. I ordered multiple drinks, they all came in short glasses stuffed with ice. Not a good value for the price. The interior is urban and quite trendy. Seems clean. However there are televisions every where. Too many in my opinion, and they are all playing sports. It seems like it's always busy. There were people waiting around at the door for a table. Went to Browns to catch up with some friends over Social hour. Great location, very close to the mall. I got the social soda, good price but nothing special flavour wise. We shared 3 items from the social hour menu- edamame, calamari, and the nachos. The edamame was a smaller portion than expected. Calamari was great and the nachos did not disappoint. By far my favourite place get nachos as they are always loaded with toppings! Because we were there for a social/happy hour, prices were reasonable. This is a great place to hang out with friends in the TriCities community. It's hip, ambiance is trendy, service is prompt and menu has a good selection but needs a bit of change every now and then to keep it interesting. If you need a snack, they have a good selection of appetizers and a good drink selection. The usual dishes I have are: thai chicken soup, nachos, salt & pepper dry ribs, classic hot wings and quesadillas. The appetizers are a little on the expensive side for the portion size ranging in price from $8 - 14 per plate. An interior designer's nightmare. What is going on here? Is the DJ on Adderal? Yet, the happy hour specials are good, as are the menu items. It's a big mashup and I was drawn to it as a 6 year old is drawn to McDonalds! The service was friendly, if a bit slow. But some days all I want is some avocado toast ( and no, I'm a tail-end boomer, no millennial) and Brown's, wherever the location, tends to consistently deliver. ( another fave is the gluten-free salt and pepper ribs) I quite enjoyed camping out, using the wifi for a couple of hours and nibbling while I got some work done. Milestone's, Joey's or Brown's, no thank you... After the 10th time it becomes a tediously heavy endeavour for my tastebuds. I feel like the little boy who says "I don't like Koala", except I say I.D.L.C.F_D.C.R™ in Vancouver. Hey Wait a Darn Minute... Isn't this a review of Brown's? (and a 5 star review at that g?) My folks told me about this Fantastic burger they do at Brown's Coquitlam branch called the Hollywood Burger. I had to have it. I love Burgers. Especially amazing ones. The Hollywood burger is a take on an In N Out Burger that shames the original, with fries that kick the backside of the fries found down in the California chain. Bun: soft and warm, buttery and crispy chewie Patty: flavourful and perfect consistency fixins: Cheesy, saucy, crisp lettucy, pickly goodness Fries: crisp, hot, tasty and melt in your mouth. I don't come here often. When I do the hostesses are lovely, the service is prompt, fun and attentive. They seem to know my folks and treat them like regulars. When I come it's from one reason. The burger. (and the beer, always the beer) (Social Lager) I've never been disappointed. So this Brown's is one casual fine dining restaurant I can say yes to: Coquitlam Branch only. Browns is always fantastic when it comes to service and the quality of their food. I have some dietary restrictions so they are always more than willing to substitute menu items for something else and help me customize my order. Staff are really friendly and the wait times aren't too bad even during peak hours on week nights and weekends. It's really great that they are close to the mall in case I'm not feeling fast food and that there is street parking and a private lot conveniently located in the rear. Would definitely recommend Browns opposed to some of the other options in the area. read more

It's nice to see places like this popping up near town center. When they were building all these high rises, I definitely envisioned it being a hip and happening little core for young professionals to live, shop and eat. Unfortunately, it just seemed overrun with dentist offices, day spas and nothing else. Fast forward a year to my last visit. This area has changed for the better! And where did all these Brown's come from? Every where I go, there's a Browns. Is there like a hundred of them? I was excited to try Brown's, especially since it is walking distance to my in-laws house. We decided on late lunch on a Friday. We were seated right away on the patio... and then we waited. And waited. Finally about 10 minutes later our waitress brings us menus. A few minutes later we receive our drinks but she fails to get our food order. Another ten minutes pass and finally, she's back to take our order. This was quickly turning into a late, long lunch! I tried the blueberry vodka drink. Very refreshing. On to the food! We started with chicken nachos and then I had the fish and chips, my sister had the fish tacos and the hubby had a spicy chicken burger. We LOVED the food. Zero complaints. Especially the nachos. They were awesome. Prices are a little on the high side. Service is slow, slow, slow. Even for a very quiet time of the day with only a dozen or so patrons. Would I be back? Definitely! read more

