Pricey - as expected for a Marriott hotel bar/restaurant. There are a lot of options in a very short walk nearby if you're looking for something a little cheaper. But sometimes you're tired and just want to eat at your hotel. For those times, Brown's is pretty good. Although it's mostly a steak-place type of menu, I had a surprisingly good pizza because that's what I was in the mood for. They have a good selection of beer and wine, I didn't check out the cocktails but other people seemed to enjoy those as well. We booked for a special occasion brunch and it was a major disappointment. Felt like an absolute scam. Although we don't mind paying more for a nice meal, it was basically just an over charged hotel continental breakfast with lukewarm potatoes, meat, and some fruit. There was option for omelets which were fine, and also fish. However, the fish station stunk up the restaurant to the point where we preferred to sit outside. Came for Thanksgiving with the family, 5 of us. We were seated at a table with 8 place settings, instead of a normal sized table for 6. We had reservations, btw. Service was pretty much...ask and you'll get it. We had to ask for water.....waited quite a while before we were asked what we'd like to eat. When the food came, the only thing that was slightly warm was the turkey. All of the vegetables and potatoes were cold. Not happy, and I covertly mentioned to the waiter that they needed to keep the food warm. (After we finished eating) So, no, not impressed and won't be back! read more

Food was not the best. My fish and vegetables were over cooked and my husband's potatoes were also dry and overcooked. The staff were very nice and that's pretty much why three stars. I'm not sure why so many Yelpers had such a bad experience here... mine was great. We were staying at the Marriott and my sister received coupons to come to Sear for a free breakfast. We were informed that the coupons could only be used for the American Breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs (any style), meat, hash browns, and toast. I had 2 poached eggs, apple smoked bacon, fruit (instead of hash browns) and whole wheat toast. The eggs were perfect. I have rarely seen 2 eggs look so good. Perfectly cooked and yummy. The bacon was a little greasy, but super tasty as well. I'm really happy that they substituted fruit for the hash browns and the wheat toast was thick and wheaty. :) I had some tea and my family had coffee. Overall we were really impressed. The service was a bit slow, but not too bad. Had we had to pay full price though... not a lot of food for the money. For free, awesome! Would I come back? If I didn't have a coupon I might not. $16.95 for the above described meal seems a bit much. Especially considering I can get 2 meals for that price at my favorite breakfast place in the bay area. I used to love Meritage, the restaurant that used to be here. Now it's called Sear, and it's not the same. The pluses: the location (still in the Marriott, in Town Center. Very convenient. Lots of parking). Cute interior. Fireplace. The waiter I chatted to and the gal at the bar were super nice. Good wine. (NOTE: I have only been here for Happy Hour, both at the Meritage and at Sear, so I'm only reviewing my HH experiences). The minuses: Meritage used to have seating in front of the fireplace. No more. If you want to sit at a booth in the restaurant area - even if it's the first booth, abutting the "bar" area, you cannot order from the HH menu (our nice waiter asked but the bar folks said no). The bar area is dimly lit and the area by the fireplace has high, uncomfortable tables and chairs (as mentioned, no comfy seating in front of the fireplace anymore. BOO!). The online menu is not current (at least, the HH menu was way off. If you're on a diet and like to plan your foods ahead of time, beware. This online menu is not up-to-date). They now take your credit card when you order so as to "start a tab" (when this place was the Meritage, you could pay when you left, and were never asked for payment or a credit card upfront). The HH menu is pretty bleak; there were maybe 5 items on it. I'm not sure I'll be back here. It just wasn't the same (not in a good way). read more

Jaime is an attentive and gracious waitress. I've been meeting people I mentor in this Marriott lounge a few times now and every single time I've got amazing service and the drinks are really good. I loved the ambience so much, that I also decided to meet a date there :P It can be a bit loud at times as the guests of the Marriott are often groups of corporate people staying for some event. But overall, I've really enjoyed the few times I've met for drinks there. read more

Strolled in to use the restroom, decided to stay for a snack. I had the broccoli Swiss soup, my mother had salmon tacos, and my brother the salmon chowder. We split an order of the Brussels sprouts, which were excellent.... huge bowl and tasty to the last bite. Pricing quite reasonable for what you get, and better than a typical hotel restaurant. read more

The food was fantastic! The perfectly grilled 9 oz filet was served with a whiskey peppercorn sauce that was delicious. I had the Mac & Cheese, definitely not your everyday...it was worth getting. For breakfast, the breakfast burrito was tasty and stuffed full of egg, ham & bacon. The Puget Sound with the crab hash was uniquely NW...yummy, not too heavy. The service was lacking: slow (40 min for breakfast with hardly any others there), my breakfast was barely warm (which a mgr? remade and didn't charge us for), no one manning the reception table/no greeter, and they were understaffed. Probably wouldn't go there again. We can find the same good food with better service somewhere else. read more

