Very disappointed. We took our four grandchildren out to Brown's to get ice cream, we were celebrating the end of school, kindergarten graduation, beginning of summer etc. They have a very strict mask rule. She wouldn't even let the grandkids order ice cream without a mask, while we, the non-maskers waited outside. I can't wait until everyone is on the same page as far as the CDC guidelines. Really nice campground. We liked the nice peaceful area. Nice store to get things you forgot for a higher price then a normal store but convenient. 2 small issues we did have were #1 the showers charge you for hot water. One shower didn't work and took our shower coins. The store didn't open until the next morning. The coins were replaced but couldent shower the night before. #2 the sprinklers in the grass area behind our rv came on at random times and all of our things on the picnic table got wet. Again great campground. Probably will stay there again. read more

Great staff. There is a cafe they make fresh fruit pies that were delicious with ice cream. We had pie ala mode. We asked for a pull through since we were only staying one night on our way home and they accommodated us. Easy in and out of the campground. The grounds are clean and bathrooms and showers are clean. Beautiful grounds. However the people staying there were not as friendly as we are used to when camping. I think maybe because we were parked near the tent campers. The tent campers did not obey the quiet time at 10:00. There were large groups who were staying up way past 10:00. But we were in our rv so the noise level was down once we closed the doors and windows. We will come back only as a stopover and pie and ice cream and friendly staff. Pros: clean restrooms with showers, friendly staff, store has everything you might need at good prices. Cons: not all sites have fire pits or BBQs or picnic tables, no set quiet time. Disco music was blaring until 11:30pm. People pulling in at all hours of the night and the people next to us even damaged their truck on a large rock trying to pull in in the dark. If your idea of camping is peace and quiet you'll be disappointed. read more

Nicely maintained but office person stuck all five RV's in the back corner of the park, side by side. This despite Park not even close to 20% full and could have given us all some space. RV next to me ran generator in evening. Why I don't know when the sites had electricity. No staff ever came by to monitor situation. Might try one more time and if same attitude exists by staff will avoid staying here in the future. read more

This is the last stop on the way out of Bishop. We typically will buy a sandwich at Mahogony Smoke or Schat's and will stop here at the picnic tables. We have not stayed at the campgrounds but we do grab a few goodies at the general store. This is a great place to stop and stretch the legs on the way back from Lake Tahoe. Came in on Friday May 2nd. Nice camp ground, Friendly staff. Troubles started that night. A group of male tent campers were drinking, VERY loud music until the sheriff was called. They had to be called twice that night!! Second time was at appx 1:30 AM!! Per the map given out when we checked in quiet time is 10:00 PM like most campgrounds. Now comes Saturday night, Here we go again. Sheriff called twice, 11:30 they showed up and told this group to shut down the music PERIOD!! Sooo, #1. This campground has no host to control situations like this. #2 The Sheriff must be called. Very sad that this can happen at such a nice campground. Won't be back!! read more

Addresses on owners websites don't work on garmin gps or iPhone gps... used google maps after getting lost. Also the website doesn't post seasonal closures, so call. First site we tried the power outlet didn't work. Hookup includes electric and water (there's a dump station at entrance for $5 guest fee.) Nice campground, quiet, but relatively busy. Only employee around was groundskeeper. Beautiful views, and around an hour away from Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. A little pricey for amenities (no WiFi either.) read more

Nice, clean, spacious, courteous staff! Pulled in here for a short layover before heading to Mammoth and ended up staying here the whole week :-) Nice and clean, the staff was always seen working on the grounds, keeping everything tidy, always ready to help and answer questions. The location is close to the Bishop canal and easy access to Buckley pond for some fishing. Right next door to the golf course which is fun to watch. Also close to all of the town facilities. There is not a lot around here, and this place is shady, grassy and friendly. Nothing for the kiddos to do, but there is a really cute little "old west" set in the front that's worth looking at, with some displays. The office has simple food (hot dogs and the likes) and ice cream, and a little store. Pet friendly, although there is no dog run. This is more of a campground than RV park, which I like. I paid $33, which is fair for where & what it is. read more

My first time staying at Browns Town. Had a great spot backed up to the Golf Course! It is well maintained with a very friendly staff. Grace and Sidney were wonderful - Helpful, smiling, and definitely guest oriented! They have delicious home made pie in the store and ice cream to go with it! They made a special pie for us to take to dinner one evening- above and beyond. We will definitely be staying again in the future! read more

Very well kept campground with friendly staff. Restrooms and showers are VERY clean. Trash cans throughout the campground are emptied daily, if not multiple times a day. They water the grass regularly so everything is nice and green...great for the tents. read more

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and we had a great experience. The campground is incredibly easy to spot as you come into Bishop from the south and the staff at the front desk is helpful and friendly. Our spot was $23/night for four people and 1 car. Additional people are $1/night and additional cars are $10/night. Shower tokens are $1 for 7 minutes. They also have flushing toilets, awesome!! And the general store sells great ice cream. The spots are shady but I agree with another commenter, a bit close together and not every spot has a fire pit. We managed to snag one with a pit. Also, if you can try to get a spot closer to the gold course. If you can't, bring ear plugs. We stayed on a spot right next to Schober Rd, the traffic noise was not insignificant and the cows at the farm next door mooed all night long it felt like! I did not sleep at all the first night. After that I used ear plugs and I was fine. Great proximity to river and we also did a day trip to Yosemite from here! read more

I stayed here again in Mid-May. All was good. Sadly, I think all of the problems seem to have more to do with the lack of considerate campers nowadays rather than the facilities. I recommend staying mid-week and not near any holidays. read more

