First time at Brownstone, greeted by a big jazz mural on the wall, the vibe is as old fashioned as you can get right off the bat. In no rush on this beautiful morning, so I figured I'd order the biggest plate I could've ordered and just soak the vibe in, appropriately called The Feast with a glass of apple juice. So they came in with the wrong order, so what? At least they quickly got it fixed and brought out my real order, no need to throw a fit this early in the morning. Anyhow, as for the meal itself, they're not trying to reinvent the wheel and that is perfectly fine, really just came for the vibes. The meal was satisfyingly traditional overall. Is it worth going back to though? Unfortunately no, because there are better sit down breakfast spots on the island, wasn't really worth the distance, in my opinion. Some minor complaints are that coffee drinks weren't refilled and syrup cost extra by like ¢.75, but they're really minor, nothing to really fuss about, personally though I liked it but it was worth it for the one time for the vibe alone. I've been meaning to try this cafe for a while, it's been recommended by a few people. First of all, the coffee is probably the best I've had at a cafe. I like my coffee with breakfast simple with a dash of milk and some sugar. I love that they had milk substitute specifically oat milk. I like a sweet breakfast so I ordered Nikki's Nutella crepe. I really enjoyed it. It was delicious and wasn't heavy. The service here is great there wasn't much of a wait at all for our food and our waitress kept our coffee cups full. It's busy when we went on a Sunday! I do like that their coffee is piping hot, a lot of times when you order coffee at the restaurants they are usually like warm. Came here today with a group of 5 and I must say it never disappoints! It was my first time at the new location which they have down the street of the old one. So huge and spacious and it has windows which bring in so much natural light. I love the design inside. If you're coming on a weekend, definitely join that waitlist! It's super life changing. For example, today when we joined there were 37 parties ahead of us. I would say it moves pretty quickly at times so we were able to get seated sooner than the estimated wait time was. I will say our server wasn't very involved with our table- we even forgot who it was. I will say today however, my Little Italy panini came out missing chicken. I had to ask a different person to fix it which he did promptly. Here's what we had: French Toast Bites- a MUST! always. Between the 5 of us we ended up doing two orders. We also added Nutella on the side Little Italy panini- other than the chicken mishap, everything was delicious as always. Chicken and Waffles- my friend got this and generally enjoyed them but she hoped for the chicken to be crispier than it was given the description it had on the menu. This is my 3rd time here. I'm done. Any run of the mill diner would have been better. It's never been great or lived up to the hype. This visit, both our meals were served barely warm. The french toast was soggy. The butter was too cold to spread or melt. We sat at the counter and watched the employees prepping the drinks. They were attempting to train a brand new employee during Sunday brunch rush hour. On at least 3 occasions, we watch someone sniff different drinks and containers as if checking to see if the contents had gone bad, and they were really sticking their whole face in there to sniff to the extent that we didn't want to drink anything they had sniffed and breathed on. read more

Not from around here and we visited after my daughter's testing at the hospital she wanted breakfast food. I chose this place based on reviews but I tell you next time I am around here I am picking a basic diner since they usually can't mess up breakfast! - Good things: The service was friendly and courteous and the decor was updated new and comfortable. I liked that my tea was organic and in a huge tea cup. - My husband's cobb salad looked amazing and everything was chopped small - Things not so great - Toast did not come with my eggs sausage and potatoes. When I realized this it was offered at $1.95 no biggie since the place has to stay in business but why not tell me beforehand usually toast comes with the breakfast but I assumed this was a diner which it sort of isn't. One of my sausages was undercooked and so were my daughter's pancakes which she asked me to taste saying they tasted off. We also felt rushed out. It seems like there was no love in cooking the breakfast meals and the cook rushed through cooking them since the sausage and pancakes were both underdone. Gave adequate time to look at menu and bring over beverages, did not feel rushed at all. Lots of variety in food with dietary and allergens taken into consideration. I opted for the Brownstone omelette, you can actually taste each ingredient noting overpowered one another. Hubby ordered the poached egg avocado toast which he enjoyed (I didn't sample as I'm not a hollandaise fan). The home fries are out of this world delicious with flavorful seasoning. He also agreed this place was worth the visit and we're glad we came across it. As for the coffee I wish I would have ordered something more fancy like a latte or cappuccino, but the regular and decaf were delicious. I wasn't into the hot honey (luckily I asked for it on the side), but the chicken was fried to perfection and well-seasoned. My mom had pancakes, eggs, and bacon. She enjoyed it, but wished the syrup was a bit sweeter. The pancakes were huge, though! My son had a burger with fries--he left no crumbs, lol. My husband had the French toast bites, eggs, and bacon, and he enjoyed all of it. I'd definitely return.