OK overall. The atmosphere is very open and clean. I do love that hotel feel though. It was a bit empty when I had lunch there but I enjoyed the private setting because of that and quiet. The service was very polite, attentive, and professional. It was apparent that my waiter had to travel quite the distance to his station and the kitchen but it did not prevent him from doing an amazing job, being so attentive and available. The food was disappointingly small for the price. I thought the price was pretty good until the food came out and I said, "oh, I see". One big mistake on the choice the chef made that gave this a lower review since everything else was great otherwise on my visit to this establishment; hard bread on a dip type sandwich. It was so hard, I wouldn't pass through TSA due to my bread weapon.What were they thinking? The meat quality, amazing. The Red bell pepper choice melodically adding that zingy flavor to the taste of soft beef and well seasoned au jus . . . amazing! The super hard bread?! Why?!?!?! it's a dip!!! They make bread that soak for a reason . . this is not the right choice. Well, it ruined the dip experience for me. Perhaps I will try something different on my next visit. Hoping that the chef doesn't make the same wrong decisions on the rest of the food options. We'll see. read more

The burrito is warm, filling, and toasty. Definitely a good choice if you need something filling and fast. The staff is very friendly as well. Lovely people and very quick to get things done. Came here for dinner, no one greeted us at the front, after ~10 minutes the bartender finally came over to seat us. You could tell she was pissed about having to pick up other people's slack, but she gets props for picking up other people's slack. I ordered a medium steak that came out well done, had to send it back only to get another well done steak (picture uploaded). Definitely not a place to spend $32 on a steak. My friend ordered a New York Strip medium, it came out well done. He sent it back. I ordered French Onion soup and the broth was so incredibly salty that I couldn't even swallow it (and I really like salt.). I exchanged my soup for the apple salad which was good. I had to take my son to use the restroom and when I was walking back out I heard the cook in the kitchen say "let those a**holes talk all the s**t they want, they are sitting outside." My friend's replacement steak came out and was medium-well / well again, but he was hungry enough to take it. It is pretty ridiculous that a steak can't be cooked correctly, not once but twice. It is sad that the broth that is made in the morning wasn't tasted because if it had been it would have been completely obvious how terribly over salted it was. It is also pathetic that an employee talks with such disregard to the patrons whose business pays his wage. Not coming back. read more

Good Marriott hotel restaurant out in the 'burbs. This is not fine dining or a place you drive to for the food. This is a good choice for a family dinner or a business lunch/dinner with a quite relaxed atmosphere. It is much quieter than Red Robin and the other chain resturants in Redmond Town Center. Food is straightforward and okay. Nothing wrong with anything - a big plus in our book - and although execution and presentation were good nothing really stood out as inspired. The portions are large and not too pricey for what you get. Wait staff was competent and very friendly. Everything arrived hot and mostly in the correct order. The kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed by the Friday night crowd so the pace was leisurely bordering on slow. Good thing we were not in a hurry. Note that the bar area can get a little noisy and entertaining so pick your seating accordingly - plenty of room. read more

The setting is decent, but the food is banal and the happy hour deals are decrepit. We ordered two of the more expensive items on the menu, the Alaskan salmon (decent, but a really small portion for $24) and the ribs (totally dry), and found both to be underwhelming. With numerous tastier alternatives around the town center, I would avoid this uninspired place. read more

Was there ~ 6:30 on a Saturday night. Zero wait, even though there was a huge event happening at RTC just outside. Service was incredibly slow. The place was ~2/3 full, and the host informed us that they only had one menu left, so my wife and I had to share... Ordered a couple of burgers and a small kids pizza for our son. He did not like the pizza. Burgers were OK, better than Red Robin but not really anything to get excited about. Did I mention the slow service? My wife ordered a mango martini before the meal, which didn't show up until she was nearly done with the burger. Thankfully they decided to comp it for us. This place wasn't great. The boyfriend got a burger, which was good. Not great but fine. It was a nice size and the beachers Mac and cheese side dish was yummy. I got the fish and chips which was very disappointing. They didn't taste terrible but they were small and skinny with the breading to fish ratio very off. Also, there was no tartar sauce served. Who doesn't serve Tatar sauce with fish and chips!? Service was ok. There was almost no one in the restaurant. While it wasn't terrible, we won't be back. read more

I have taken a dislike of this place since they changed their menu last year and got rid of all the things I used to love. They still have steaks and usually ribs, chicken and some sort of fish option. But they got rid of the delicious homemade potato chips with the french onion dip and replaced it with *gasp* fried green beans. NO thank you! Also got rid of the risotto of the day, mashed potatoes (really?!? A steakhouse with no mashed potatoes?!?), the onion rings and the dessert selection got more boring, however that was possible. They still do a Primecard BOGO on entree's, but even that is not enough to get me back here unless they revise the menu and bring back some of the things they cut out. I love filet, I REALLY love BOGO filet but I won't come here because none of the side dishes appeal to me. It's sad, they took something I liked and ruined it. Another complaint, because I am in a complain-y mood: when you call their number, it goes to voice mail. Just annoying, I'm calling because I have a question and want to speak to someone. If I automatically go to voice mail then I am not leaving a message, I am simply going else where. read more

