    John B burger and fries
    Michael L.

Returned on a Friday at 11:30 am when it opened in a group of four. And again there were people lined up to get in...they must be doing something right. They have a fairly large menu and after a quick review, I opted to stay with the John B burger and fries. It is a substantial burger with bacon, cheese and mushrooms. The taste and presentation of the burger was ok. I had a few of the fries then passed them on to another in our group. They were also just ok. There was no burger and beer special this day and our server advised there are no specials on Fridays. I was there to catch up with friends and the John B did provide this. There was no issue with the service but the food was nothing of note and with so many other dining options close by, I have no plans to return.

not so little italy sub and blue mountain queso fries

for $4 surprise IPA, Pilsner or Sour, you cannot go wrong for drinks on a thursday. i stopped here looking for dinner night of arrival in Vancouver and was pleasantly surprised with a wider variety of food options other than what is normally served at a local pub. the waitresses were so kind! although, be sure to expect to wait an extra 15 mins to order after getting your drinks on a super busy day like thursday's deal! the sub was delicious, slightly sweet with the balsamic reduction sauce and the pepperochini gives the italian deli style sub a great little kick. portions were well sized, not too large but still filling enough that i needed to take half home! highly recommend this place for people wanting a good place to catch up with friends or have a more casual yet quality date on the patio. (where we were) thank you for the great food!

Second time visiting, ordered the Nashville side chick burger this time, got the spare change cheeseburger and calamari last time. Taste 0/1* Their cheese burger is surprisingly good, though can not say the same with the other 2 items. Value 1/1* Happy hour has good selection of beer at good price, my personal fav is the yellow dog. Interesting side note: their Tuesday special is beer and burger for $14, but it's the regular cheese burger and coors, which adds up to $12.50 during happy hour... Service 1/1* Fast and friendly Cleanliness 1/1* Decently clean for a pub Overall/Revisit 1/1* Would be back for a beer Paying for ambience? 0/-1* NO Above and beyond? 0/+1* NO

Mr. Consistency. John B is a goto for classic pub interior, regulars at the bar, servers who know your name, a menu that is surprisingly robust and yet each item delivers. There's even a damn fireplace in the upper section to sit around. It's mellow vibes it's nostalgia it's awesome. Every other pub in Coquitlam fears it. The beer list has always been a point of pride and it should be - they have been consistently on the cutting edge of new craft beers before anyone else. 100% worth a visit.

    Overly crispy Mac and cheese

So I have been raving to my coworkers about the food, so we came by yesterday for the happy hour. Was disappointed to see my wings looked over cooked. Tried one bite only to confirm they were over cooked. The waitress took them back, and the next plate came rather quickly but looked the same tried one bite and was not satisfied. So I ordered the crispy Mac and cheese to go only to realize that it was nothing like the one I have had before. I think they need to change the oil. Very disappointed in the quality of food, and will not bring anyone here for food just drinks.

Lunch at John B pub in Coquitlam was great. Wings were on sale for $10 and we did salt and pepper, so good! I love a good wing that is crispy but not greasy. Perfectly cooked steak sandwich, yummy Bao buns with pork belly, Szechuan wontons, nom nom nom, Fish and Chips and seared sea scallops with risotto.

    Onion rings - excellent!

A good local spot for casual dining. Service is always friendly and the menu has good variety.

No there isn't avovado hiding under tomato, and other half was about the same .

Just a local watering hole where the owners can count on a steady stream of regulars and new faces daily . Seems to me that maybe with all these regulars consistently supporting them they would trea tthem a little better. Heres a picture of a vegetarion snadwich that was served by them . When I inquired as to why if the Avocado was a meat replacement why was it so small ? And where were the sprouts ? She sympathized but then quickly looked and said o no there are sprouts !Then points at the ten visible LOFL ( I honestly couldn't find them .) The service was prompt and efficeient she quickly came back with a bowl of sprouts. Seeya John !

**COVID-19 REOPENING REVIEW** **HAPPY HOUR REVIEW** The hubs and I were searching for a good happy hour around the area we were at on a September Saturday, and we stumbled upon this place. We confirmed via phone call that HH is on until 6pm daily and off we drive! Customer service: We arrived at the pub around 5:02pm. We were asked for our contact information and away we were seated in the upper landing area. There are some printed communal menus while the entire menu is updated online. The server came by quite promptly and asked if we are ready with our order. I ordered a double gin and soda ($7) and The Hubs ordered a 6oz house wine ($5.50) and a BBQ chicken flatbread ($10); and then later followed by another double highball with a calamari order ($10). Speed of delivery for the drinks were efficient and accurate. Didn't skim on the volume! The server appeared to be less personable with us Asians, but it don't matter to us...we are used to it when we lived in smaller towns. Atmosphere: I'm so in love with the bar's pale gold and mirrors design. It reminds me of some good ol' fashion Vegas bars that I loved. The crowd reminds me of some BC small towns that I used to live. There are plenty of TV's everywhere to enjoy all kinds of sporting events. The tables are adequately spaced out and we felt comfortable in the seating arrangements. Kitchen service: The service was reasonable timing of 10mins from ordering. Price, portion, taste: We were very happy with the portions and how both the flatbread and calamari turned out. The prices during happy hour are super decent for both drinks and food. Taste-wise, stick to the pub food of choice and you can't go wrong. Both the flatbread and calamari were crispy and well-flavoured. They also serve over 70+ type of beer where a flight of 4 only sets you back $6.65 (I believe they are 5oz each). Overall: We are very happy with the atmosphere, the price, portion and taste. We will certainly come back again!