I had lunch with a friend last weekend at this location and it is pretty much the same experience as any other Browns location. This one is a bit small compared to others, but it has the same decor. The service was really good, as was the food. I ordered the appetizer chicken quesadilla and a virgin raspberry Mojito. I'm not a fan of black beans or red pepper relish, so I always get my quesadilla without those. Love the spicy kick from the jalapenos and the salsa and guacamole always taste very fresh. Tip for Parking: along Glen Drive, it is paid parking in front and East of the restaurant, however, there is free parking just 1/2 a block west - basically across the street. I also heard there's free underground parking around there as well, but I'm not sure where the entrance is. read more

This is a newer restaurant { part of a chain } that has been in the process of establishing it's staff for quite some time now. It seems as though they are having quite a bit of trouble doing that. I answered their ad and forwarded my resume. The response was "come in tomorrow between 2-4 pm" which I did. I was interviewed asked to fill out an application form and was told I would be contacted if chosen. Some several weeks past and I saw the same ad running again. I answered the ad and forwarded my resume again. This time however the response was signed by the owner and went like this " Can you please come down tomorrow between 2-4 pm". Which I did. We agreed to meet at 2 pm. The owner was not there when I arrived. Instead i was interviewed by someone else and told to just leave my resume { which they already had }. A few days went by and i saw the same ad posted again. So as always I forwarded my resume again...now a third time. The response was can you come in tomorrow between 3-4 pm ? to which I replied 'Mr X, pardon me but, this would be the third time I have been asked to come by your establishment. On both prior occasions I have been asked to fill out your application forms or drop off my resume. If you want an interview with me...please call my Cell phone at to arrange it. Thank you A few minutes later my phone rang and it was the owner...I explained the situation to him and was told and I quote " you are going all about this the wrong way ". No apology was even made for failing to make our appointment ! ! ! I suppose these people feel that since they are in a position of power they can get away with not having proper manners ! I was invited down 3 times for an interview. On the first two occasions i was asked the usual questions eg; where have you worked before , why did you leave etc. those interviews both ended with " we are just collecting resumes at this time and we will let you know. The second time I was called in for an interview I was to be meeting with the owner. It was agreed that we would meet at 2 pm. He never bothered to show up. Nor did he even try and notify me that we was unable to make it. These people are supposed to be the leaders in the HOSPITALITY business and should remember that EVERY PERSON they interact with is a potential customer. FURTHERMORE, i have tried their menu and found the portions to be small, overpriced { at least a 100% markup } and the staff to be rude amongst other things. I would not recommend them read more