We paid $18 for two sausage links, one egg, and some hash browns. Not only are the prices outrageous but the hash browns are beyond greasy bordering on inedible. There was an upside if you would call it that. I ordered the eggs benedict and even though the whites were still very runny at least my yoke was! I've tried the NY Strip and the Rib Eye on several occasions, and they have always been cooked to perfection. My experience with the service has been very good too. I ordered their breakfast omelette and hash browns. The omelette was good. I'd recommend the avocado and tomato one. The hash browns tasted a little odd which I think was due to the frying oil. The server also forgot to bring my toast but I wasn't that hungry so I didn't correct her. read more

My husband and I came here for our anniversary, hoping to find a decent steakhouse nearby to replace Beck's *moment of silence*. Our waiter was very nice, though obviously nervous and probably not terribly experienced. The restaurant was empty, though it was early. After waiting a couple minutes for someone to notice we had arrived, they put us in a booth which was an L shape with a tiny round table tucked into it. It was very awkward seating. We eyed the nice sized square tables that sat in the middle of the room wondering who thought this made sense. My drink, a greyhound, was made with some Ocean Spray grapefruit juice corn syrup crud, so it was bright pink *bleh*. My husband's rum and coke was ehh. About twenty minutes after we arrived we were served some bread, which was quite good actually. Yummy melty warm cheesy garlic bread served with some herbed butters. My filet mignon which I ordered Medium came back very rare, and the texture was kind of chewy for a filet. It was, simply, edible. My husband's ribeye was good. Both of our baked potatoes were undercooked. The menu doesn't tell you that they come with cheese and bacon fused to them already which would have been nice to know. We ordered the key lime pie which I could taste the 'freezer esscense' on. We were honest and polite with our critiques to our server, and still tipped him well because it wasn't his fault that the food was not very good. He comped the dessert. We won't return, because I just cannot see spending $100 on food that is just OK. Disappointing. read more

This is a good hotel restaurant. That's about it. Since this is Redmond and pretty much most other places close at 9 PM on weeknights, this is a good deal if you're staying at the hotel. Everything is pricey and I'd even say that the food is not that great. It's a dependable place for the business traveler staying at the hotel. That's what they're shooting for anyway. read more