Dont do it. Dont order this.

Have you ever craved eating a bowl of salt? Look no further...at the JohnB you can get exactly that by ordering the Wonton Soup. And if you want to dry your mouth out further, get the potato skins..which are literally just skin with flavorless cheese.

Pork and chicken Bao bun and truffle fries

Great place for a date night or family dinner. Their truffle fries are delicious!!! I get them every time.

I come here often with my co-workers, as it is one of the better pubs in the area that like. But for me, this place just does not do it. They have a very extensive menu of items, from pasta's to sandwich's, to drinks, the taste and the atmosphere just doesn't jive with me. I'm not trying to slag the place in anyway, as you are getting real good portions for your buck. If you have a small stomach like I do, you end up packing almost half of it. The place definately needs a facelift on the inside, as it seems like this place hasn't had a reno in more than 10 years. The seating area is really big, and there even is a pool table near the back. There's enough tv screens all around for you to catch whatever game that is being played. The service here is pretty good, as the waitresses treat you well, but when it's busy here, it's hard to flag down service at times. The parking here is nice, as they are located in a nice big plaza, and the beer selection here is pretty big.

There's free parking outside, just register your license plate when you enter the building. I went with 2 other friends on a Saturday night. The place was pretty full but we got lucky and only had wait a few minutes for a table. It was decently loud inside but it was still easy to have a conversation. The waitress we got was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. I'm also super envious of her memory because there's no way I can remember who had which drink without writing it down for so many tables throughout the night!!! My friend also asked for a drink recommendation for the last round and she gave a great one. There's a lot of selection for drinks, as well as food. I really like their shared plates of finger food like tater tots and onion rings. My fish and chips were also very good. The table beside us ordered nachos and it looked huge and very delicious.

Aside from the time warp location, the food is easily 4*s, and honestly, I'd say it's better than White Spot as a comparable. The clubhouse sandwich contained actual turkey breast, not the deli turkey breast slices a lot of places use. That's an easy win right there. Very reasonable pricing to boot! It's basically a sports bar/pub grub menu set up. Pool tables as well. Lighting is on the darker side, with friendly and courteous service. They chat with you since they're curious as to how you know about the place. It's definitely not on too many peoples' radar for sure. They seem to like their hockey, as there are a couple of jerseys hanging. Guy Lafleur, Paul Henderson's autographed jersey from the Summit Series 1972, and a couple of others. Located in the basement of the Lougheed Village Mall, which is literally the Land that Time Forgot. I'm not exaggerating. Come and have a look for yourself. Free validated parking if you eat here. Recommend that you go for a stroll in the upper and lower levels and the courtyard whilst you're here. Maybe come in the evening during Halloween. You won't need to spook yourself out at a graveyard. This mall will suffice you plenty.

Wings are $2 more ($12.99) - I should have taken a pic or two of the menu to get all of the differences. Obviously, you're supplementing cost with your DD fees when you order delivery. The fellow behind the bar was super-friendly. He was working solo (dropped in there about 1:30pm on a Wed - not exactly "happy hour") :). I ordered two pints of their near-hazy pale ale, wings and potato skins and it came to $45. Not horrible, but the wings were the smallest size that Sysco sells (think pigeon) and the potato skins were tiny as well. Shrunken that the fillings didn't fill the skin. Repeat? Nope. Though, hate to say that as I found the bartender quite personable. There were a few regulars at the bar when I dropped in. Hoping this place sees a lot more activity on regular pub nights. Suggestions: get the medium-sized chicken wings (not the ginormous "turkey-sized wings"!) and make certain that the potato skins at least get alll of the potato back into them before you add the topings. :)

I recently took my mom (Thursday at around 9pm) there for her birthday and used a gift certificate I'd bought her, hoping for a nice evening together. It was fairly quiet and we got our food and drinks quite quickly. Unfortunately, the service was consistently lacking. We were never offered or brought water. Only one set of cutlery was brought for two people. I asked for no tomatoes on my shrimp sandwich, but it arrived with tomatoes anyway. My mom requested dressing on the side, but it came already on her salad. We also weren't asked if we wanted our bread toasted--it just arrived toasted. She never brought ketchup for the fries either (but in all fairness, I didn't ask either). The table beside us also had issues. I overheard the server admit she'd forgotten to put in part of their order, and they were clearly frustrated. When it came time to pay with the gift certificate, the server said she wasn't sure how to process it. Rather than asking a coworker for help, she pulled up a chair at our table, put her head in her hands, and tried to figure it out herself. It was awkward and not very professional. To top it off, she stopped to pet a customer's dog and then went straight back to serving food. While the dog was adorable, I would have expected her to wash or sanitize her hands before continuing to serve guests. The food itself was just okay (for a shrimp sandwich, there was minimal shrimp - it should be the tomato and avocado sandwich) and didn't make up for the service. As someone who's been coming here for decades, it was disappointing to see the overall experience fall so far below what I remembered. Sadly, after a couple of underwhelming visits, I don't think I'll be returning.