First visit to Brown's Coquitlam did not go well. Worst table in the place, and it was only 6:00, plenty of room. We asked and were moved and our waitstaff person disappeared! Finally flagged her down and she told us we have to be out of our table by 7:30 because it was reserved! Good luck with that. Maybe if the service ramped up we could have been gone by close to 7:30, but it was not to be. Food was ok, but everything else not. Second time we chose our table and ensured it was ours for as long as we wanted!! This time it was the food.... People, if you have seared ahi tuna on the menu it has to be fresh. Horrible, inedible. Then the key lime pie...the crust was rancid. We made the manager/owner come and taste it and he told us all the pies would be thrown out. Hopefully. No more chances, Browns. My first experience roughly three months ago was not good. As a result I emailed and complained. Within hours I received a response from the owner and experienced customer service that was second to none. Michael invited me back and apologized for my less than satisfy experience. His concern was very real and genuine. It took a little time to make it back but last nite four of us went for dinner. It was perfect and Micheal took care of the 150.00 tab. I can't tell you how impressed I am. The food was great. Service was friendly and fast. Will definitely be going back and will be recommending Browns to everyone. Nice decor and the ambiance is supposed to be great for catching up with friends. However, during our first visit on the new year's eve. Things were way below expectations. 1. The drinks were roughly made and barely had any taste of alcohol. (We are two young ladies, and are everything but alcoholics.) 2. Our server was a very sweet lady, but she literally asked us if we wanted to order more for roughly 5 times during our less-than-one-hour stay. Yes, we only ordered two drinks and nacho. But it was our second round after a nice dinner. We ended up leaving early because she made us feel we are two stingy young ladies who'd been taking the spots for too long.(and yes, there were still plenty of seats available and no parties were waiting at all) 3. We waited 15mins after we ordered for our drinks.. it's okay I kept an eye on them as I watched them sit at the bar for about 10 of them. Then they tell us they are out of the dynamite rolls like common guys!! Food at this one is not so good but it matches the service so what can we do!? We dine here quite often. We love that we can walk there from home. We were there again last night. Normally we dine late afternoon, but yesterday we were there around 7:30 and it was crazy. Very noisy. But service/food were good. Not great but good. I love the Dragon bowl with the tofu. Hubby loves the wonton soup. I enjoy their Grapefruit Basil Martini. I am looking forward to when they change the menu a bit, I am getting a little bored with it and since we dine here at least every two weeks I am looking forward to a change. Our friends had a pasta dish and it was very dry, but they were able to get extra sauce on the side that helped. The staff are quick to address any issues you have. I love that the staff now know us and even know our favorite drinks. One thing I don't like is all the tvs with the sports, feels more like a sports bar than a restaurant. read more

Thankfully my dad remembered that Browns had brunch, and what an amazing idea that was. Food was hands-down delicious, everyone really enjoyed their food (I am in love with their benny). For this occasion we got La Petite Social Salad and Big Breakfast Burrito, the Prosciutto Eggs Benedict, and also the Biltmore pizza. The only problem I had was that they don't ask you how you want your poached eggs done, which, the weird part was, I got both soft and hard (lol what??) I think the table next to us had theirs sent back because of the same problem, but I did not mind as much. Service was pleasant and attentive, extra bonus for the carnation they gave my mom! Plus did I mention I am in love with their benny? hehe We enjoyed it so much, we went again this past weekend. Food was still fantastic, and this time we tried the Kale, Quinoa and Chicken Salad and the Almost Famous Fried Egg Sandwich, as well as my benny and the delicious Biltmore pizza (which I forgot to mention is $9 on sundays and mondays) This time around the bennys were perfect, nice and runny just the way I like it. Not all Browns are created equally. This particular one in Coquitlam does not hold a candle to the one in Port Moody. I will go to the Port Moody Browns even though the Coquitlam restaurant is closer to me. I personally know one superb worker who has already left due to the owner and I also know several on their way out due to the rudeness and mismanagement of the owner. I read a review of the Coquitlam Browns prior to posting this and was not at all surprised to read the negative experience on the part of one applicant and his completely negative experience with the hiring process - in particular the owner. This owner does not have the management skills and capability to nurture and maintain a staff of customer focused workers. Only workers who can not get a job anywhere else will be willing to put up the the mistreatment from the owner at this Browns. read more

Music was way too loud, and my wife and I had to yell at each other (which we prefer to do at home) to be heard...it took 25 mins to be served our first drinks...they were comp'd by the owner but 'seriously!!!' 25 mins??? We usually drive from Maple Ridge to the Browns in Port Moody, but since one opened up in Coquitlam, we decided to give it a shot. It's was only two blocks walk from my mothers home so my wife and I walked down with her for lunch today. We arrived at 12 noon on a Saturday and there were only a few patrons. Within the hour the place was almost full including the patio. The hosted was wonderful and sat us immediately, brought us water without asking , pointed out the washrooms and took our drink order. We ordered a round of their signature $4 house draft beers and checked the menu out. Mom had the Pad Thai and was happy. My wife and I had the soup/salad/garlic toast combo. My wife had the Thai soup and loved it, and I had the French onion soup and ceasar salad combo. Loved it! We will definitely return. P.S. Browns are opening up everywhere. One is opening up in Maple Ridge by our house. Can't wait. Still we will frequent the Coquitlam one as it is close to moms. read more