This restaurant used to be better. We actually traveled from downtown Seattle to Redmond just to have their amazing brussel sprouts which used to be fantastic. I don't know what is going on there, but the brussel sprouts are no longer crispy and baked with goat cheese... what we received was a HUGE! bowl that was way too big... full of soggy brussel sprouts drowning in oil, with no goat cheese, leaving them tasteless, oily and really gross. We talked to the waiter about it and discovered that they stopped baking the brussel sprouts and started deep frying them in a vat of oil... I guess that is why we also had some french fries tossed in with our brussel sprouts. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Clearly, someone at SEAR doesn't take pride in their cooking anymore. Looks like they are trying to cut corners and serving deep fat fried, oily and soggy brussel sprouts that advertise goat cheese, that doesn't actually come with the sprouts... but what does come with the sprouts are some rouge french fries from the previous customers order. I love the staff here. I came here twice and the guy behind the bar who served me remembered my name. The food was much better than I was expecting, normally Hotel food can be questionable and in both occasions, I had delicious food. Second time, I had the steak and it was perfectly cooked. First time I had the clam chowder, it had a lot of decent seafood in there and was delicious and the portion size was larger than I was expecting. What a great find!! They accept the Passport card and the service is great. They do not offer bread and this was my only negative that I had. Waldo is the gentleman that was our waiter on the two occasions that I went there with my girlfriend. Waldo is great and he caters to your every need (he will bring you bread if you ask for it). Within the last year I have purchased from The Sears Overlake store in Redmond, WA the following: Kenmore Elite dishwasher...39 decibles; Kenmore Elite 50 gallon water heater; and, my most recent purchase, a Kenmore Elite 16 cf upright lockable freezer. The dishwasher is as quiet as it gets. You have to really force yourself to listen and need to be in front of it to hear sound!!! Delivered on time, installed in 10 minutes and old one hauled away. Kenmore Elite 50 gallon water heater. Installer showed up at 8pm and all was installed (including draining old water heater and removing it) and all complete by 9:30pm (evening install !!) Was later given a refund on parts ordered and paid for but not needed. 16cf Kenmore Elite upright self-defrost freezer just delivered and couldn't be happier with the Appliance Sales Staff at Redmond. The Appliance Associates always go out of there way to find the appliance that suits my needs and give me the best possible price available at the time. the best prices seem to be during their Friends and Family events (every 3 or 4 months?) Using their Sears Card also gives additional discount (at times?) I would suggest doing a few things ---BEFORE-- shopping for a new appliance. Take photos with you of the space where you are to install your appliance. Measure the space available: height, width, and depth and take them with you. Think about what you would like and do some research on the Sears.com site for your appliance. Realize that when buying an appliance, it may also mean purchasing additional cords, duct and certain items as needed and all required local permits. All of these are figured into the price Sears charges. BE SURE TO VERIFY YOUR APPOINTMENT BY 9 PM THE NIGHT BEFORE DELIVERY/INSTALL If you are really in a hurry, I would suggest shopping early in the week when they first open or after dinner when it can be slow. 5 * rating because of Great Price, selection, sales associate knowledge, curtousey, prompt delivery and installs and the incredible quality of the products. (Be sure to purchase the extended service agreement. All products with electronics are expensive to repair and Sears will replace your item with a brand new one if not repairable. First and foremost, I should mention that I will not be reviewing the service at this restaurant. It'd be unfair, the night I was there only two people working the front of the house. Evidently some folks called in sick. That went about as well as you can imagine. I'll be reviewing the food only. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with green chilies, $12. The tortilla was store bought, dry, flavorless and dense. The color on the outside was not uniformly golden brown. It was patchy at best. The cheese wasn't oozing out, it was set and hard, but that's more of a function of the front of the house letting my food die at the window. Couldn't be helped. What could have been helped was the cheese they used, it wasn't tasty at all. There wasn't a dairy note, or hints of salt brine or any of the creamy texture you'd expect. It was mostly just greasy. The chicken itself was dry, devoid of any juices, no flavor. Also, how did they cook it? Did they boil the chicken? Seems like another store bought ingredient. The included sour cream and salsa didn't do much for me. When you have a dish that is this tasteless, all you taste is sour cream and salsa. This was not a $12 quesadilla. At this price point, at least give me real cheese. My entree was a Marriott burger with potato chips, $16. Hard to judge the chips, I mean, they were soggy and barely crisp...but that's because my food sat at the window for a long time. Had nothing to do with the cooking. So...whatever. The burger on the other hand was irredeemably bad. Burger patty was dense, dry, not a pinch of salt in sight. Red leaf lettuce was OK, the slice of tomato needed a pinch of salt. The brioche bun was clearly a day or two old. It wasn't hard, but it was very dry. The bacon was without taste and dry. LET THAT SINK IN FOR A MOMENT. The bacon. That which makes all things tasty. America's food pixie dust. A meat so good we made a baconator out of it. WAS TASTELESS. Bacon has tons of fat in it, how did they dry it out?! Some of that can probably be explained by the clear signs of burnt bacon. This sad joke they called bacon, sat a top a slice of American Cheese so bland I had hoped they had used whizz cheese instead. What do you get when you stuff dry burger, dry bacon into a dry burger bun? The Sahara desert in every bite. I called for the host, asked for mayo and ketchup to try and fix it. I mean, why trust they can make a good burger at this point? No point in redoing it. I added my mayo and ketchup. I am such an idiot. I added something very wet to something very dry. The whole thing crumbled. I ended up having something more akin to a burger salad. With the right incentive, I'd come back. Perhaps a friend sweet talks me into it. Maybe my morbid curiosity gets the better of me and I go back to see if they improved. For now? Save your $28+TAX and go elsewhere. Here's the kicker. read more

Stopped in with a friend on a last minute decision. Upon entering, we felt calm and relaxed as the restaurant and bar are very appealing, quiet and with wonderful mood lighting. We were seated right away and since we only wanted appetizers, my friend chose the Calamari and I decided on the Seafood Chowder. We were served our drinks right away along with some of their incredible bread, that I understand they make right there. Our food came within a reasonable time and one look told us it was going to be good. My friend took one bite of her Calamari and claimed it was the best she'd eaten..it was fresh and cooked to perfection. My chowder was just mouthwatering. Many restaurants make a seafood chowder and I've sampled many, but this had to be the best I've ever had. The presentation of the food was top notch. Needless to say, we will be back again to enjoy the food and atmosphere as it's on our Passport cards (it's how I found them) which makes it all the better. read more

We visited Sear last night. (7:00 on Saturday). The place was nearly empty. They no longer serve bread with dinner. Since prime rib is no longer on the menu, I ordered a filet and baked potato. They definitely win the WORST potato award!!! I think it may have been several days old. So dry I asked for butter and sour cream. So cold the potato didn't even melt the butter. Never did see our server until we paid the bill. The manager was wandering around but never seemed to converse with the patrons. This will be our last time here for a long time!