This is typically the weekend when about 100 friends head up to Bishop for a little family camping and innertubing. We're going to miss it this year, but I thought the occasion warranted a review for the place we've chosen for the past 3 (of about 16 years). This is a shady, grassy RV park with a general store, clean bathrooms, showers, and water outlets at just about every site. Located on the south end of Bishop, it's close to all you want to do there (fishing, tubing, hiking, etc.), and the ample trees provide much-needed shade in the hot summer months. The staff is friendly and unobtrusive, and the rate is about $15 per night. You really can't beat it! read more

Staff has been very helpful and friendly just wish they had remembered to tell me the showers take tokens not quarters. We got here on the day before they were closing for WInter- would love to come back in the late Spring or Summer- there looks like there could be a lot to see, especially for kids- The campground has little made up stores, like 'a little town' One BIG plus camping here at this time of year was that the bathrooms were very clean and HEATED- great place to camp even in colder weather. For $17 a night- this place was a bargain It is a little close to the highway- there were heck load of lorries going back and forth at night, but you eventually sleep through it. Took my 5 & 7 year old to get ice cream. We walked in and one customer was being helped in front of us so we went over to the ice cream counter. More people came in behind us. The lady was done with the first customer and started helping the other customers that came in behind us. So we still waited. After she took two food orders she walked by and handed them to the lady making food. She then walked back by us and said she'll help you when she is done. I said oh that's real nice. Then she went on with helping even more people that came in behind us. I was mad at that point and told my kids I guess no ice cream today. We booked several spots the first day they were allowing reservations. We requested sites in a certain area because we knew there was more shade. When we checked in we did not get any of the sites we requested. Not even close. The explanation was they do not guarantee spots. Well then tell us that when we booked them. Plus there are not any sewer spots in the campground ok fine, but they charge you to use their dump station! Will never come here again! read more

I've been coming out to this place for years already and I have to say every time I come I have a blast. The people at the store front are super nice the bathrooms are all clean and they have hot showers. We called for a spot weeks ahead of our trip and were told in a surly manner that they had nothing--dry or hookups. That turned out not to be the case. They've got plenty of business and they act like it. Don't waste your time at Brown's. Head just up the road to Highland RV Park. You'll be glad you did. read more

Nice place, stayed for four nights and it was very nice. Bathrooms were clean and the showers are nice but a little over priced at $2 per 7 min of hot water. The spaces are narrow towards the front with cable hook ups, plus our cable didn't work anyway. The store is nice just very expensive . I will stay there again but next time I will know what to expect. read more

June, 2015 Grass and Trees... many Owens Valley campgrounds don't have these things in abundance! However: 1.) The little Old West Town in front is mostly decoration. One building is a laundry room, the rest display old tools and trinkets like an unattended museum. 2.) Checking in and getting "full hook-ups" means only water and electric. Sewer, Internet Wi-Fi and/or Cable is NOT available. $30.00 per night. 3.) Showers use tokens, purchased at the office. $2 per token. 7 minutes of hot water with each token. Cold water showers require no token. 4.) Dump Station costs $5 if you stay in the campground, $12 if you don't. The station must be pumped out every week, thus the cost. 5.) No sewers, means EVERYONE uses the Dump Station when leaving. Plan to wait in line. 6.) At about 09:30 AM, the sprinklers come on, dropping the facility water pressure at the camper to near-zero. Had to use the electric pump and my potable water to get any flow. 7.) Spaces at the rear of the campground are further from the road and have denser trees. However, if you have Sat-TV, these trees can and often do block the satellite signal, so plan accordingly if you plan a stay of several days and want TV. 8.) The office also has a small cafe/kitchen which has some hot sandwiches and ice cream. Open at 08:00, no breakfast is available. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this campground. Being steps away from the Owens with the sierras as a backdrop is difficult to beat. Camp sites, showers, restrooms were all very clean! Fishing was great for your 8-12 inch rainbows. Non stop action on those. read more

The good: this place is pretty cool and convenient. I liked the staff, and the fact that there are hot showers and restrooms are always a plus after a long day of hiking/climbing. The bad: no privacy in that all the campgrounds are visible to all others, and they are a little close to the street. Stay here if you just want a place to crash after a long day, but if you are looking for a more nature-inspired place, this is not the campground for that. read more

3 years ago while traveling home from a camping trip in Mammoth with our truck and travel trailer, our truck's transmission went out in a town just south of Bishop. Not a good feeling when you're 4 hours from home! We had to have our truck towed to a mechanic, get a rental car and find a place to store our trailer! Thank God for Brown's Town! We called them, explained our situation and they were very happy to help! They placed our trailer in a spot close to the office so they could keep an eye on it since it was still loaded with a lot of our belongings and our bikes were still hooked to the back! After arriving home in our rental car, my husband realized he left our refrigerator on in our trailer, which meant it was running on gas/propane tanks! He called the staff at Brown's Town and asked them if they could shut off the tanks for us! They were again, happy to help! We are very appreciative that during a very stressful time, the staff at Brown's Town was able to help us in our time of need!! Thank you!! read more

The camp ground is beautiful. Nice that there is grass and the showers are super clean. I just dont know if I will ever stay here again because of their lack of responsibility to take care of ridiculously rowdy guests. Friday and Saturday night we were kept up all night by loud rowdy guests. All throughout the night. Their policy is call the police. Well the police can't do much on private property. I called multiple times and still nothing was done. There needs to be a camp host at night that will stop people from acting out. Because playing mariachi music, screaming and yelling for 6+ hours all through the night is not acceptable. Then they were even driving through the campground blaring music in the car at 2:30am purposely being rude, inconsiderate people and guess what was done by the campground? Nothing. There was even a fight that broke out and still these people were not kicked out. If this is a common issue, I will not stay here. When talking to the girl at the front she said it's hard to get a camp host. If all the state parks can do it, why can't you?
